Got to watch out for those "Chicago men," especially during yet another long summer of frustration at Wrigley, as Sweet Lou Piniella has ridden off into the sunset with no end in sight for the Cub Fan's frustration. It would drive anyone to plant a bomb, now, wouldn't it? Wouldn't it? "Chicago Man Charged by U.S. in Plot to Bomb City's North-Side Neighborhood," by Andrew M. Harris for Bloomberg, September 20 (thanks to all who sent this in):
A 22-year-old Chicago man was charged by federal prosecutors with plotting to detonate a bomb near Wrigley Field, home to the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball team.Sami Samir Hassoun, who is identified in a statement by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Lebanese-born Chicago resident, was arrested yesterday by members of the local Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Hassoun is charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and with trying to destroy real property using an explosive, according to court papers. He is due to make his initial court appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Cox in Chicago today, according to Randall Samborn, a spokesman for Chicago U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald.
Hassoun early yesterday morning planted an inert device given to him by an FBI informant, which he was told was a bomb, in a trashcan south of Wrigley Field, according to the government. Prosecutors alleged that he intended to injure people frequenting neighborhood bars and clubs, according to a complaint filed at the federal courthouse....
You know how those "Chicago men" hate bars and clubs.

It's like reading the posts here at JWatch.
Nobody is falling for the "religion of peace" bullshit any longer.
He had other ideas too, like poisining Lake Michigan and bringing down a skyscraper filled with hard working Americans.
Nothing says HOLY to a muhammadan like mass murder.
That's what happens to people when they drink the poison known as the koran.

Somehow, I doubt we can just assume he's an ardent White Sox fan...sarc/off
I dont know if this guy is all that bad…I mean with the way the Cubs played this year, maybe he’s just a die-hard cubbie fan.
And then there are many people including chicago city employee’s that may have thought of different ways to get Mayor Daley to resign (btw- he has announced his retirement from office last week)
On a serious note, he’s lucky the FBI got him and not the CPD, because the CPD dont play games like some law enforcement agencies.
@graven... could be a sox fan but not, he's to far north.
I wonder if he was Muslim. /sarc off
I've always been a die hard Cubs fan. But I never thought that it would be a hard way to die.
@ Ernie..."lets play 2"
today its "Chigago man". Yesterday it was "street cleaners" trying to kill the pope. I've heard:
asians
youths
fundamentalist
extremeist
radicals
more times than I can count.
Is there a list of all the adjectives the media uses to describe MUSLIMS in their acticles? Its getting almost comical now to see the lengths reporters will go through to keep from decribing muslim as MUSLIM. Lets hear from everyone all the different names you can think of the media has done this with. I'm curious.
Not surprising. Islam is a violent, irrational system.
Oops, did I type that outloud?
I must be an "Islamophobe".
Maybe he learned his craft from "Chicago Man" Bill Ayers?
As a loyal New Englander, I suspect a deranged Yankee fan.

I've noticed that lately, too. Very, very heartening.
Exactly. Too bad there are still plenty out there who hate America for whatever reason and will side with the religion of pieces over their own fellow citizens. Many of them are vote-whoring political figures.
We'll just have to keep on punching.
I have noticed that people at work, people in the grocery store, everywhere are starting to talk more openly about the Islmization of America and THEY DONT CARE FOR IT!!!
I too have noticed a new awareness, even among people I never would have thought kept up with news.
@Jason, miscreants.
OT--
Has anyone heard about an "Israeli man" arrested for stabbing people in the U.S.? The Fox news report said he may be responsible for crimes in several states.
A co-worker today said that the guy is an Arab Israeli, but I can't find the story anywhere detailing his background.
A Texas father accused of shooting his three children to death as they slept had previously threatened to kill or hurt himself if he lost visitation rights, an attorney said.
OK, here's another story of a "Texas man" who killed his children (Fox News):
After Mohammed Goher's two daughters, ages 14 and 7, and a 12-year-old son were killed Sunday, authorities said Goher shot himself in the mouth in an apparent suicide attempt. He was in fair condition Monday at Ben Taub Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Goher was charged with three counts of capital murder, said Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Jamie Wagner. It was unknown whether he had an attorney.
He is divorced from the children's mother, Norma Goher, but had court-ordered visitation rights, according to the statement. Records show he was convicted in 2006 of beating his wife, who lived in a shelter for battered women.
More at Fox News' site.
"I have noticed that people at work, people in the grocery store, everywhere are starting to talk more openly about the Islamization of America and THEY DON'T CARE FOR IT!!!"
Examples of comment just read on yahoo comments for this story:
"Islam isn't a religion, it's a mental illness."
and
"OK Libs now tell us again how Islam's peaceful and they gave us algebra 1000 years ago."
and
"How come this headline doesn't read: "Muslim man arrested in Chicago for planting fake bomb"?
You get the idea. People are waking up and not buying the BS anymore. Very heartening.
It wasn't like that a little over 6 months ago. I remember there was only a handful of us who stood up for Israel and spoke the truth about muslims & islam. We were absolutely brutalized for it. But that was Yahoo Canada before they shut it down. One wouldn't think Yahoo Canada & US would be that different.
Anyway, when i visited Yahoo a couple of weeks ago I could not believe my eyes. There are incredibly informed people posting the truth about islam and the majority of the posters are on our side and fighting the good fight. It did my heart good to see it.

