(AINA) -- A new wave of defamation by Islamists against Coptic Pope Shenouda III and the Coptic Church is seen by many observers as a serious provocation to sectarian violence against the Copts, and the possibility of Egypt being dragged into civil war.On September 15, Qatar-owned Al-Jezirah TV broadcast a program called Without Limits, presented by moderator Ahmad Mansour, who hosted the Islamist Dr. Selim el-Awah, former Secretary-General of the World Council of Muslim Scholars, which has stunned and enraged Copts inside and outside of Egypt. "El-Awah is simply threatening Copts that the forthcoming chaos after Mubarak dies will see mass violence against the Copts," says Magdy Khalil, Coptic activist and head of Middle East Freedom Forum.
The program alleged the Church has its own militia and hides weapons and ammunition in monasteries and churches, preparing for a war "against the Muslims." el-Awah said that "Israel is in the heart of the Coptic Cause," and the Church gets weapons from Israel. He cited as evidence an incident in mid-August, in which the son of a priest in Port Said, Mr. Joseph El-Gabalawy, was falsely accused of importing weapons from Israel. Although he was cleared of charges and released, as the imported goods were children's fireworks from China and did not belong to him, he is still detained by State Security.
The television program also charged the Church of concealing Muslim converts to Christianity, besides abducting and torturing Christian converts to Islam. Out of the thousands of Christian woman who converted to Islam, willingly or unwillingly, el-Awah mentioned only two wives of priests whom he claimed converted to Islam and consequently were imprisoned in monasteries, Wafa Constantine and Mary Abdallah. Speaking on the latest crisis over Camelia Shehata, about whom Muslims fabricated rumors of her conversion to Islam, he said that she never converted to Islam and was handed over by State Security to her two married sisters (AINA 11-1-2015).
The nearly two-hour program went on to accuse the Coptic Church of being a "State within the Egyptian State," allegedly taking advantage of the weakness of the present regime, behaving as if it is above the law. The Church was also accused of making an "inheritance" deal with the regime to support President Mubarak's son in succeeding his father as president in exchange for benefits.
Selim el-Awah said that ever since Pope Shenouda came out of detention, having been banished to a desert monastery by the late President Sadat in 1981 and released by President Mubarak in 1982, there has been "scientific preparation" to demand the division of Egypt into a Muslim State and a Coptic secular State"
He warned that if the status of the Church remains as such, the "country will burn" and called on Muslims to go out in demonstrations as the "only answer left to counteract the strength of the Church." He said "If they go out to the streets, who can control them?"
"For the first time since the establishment of the State of Israel," says Magdy Khalil, "someone has accused the Coptic Church of stockpiling weapons from Israel as a prelude to waging war on Muslims, claiming that Israel is at the heart of the Coptic issue." [...]

Khalil recollects similar circumstances taking place at the end of the seventies when rumors circulated about a plan by Pope Shenouda to establish a Coptic state in the Upper Egyptian Province of Assiut, and about the storage of weapons in monasteries, "those rumors were justifications for a series of attacks against the Copts over decades," he said.
He believes that this dangerous talk by Dr. el-Awah is an introduction to the destruction of the Copts in the event of a the outbreak of chaos in Egypt after Mubarak's death. "It will not be like what happened in the seventies, but it could evolve to become like the Armenian genocide that occurred in Turkey in 1915," said Khalil.

Egypt was once the breadbasket of the world, now it imports more wheat than anybody else.
When Mubarak dies, his son gets to renegotiate Egypt's water rights to the Nile river. Nations upstream think new treaties are needed that reflect the modern world. For Egypt that probably means more jungle warfare training and continued hiding behind old colonial era treaties.(they should just call it a day with islam, and fall back to Pyramid Power!)

How I wish that were true.
Anticipate the day in the not-too-dim future when Egypt is emptied of its indigenous Christian population. We in the West must surely welcome Coptic refugees who are fleeing persecution with open arms...but we must do much, much more than that.
We must make sure BEFORE the carnage happens that if Egypt turns with a vengeance on its Coptic minority, we will terminate our generous aid to that country. Finally, we must hold Muslim-American advocacy groups accountable for such persecution...as said groups continue to insist - all evidence to the contrary - that 1)Muslims are victimized here in America and 2)Islam is a peaceful, tolerant religion.

The mass media and the political correct are in a spin because they cry "Islamophobia" but in the real world it is the followers of Islam who are slaughtering Christians in Somalia and it is only the Islamic faith which continues to kill apostates. Therefore, you had mass coverage about a pastor who was going to burn the Koran but you have a virtual silence about the annihilation of Christianity in Somalia and the burning of Bibles in Pakistan.
In truth, the Islamists are clearly winning the media war and the political correct, trendy left, and mass of liberals are at odds with what they believe in. After all, the religion which supports the stoning to death of homosexuals and which enforces women to remain in the shadows is being mollycoddled by a plethora of "well meaning hypocrites." Therefore, it appears that killing Christians in Somalia is fine because we must not upset the religion of Islam and the same applies to burning Bibles in Pakistan.

Unfortunately, similar instances in the past of Muslim on Christian violence and mayhem in Sudan, Nigeria and other places tend to be ignored. We send aid to Muslim countries when natural disasters strike, but ignore the victims of explicitly Muslim aggression.
It does not look good for the Egyptian Copts, and if the worst comes to pass the world will surely look the other way. The only governmental grouping that I could see possibly coming to their aid, and this would not be before early 2013, is a new Congress and administration in the U.S. in which appeasers and apologists had been voted out of office.
Who can forget the atrocious way O bama ignored the suffering of the Iranian young people when they were demonstrating against the criminal regime of the thuggish mullah and their henchman, the monkey man. Obama was so busy kissing the mullah collective asses. I don’t think he will do or say anything when the Egyptian Muslims go on their rampage.

Yes, I agree with many of you that the mass killing of copts or huge persecution wave will start very soon, and all this fabricated stories are to prepare for these days or that wave. El Ewah is one of the most dangerous extremists in Egypt who alway incite smoothly against copts...
I would be very happy to have them airlifted in bulk to Canada, we need more bodies over here, if they aren’t scared of hard work everyone will welcome them. They can practice what they like and be secure. I'd much rather they were driving cabs here than the current influx.
Egypt cannot be trusted to protect them, they must be having a horrid time waiting for the knock on the door, the brick through the window or the daughter to come home crying and broken.

A million or so hard-working, clever, prayerful Copts would fit right in, and boost our non-Muslim population nicely. The Copts already in Australia are flourishing: they're working hard, building churches, raising families, and educating, educating, educating their kids.
Let's STOP letting Muslims immigrate, and open our doors to the Copts instead. And if we need to make room for them, we could always do a swap.
That is: Egypt can have all the Muslims we've already got, with our compliments; we'll take any number of Copts in exchange.
France could do the same deal: swap all the 'French' Muslims for Egyptian Copts.
