Iran's Thug-In-Chief predicts removal of "the Zionist regime from the world scene"

Imagine the international outcry, the furious denunciations, the hand-wringing over "Islamophobia," if a Western leader spoke this way about Iran. But about this, the world yawns. "Ahmadinejad predicts the removal of 'Zionists' from the world," from the Telegraph, September 3:

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has predicted the failure of the Middle East talks and the removal of "the Zionist regime from the world scene".

The hardline leader told the annual Palestinian solidarity day rally in Tehran that a popular revolt by the people of the Middle East would extinguish the Jewish homeland even if the governments reach a peace agreement.

"If the leaders of the region do not have the guts, then the people of the region are capable of removing the Zionist regime from the world scene," he said.

In response the pro-government crowd chanted "Death to America. Death to Israel."

President Ahmadinejad said that direct peace talks which Western-backed Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas relaunched with Israel in Washington on Thursday after a 20-month hiatus were "doomed" to fail.

"What do they want to negotiate about? Who are they representing? What are they going to talk about?" the Iranian president said of the Palestinian leadership.

"Who gave them the right to sell piece of Palestinian land? The people of Palestine and the people of the region will not allow them to sell even an inch of Palestinian soil to the enemy.

"The negotiations are stillborn and doomed."

Iran is implacably opposed to the new peace talks and has given strong support to the Islamist Hamas movement which controls Gaza and which carried out two shooting attacks against Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank in the run-up to their relaunch that killed four and wounded two....

Islam means peace & if Netanyahu threatened to wipe Iran off the map, "the world" would be as indifferent.

i talked to my sister earlier today they thousands of security people evry where. I would like the readers here know this the Iranian people bu no means support this day. at least most do not. the main slogan for the green movement is:
Not Gaza, Not Lebonoa, but my life for Iran.

Once a land has been a part of Dar-al-Islam, it will never be recognized as anything else. What compounds this is that modern, vibrant Israel has been built by the hated Joooos (that the Jews have a prior claim means nothing to Muslims).

President Ahmadinejad is a fool. Who cares what he has to say? America needs to take heed to this menace and do what it needs to do to defend itself along with Israel and the West. It is about time that we realize that they do not want peace period. Abbas is not even recognized by Iran or any of the other radical countries, Hamas is. So all you are dealing with is a tiny half territory. Even Palestine is spit in two because Muslim (Hamas )hates Muslim (Abbas). Iran should never be allowed to have nuclear weapons and if we stand by we are fools. Regan would certainly have dealt with this problem very quickly as would have Bush. Yea lets all wait for the time when the Middle Eastern countries all have nuclear weapons won't that advance humankind?

Here's Hugh Fitzgerald on the subject, from way back in 2004:

It is true that Islam regards lands once part of the dar al-Islam as first on the list of lands to be reconquered -- hence Israel (particularly galling given its geographic position), but many Muslims keep noting that "we lost Spain, India" not as a matter for the past but of present fury. But, in fact, in Islamic teachings there is no need to bring up any putative Muslim population, because ALL people were originally Muslim (all Christians and Jews were BORN Muslim, but their faith was somehow perverted); all lands belong to Allah, and therefore to Allah's people, the Muslims...

Miriam,

No disrespect intended, but your post made no sense to me.

Please expand on what you're trying to convey to us; and please use SpellCheck.

Thanks.

Yes I have heard this msny times over the years.

The common Iranian on the street does like America, they want to have western values- like having pets-dogs want to dress in western fashionetc.

I wish we could have supported the recent uprising against the little guy-he really does have short man syndrome!!

Pray for Persia and her people!!

It appears that Ahmadinejad is given to genocidal fantasies and delusions.

Why do the democracies put up with this creep show?

We should pull the plug on the regime now. Blockade, no fly zones, and targeted strikes... The very chanting of Death to America in organised government demos is a declaration of war and a just cause for war.

They need to be taught how to behave responsibly.

And yes - we should do much, much more to support Iranian democrats and we should be entirely open about it, and our wish to see an end to this totalitarian regime and all its works.

"The hardline leader told the annual Palestinian solidarity day rally in Tehran that a popular revolt by the people of the Middle East would extinguish the Jewish homeland even if the governments reach a peace agreement."

as usual Muslims plan to sabotage any peace aggreement...it is a historical fact the Muslims have broken every peace treaty they have entered into...even amongst themselves...

Ole buddy Jon would have you believe its America's responsibility to broker a peace deal...heck Muslims have been destroying peace since long before there even was an America...

Islam could have had peace long ago if that is what it wanted....but Islam thrives on violence, fear, and death...and Islam has kept it going for 1400 years...that is why there will never be peace in the Middle East...it's not wanted...

Thank you Miriam, we know that most of the people of Persia don't support that thug. We watched helplessly as they beat, raped, and murdered unarmed demonstrators. Though it wasn't reported much in the MSM, it was here. You see, we have the same problem in the USA, only at an earlier stage, tyrants taking over against the wishes of the people.

no offence taken. it is all good. I am in the 1950's when it comes to computer. I will try to type slower.

