More madness and threats from Muslims who will somehow be "humiliated" if someone burns their holy book. "Afghans protest, Fla. pastor plans to meet NY imam," by Antonio Gonzalez for Associated Press, September 10:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - As thousands of Afghans protested a tiny Florida church's plan to burn the Muslim holy book, the church's pastor said he won't follow through with the burning if he's able to meet Saturday with the organizers behind a mosque planned near ground zero in New York....Speaking to NBC's "Today" show, the Rev. Terry Jones said if he meets with the imam in New York, he won't burn the Quran. It wasn't clear if he meant the burning would be halted indefinitely or just for Saturday.
Imam Muhammad Musri, the president of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, told CBS' "The Early Show" he had a commitment for Jones and himself to meet in New York with the imam there.
City officials in Gainesville said Friday that no matter what Jones says he'll do, they planned to stick with their plan to increase security in response to the event.
Earlier, Jones and Musri had disagreed sharply on the terms of their agreement.
Jones said Thursday he would call off the planned burning of Qurans based on a deal negotiated with Musri that the location of a mosque planned near ground zero in New York would be changed.
But Musri said he was clear on Thursday when he told Jones that he could only set up a meeting with planners of the New York City mosque. Jones responded by suggesting that he would go forward with his plan on Saturday after all.
"We are just really shocked," Jones said of Musri. "He clearly, clearly lied to us."...
Cleric Rusli Hasbi told 1,000 worshippers attending Friday morning prayers in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country, that whether or not he burns the Quran, Jones had already "hurt the heart of the Muslim world."
"If he'd gone through with it, it would have been tantamount to war," the cleric said in the coastal town of Lhokseumawe. "A war that would have rallied Muslims all over the world."...
In Afghanistan, where tens of thousands of U.S. troops are in harm's way, President Hamid Karzai said he heard Jones had perhaps abandoned his Quran-burning plan.
"The holy book is implanted in the hearts and minds of all the Muslims," Karzai said. "Humiliation of the holy book represents the humiliation of our people. I hope that this decision will be stopped and should never have been considered."...
President Barack Obama urged Jones to listen to "those better angels," saying that besides endangering lives, it would give Islamic terrorists a recruiting tool. Defense Secretary Robert Gates took the extraordinary step of calling Jones personally....
Iraq's top Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani said the intent to burn copies of the Quran is Jones' "expression of hatred of Islam" but called on Muslims to restrain their reactions and not offend Christians in any way.
"This disgraceful act contradicts the very duties of religious and spiritual leadership to enhance the value of peaceful coexistence and safeguard the rights and mutual respect among religions," al-Sistani said in a statement posted on his website Friday....
News of the possible cancellation also was welcomed by Jones' neighbors in Gainesville, a city of 125,000 anchored by the sprawling University of Florida campus. At least two dozen Christian churches, Jewish temples and Muslim organizations in the city had mobilized to plan inclusive events, including Quran readings at services, as a counterpoint to Jones' protest.
That's interesting. Somehow I doubt they will read 5:51, or 9:29, or 98:6, or 47:4, or 9:5, or 2:62-65, or 5:59-60, or 7:166, or 4:89, or 2:191, or 4:34, or...
Jones said at the news conference that he prayed about the decision and concluded that if the mosque was moved, it would be a sign from God to call off the Quran burning.Part of the pressure exerted on Jones came from Gates who briefly spoke to the pastor before his first announcement to call it off. Gates expressed "his grave concern that going forward with this Quran burning would put the lives of our forces at risk, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan," Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said.

Well if Indonesia (or any muslim country) declares war on America, they will have sealed their own fate. Frankly it'd make me smile if they do something so stupid and reckless.
Though under this cowardly, pro-Islamic administration I'm sure Obama would saddle up for the next apology tour and bow deeper than usual to his muslim overlords. Bush would show them what's what.
The war began right after the Koran was written because that's exactly what that book called for.
The coming war: why 'humiliation' is so important to Muslims
"To Muslims, all relationships are of dominance/submission and honor/shame. If they can't be dominant, they sulk, whine and claim victim status to sympathetic bleeding-heart liberals, while secretly nursing their pent-up fury and humiliation.
