Ground Zero mega-mosque leaders' anti-Semitic tweet

Haaretz published an erroneous story saying that the leaders of the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero were going to move the mosque elsewhere. In response, the Park51 group, that is, the mosque leadership, published the anti-Semitic tweet at the bottom of this series (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Park51: Correction, we will be publishing an official twitter response to the Haaretz story and the Hamas comments.

Park51: Official: Reports by Haaretz are completely false. We are committed to plans of building Park 51 to serve the community of Lower Manhattan.

Park51: We are also deeply thankful to the President of the United States and the Mayor of New York City for their support.

Park51: Official: Hamas does not and will not speak for Park51. Our mission is one of peace, understanding, tolerance and faith.

Park51: On a side note, if Haaretz likes publishing fables, perhaps they could go back to the Yiddish ones with parables #welikethosebetter

Pamela has the screenshot of the tweet here. Also she has a revealing look at some of the people Park51 follows on Twitter. Take a look.

Will Obamahdi comment?

I am prepared to believe the worst of the Cordoba House gang, but can someone please explain why this is explicitly
anti-semitic?

A lot of Israelis were originally Yiddish speakers...presumably there were Yiddish fables...I can see it probably is motivated by anti-semitism, in the sense that it probably has behind it querying the right of Israelis to live where they live.

But it doesn't seem explicitly anti-semitic.

Can someone please elucidate as I might be missing something.

"Our mission is one of peace, understanding, tolerance and faith."
Ah..., Mohammedan Missions!!!

Maybe it's a double slap? The most famous Jew I can think of who told "fables with parables" is Jesus, but he didn't speak Yiddish, as it wouldn't have been invented yet.

Careful there, mousqueteers. Your islam is showing...

And who in the hell is "Obamahdi"? I know of no one with this name. Is that someone I should know?

Come on guys, call him by his real name: Obama.

Stop being children.

Okeedokee "bonncaruso" we probably should. You're right, is it "bonn" or is it "caruso?" Or, are you actually one of those uni-named children that were a fad awhile back and it's really just "bonncaruso?"

Shouldn't it be capitalized "Bonncaruso" though?

I mean we wouldn't want to be disrespectful to your actual name by spelling it incorrectly in the way that we sometimes JOKE and kid around with Obamanation's name and stuff.

THAT would be childish.

Just sayin'

Cursing at children.. you might not like it here.

I call him Rasool and sometimes Rasulullahaha...Do I have to stop?

Ok - no one has elucidated as to how this is anti-semitic...

I'll take a shot at it, and please somebody correct me if i miss the mark:

Tweet: "On a side note, if Haaretz likes publishing fables, perhaps they could go back to the Yiddish ones with parables"

It's anti-semitic because it is clearly a snide, hateful remark that suggests that Jews (at Haaretz) like to publish falsehoods, and further suggests that since Jews like to publish such falsehoods, perhaps they should refer back to old Yiddish fables that at least have parables attached.

I think that's pretty straight-forward example of "Judenhass" (Jew hate)?

No? Yes?

The instant I surfed to this The End Of Nations website it occurred to me that Jihad Watch's frequenters really should witness this link!http://hubpages.com/hub/Global-Union-The-End-Of-Nations

No? Yes?

No. In there first place, there are Yiddish fables. And there are parables, although I think whoever wrote this may have been a bit confused; at least parables are stories in of themselves and are AFAIK not attached to fables, Yiddish or otherwise. Second, it is a slam on Haaretz for publishing one specific (allegedly) false story, and does not indicate any general pattern.

Note: there are quite a number of Jews who think Haaretz in the habit of publishing fables, but that's a political discussion.

In short, while there are probably good reasons to suspect the Cordoba Mosque organizers for antisemitism, this isn't one of them, and calling this antisemitism undermines genuine antisemitic activities.

Park51: Official: Hamas does not and will not speak for Park51. Our mission is one of peace, understanding, tolerance and faith.

It is rather strange seeing someone admit Hamas are not of peace, understanding, tolerance and faith.

Well that's one interpretation but it's not clear. It's really a back reading from what we know of Islam and its problem with Judaism.

It's perfectly acceptable to say a newspaper has lied about something - that's free speech - and in this case it appears the newspaper was indeed factually incorrect as Pamela accepts!

I mean, if I was to say that a Danish newspaper had lied on something and advise them to stick to the tales of Hans Christian Andersen, would that be a racist anti-Danish remark?

I think this counter attack has as much punch to it as a sickly featherweight. We have to be careful not to be drawn into boggy ground as it were - that's a classic trick totalitarians use with democrats.

I am prepared to believe the worst of the Cordoba House gang, but can someone please explain why this is explicitly anti-semitic?

It's anti-Semitic because it's there simply to say "Haaretz are Jews and therefore they are liars". What other purpose is there? They mentioned the source of the report when they denied its veracity in the second tweet. These mulsims know that they are under a microscope BUT still they could not help themselves. The last sentence is gratuitously provocative and decidedly shows the true animus these "peaceful, understanding, tolerant, interfaith outreaching" muslims really have for other faiths, especially da Joooos.

Big-Pete -

No doubt you are correct about what lies behind it but there's not enough on the surface...and I think that the small number of comments on this thread (mostly made up of my queries and people's responses) shows that most people sensibly agree and aren't making much of it. I think we have to be careful not to go down this path of saying no one can ever refer to anyone's ethnicity with being convicted of Nazi-like racism. I wouldn't want an anti-Shariah campaign to make that mistake.

Maybe the tweet is antisemitic because the person who wrote it is vaguely aware that Christians also see Hebrew, the language of the Old Testament, as sacred, too; and wanted to choose a language clearly and unambiguously Jewish. If the majority of the world's Jews were genuine, Iberian-descended Sefardim rather than Central- and East-Europen descended Ashkenazim, he would have made a disparaging remark about Ladino; if the bulk of the world's Jews were Central Asians, he'd have made a disparaging remark about Bokhari.

While I'm not Jewish by Rabbinic law and don't even hold to a Dispensational premillennial eschatology, I still wish to nod to my Jewish neighbors and tell them they have my sympathy for being poked at this way.

Finally, and a bit off-topic, as someone who knows a little about both German and Hebrew and who grew up around LOTS of Ashkenazi neighbors, I think Yiddish is a wonderful language.

Thanks for your reasoned and reasonable response. I agree we must be cautious of knee jerk reactions to, what might often be, off-hand remarks. Without the benefit of vocal inflections and body language innocent comments can be misconstrued as being more sinister. However, in this case, knowing the whole world is watching, these muslims "dedicated" to interfaith outreach felt compelled to mention the ethnicity/faith of the organization that was the source of the report. Why? IMO because in their world the Jew is the most wretched of creatures and can only be trusted to cheat, lie, steal and murder to accomplish their nefarious goals (classic projection if you asked me). IOW this report had no credibility b/c the Jew reported it.

However, mark my words. This report is accurate and they WILL move the mosque. I wish they wouldn't b/c it's bringing much needed attention to the goals of islam but THAT is exactly why they will capitulate.