I am from Iran and most of family lives in Tehran and I talk to my sisters, brother and my mom almost every day.

todya is a day they call QUDS. it is a propeganda designed by the iranian regim to protest Zionism. Iranain people most of them do give a sh... about this day. what I was trying to say, during last years protest the main slogan was:

Not Gaza, Not lebonan, I give my life to Iran. what they are saying is that they do not care about the conflict between the Irealis and palastinians nor are they concerend with Lebonan. hope this explains it.

Didn't Ahmadinejad give Israel 11 days until its destruction like 6 months ago?

Time for Zoroastrianism to make a come back. It's long overdue for the Persians who've been had by Islam for way too many centuries now.

Iranians, go back to your roots. Discard Islam and replace the mullahs and ayatollahs with Magi. Islam is a religion created by Arabs as an instrument of subjugation. There's no truth to it and it has robbed others of their heritage, the Persians being a prime example.

It would be great if Persians went back to Cyrus the Great the first human rights activist on the planet! :)

I think we can all sense that the greater part of the Persian people detest the regime but a large fanatical minority detest it.

One thing I would say is that the nuclear weapons issue is a bit of an impediment. I sense the Iranian people see Pakistanis and Indians with nuclear weapons and ask "why not us?" We need to distinguish the two issues. I have no fear of free democracies getting hold of nuclear weapons. There hasn't been one example I can think of where a democracy has gone to war against another democracy in the last 100 years. But the criminal Mullah regime will play on "nuclear nationalism" to manipulate the Persians. The non-proliferation treaty is a busted flush. Much better if we say "all democracies should have the bomb" and actively arm countries like Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, South Africa who show themselves committed to democracy. Once the whole planet is democratic we will be able to disarm.

I met a local Iranian-American who used to organize Sufi readings at a vegetarian cafe. He recently traveled to Iran for a visit. Upon his return, he stated to me "Religion is destroying my people....It is so corrupt.....I don't give a shit about these mullahs and their Islam......I am going to find God on my own from now on..."

religion is the biggest culprit there is out there

I freely confess that the thoughts on Iran that I'm going to express show what a sorry excuse for a Christian I am.

I'm skeptical about the strength of the opposition in Iran. Worse, the best organized seem to be the Mojaheddin-e-Khalq; those unholy offspring of Karl Marx's sodomy with Muhammad and "First revolutionary fighters into the nest of spies". Maybe they're the sort of people homosexual marriages will produce once legalized. Every time I get buttonholed by an MEK in a park or on a campus to put my John Hancock on an anti-Iran petition, I tell him he has a lot of bl--dy nerve to demand support of Americans, and that if the USA had any gumption, he'd be rounded up and deported ASAP, hopefully to Chinese-occupied Sharki Turkistan (Xinjiang) with the separatist flag tattooed on his forehead. The front of the pants of one such parasitic slimeball actually darkened after I gave him my screed (and I am not a particularly scary-looking man).

I also remember all those soon-to-be Iranian revolutionaries of the 1970's. They roamed college campuses as arrogant as the Sa'udis today, treating all women as whores and biting the hand of Shah Muhammad Riza Pahlavi (who was paying their way) at every turn. Sadeq Ghotbzadeh has a particularly unsavory, oversexed reputation at Georgetown U, and it was sort of pleasing to see him run afoul of his sire Khomeini later.

With 20-20 historical hindsight, it would have been best to have let Iran go Communist after World War II, and let the Soviet Union bleed white in a guerrilla war with Iran's conspracy-minded, paranoiac, it's-always-someone-else's-fault people in the 1950's, rather than wait 30 years for their misadventure in Afghanistan. Maybe today the Iranians would execrate the memory of Mossadeq and Pishevari the way Afghans execrate Najibullah, instead of putting them on every t-shirt.

Iran--both regime and opposition--made it clear in 1979 that no relation can exist between Iran and the USA save for unrelenting hostility. That is what violating diplomatic envoys always means. Cripes. We sent Japan's and Germany's envoys out under police escort in 1941. That's how civilized countries do it.

I welcome the way lots of Iranian immigrants in America are turning to Christ. But otherwise, America should let Iran stew in its own Islamic juices. If some modern Huleku Khan or Temur Lenk turns Iran into the world's largest wildlife park (after piling up a few tens of millions of human skulls at the access ramps to its fifty largest cities), America should simply let it happen.

Yours, Kepha, is a bleak assessmnet of the Iranians to be sure but this does not mean it is not an accurate one. Well, some people are just greater than others, diplomacy, multiculturalism and political correctness be damned. The Jews are greater than the Persians, the Americans are greater than the Russians, the French are greater than the Indonesians and most every people are greater than the Arabs. This is just the way it is and all that can reasonably and truthfully be debated is why.

"Iran's revenge: Syria and Hizballah join to sink Israeli Warships"

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report September 3, 2010

At a news conference in Gaza early Friday, Sept. 3 - shortly after the Washington talks were rated positive - a Hamas military arm spokesman announced the creation of a single command encompassing all 13 Palestinian rejectionist groups operating out of the Gaza Strip and Damascus for a concerted campaign of terror against Israel.