Once they think they might get the upper hand, the sulking immediately flips into murderous hostility. So, infidels, beware the coming Islamageddon. Once Muslims can take on the West there'll be an orgy of rape, murder, torture and mutilation that will make the two previous world wars seem like a family squabble. We need to shove Islam back into its box and nail the lid down before it's too late for all of us." http://crombouke.blogspot.com/2010/01/islamic-supremacism-and-muslim-sense-of.html

CONDEMN BURN QURAN DAY
On May 10 1933 Nazis gathered 25,000 un German books and set them on fire. 40,000 attended the burning. While the Quran is a book of pure evil far more evil then Mein Kampf, it is a crime to ban, burn, tear up, or flush down toilet any book. Burning books is an act of barbarism.
Intellectually you destroy, burn, tear up and flush down the toilet bowl of history - the Quran. In this struggle at no time can violence be directed at Muslims. At no time should headscarfs/burqas (except for security concerns) be banned.
It cannot be stated strongly enough that the Quran is no holy book but a book of evil. 64% of the Quran is nothing more then hatred, extermination, slaughter, torture, subjugation of kafirs (non-believers). As already detailed in book: All Muslims must believe that every word of the Quran is the word of God: written by God himself. To challenge just one word of this very evil book is to commit a capital offense against Islam for which you must be murdered. The Quran is nothing more then words on paper bound into a book. As has been clearly shown throughout this book, these words are the teachings of prophet Muhammad. God NEVER spoke or wrote one word of the Quran. Every word is from the mouth of Muhammad who was no prophet. It is Muslim men who turn these murderous teachings into evil.
Apparently, its not enough that their threats have gotten them their way, but now they have to gloat...
In a way, I'm happy the quran burning was called off, but at the same time, I'm frustrated that we are always the ones to appease, while muslims, collectively, never give even an inch.
But, I guess that's a part of islam.
And as we well remember it was Indonesian Muslim savages who carried out the Bali atrocity in 2002, murdering 202 innocent infidels, the eighth anniversary of which is almost upon us, and beheaded three Christian schoolgirls. Likewise Indonesian Achenese Muslims showed no gratitude whatsoever towards Western aid workers following the Boxing Day 2004 tsunami.
If those atrocities aren't acts of war against infidels, then I don't know what are.
god bless the united states of america, and its true patriots.
and shame on the US Gov, with their spineless appeasement today over the pastor jones stunt,(well he s got the publicity he wanted)

Would this be the same amnesiac Indonesia which accepted millions upon millions of dollars from American citizens after the tsunami?
Next time disaster strikes in Islamastan, and there will be one, will those hearts be wrenched in quite the same way?
Barbarianism breeds contempt and loathing and our one way charity has to be questioned. Otherwise it merely amounts to the Jizya.
"We are just really shocked," Jones said of Musri. "He clearly, clearly lied to us."...
No! How can this be? A muslim practicing taquiyya? It must be some sort of kuffar mistake!
After all, its not like Mohammed once said "War is deceit".
So, it's not ok to burn the Quran, but it's ok to burn humans: http://www.jihadwatch.org/2009/03/egypt-muslims-burn-christian-man-alive-stab-his-father-to-death.html
We may not agree on burning the Quran, but we believe in free speech. We're not burning humans here. No, they never give anything back, they just demand demand and demand "respect".
Gates expressed "his grave concern that going forward with this Quran burning would put the lives of our forces at risk, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan,"
And there you have the reason our troops should LEAVE every Muslim country they are in today, never to return. Tsunamis, earthquakes and everything else can be left to the Muslim world to fix for itself. Let them call Riyadh.
If our forces can't protect themselves then what are they doing in hostile territory?
Next time disaster strikes in Islamastan, and there will be one, will those hearts be wrenched in quite the same way?
Everytime I hear of disaster in a Muslim country (like the recent flooding in Pakistan) I just shrug. Once I would have called the Red Cross or other charities that were trying to assist victims. No longer.
