They conspired to create mass mayhem by blowing up "buildings, fuel tanks and pipelines at the airport" -- in the name of Allah. "Two men guilty in New York airport bomb plot case," from Reuters, August 2 (thanks to Davida):
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Two Islamist militants were found guilty on Monday by a federal jury in New York of plotting to bomb the city's John F. Kennedy International Airport.Russell Defreitas, 67, a U.S. citizen born in Guyana, and Abdul Kadir, 58, of Guyana, conspired to blow up buildings, fuel tanks and pipelines at the airport in the New York City borough of Queens. They were arrested in June 2007.
Defreitas, a former employee at the airport, provided knowledge of its facilities and layout, U.S. prosecutors said, while Kadir, an engineer, helped with technical aspects such as how to blow up the buried fuel pipelines....

Instead of this jihad nonsense, these Caribbean should have headed North to the recently concluded Toronto Caribana to get a glimpse of the beautiful, gyrating, scantily clad females, and get down.
Thanks, Faye

Apparently, Imam Faisal missed these guys with his message of peace...
"..while Kadir, an engineer, helped with technical aspects such as how to blow up the buried fuel pipelines...."
And that's what education is all about...at least in Islam.
Incredible Survey..دين الجاهلية..Enquête Incroyable (video)

I'm in favor of subjecting such Islamic terrorist to the same penalties they would have received if they were successful in their attempts. Why give them credit because they failed? I can't understand punishing them with any penalty less than capital punishment. I certainly see no reason for the US taxpayers, many of whom they planned to kill, to support an expensive prison life for them - hardly much of a deterrence for Islamic fanatics.
I landed at LaGuardia in NY the other day and as you leave the secure area, there is just a guy there making sure that all the traffic is going OUT and that no one is going IN. (Actually I think this is the way it is done at all airports.) There was an incident a few months ago where a guy in that position stepped away and a love-sick Chinese guy went in to say good bye to his girlfriend. Airport was shut down for hours.
So my question is - what happens when (not IF, but WHEN), in the spirit of inclusiveness and resistance to "racism" and "Islamophobia," a Muslim is placed in that position? Simply by "looking the other way" for a few seconds, any manner of guns or explosives could be introduced to the secure area, simply bypassing all of the elaborate X-ray, scanner, and sniffer machines that we have paid millions for. Like 9/11, a low-tech exploitation of an obvious weak point is all that it will take.
People, there are greater things that have been happenning than two misunderstanders of Islam - if you will permit me a moment of your time.
Pakistan has the had the worst floods for 80 years, over 2 million people have been left homeless and more than 1100 have been killed so far (and further rainfall is predicted). The dead include lots of women and children too.
Clearly we have invoked Allah's wrath but this is to be discussed another day.

How much have the Saudis given???
There's a difference between tragedy and criminal behavior. The former is ordinarily unavoidable while the latter is always avoidable. Muslims, all Muslims, should only be ashamed of all the criminal behavior the Islamic world perpetrates in the name of Islam. After all, how much criminal behavior is perpetrated in the name of Buddhism or Methodism?
What a burden to all the world Islam is and you're absolutely clueless about this, trying as you have in your post above to deflect attention from yet more criminal behvior by Muslims in the name of their deeply warped belief system. Shame on you. Oh, by the way, tactics like yours are working less and less with each passing year as more and more non-Muslims across the entire world continue to get their fill of Islam.
I'm sure that the Saudis are making plans to send plenty of Qur'ans in case anyone feels like begging Allah for a life raft.
Drat! There seems to be no mention of life rafts in the Qur'an!
How much has the Taliban given?..
Or the moderate Muslims of Indonesia?
Or the believers of Gaza?
Or the Islamic faithful of Iran?
Or the American Muslims of Dearborn or Minneapolis?
Or CAIR?
Or Hamas?
Or Hizbollah?
Or al-SHabaab?
Or the crew with Choudary?
Muslims alway look after their own...right?...

