Just idle talk over tea. Maybe there was no football game to watch, so the conversation naturally gravitated toward the mass murder of Infidels. "Indonesia terror suspects allegedly talked about targeting embassies," by Kathy Quiano for CNN, August 11:
Jakarta, Indonesia (CNN) -- An Indonesian official said suspected members of a terror cell arrested in the past week were "chatting" about targeting foreign embassies, but it is not clear whether they planned to follow through.Ansyaad Mbai, head of a government anti-terror desk, said he could not confirm that the group was targeting the U.S., U.K. and Australian embassies.
"They were just chatting about it, but it's not confirmed," Mbai said.
He said the five suspected terrorists were talking about targeting the embassies during police interrogations.
Mbai confirmed one of the main targets was the national police headquarters "because they conducted surveillance and took photos of the building," he said.
On Monday, Islamic cleric Abu Bakar Bashir was arrested for playing a key role in the establishment of a militant training camp in Indonesia's Aceh region, authorities said.
Bashir -- a religious leader known for his anti-Western rhetoric -- has been arrested twice previously for his activities in connection with militant groups. He was detained in West Java and later brought to the national police headquarters for further questioning....
"because they conducted surveillance and took photos of the building,"
That's what they usually do...
What about a preemptive strike. Don't wait...lock them up before it happens...again.
(video)...just "chatting"

Who's idle chats don't turn, every so often, to mass murder? Oh, wait—mine don't, likely neither do yours...

I simply cannot believe this headline at HuffPo:
"IGNORING FLOODS IN PAKISTAN CAN LEAD TO TERRORISM"
And they're serious! Pay up or else!

Reply to Eleanor...
The author Cameron Sinclair must be a Muslim or a Liberal left leaning, all supporting self righteous, wonderfully intelligent, tragedy absorbing individual.
Personally will still support SIOA, etc.
"Just idle talk over tea." Right!
That would make them "Tea-orrists" or if they prefer coffee..."Java-dists".
How loverly!
Speaking of tea...has anyone ever read "Tea With Terrorists: Who They Are and Why They Kill" by Craig Winn and Ken Power?
It's online reading but quite enlightening and entertaining.
The forward: On September 11th America spoke of the New York and Washington bombings as if they were synonymous with the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. Yet our response was entirely different. Rather than defending ourselves by identifying the enemy, declaring war, and galvanizing America’s resolve by disseminating truth, we enriched our enemy, lamely attacked a symptom, and told our people a lie - one that will lead to global war if we don’t come to understand the root cause of terror. More...
Indonesia is definitely one to fear.
I feel rather sorry for Australia and New Zealand right now.
Indonesia has the greatest Muslim population in the world.
It is a staggering 202,867,000, and growing geometrically, thanks, in large part, to the fertility cult of the moon god.
Muslim migrants are constantly landing on Australia's shores and they keep sending them to Christmas Island, the waiting point...I guess a kind of Ellis Island of Australia.
The land down under is under assault and their fearless leaders are doing a great job welcoming them there as well.
Distinguishing a lie is a tricky thing.
Wondering if one has been hoodwinked it something else.
All should blatantly know one or the other when reading the first few words of a CNN report.
Yes,I preferred Indonesia as a neighbor when it was a military dictatorship, the generals seemed to do a better job of keeping the Islamists under control. Now that the country is a(temporary)democracy the muderous bastards are everywhere. At the moment Indonesia is not a military threat to Australia, but in the long run, who knows. The real disaster for Australia will occur if the Moslems start a widespread massacre of Chinese and Hindus or if the country, which is basically a Javanese empire, collapses and a flood of refugees lands in Northern Australia.
"...so the conversation naturally gravitated toward the mass murder of Infidels."
Naturally! ...especially since "prophet" muhammad was a mass-murderer, too. Some Perfect Man, eh? islam & company make life on earth a living hell ...
Yes! Surely the idle chat of any young man would turn to girls or football. Or the politically enlightened perhaps concentrate on social injustices and the promises of individual betterment by education.
But not here, oh no! We have far more interesting topics. Fun topics! It comes natural like!
Of course, often it is mere bragging and showing off, jostling for power and influence within the group by appearing the most radical (the European terrorist groups like the Baader-Meinhof Group had some of that). Problem is when they - sometimes accidentally I suspect - are forced to show their stuff by actually doing something.
Those 'chatting' about attacking Western targets are the jihadis that are the successors of Noordin Top and Dr Azahari bin Husin, the perpetrators of both Marriott Hotel bombings (2003,2009) the Australian Embassy bombing (2004) and Bali II (2005). Some were directly associated with some of these previous attacks but most were recruited by Dulmatin (associated with the 1st Bali in 2002 and shot by police in Jakarta a few months ago) specifically for the purpose of continuing the bombing and assassination campaign to drive Western influence out of Indonesia and bring about sharia law through overthrowing the secular government.
Their chief ideologue and promoter was, as before, Abu Bakar Ba'asyir (Bashir) who was himself arrested due to the links between himself and the senior members of his organisation (JAT) who he appointed to create, with Dulmatin, the terrorist cells required to carry out this campaign. This will all be proven in a court of law. The Indonesian government is training over 50 judges in handling terrorist cases in order to prosecute over 100 terrorists, including Bashir, that they currently hold awaiting trial. Previously some got pretty light sentences but some like the Bali I bombers and the Aust Emb bombers have been executed or are on death row. There is a distinct likelihood that many, including Bashir, will get lengthy jail terms. Indonesia may be a Muslim majority country, the biggest on the planet but they are also determinedly a secular democracy, much to the frustration of the Islamic extremists like Bashir.
Most Indonesians will not vote in sharia because they know that its the last vote they'll ever have! For the vast majority of Indonesians, the prospect of not being able to vote is a total anathema. They have not and are not interested in what Bashir and his extremists are selling.
Finally, at long last, the Indonesians have a government who appears ready to do something about the extremists - several disrupted attempts to assassinate the president seem to have provided the incentive to act!
If only Obama and other Western leaders would take such a pragmatic response to Islamic terrorism.
Cheers,
Doc
Let's face it, there is only so much to talk about in Islam. Do you obey the prophet right now or is it halal to wait a couple of seconds........ after that, you might as well plan your jihad.