The sad truth is they have hardened my heart. I see no reason to care about them at all. They have earned the world's indifference. They're fortunate, though. There are too many good people in the world who will do what they can to help those in need.
I don't like burning books, any books, and i would never advocate banning any book, including the Quran, but I must admit I'm starting to want the guy do it just to piss the liberals off.
As for war with the Muslim world, they're already at war with us whether we have the guts to call it that or not. Loony as this pastor is, at least he seems to get that.
From the article, a quote from one of Associated Press's favorite "moderate" Muslim leaders:
Yes, this is the same Sistani who classifies non-Muslims as najis (filth), along with urine, feces, dogs, and pigs; and who ordered the killing of homosexuals* in Iraq; and who rules that those who criticize or "insult" Muhammad etc. must be killed.
*It was later reported, erroneously, that Sistani "renounced" the fatwa on killing homosexuals. However, he did not renounce it at all. In response to media scrutiny he removed the fatwa from his website.
Either the Associated Press knows about Sistani and they are knowingly presenting a deceptive misleading impression of him, or else they are ignoramuses naively (and recklessly) relaying comments that create a misleading impression.

Ayatullah al-'Uzma al-Sayyid 'Ali
al-Husayni al-Seestani
[Note: Below, Q = Question, A = Seestani’s answer ruling].
8. Slandering Allah (s.w.t.), Prophet (S) or Imams (a.s.)
Q194: During verbal disputes, some people unfortunately employ words in a non-serious manner that imply disbelief in Allah (s.w.t.) or articulate that which is inappropriate for the infallible ones (a.s.). Is it obligatory to impose a penalty (hadd) on them for that?
A: As long as they are not serious and do not mean what they are saying, there is no shar'i penalty on them but they are deserving of ta'zir. (FM, p. 419)
Q195: If they are serious and intend to slander Allah (s.w.t.), the Prophet (S), the Imams (a.s.), religion or school of law (madhhab) and persist in this.
A: The ruling upon them is death. (FM, p. 419)

"Najis Things
84. * The following ten things are essentially najis:
Urine
Faeces
Semen
Dead body
Blood
Dog
Pig
Kafir*
Alcoholic liquors
The sweat of an animal who persistently eats najasat.
*Kafir
107. * An infidel i.e. a person who does not believe in Allah and His Oneness, is najis. Similarly, Ghulat who believe in any of the holy twelve Imams as God, or that they are incarnations of God, and Khawarij and Nawasib who express enmity towards the holy Imams, are also najis. And similar is the case of those who deny Prophethood, or any of the necessary laws of Islam, like, namaz and fasting, which are believed by the Muslims as a part of Islam, and which they also know as such.
As regards the people of the Book (i.e. the Jews and the Christians) who do not accept the Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah (Peace be upon him and his progeny), they are commonly considered najis, but it is not improbable that they are Pak. However, it is better to avoid them.
108. The entire body of a Kafir, including his hair and nails, and all liquid substances of his body, are najis.
109. * If the parents, paternal grandmother and paternal grandfather of a minor child are all kafir, that child is najis, except when he is intelligent enough, and professes Islam. When, even one person from his parents or grandparents is a Muslim, the child is Pak (The details will be explained in rule 217).
110. * A person about whom it is not known whether he is a Muslim or not, and if no signs exist to establish him as a Muslim, he will be considered Pak. But he will not have the privileges of a Muslim, like, he cannot marry a Muslim woman, nor can he be buried in a Muslim cemetery.
111. Any person who abuses any of the twelve holy Imams on account of enmity, is najis.

"Following two weeks of negotiations with Iraqi LGBT – UK, Sistani’s office agreed to remove the fatwa calling for the murder of gay men, but has curiously refused to remove the fatwa urging punishment for lesbianism."
"Initially, Sistani’s office had demanded that Iraqi LGBT-UK delete their criticisms of Sistani from their website and apologise to the Grand Ayatollah for questioning his religious authority."