If reports are correct, he's a Greek Orthodox Arab (same as George Habash, founder of the PFLP). Muslims are not responsible for ALL the shit in the world.
Everyone should be talking about it and doing something about it. There are many ways to stop this however people that don't care or think there is no threat are too busy getting the latest ring tone, watching hours of mindless info on the tube and the net. People are more interested in Lindsay Lohan or dancing with the stars. They get their info from the msm for 5 mins per day and think all is well. I am sure we are all thankful for the people that are bringing this to our attention, it is sickening.
so true, I feel the same, nobody cares!
That poor 'Chicago man'. Now he's been humiliated, and we all know what happens when such as he are humiliated...
But the FBI can tell the naughty agencies that promote waterboarding that this won't be needed. All that will be necesary is a big platter of crisp bacon...in its own grease.
Cheer up, Susan :)
I've gotten some chat with strangers with my back-window-painting. So far, no one has expressed any disagreement, and I've even gotten driveby thumbs up, on the highway.
But you are right, more indignation should be visible. Mine is crude, but it is an icebreaker. It also takes about five minutes, and all one needs is white shoe polish.
@JJ,
Who is Lindsay Lohan? ;)
My family and I watched the news story last night on Channel 7/ABC. The reporter ended by saying, "Hassoun was not motivated by any ideology." We all laughed incredulously. How stupid do the newscasters think the public is? EVERY terrorist is motivated by an ideology, even the Unabomber.
When will people wake up and see that terrorism is a weapon USED BY groups with ideology? We need to say the name of these groups out loud in order to address their tactics.
I don't know if this will ever come to light, but I bet this guy did make a statement explaining his ideology when he was arrested....possibly, he even made videos of himself espousing his philosophy. The FBI may have buried all that in an effort to deny him the soapbox he craves.
But I think it is more likely that information will be deep-sixed because the media doesn't want to have to explain yet another guy who publicly embraces jihad...a very inconvenient truth that they're running out of excuses for.
I am just wondering could the fact that George Will is a great Cubs fan have anything to do with this jihad attack?
Oh come on! He's just a disgruntled White Sox fan upset that, in a role reversal, the Cubs have had a good September and the White Sox are playing like the Cubs!
I just read the FBI complaint against Hassoun that was filed in federal court. It's interesting that he was said to not have any ideological motive. In the complaint, he tells the undercover agents that he received supplies for bomb-making from relatives in Lebanon.
Also, he films himself casing the target area, and he asks a woman where the most popular areas are. She confirms what he already knows, and then he says, on tape, "It is as if God is opening a way."
That sounds REALLY familiar. Does anyone have a citation for that phrase? If so, please post.
Like Mary E., I am a Chicagoan. (Get out of the SW side, Mary, run, run *lol*)
Anyway, news radio this morning WLS & WIND were reporting that "the Chicago man" claimed he also wanted to "infuence developments in foreign lands." Maybe like that other "Chicago man" Obama, he wants to be a citizen of the world, the world of Dar al Islam that is.
I HATE HATE CRIMES - THAT IS WHY I HATE THE MUSLIM BIBLE (THE KORAN).
That bible is full of god-sanctioned crimes against Jews and Christians and Pagans, and even Muslim women because they are inferior to men in every way. The Koran itself is a Hate Crime! It advocated lots of hate crimes clearly - so why doesn't anyone point this out? Because anyone who does stand a damn good chance of ending up on a Muslim's hit list. That is the only reason the Muslims are doing so well against us. Because we are afraid to be murdered - think I'm kidding? Think about it please!
Another revealing statement he made to undercover agents was when they tried to get him to incriminate himself by saying they want to do this for "people back home." He seems to initially dismiss this--that's how the agent writing the report took it, anyway--but then he says, "We are all in the same boat." And what boat would that be?
