What the Great Equivocator thinks is tolerance and religious freedom is, in effect, the slow extinction of creeds other than Islamic--either through crushing civil disabilities and second-class citizenship imposed, to greater or lesser degree, on non-muslims wherever Muslims rule, or through an indifference that perfectly mirrors the profound enthusiasm Barack Hussein has for Islam.

How about religious freedom in Saudi Arabia and throughout the Muslim world, Mr. Obama? Why don't you address that issue? Whether ignoramus or coward, you can't be absolved here.

Again we see we have a President who delights in invoking American freedoms as a way of shaming Americans who disagree with him, never mind the reason why he invokes this cheap and ignorant condemnation is to make yet more excuses for an ideology which doesn't allow for any real freedom at all. Bush didn't get Islam and made too many apologies for it to be sure, but Obama is far worse than Bush; he's a direct enabler.

Please, spare me any arguments to the effect that medieval Islam preserved ancient Greek wisdom; almost all such wisdom would have been preserved anyway, and in any case it was antithetical to Islamic doctrine, which has NEVER allowed for free discourse into explorations of the cosmos without preconditions a la the Greek approach. I have developed a suspicion that before Rauf and company announced plans for their insult to America they already had some assurance that there would be no opposition from the White House. Obama might not go so far as to stand side by side with Rauf at a press conference pushing for the project, but he won't throw up any roadblocks either. Based on Rauf's State Dept. sponsored phoney baloney outreach tour to various Islamic countries it is obvious that this guy is pretty well connected in D.C.

"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country," Obama said, weighing in for the first time on a controversy that has riven New York City and the nation.

The White House had not previously taken a stand on the mosque, which would be part of a $100 million Islamic center two blocks from where nearly 3,000 people perished when hijacked jetliners slammed into the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001. Press secretary Robert Gibbs had insisted it was a local matter.

It was already much more than that, sparking debate around the country as top Republicans including Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich announced their opposition. So did the Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish civil rights group.

Obama elevated it to a presidential issue Friday without equivocation.

While insisting that the place where the twin towers once stood was indeed "hallowed ground," Obama said that the proper way to honor it was to apply American values.

"Our capacity to show not merely tolerance, but respect towards those who are different from us — and that way of life, that quintessentially American creed, stands in stark contrast to the nihilism of those who attacked us on that September morning, and who continue to plot against us today," he said.

Obama harkened back to earlier times when the building of synagogues or Catholic churches also met with opposition. With this move Obama is honoring the religion of Islam.

With this move Obama is in effect telling both Muslims and non-Muslims that he approves of the religion and what it entails.

This has a tragic two prong effect. It entrenches the legitimacy of Islam in the minds of Muslims, and it sends a message to non-Muslims that Islam is a religion worthy of respect.

In reality, Islam is an exceptionally dangerous and harmful religion. The fundamental claims of Islam are wholly untrue. Muhammad was not the messenger of god. Allah is not god. Muhammad was an insane, evil liar. Muhammad merely lifted and re-worked stories from Judaism and Christianity and combined them with Arabian folk lore to create Islam. Once again President Obama thumbs his nose at the majority of the American people,ignoring the fact that building this particular mosque near ground zero is a desecration of a hollowed ground of the thousands who died there at the hands of Muslims following the teachings of Islam toward the infidel state.

Their elitist arrogance is beginning to reach a boiling point with the majority of American voters as they continue to violate the trust and the will of the people on issue after issue. From the stimulus money,thousands of earmarks that Obama said would not be in any bills,a healthcare bill that the majority of Americans are opposed to,more stimulus for unions only over private sector companies, a cap and trade bill that Americans are opposed to,ignoring the will of the American people and Arizona on Illegal immigration,suing Arizona for trying to defend its borders, and now in support of an in your face mega mosque at ground zero. This November can not come soon enough and 2012 as well.

Religious freedom was a great idea when 90% of the population were schooled as either Presbyterians, Congregationalists, Episcopalians, Dutch Reformed (Ek ben van Nieuw Jersey), German Reformed, or Huguenot, and all the major denominations more or less had buried the hatchet with the Great Awakening of the 1750's. With the most radical dissenters being Desits, Anabaptists, Quakers, Roman Catholics, and a smattering of Jews in RI, NY, and SC, plus the state having a minimal role in the allocation of resources, the Free Exercise Clause was probably non-problematic.