"Iraqi LGBT-UK refused. It issued a counter-demand that Sistani remove his ‘death to gays’ fatwa from his website. After two weeks of sometimes tense negotiations, Sistani’s representatives in London and Najaf agreed to drop the homophobic fatwa from his website – except for the section calling for the punishment of lesbianism."
“We welcome the decision to remove the most murderously homophobic part of Sistanti’s fatwa from his website,” said gay Iraqi refugee, Ali Hili, who heads the organisation Iraqi LGBT – UK (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender). Mr Ali is also Middle East Affairs spokesperson for the British LGBT movement, OutRage!, which works closely with Iraqi LGBT – UK."
“This decision does not go far enough. The fatwa has been removed from Sistani’s website only. It has not been revoked. We want the entire fatwa withdrawn, including the hateful denunciation calling for the punishment of lesbians."
On September 7th Nicholson asked, in these columns:
'Suppose I download an electronic copy of the quran and delete it?'
Nobody answered him at the time, and I've been thinking about it off and on since then.
It seems to me that an electronic copy of a book is much the same as a paper one, if a little bit more ephemeral. Neither is the only version, and either can be reproduced quite easily. So the answer has to be that deleting an electronic copy is much the same as destroying a paper one, with both actions likely to trigger an outburst of insane Mohammedan rage.
Luckily, neither one is going to last forever. Time will eventually dispose of all copies of the Koran.
Well, we just took our own advice... the grill is smoking away out on the deck!!
Oh, I know Robert and a lot of you are against book burning. But Hey, the muslims burn the American flag all the time and even IF I don't like it they still do it. So now IT IS GET EVEN TIME!!
The fuel consists of the usual charcoal with some added pieces of a rather inferior paper that came from a REALLY INFERIOR BOOK. Oh we added some smoking wood chips of hickory too.
Yes!! We did IT!! But we saved some paper for next week's cook-out.This was just so that the 4.95 plus tax we paid for the paper goes far...an insult a week, till the weather turns bad and we put away the grill.
Those PORK ribs will be so delicious...slowwww cooked to perfection. Made my own sauce too. Dinner tonight on the candle lit deck, soft rock on the radio and GOOD FOOD! PRICELESS!
I am not afraid of those ribs although my son did say in jest.. " you don't think they use poisoned ink, do you???"
NOPE, I told him, JUST POISONED WORDS!
LOL... catch us IF you DARE!! Colt 45 goes real well with a side of ribs, slaw and potato salad. hmmmm, hmmm! GOOD.
Another fine "story" brought to you by an unknown cook. Nobody knows but al of us right? LOL.
It feels SO good to use the freedom our ancestors fought and died to provide us. I suggest this to all FREEDOM lovers. USE YOUR FREEDOM!!!
Go for it!
Oh Really now Indonesia wants war ..........ha ha ha ...bloody ....bunch of convets .........pimps of devils ............screw INDONESIA ...............SCREW THEM .......................LOSERS
Artemis Gordon Glidden has made an excellent point on the topic today at New English Review:
Which one is the 'radical'?
Terry Jones planned to burn some paper with ink printed on it and bound together with glue. Indonesian President Yudhoyono threatened worldwide warfare by Muslims against non-Muslims. Which one is described as "radical"?
The rest of the article can be found at this address.
viloence! that is their only answer
When Pastor Jones is interviewed next on some MSM outlet, if he were to hold-up and 8 1/2 by 11 print out in large script of that suri about kill them wherever you find them, and set it alight with a flame on the set, how would this act be interpeted by Muhammad's Family? Seeing these words, an act of war or a reminder of the Koran's call to war?
Maybe we should change the wording of our 1st Amendment to read that freedom of expression is guaranteed except when that expression might cause Muslims to pitch a hissy fit or go into threatening hysterics. Only offending us infidel second class citizens is allowed.
We are told that this is mainly about protecting our men at arms. Evidently according to our leaders, hissy fit Muslims are a great source of intimidation to our mighty military. Our soldiers might even have to shoot in self defense and hit a civilian during the middle of his "Death to America" shout.
Maybe 2012 will bring real change.