I think whoever trained this guy and then activated him made it clear that he should never come out and express any connection to Islam, although he does talk about inventing an extremist Muslim group to blame.
Too bad he left so many clues in his conversations with agents. And too bad the American public isn't as dumb as we're often given credit for.
Hey Everyone,
It would be helpful if there was some type of fact sheet or something we could download and print off. Sinple and to the point. Something we could hand out to friends with references and websites such as this. People need to get eduacated on this and we must have a plan to get the info out and have people vote for politicians that are willing to stand up to this evil cult. When the topic comes up people seem to listen but don't take it seriously, it goes in one ear and out the other. If they could have something they could take home and then reference as it grabs their attention this would help. Does anyone know of such info. Not sure if I am being clear on this, sorry.
JJ, I know exactly what you mean. One of the problems is that non-Muslims go to Muslim sources for explanations of the Islam. They don't see any bias, they see it as consulting "authorities" who have inside information. The media helps out by doing the same thing. Every reporter writing about Islam always consults CAIR for their "expert" insight. I don't get it.
I see the same thing with animal activists. I am an animal lover, and I hate animal abuse as much as the next person, but I continually see radical animal-rights groups consulted for their take on issues like dogfighting, puppy mills, etc. OK, fine: dogfighting, puppy mills, etc., are terrible and should disappear. But if you look into some of the groups most vocal about these topics, you'll find they stand for eliminating the CONCEPT of keeping pets, and other ideas I am not on board with.
I still cannot get over the way 9/11 has evolved in the public's perception from an attack to a natural disaster. And yet when I point this out, or post my annual 9/11 Facebook memorial status, I get a huge amount of abuse. This year I simply posted a quote from bin Ladin from 1998, saying it's the duty of every Muslim to fight America and its allies here and abroad. People were mad at ME for putting it up. I mean, I didn't come up with that idea! Friend bin Ladin and complain to HIM.
I am wanting to pass this story on, since I live in Chicago. But do we have any direct evidence that this guy is a Muslim? I haven't seen anything yet. I want to make 100% sure I have my facts straight before passing it along.
JJ
there's a gentleman here at jihadwatch, a regular poster called 'Davegreybeard' who has put together some excellent little leaflets.
Dave - you out there? you OK? - perhaps you should contact Mr Spencer, let him read your leaflets and, so to speak, give them a mark out of ten, and if he vouches for them (*I* think they're good) - he could put them somewhere where people who come here can download them and print them off, to keep in the back pocket or the handbag to give to people.
In the meantime, the Aussie site - Australian Islamist Monitor - has a leaflet you can print off - in colour, even. It was done for an Aussie audience but is still generally applicable.
Go here:
http://islammonitor.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1435&Itemid=71a.org
and then download this PDF and print it off:
http://www.islammonitor.org/uploads/docs/aimbrochure.pdf
I gave this one - the Islammonitor leaflet - to a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses who came to the door the other day (after I'd turned the tables on them and told them they *ought* to be worried about Islam and jihad just like our grandparents worried about the rise of Hitler and of fascist Japan and then of Mao and Stalin. When they tried to get started on their 'end times' spiel, I told them flatly that they had better just think about what would have happened if our grandparents on getting the disturbing news from the Reich had told themselves 'Jesus is coming back soon to save us, we don't have to do anything!' and had therefore sat on their bottoms and done nothing in the here and now.)
I also recommend the booklet 'What is Sharia?' which can be bought online from the 'Barnabas Fund' website for the princely sum of about one dollar Australian and probably less in US currency. Here's the link for their list of 'books and resources' - just click 'view all' and scroll down slowly, you'll see it. It's professionally-produced and accurate.

