Kabul (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Eight foreigners and two Afghans of the International Assistance Mission (IAM), a Christian charitable organization providing aid and medical assistance to the Afghan people were killed by the Taliban in the district of Kuran wa Munjan in the region of Badakhshan , northeast Afghanistan. Gen Kemtuz, one of three Afghan translators, is the only survivor. The organisation in question is Swiss based International Assistance Mission, which offers medical assistance.
Dirk Frans, IAM Executive Director said that doctors - all opticians - were returning to Kabul from the region of Nuristan, after a two and a half visit, through Badakhshan, considered the safest route. The IAM lost contact with the doctors vehicles on Wednesday and it is presumed they were attacked between Wednesday and Thursday.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the murders through spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid who claimed that the doctors were in possession of Bibles translated into Dari, the local language. "Yesterday - he said - " one of our patrols confronted a group of foreigners. They were Christian missionaries and we killed them all". He added that they were "American spies" and that they were looking for information on extremist strongholds.
Dirk Frans has strongly denied this claim: "We have been working in Afghanistan since 1966. They know that we are a Christian institution, but we certainly do not distribute Bibles". He added that all of the victims were doctors and that IAM only provides medical assistance.
The names of the eight victims are already known but have not yet been made public. They include six Americans, a Briton and a German. The bodies have been transferred to Kabul. The group's leaders, said Frans, had worked in Afghanistan for decades.
The region of Badakhshan, bordering Tajikistan, is one of the few regions of Afghanistan that the U.S. has stolen control of from the Taliban after the 2001 invasion. The region is considered safe, although the local population has shown signs of revolt in recent times.

I am positive that these murdered aid workers had the exact same experience right up to the moment they were machine gunned to death. Doesn’t it EVER make you wonder how the “good” muslims can just sit back and witness atrocity after atrocity done in the name of their precious faith against those that want only to help and remain silent? To do nothing in defense of their faith and their (infidel) friends? "We are heartbroken by the loss of these heroic, generous people," U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in Washington. She condemned the Taliban for the deaths and what she called a "transparent attempt to justify the unjustifiable by making false accusations about their activities."
The term "false accusations" suggests that the aid workers were suspected of committing a crime. Even if they shared the Bible teachings with patients, that shouldn't be a capital offense.
This is so sad and a total waste of educated fine human beings. I know the herculean efforts it takes to become a doctor, an effort I couldn't make.
I consider this another deadly incident where the failure to recognize the workings of the cultists of death. there is information out there but there are also fools who refuse to read it, and those who try to hide it.
What if these doctors and millions of other victims of the death cult had recognized and known islam for what it is? Would they have gone to this islamic hell hole to do good? Hell no unless they were accompanyed by a company of marines who are armed to the teeth with cobra helocopters flying over head as guards. If they were only reguler readers of jihad watch and other similiar sites that tells it like it is. They would have known and acted accordingly. They would have been safe and sound. Perhaps they would have gone to one of the many countries that respects them and is gratefull for their efforts.

I find it amazing that this family stayed in war-torn Afghanistan for 30 years. They must have become very familiar with the Muslim culture and accepted the fact that their lives were often at risk. I never met Tom Little but I attended his church in upstate New York a number of years ago.

This story illustrates one of the many differences between Christianity and Muslimism. Christians are commanded to love and do good to their neighbor, Muslimism isn't, killing, robbing and exploiting your neighbor is good enough and is based entirely on hatred of God and man.

It is pointless and useless to help the afghanis in any way. They will only praise their allah for providing them aid, not the west. the west will still be hated.