Even when you had people threatening each other with Hellfire if they didn't repent, you didn't haave much of a problem, as long as nobody was hurrying his neighbor down the path to Hell.

Indeed, the Free Exercise Clause doesn't really come into play in American Constitutional Jurisprudence until the mid-nineteenth century, when the Mormon cases raised the issue of polygamy (and Mormon polygamy was NOT upheld).

At the same time, even after the US Constitution and Bill of Rights were adopted, a man could still go to jail for blaspheming against the name of Jesus Christ--and this case did not get to the Supreme Court (Ruggles v. NY, 1811).

The openly political aspect of Islam is now likely to provide the largest Constitutional crisis in the history of First Amendment jurisprudence. And this happens at a time when the legal elite views "separationism" as appropriate when dealing with Christian claims, while "accommodation" is for cults like Islam and the Church of the Lukumi Babalu Aye.

Hence, my big worry isn't Obama in the White House, but Kagan, Ginsberg, and a few other Leftists on the Supreme Court dealing with sharia-related cases to come.

Over at atlasshrugs, I heard word that some folks who are planning to attend the 9/11 protest rally in New York City, are organising a freedom convoy, a 'Stars and Stripes Caravan': they're going to travel together, picking up people as they go along, all the way from the west coast to the east coast.

I'm hoping and praying that the Stars and Stripes Caravan garners a huuuge turnout.

Looks to me, if they do get sufficient numbers to make an impressive-looking convoy, that they should take a loop through Washington on the way to NYC...just to make a point. Imagine thousands of cars, trucks and Harley-Davidsons roaring on past the front of the White House. That's what *I'd* like to see.

Drive slooowly past the White House; deliver a petition against Sharia, to the denizens of the Capitol; and stop off briefly near the Pentagon so a party of mourners can lay a pile of wreaths at the memorial to those who were murdered *there* on 11 September 2001.

Some time ago, as protests about the 9/11 Jihad Victory Mosque were being discussed, I suggested - here and at Atlas Shrugs - that 3000 people should volunteer to attend the rally as representatives of the dead... to be 'ghosts', dressed in white or in black. Each person would wear a sash with the name of the specific, particular murdered person that he or she is representing, and a slogan such as 'Jihadists Killed Me. Resist Jihad!' 'Sharia-Pushers Killed Me. Reject Sharia!'; each would also carry a flag showing the nationality of that murderee (so, for example, amidst a sea of American flags, 2600 to be exact, one would also see 67 Union Jacks, 41 Indian flags, 24 Canadian flags, and eleven Aussie flags, and so on).

Well: I think that idea can be extended. It would make a very eerie, eye-catching shot to have those 3000 'ghosts' photographed standing right next to Ground Zero - and, especially, standing right next to the proposed 9/11 Jihad Victory mosque; but ...there's somewhere else they could also make their statement.

Like: out front of the White House, on November 2nd, The Day of the Dead, holding a sit-in to condemn Obama's utterly despicable approval of the mosque.

THE PRESIDENT: Please be seated. Thank you. Welcome to the White House. This is the fifth year in a row that it's been my honor to host an Iftaar in the State Dining Room.

Our distinguished guests represent the millions of Muslims that we're proud to call Americans, and many Islamic nations are represented here that America is proud to call friend. We welcome the representatives from many countries with large Muslim populations. I want to thank you all for coming to celebrate an honored tradition of the Muslim faith, and wish you a, "Ramadan Mubarak."

I want to thank those in my administration who have joined us. I want to thank the Imam for joining us today, and thank you for leading us in prayer after these short remarks. I want to thank all the ambassadors from the Organization of the Islamic Conference. I welcome other members of the Diplomatic Corps. And I want to thank the Muslim -- American Muslim leaders who are with us today. Thanks for taking time out to celebrate this important dinner.

Ramadan is the holiest time of the Muslim year. According to Islamic teaching, this month commemorates the revelation of God's word to the Prophet Muhammad in the form of the Koran. For more than a billion Muslims, Ramadan is a time of heartfelt prayer and togetherness. It is a time of fasting and personal sacrifice. It's a time to give thanks for God's blessings through works of charity.

One Muslim leader said: "It's a national and Islamic obligation to assist one's neighbors when they are in need." The American people saw that spirit as we recovered from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The world sees that spirit, that compassion of Islam, through the countless acts of kindness following the recent earthquake in southeast -- in South Asia.

