A few days ago I agreed to a debate on the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero on Ave Maria Radio's Kresta in the Afternoon, with host Al Kresta. They didn't have an opponent lined up yet, but that was fine with me: the facts are the facts.
So imagine when my surprise and delight when I was waiting for the show to start and Dawud Walid of Hamas-linked CAIR's Michigan chapter was announced as my debate opponent. CAIR operatives have been ducking me for years, ever since Honest Ibe Hooper and I had a delightful encounter moderated by, of all people, Keith Olbermann, on MSNBC way back in 2003 or 2004. Hearing Walid announced, I quickly opened my files on CAIR's connections with Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, the convictions of its officials on terror charges, its unindicted co-conspirator status, and the rest, and was loaded for bear -- CAIR bear.
But then Kresta went on the air and he was, well, crestfallen. He and his producer Nick Thomm told the story to the listening audience: they had contacted CAIR's national office in Washington, which referred them to Walid, who agreed to a debate and even posted on his blog that he would be appearing. They were chagrined to report that after all that, Walid had not shown up. He had vanished without notice or explanation.
Of course, CAIR operatives know that I will tell the truth about their unsavory gang of thugs, libel artists and seditionists. That's why they will not meet me in debate, whatever the forum, whatever the topic. But if they ever summon up some courage to defend their Islamic supremacist positions, I'll be right here.
Meanwhile, I expect you'll find Dawud Walid cowering in a corner with Brave Ahmed Rehab.

I recall from some prior Michigan thread months ago that this "Dawud Walid" is an African-American convert to Islam, perhaps in prison.
His real name is...can someone look that up? And, that he was a criminal of some sort and has a criminal record. And he's a high school graduate or has a GED.
Not hard to imagine why the CAIR thugs pulled the plug on "Dawud."

Well, I wouldn't debate Spencer either if I were muslim. Robert is just too bright and easily avoids being taken for a spin in confusing sub-issues. By always coming back to the heart of the matter, and expressing himself with great clarity, taqiyya is rendered ineffective.
It seems that these muslims just aren't master debaters...
Followers of Islam don't really debate, that's for sure. They will pretend to for a while, but if they discover you know quite a bit about their ideology they are pretty quick to bail out. They are particularly sensitive about quesitons relating to Mohammed being a perfect example for all mankind.

Here's Dawud Walid's blog, where he mentions he appeared on Radio Baladi 690 AM this morning discussing the New York City mosque controversy.
Guess he had "better" things to do than to show up for an appearance he had already committed to...sarc/off
In response to the Ground Zero mosque issue, he opines that it's of no use to try to be a "good Muslim" (i.e. "moderate" Muslim), because Infidels may still not give you carte blanche.
He then goes on to laud Luqman Ameen Abdullah, the Detroit Imam who died in a vicious gun battle with the FBI.

Why debate when you're way ahead in the polls? And let's face it: Islam, its perspectives and victim pose(wolf in sheep's clothing) are today's politically correct fare.
Occasionally, however, a small victory is achieved. For example, the BBC, normally anti-Israel, ran a half hour special on the Fraud Flotilla and wound up vindicating Israel. Their offices were subsequently picketed by protesters screaming "Racism!". Anything anti-jihad is racist - it's that victim thing again.

I for one would not invade his privacy by making inquiry, I wouldn't prod his wife Daisy Con - oops, I mean Khan (um - is THAT why that name is SO SO common? - I have known a number of Khans, and not one of them could even remotely be considered for the Albert Schweitzer Integrity Award) - I wouldn't prod her for his whereabouts, but I would happily pay her way if she wanted to go in search of him . . .
I second that idea. Hostile nuts might well mark you, as a leader and inspirer of others, for bad outcome. I attended a Salman Rushdie lecture last year at a small college in downtown Brooklyn, and there appeared to be no security except the guards looking at people as we entered the lecture hall. Nothing bad happened (except he spoke for all too briefly a period - he was hilarious!), but I thought, as I entered the hall, that metal detectors or other "hard" methods would be a really good, or even essential, element of such an offering.
We must hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