The ploy to donate to the tragedy in Pakistan will not work. The time has past for this American to have sympathy for any tragedy in the Muslim world.
Past tragedies such as earthquakes in Pakistan have shown no appreciation for donations, or efforts of assistance.
Much better to donate funds to SIOA, Jihad Watch, Geert Wilders etc, than to donate to Pakistan in this instance.
Weavo2 - Much better to donate funds to SIOA, Jihad Watch, Geert Wilders etc, than to donate to Pakistan in this instance.
So humanity means nothing to you. Right now, there will be ordinary people who will be cold, hungry and holding onto a dead child or grandmother.
How can you be so cold and callous hearted, sitting there in a heated room on a comfy chair munching something that your body does not need and typing that pathetic stuff on your PC.
Don't pictures of those grief stricken people move you at all , if they don't - you are a miserable excuse for a human being.
roland
I am not sure why you see a flood as pointing to a wrathful Allah when (1) Allah was a creation of Mohammed's (may he even yet realize that the Lord loves him) mind, in other words an idol and (2) the Divine by contrast is not full of wrath, although to Muslims if they see wrath in the Divine it is because it exists in them.
Also what information is added by qualifying the count of 1100 dead to the effect it includes lots of women and children. One hopes in lives cut short they made some choices for good despite living in the ignorance of Islam and are therefore being of useful service to the Divine.
Some of that $100m that is going to the mosque near Ground Zero might come in handy. So Daisy and Rauf how about doing the right thing and spending the money in the flood region.
Wowsher - Some of that $100m that is going to the mosque near Ground Zero might come in handy. So Daisy and Rauf how about doing the right thing and spending the money in the flood region.
Come on you know better than that! They are gonna need all that revenue and more to get the mosque built. Please don't associate the two, but knowing muslims like I do, I think they wll be very generous to the floods; It's just the kindof thing that I think Daisy wuld warm to.
OT, but for those who wonder about funds to Pakistan, the following article gives an idea where some of the funds to Pakistan end up being used.

@ Roland,
Did pictures of the destruction and grief of the 9/11 islamic attack on America move you at all? Those were ordinary, innocent people, too.
I think it's reasonable to say that most people don't celebrate any kind-of tragedy. I also think it's reasonable to accept that islam has left callouses on millions of hearts in this world. Deal with it.
Roland,
How much do you care about the suffering and loss of life the zombies of islam cause when they walk into crowded shopping areas and detonate killing unsuspecting innocent people? How much really I want to know. How much feeling do you have for women stoned to death because her rapist failed to bring 4 upright men with him to witness the rape. How much sympathy do you feel for the 5 Christians who were killed in cold blood leaving a church service in Pakistan? How much are you donating to their families. Islam has murdered many more people than the flood has. You miserable human being!
dsinc, it's more like Guyanese jihad. We caught these two fellows, but we will only be seeing more mischief from a rapidly Islamizing Guyana funded by Iranian and North American Muslims:

Oh, good grief.
Muslims themselves have better things to do with their Zakat than save flood victims—like funding Da'wa and Jihad terror.
So, Infidels will come to the rescue. It's the hated Kufr who *always* come to the rescue.
Note that "roland" shows he is a true Mohammedan—even when he is asking for aid, he is all too ready to insult the very people he's beseeching.
Notice, also, his implication that Weavo2 is a selfish, hard-hearted American. Nothing could be further from the truth—Westerners are the most generous people in the world, and Americans are the most generous Westerners.
I already gave my annual alms payment to the Islamic world last April 15th.
Besides, my feelings of sympathy and sorrow for the flood victims hardly matter. If Allah wills it, they will survive this misfortune. But if Allah wills otherwise, then no amount of aid from me can help them.
WooO! I beat RSpence to a story!
http://honestyinmotion.blogspot.com/2010/08/brazilian-pres-offers-sanctuary-to.html
In all seriousness though, it is nice to see a Western(ish) country put the onus on Iran, not that it will make any difference with the mullahs. More importantly, how sad is it that Brazil's president is on top of this, while ours is silent?
Somehow, this ended up in the wrong thread. Still!
As far as these JFK dumbasses are concerned, got to love the Guayana angle. Nope, no harm in thousands of over-educated, under-employed young Muslims in a backwards economy. None at all.
You have just got to stare at roland's absolute shamelessness.
In a thread in which we are contemplating the sentencing of two Muslim men who were caught conspiring to horribly mass-murder thousands and thousands of American non-Muslims - in order, at bottom, to 'punish' said non-Muslims for the dreadful offence of 'breathing while non-Muslim', 'roland' pops up and whines and squawks and DEMANDS - that non-Muslims must give money to help the poor, poor Muslims who are being flooded out in Pakistan (at least in part, I'll bet, because of deforestation and devegetation and the apathetic, fatalistic refusal to do anything much about maintaining infrastructure, that generally obtain wherever Muslims reside).
There *are* Pakistani non-Muslims suffering in these floods; I will probably find some way to help them, through secure channels that I do not intend to mention here, rather than waste money on ungrateful supremacist Muslims who in general regard themselves as entitled to everything we kafir possess, and then some; who will never say thank you but will rather squawk 'gimme!' and 'more ! more ! more!'; and who, even if we did give lavish alms, would still go right on hating us and plotting to kill or enslave us all and steal all our stuff for themselves. And who, if the positions were reversed - if *we* were desperately in need, and *they* had wealth, would never lift a finger nor offer a cent to help, but would - instead - gloat obscenely at the sight of our sufferings. I can remember that when the terrible bushfires happened in southern Australia in 2009, there were Muslim websites where the Muslims were simply crowing for joy at the spectacle of non-Muslim suffering.
The corresponding New York Times article has over 1000 words and 24 paragraphs.
The letters "Islam" do NOT appear in the article (Islam, Islamic, Islamist, etc.)
The letters "Muslim" appear only twice (that's 0.2% of the article) -- once in paragraph 14 (indirect quote of a defense attorney) and once in paragraph 17 -- the only semi-direct suggestion in the entire article that (one of) the defendants (Russell Defreitas) is Muslim -- you can't tell by the name.
The New York Times makes no suggestion (direct, indirect, or even remote) that the other defendant (Abdul Kadir) is also Muslim -- the only hint to the reader is that Abdul Kadir is a Muslim name.
In addition, the word "terrorism" or "terrorist plot" was used 5 times.
However, the convicted men were not once called "terrorists."
The convicted terrorists were only referred to with "soft words": "men," "defendants," "immigrant," citizen," "handler," "extremist", "figure," "conspirator," and "militant."
Meanwhile, the NYT used the words "Guyana or Guyanese" 3 times -- in paragraphs 1, 7, and 17 -- in positions much more prominent than for the two uses of "Muslim."
Hence, the NYT conveys that these are Guyanese nationals who just happen to be Muslim, rather than the obvious case: these are Muslims who just happen to be Guyanese.
It's clearly politically incorrect for the NYT to suggest that Islam has anything to do with this case, or to observe that Islam can trump Nationalism in the beliefs and loyalties of its adherents.
The New York Times is afraid to identify the problem.
Billions of dollars are flowing from the coffers of America and Europe to pakistan to fight war against terror. This money is going to the very terrorists to kill the western soldiers. The floods are really a disaster caused by nature and not man made disaster as islam often commits. Inshaallah the people will come out of the tragedy allah is testing you before you land up in paradise. I am sure the ummah will be ever ready to help another brother in need.
On a second thought i donated money to a orphanage where the children are taught love and compassion.
roland The taliban brothers have stopped doing allah and mohammadan job for a few days
http://ibnlive.in.com/generalnewsfeed/news/taliban-suspends-attacks-in-floodaffected-areas/194724.html
Where's all the muslim zakat ( tithing, donation, charity) that is reserved ONLY for other muslims?
We all know how very generous muslims have been helping out non-muslims during disasters. (sarcasm off)
If you need donations, look at your zakat first.
The BBC-online seems barely to identify the problem in its version of this story. During the whole article using many names commonly associated as Muslim, the BBC not once mentions Muslims, Mohammad, or Islam...
with a single exception...
Kadir, 58, told the court that he had warned the plotters that Islam "does not support aggression or killing innocent people".
It's almost a non sequitur, but is is free advertising for Islam given apparently gratuitously. BBC also includes a really nice photograph of Kadir, smiling brightly. If you didn't know any better, you might feel that this is the kind of guy you might want for a neighbor...until you found out that he plotted terrorism with al Qaeda's help, intent on killing many and disrupting the US economy, and was stopped only by the investigative efforts of police acting on an informant's coöperation.
Read it yourself:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-10846189
The same is true -- that is, the mention, only deep in the story, and only once or twice obliquely, of "Islam" -- in the New York Times coverage. And the writer knows perfectly well that unless DeFreitas is accurately described as a Muslim convert -- if that information is left out -- then those who know little will still not be quite aware of what those plotters were about. As for quoting the Qur'anic passages that prompted them, in order to make their behavior understandable -- that isn't in the story in today's New York Times, and never has been in similar stories, and I suppose never will be, the Times now being what the Times now is.