America is fortunate to count such good-hearted men and women among our fellow citizens. We have great respect for the commitment that all Muslims make to faith, family, and education. And Americans of many backgrounds seek to learn more about the rich tradition of Islam. To promote greater understanding between our cultures, I have encouraged American families to travel abroad, to visit with Muslim families. And I have encouraged American families to host exchange students from the Muslim world. I have asked young Americans to study the language and customs of the broader Middle East. And for the first time in our nation's history, we have added a Koran to the White House Library. (Applause.)

All of us gathered tonight share a conviction that America must remain a welcoming and tolerant land, in which our people are free to practice any faith they choose. We reject every form of ethnic and religious discrimination. As I said in my second Inaugural Address, we cannot carry the message of freedom and the baggage of bigotry at the same time.

We also share a common hope for the future -- that our children and grandchildren will grow up in a safer and more peaceful world. Delivering on that promise to future generations requires action from our generation. We must stand confidently in the cause of freedom -- including the freedom of people everywhere to practice their faith in peace. We must also firmly oppose all who commit evil in God's name. I am grateful to the Muslim nations that have joined our coalition in the war on terror -- including many nations that have been victims of terror themselves.

As we work together to defeat the terrorists, we must be very clear about the enemies we face. The killers who take the lives of innocent men, women, and children are followers of a violent ideology very different from the religion of Islam. These extremists distort the idea of jihad into a call for terrorist murder against anyone who does not share their radical vision, including Muslims from other traditions, who they regard as heretics.

Their strategy will fail. Many Muslim scholars have already publicly condemned terrorism, often citing chapter 5, verse 32 of the Koran, which states that killing an innocent human being is like killing all of humanity, and saving the life of one person is like saving all of humanity. I appreciate those of you here who have joined these scholars in rejecting violent extremists. And I believe the time has come for all responsible Islamic leaders to denounce an ideology that exploits Islam for political ends, and defiles your noble faith.

I have great confidence in the future of this nation, and in the future of the Muslim world. I have been inspired by the courage of people in Afghanistan and Iraq, where Muslims are celebrating Ramadan in two of the world's newest democracies. I believe that people of every religious and ethnic background have the right and the desire to be free. And I believe that the spread of freedom and justice and tolerance in the broader Middle East will lead to the peace that we all seek.

As we celebrate this special Iftaar, we renew the ties of friendship that bind all those who trace their faith back to God's call on Abraham. We recognize the many hopeful works we have achieved together. We look forward to learning more from each other in the years ahead.

I'm so grateful that you joined us today. I wish you a blessed Ramadan, and may God bless you all. (Applause.)

So, the President is illegally promoting one religion (Islam) in his domestic and foreign policy, and even enforcing the Ramadan fast at the White House? Big Zero has to show his allegiance to his religion. Was anything else expected from him? How can some one not raised in this country up to the age of 10 or 11 and the spends 20 years in Wright's "church" and claiming he never ever heard those vile remarks by Wright during those 20 years, be expected to be loyal to this country. He despises everything this country stands for, his values are not American and hence he is systematically trying to destroy everything from within.

Next election, Americans can show who is the boss by throwing all these bums out!!!

Just so. Liberals always try to expand the meanings of the constitutional amendments to fit their sucker-hearted perspective. There are already 30 mosques in NYC, I understand, and stopping this one would in no way diminish or obstruct Islam or prevent the building of another mosque some place else. At the 9/11 site it would be viewed by most of the Muslim world as a symbol of triumph and will eventually be an important strategic jihad planning site after a few PR stunts.

Rev. Franklin Graham, the evangelical minister who was disinvited by Obama from a Pentagon prayer service after concerns arose regarding his past offensive comments about Islam, is now accusing President Obama of "giving Islam a pass."

In an interview with Newsmax Television, Graham was asked if he though there was a "pattern of hostility to traditional Christianity by the Obama administration."

"I don't know if it's exactly from President Obama," Graham responded, "but I'm certain that some of the men around him are very much opposed to what we stand for and what we believe."

Graham continued, "It seems as though Muslims are getting a pass"

Rev. Graham was then asked by the host about mounting "secular oppression" in the United States.

"No question, it's coming," Graham says. "I think when you preach that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the light, I think we're going to see, one day, people will say this is hate speech."
