SRINAGAR: Sikhs in the Kashmir Valley have received anonymous letters from Islamic militants asking them to either embrace Islam and join the protests against civilian killings or pack up and leave the Valley. The 60,000-strong Sikh community is the single largest minority group in the Valley.An organisation of Kashmiri Sikhs said that several community members have received these letters. "Community members have received unsigned letters at various places," said All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (ASCC) coordinator Jagmohan Singh Raina. He said the community has decided to stay put and fight these "evil designs" at a meeting in Srinagar on Thursday.
Raina quoted a letter as saying: "When you are enjoying the joys here, why can't you share the grief and sorrow of Kashmiris as well? We know you are afraid of bullets... Hold protests inside gurdwaras or leave Kashmir." He added, "Some letters have asked Sikhs to embrace Islam."
Raina urged both factions of the Hurriyat, JKLF and PoK-based United Jihad Council to take serious note of the threats to maintain amity and brotherhood in the Valley....

Sikhs were part of a warrior caste which helped defeat Islamic rule in India. I won't be surprised if the muslim threats eventually turn into cries of 'persecution/genocide' as their jihad backfires and they get massacred by the Sikhs. Same old stupid game with muslims, they never learn and neither do we so this idiotic war between then and us goes on century after century.
India made a monumental blunder-after re-capturing their country from the invading muslims, instead of eliminating the religion that lead to the deaths of 80 million Hindus, the destruction/conversion of 10,000 Hindu temples to mosques/mausoleums (including the Taj Mahal), the countless billions of dollars of wealth stolen by the Islamic Arabs, Persians, Turkish hordes, they allowed Islam to propagate, re-grow, becoming Pakistan and Bangladesh and now they will likely have to fight them all over again.
They should've followed Spain's example and expunged Islam from their nation. Of course Spain let in the Trojan Islamic horse and now have muslim populations to deal with again, but not the 400 million or so muslims that India has to contend with in their region.

Las you are so right. Indian leaders when they had a chance of getting rid of these peple forever, they opted to let them stay just to show to the world th at Hindus can be secular and can live in harmony even with former butchers of Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists. Mind you Muslims demanded and get a separate nation and in that case all Muslims should have been totally expelled from India.
Now the situation is so bad - the Muslim population has grown four folds since independance from 40 million to 150 million and as usual their demands for more rights are growing. also Muslims were allowed to practice sharia in civil matters but not in criminal matters where the Indian courts take over.
Well the opportunity was lost and India will become Islamic just by the force of demographic bomb( or should I say womb).
Muslims slaughtered 80 to 100 million Hindus,Sikhs, Buddhists, etc and yet Hindu leaders in their infinite wisdom let the Muslims stay in India and the present day Indians will pay the price.
Just look at the audacity of Kashmiri Muslims - they are threatening Sikhs to convert. As of last time I checked Kashmmir was still part of India. Non-Muslims in India are being threatened by Muslims to convert to Islam. Shame on this India government that panders to Muslims in India and doesn't care for the rights of Hindus and others.

Several important points here—firstly, that these Muslims do not consider Kashmiri Sikhs to be "real Kashmiris" at all—only Muslims are considered real Kashmiris. In a very similar story, a Christian Pakistani girl was beaten by her own teacher in front of other students when she casually referred to herself as "Pakistani". Clearly, her Muslim teacher and classmates did not believe she could call herself Pakistani, or consider herself a proper citizen—only Muslims could.

Notice the clear implication that not only are Sikhs not "real" Kashmiris, but they are continuing there as happily as they are *only* on Muslim sufferance—which can be revoked at any time. This is a threat.

This is *exactly* the same sort of thing that goes on when "Palestinian" Christians are pressured to condemn Israel—if Sikhs cannot make themselves useful to Muslims by joining with them to condemn India, then they can expect Muslim reprisals.

