The email even referenced the ongoing issue in New York. "One of the goals of the Council is to give a voice to the many diverse peoples of the City, which is especially important given the recent anti-Islam events throughout the country."
Council President rJo [sic] Winch called it an important move for the Council.
"I feel it is very important that, as a Council, we project a culture of inclusiveness in the City of Hartford. Too often it is our differences that divide us. In my opinion, it is our combination of differences that makes us strong," Winch said.
Hmmm, seeing as the First Nations have been excluded from New World culture for some 500 years, have Hartford Council ever started their council meetings with Native American prayers in order to foster a spirit of inclusiveness?

Gee, this is shocking considering that Hartford is home to the Hartford Seminary where that illustrious bridge builder, Ingrid Mattson of ISNA fame teaches eager young minds. I have a young friend there who is known for exposing Islam for what it really is and he was delayed one year in getting his masters because the powers that be didn't like his thesis, exposing Islam, and he had to do it all over again. He found a sympathetic professor who told him to get it to him and he would make sure it went through.

Well, again my solution is of the "if you can't beat them, join then" type.
Just like Sharia Law being so virtuous and good that we should specifically advocate (sarc) in great detail the specific rules (photo illustrated). Maybe even introduce a request for adoption of the guidelines as law at the City Council. Then they can talk about what is actually in the book and its rules. It would be interesting to get a formal legal opinion that the religious precepts are not Constitutional.
Can we present our own selections of muslin prayers - how about a contest and a vote on several selected passages?
OR, can we just join in during the prayers with worshipful utterances like "Kill the Jews" for the 'amen-chorus'?
Maybe the Hartford City Council doesn't really know what is in the prayers they are inviting; an e-mail with a short list of choice selections for educational purposes might be helpful.
What if a citizen filed a complaint that the religion's prayers are offensive, cause fear for one's safety, and were fighting words that so inflamed passions that a reasonable person could not be held liable for their violent reaction?

I looked it up. The small city of Hartford (happens to be the Capitol of Connecticut) has 2 mosques.
1. The "Muhammad Islamic Center of Hartford" is in the Spanish-speaking old neighborhood of Mayor Perez.

In the primitive conceptualizations held by both the Muslim invaders (as a Catholic I do not wish the word "crusaders" associated with these latter-day miscreants) and their conciliatory Hartford benefactors, this showcasing of Islamic prayer honors and respects Islam and shows solidarity.
[I use "Muslim invaders" here to refer not just to immigrant Muslims with attitudinal problems integrating into America, but also homegrown Muslims fully familiar with and socialized into American ways, and having attitudinal problems about America.]
On the contrary, when Muslims in the West are treated with kid gloves, placated and pacified whenever their very low thresholds for antagonism are inflamed, they are being patronized and infantilized, patted on the head:

These strategies of avoidance from the ruling powers may convince said powers that goodwill shall thus be ensured from said Muslims as the latter grow in power over time in America (or Hartford, which geographically if not behaviorally is American).