I can't read much more of the Muslims going on about 'peaceful coexistance'. To the Muslim, protecting the reputation of a 7th century poet requries and encourges the suppression of any demonstration of faith not consistant with dark age Arabian culture. I hate this.
The West has had our dark age, gone through our reformation and passed the test of the enlightenment. If we permit Islam to go any further, it'll be the end of medicine, technology and human rights.
"President Barack Obama urged Jones to listen to "those better angels," saying that besides endangering lives, it would give Islamic terrorists a recruiting tool. Defense Secretary Robert Gates took the extraordinary step of calling Jones personally"
My goodness, I cannot believe that this spineless man is our president! ...and I am beyond ashamed over his cowardly response to islam and company. Since when should an American president cow to islamic thuggery and threats? Since Nobama, I guess ...
Agreed
But when are people going to stand up and do something about it? It seems out of all of America, only one man had the courage and conviction to stand up and protest Islam in his own way. All the while being called a crazy looney pastor.
Sometimes I wonder how Churchill felt in the time he spent "in the wilderness". He repeatedly told people of the dangers of Nazi Socialism until he was blue in the face. He must have wavered at times and wondered if he was wrong since so many others discounted him. It seemed everyone was talking about appeasement and making peace with the wolf (Hitler). It wasn't until the wolf started chewing on their legs they realized Churchill was right.
Churchill wrote a book about his experience and I think we should take the time to read it. It's called "The Gathering Storm". For now I will begin to call what is coming "The Gathering Storm" as we are faced with repeating history. Whether we survive it or not is really up to the courage and convictions of people in the US. Right now it doesn't look good.
So they can order the millitary to burn bibles for fear they will convert muslims, but burning the quran is an act of war.
How insecure is that?
Is Allah so weak he cannot defend his own word?
pmk
I was just going to write ........
'The sad truth is they have hardened my heart'
well actually I was going to say , 'My heart has hardened ' .............but you get the picture .
I'm looking at children in the disaster in pakistan and I feel just about nothing .
I think .....well ,they'll be my enemies when they grow up anyway .
Or I imagine the pakistanis dancing in the streets if we had a similar disaster here .
Maybe I should say , ' THEY have hardened my heart '
When a group of people ( not all but a hell of a lot ) hate you with so much venom out of ignorance and stupidity , you start to feel contempt for them and you find it impossible to have any sympathy .
I'm scared. Indonesia might invade America. Oh no.

Excellent post, Sean.
You are quite right—with the "Islam is to dominate, and not be dominated" ethos, anything short of unchallenged global wielding of power in every sphere is considered "humiliating" by Muslims.
Great screenplay...
Thank your for your levity in this dire situation!
You've given me a few chuckles... !
"Well if Indonesia (or any muslim country) declares war on America"
Oh, no. They are declaring a war against christians(as if Mo didn't do it already).
Their war will be waged against the minority christians living amongst them.
It is incredible that the burning is going
to be in such bad taste. If he will only add
a little picante sauce, salt, pepper and wrap
it in several strips of bacon, burn to a crisp

I'm fed up to here with the muslims and their sensitivities.
Let's just ignore them and do as we please. That's what they do.
"As the essential principle of Muhammad's faith is the subjugation of others by the sword, it is only by force that his false doctrines can be dispelled and his power annihilated." -- John Quincy Adams, 1829
Since you've mentioned John Quincy Adams, let's have a bit more of what he had to say about Islam (in his unsigned essays on the Russo-Turkish war; which could do with being dug out of the depths of the library, and reprinted in pamphlet form, perhaps with an introductory essay by someone like Mr Spencer or Mr Fitzgerald) -
"In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth.
"Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle.
"Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust, by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion.
"He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy;
"**and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind** {my emphasis - dda}
THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE. [emphasis in the original] {i.e. those caps are J Q A's own doing - dda}."
More:
"The precept of the koran is, perpetual war against all who deny, that Mahomet is the prophet of God.
"The vanquished may purchase their lives, by the payment of tribute;
"the victorious may be appeased by a false and delusive promise of peace;
"and the faithful follower of the prophet, may submit to the imperious necessities of defeat:
"but the command to propagate the Moslem creed by the sword is always obligatory, when it can be made effective.
