The militant group has attacked aid workers in the country before, and an outbreak of violence could complicate a relief effort that has already struggled to reach the 8 million people who are in need of emergency assistance.
Pakistani Taliban spokesman Azam Tariq claimed the U.S. and other countries that have pledged support are not really focused on providing aid to flood victims but had other motives he did not specify.
"Behind the scenes they have certain intentions, but on the face they are talking of relief and help," Tariq told The Associated Press by telephone from an undisclosed location. "No relief is reaching the affected people, and when the victims are not receiving help, then this horde of foreigners is not acceptable to us at all."
By "certain intentions," he almost definitely means proselytizing, which the Taliban are quick to allege, and have already killed for. But aid workers need not utter a word to potentially provoke second thoughts about the sheer, unabashed evil the Qur'an attributes to non-believers.
He strongly hinted that the militants could resort to violence, saying "when we say something is unacceptable to us, one can draw one's own conclusion."
No kidding.
U.N. humanitarian chief John Holmes said the U.N. remained committed to helping flood victims in Pakistan.
"We will obviously take these threats seriously as we did before, and take appropriate precautions, but we will not be deterred from doing what we believe we need to do which is help the people of Pakistan ... who have been affected by the flood," he told a news conference at U.N. headquarters in New York.
Holmes noted that the Pakistani Taliban carried out a suicide attack against the office of the U.N.'s World Food Program in Islamabad last October, killing five staffers, and in March, militants attacked the offices of World Vision, a U.S.-based Christian aid group helping earthquake survivors in northwestern Pakistan, killing six Pakistani employees.
He said U.N. security experts will be working with U.N. agencies and international organizations "to assess what the risks are and to minimize them."
U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said Washington is also taking the threat of attacks by militants seriously.
"We have information of the potential targeting of foreign relief workers in Pakistan, as well as government ministries," Crowley told reporters in Washington, adding, "It just underscores the bankrupt vision that these extremists have and we are conscious of that threat."...

"365 Taliban Leaders Killed"

Berlin - Special forces of the Nato-led military coalition in Afghanistan have killed 365 Taliban leaders over the past three months, German news magazine Der Spiegel said in its online edition on Thursday.
The elite troops, mainly from the US, killed the insurgents in commando operations between May 8 and August 8, said the magazine quoting a confidential International Security Assistance Force briefing.
During the same period 1 395 suspects were arrested, according to the briefing to diplomats and military leaders.
In June the former US commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, told the media that US special forces, whose number have almost tripled in a year, killed or captured 121 leading Taliban over the three previous months.
McChrystal was forced to retire after making scathing comments to a magazine about the Barack Obama administration.
The special forces are equipped with helicopters, planes and drones, and mostly act at night to deprive the Taliban of their leadership, according to press reports.
McChrystal's successor, US General David Petraeus, said on Monday that the international troops he commands in Afghanistan had turned the tide on the Taliban's "momentum" there, although he warned tough battles still lay ahead.
In an interview with the BBC, he also played down the prospect of a rapid withdrawal of US troops next year, repeating his insistence that Obama's target of July 2011 was only a "date when a process begins".

Harsh as it may sound, I will not give a penny to the flood victims.
Why ? Because I don't care if millions of them die. In just the same way that they would not care if millions of Christians died in a similiar catastrophe. In fact I think they would have a celebration.
I think those giving money to these sons and daughters of Islam are well meaning fools. The West once again shows its compassion whilst the Saudis etc come up "a dollar short and a day late". If these compassionate, peaceful Muslims show little regard for thier own kind, why the hell should we ? Then the Taliban say they will murder the well meaning fools supplying the aid. The old maxim that "no good deed goes unpunished" surely applies here.

Actually, I doubt this particularly sdisturbs them at all. When Muslims talk about being "compassionate to one another", all that means is that—unlike with Infidels, they will not attempt to out-right murder each other. Unless, of course, the are other-sect Muslims, or are deemed to be "Insufficiently Islamic".
Mostly, even when it comes to Muslims in need, they leave the offers of charity, the rescues from natural disasters, and the building of hospitals and orphanages to the filthy Kufr.