Well said Jaladhi and agreed, it is a tragedy what happened in India, but the same story is repeated in every country (check out the cesspool that is the mideast) where Islam has dug in roots and flourished. This sick choking weed needs to be ripped out wherever its found and incinerated.
This is also a lesson in what happens when people are tolerant towards the intolerant. What can I say, I've lived a long life, read a great deal and if I can sum up my experience in a sentence on this subject, it's simply this: that Islam needs to be eliminated from this entire planet. I don't care what it takes or how long but it must be done-though the sooner the better.
All religions actually need to be eliminated-even the peaceful ones because I've found all they do is narrow the scope of thought and range of options to deal with issues. They also give a very warped (infantile) view of the world and many of the ideas are just plain wrong. Thanks to the idiotic notion of 'love your enemy', it has lead to the slaughter of 60 million Christians by Islam.
Now had the phrase been 'love your neighbor unless he tries to kill you-then you kill him first.' I think the outcome would've been very different and many innocent Christians would've survived. Same goes for Hinduism/Buddhism-I admire their texts as literature, but that's the only way they ought to be appreciated-not taken as gospel from some magical invisible entity that has never appeared on this planet to anyone (those who claim he did are liars or mentally ill).
While democracy is far from perfect, I believe it is the greatest system, offering the most freedom and opportunity for personal success over all the others. My point is that we've found the 'best' system on this planet-now we must share it with our fellow human beings. We should be working to end Islam and Communism and fascism around the world for true global peace.

Give them an inch , they will grab a yard. They force others to embrace their religion. Once converted you cannot extricate yourself. Does India have the conviction and will to fight them ? Sadly no. Have been appeasing them for too long. After some riots or attacks we make the right noises. But our rage is never sustained. They don't even follow the same civil code in India.

Those are ideologies-a set of ideas, so are religions. All ideologies are open to criticism, ridicule and elimination if they prove to be false and harmful.
Religions are dogmatic and considered to be 'divinely inspired' so they are 'perfect and immutable' no matter how false they seem despite the fact that all religions are man-made. Just ask any devote muslim or christian.
Additionally such religious dogmas are not open to question, change, or revision. Rather the beliefs once established, are jealously guarded against alteration, think of Geocentricism (vs Heliocentricism) for example.
Despite all the evidence presented to the Church by Galileo that we spin around the sun, not the other way, the Church refused to accept anything that went against their Biblically based world view and locked him up instead for telling the truth-typical of fascist totalitarian systems. Only centuries later did they apologize for their stupidity.
Christians today make the same identical mistake with every body of science, including Evolution. Science works in the opposite way to religion. It is a combination of Rationalism (reason) and Empiricism (evidence). The truths that science generates are open to discussion and change, therefore improvement.
This is why science has given us fighter jets, laptops, satellites, extended the human lifespan through better production of food and fighting disease, while religion has given us nothing but retrogression, anti-intellectualism, superstition and of course religious warfare. Religion has far outlived its usefulness (primarily by brainwashing kids). It was fine for peasants living 2000 years ago, but an 8 yr old living today has a deeper understanding of the world than those said primitives.
I'm an ex-Christian who was once fairly devout, until my early teens when I read a lot of science/philosophy and realized all religions are bogus. Christians are lazy thinkers who refuse to consider reason. The moment you decide to honestly investigate your beliefs with the same fervor you scrutinize science or other religions, is the day you'll realize Christianity is as vapid as every other religion ever invented and you'll leave it like I did.
Oh and don't forget Christianity was just as violent and rapacious a few centuries ago as Islam is today. Christianity has killed over 100 million people through invasion, colonization and Christianization of 'pagan' lands.
The difference is that in the West after much fighting and struggle, we had the Reformation, separation of church/state and the Enlightenment which all contributed to civilizing Christianity and also eliminating theocratic rule.
Otherwise we (unbelievers) would be as much at war with Christianity as we are with Islam. Christianity however remains a major impediment to scientific and social advancement, despite no longer being a physical threat to non-Christians.
Still I believe Christians and secularists can live in harmony together because we both value democracy/capitalism and all the rights/freedoms we have. The same is not possible with Muslims who-when they attain large enough numbers-will seek to dominate the rest of us and impose Islamic rule and that of course is unacceptable.