You could get about ten or twenty of them and keep them up your sleeve.
LORD Jesus Christ Son of God Have Mercy on us. A muslim terrorist bomb blast at Wrigley Field to imitate 9/11 & countless other islamic inspired terrorist acts blowing up children, men & women in filled restaurants, all for the cry of AllahuAkbar. By the Grace of God and the wisdom He granted to our internal armed forces, the bomb would not go off & Samir Hassoun has been charged with 1 count of attempt to use WMD! He was also trying to set off biological weapons as part of his plan to honor Mohammad. Please pray & do all you can for our neighbors to be delivered from the evil of islam!
humbly in Christ,

Mo, if he had a religious affiliation other than to Islam, ie, if he were a Druze or Coptic Christian, etc., the media would have mentioned this.
Right now there's a blackout on his religion, but it will come out soon.
I lived in Chicago for much of my adult life. There are countless reasons why I left some years ago with no intention to return. The growing Islamization of Chicago was one of them.
Much of the Chicago area, including large parts of the southwest side and southwest suburbs, has become as Islamized as "Dearbornistan." Women wear full hijab; mega-mosques draw huge audiences; rows of shops have signs only in Arabic, not in English; there are suspicious explosions and other incidents that are covered up in the press. And this was going on half a decade ago!
Re: the SW side. I love Arabian food, and there used to be some very good restaurants on 63rd St., between Western and Kedzie, and also along Harlem. The owners have moved further south and west, and the replacement Arabian restaurants on the SW side just aren't as good.
Several years ago, a friend (who always accompanies me; she loves the cuisine as much as I do, and it's almost worth enduring hostile stares) and I went out for lunch. It wasn't a holiday or a holy day, but our regular Arabian restaurants were closed for business. There were men inside, but the doors were locked. A few days later, the USS Cole was attacked. we jokingly wondered if there was some foreknowledge floating around the "Muslim community."
We fell back into our routine, but the same thing happened a few years later. We went to THREE Arabian restaurants, and it was the same story: men inside (the tables pulled together), doors locked. At the third place, I had tried the door, then turned back to the car. A woman rushed over, unlocked the door--which she said had NOT been locked--insisted we come in, and by the time we went into the restaurant, all the men had separated their tables and it was business as usual.
My friend said, "I wonder what's brewing this time!" and we laughed about it. We didn't laugh long.
This was September 9, 2001.
Mary,
That is chilling.
Scratch a few years--some months.
dda (and Davegreybeard, if you are reading this),
The AIM pamphlet to which you link says "What is Sharia Law? The Qur’an and the Sunnah together with Tafsir -
commentary on these texts - form the Sharia Law..."
I would not even think that tafsir should be mentioned there; it definitely stood out to me as a bizarre statement when I read it. The type of interpretation of the Quran and Hadith most relevant to Sharia law is fiqh. Fiqh concerns jurisprudence, i.e., what should the laws be, and how should they be applied and enforced, in light of the Quran and Hadith? Tafsir may sometimes include mention of jurisprudence, but primarily the point of tafsir is simply to explain the meaning of the verses or hadiths. Asbab al-Nuzul is also used to identify the context(s) in which specific verses were revealed, and this is also used in understanding the meaning. Interpreting the Quran and Hadith in jurisprudence would of course rely on tafsir when the meaning is not clear.
The percentage support for terrorism cited (10%) seems pretty low compared to other figures I've seen and which I've cited in JW threads many times over the years.
A couple of other suggestions for the pamphlet:
-Should cite polls on what percentages of Muslims support sharia law (i.e., it is the majority).
-Should cite the polls showing that most Muslims want restrictions on the freedom of expression, such that they want people who criticize Islam in public to be criminally prosecuted and punished.
-The pamphlet itself should have the references for the terrorism support percentage and any other empirical claims listed in it. The credibility of the entire pamphlet depends on having credible sources.
Mary and 1389:
I left the SW side because of another group of terrorists; the kind who march and vomit in the gutters every March 17th (and most Friday/Saturday nights too). Like Obama, I couldn't put enough distance between me and my mom's people.
I swear that Christ the King parish's second Sunday collection was for the IRA back in the 60's and 70's. No matter what was blown up and how many killed, it was always the English's fault and nary a cross word about the boyos, dontcha know.
My point is, if I were a terrorist of the jihad stripe, the SW side Bridgeview, Orland, Beverly, Oak Lawn is where I would feel most at home. Terrorist bombers united.
:-)
Livng and loving it on Taylor Street!

Haha, you speak the language of my tribe! We live a half block away from the nearest Catholic church, but we belong to a different parish because, as has been made clear to us on a number of occasions, "non-Irish need not apply."
The parade was a horrible experience. My kids got a lot of guff from their classmates when the SunTimes and Southtown Star printed a letter I wrote, when Chicago was being considered for the Olympics, suggesting the Olympic Committee attend the Irish Parade for a real "taste of Chicago." ("Why does your mom hate the Irish?")Then they got blamed when the parade organizers dropped the tradition. Wish I could take credit, but EVERYONE in the neighborhood had horror stories about youngsters (meaning under drinking age) urinating and defecating on their lawns, vandalism, fighting, etc.
And yet, despite the IRA's track record in the Old Sod, and the fact that there's always a mean drunk if alcohol is flowing, the South Side Irsih pub crawl crowd is more self-destructive than anything else. If anything, they want to remind their fellow Chicagoans that the Irish are a select group--they don't try to impose being part of the clan on the unwilling via violence.
Yet it was interesting that, at the final parade two years ago, news cameras focused on women in hijab. Seriously, what would have compelled them to attend?
Good article.