"The commands of the prophet may be performed alike, by fraud, or by force." END QUOTE
And to go with that, just to show how well J Q A understood Islam, here's a passage from the Sira, the canonical Life of Mohammed by Ibn Ishaq:
Ibn Ishaq:204 - “‘Men, do you know what you are pledging yourselves to in swearing allegiance to this man?’
‘Yes. In swearing allegiance to him we are pledging to wage war against all mankind.’”
Didn't the 9-11 Commission say that Islam is at war with us?
Haven't Muslims been waging war of unbelievers since Medina?
I am completely against censorship and book burning, but if burning the Qu'ran can make such a powerful statement to the Islamic world I do think it should be done and we as Americans need to stand up for our first amendment rights.
Yes thats right Ice Star "if burning the koran can make such a powerful statement to the islamic world i do think it should be done"
I say lets all burn the evil book koran everytime there's an attack on innocent people by the moozies. It will be better if the affected victims themselves burn the koran.Moozies should learn that we can also be angry and retaliate instantly.
Another thing,do you guys know the true reason why the islamic world got all shook up over the koran burning threat. They are just worried that Pastor Jones wont get any preferential treatment from their deity allah. That allah wont raise a sweat to his koran burning. Yeah thats what got all these moozies all so worried. That the Pastor will still be in the pink of health unless of course some moozie scum decides to do what allah cant do and comes knocking at the Pastor's home with a knife.
I still remember when the US attacked iraq when saddam was ruling. Just when the american forces were beginning to attack ,saddam came on their tv and gave a speech how allah
will throw up the desert's sand into the american armies' weapons but the americans went on to capture iraq as well as hang saddam and their beloved allah was nowhere to be seen or heard.
On the other hand i just wish someone from Myanmar would issue a threat to burn a few korans!!!!
Muslims have now set up “International Burn American Flag Day 2010″ for 9/11 2010.
Isn’t this swell? Radical Muslim nutjobs have set up a “Demonstration” organized by Muslims Against Crusades in response to ‘Burn the Quran Day’ on 9/11. This one is set to take place in London, England. Filthy hypocrites. Why not just burn pictures of nutty pastor Terry Jones? No one would mind if they did that. Actually, these Muslims would probably be applauded. I’ll say one thing for this Terry Jones character. He has sure exposed the hypocrisy of Muslims and American progressives on this whole “burning the Koran” issue. That being said, he is still a nut, looking for his 15 minutes of day. Will Muslims worldwide "rise-up" and protest like they have been doing when the Burn the Koran Day was announced. I doubt it. Hypocrites!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=16yotMr5bUM
Remember: http://www.practicalstate.com/2010/09/11/when-you-remember-911-remember-this/
It would make more sense to burn selected verses of the Koran, one by one; each preceded by explanation of its meaning, why westerners reject it, how it conflicts with our values. This whole project, onerous as it seems to be, could have a salient and pedagogical effect if attention is paid to details. It would be hard for the MSM to ignore the details, and the word would get out. It could be a huge teaching moment.
The Pastor did make a good point. He merely threatens to burn Qurans and the Muslim and dhimmi world gets hysterical and condemns him, and the world is told that any Muslim retaliation would be justified. A giant mosque is being built over the ruins of 9/11 with Saudi jihad money and those American citizens who oppose it are ridiculed and ignored and told to be "tolerant" of the desecration. It is the unofficial global enforcement of Sharia law, which claims worldwide jurisdiction. Can anyone foresee the next step?
With all this flap over just the threat of burning a Quran, imagine what would happen if someone poured pig manure over one? WWIII maybe? I have read a good bit of what is on the inside of it, and it sure sounds like a huge mess of pig manure to me.
Indonesian Muslim cleric: If Jones had burned Qur'an, "it would have been tantamount to war"
You mean like the 9/11 attacks?
But, but...How can this be? I thought Indonesia was supposed to be one of those "moderate" Muslim majority countries. Didn't they get the memo?
Obama said we will never be at war with Islam. So a new president who is not a Muslim is in order.