Clearly, the Pal's do not want peace ...they want Israel completely destroyed, too.

I predict that Damascus will be destroyed, not Israel.

I don't think the "world" would be indifferent to a threat from Israel. Double standards apply here. Israel is threatened? No problem! Israel issues a threat? You would never hear the end of the condemnations. In fact although Israel is constantly being threatened they never threaten anyone. They do however warn that they will take action to defend themselves. That's quite different from a threat. The media however love to blurr the distinction.

I certainly get the impression that the people of Iran are far from happy with the regime in power. Separation of religion and state would help, but that does not seem to be possible in Islamic states. Freedom is key. Freedom to choose your religion. Freedom to elect your government. Freedom to disagree and not have your life threatened. Freedom seems to be lacking in Islamic states. I would not like to live in an Islamic state.

"One thing I would say is that the nuclear weapons issue is a bit of an impediment. I sense the Iranian people see Pakistanis and Indians with nuclear weapons and ask "why not us?"

Yes, this does seem to be a factor in current events. There does seem to be a segment of the opposition leadership that also wants these weapons and seems to not want to push so hard so as to derail the program (but what arrogance to think they could control the Revolutionary Guards and the Basji who control the program!). Or is it just fear of appearing unpatriotic? Either way, as you point out, the social benefits of democracy need to exist before they can be trusted. That is a long ways off for Iran.

Jews have been in Palestine for 1,000s years. The so-called "Palestinians" are Johnny-come-latelys. Or should I say "Abdul-come-latelys?" I have heard they are mostly Jordanians.

Robert Spencer says that The separation of church/religion and state by the Founding Fathers was a piece of inspired wisdom. History proves that to be right. If only the Imams would stay in their mosques and just lead the prayers and stay out of politics...things would be quite different, would they not? But as I noted in another comment, that just isn't Islam...

It's sarcasm, set up by the opening line.

I just love the way Ahmadinejad is making a fool of himself and showing his true colours.

His actions are beyond comprehension to any rational human being.

The average Iranian must be sick of being aligned with this idiot.

I hope the west is smuggling enough guns and other weapons into Iran to enable a civil war. Mass protests and demonstrations merely give the Mullahs an excuse to murder and imprison demonstrators.

Words will not be enough to topple these goons.

Oh, his words must surely constitute incitement to commit genocide. The next time he sets foot out of Iran he should be arrested and tried. I would love to see him squirrel his way out of that charge. Lay out the red carpet for him at the next UN meeting in New York - then spring the trap and you will have him and some of his goons snared and ready for trial.

Oh, I forgot one thing.
I will put my money where my mouth is and volunteer to be the first witness at Ahmadinejad's trial for inciting genocide.
I heard him clearly on the 7pm news right down here in Tasmania.

Champ,

It will be extremely interesting to see how Netanyahu approaches these talks with the Palestinians. Bibi is not known to have a yellow streak down his back nor is he known to be stupid. He has also never shown himself to be like our arrogantly stupid and squishy politicians. This will be interesting.

Gerard, there has been already much discussion on this issue. And that which you say sounds accurate for a great deal at least.

But there now is also the interesting theory that if indeed a part of the Palestinians descend from long ago-residents of Palestine, that part of the Palestinians may well have many Jewish genes, because of past forced conversion of Jews to Islam.

A school of thought I heard from says that original inhabitants of a country persevere much more than hitherto assumed. After invasions, populations are not simply massacred, but they stay the biggest part of the population and so also the next generations are mostly the descendants of the original population. So in Holland people's ancestry was traced back to AD 1000 and in the UK even to 6000 BC or so I read.

If it's true, what a pity then, that these Palestinians with Jewish roots, are now anti-Democratic. I'll explain: Because they are Muslims and Nonie Darwish pointed out that their Shariah-laws have at least 33 clear anti-democratic parts.

Obama has already set the time for war. Obama loves Dates no matter who chokes on the pits.

Wellington, you remind me of an old discussion that I read about in Robert Wright's "Non-zero-sum-games" and also in David Landes "The Wealth and Poverty of Nations".

My opinion is that we should honor individual's rights and appreciate their inherent quality's as equal as we can.

And at the same time distinguish between cultures, even climates that influence cultures, in terms of better or worse, or some better working, with higher qualities, than others.

While the culture-relativists, beginning with a certain "Boaz", are much more inclined to regard all cultures as basically equal to each other. But in so doing they shift blame in difference between humans to examined and observed individuals, who often then are considered better or worse than others.

This then relates to viewing Muslims in potential as equal with other humans but secular democracy with all its attributes as superior to Islamic legal/ societal system with all ITS attributes. In totality on aggregate I mean.

Have the Iranians any chance of overcoming the mullahocracy at this point? Support from the US is not likely until we can get our own little mullah out of office in a couple years.

yes we do. very much so. it may take a few years, but we will. they will implode. we brought the Shah down. it took 50 years. remmeber they are under the gun

Hi, Spot On ...yes, things are getting very interesting, especially for students of Bible prophecy; and keep an eye on Damascus, too. Today's headlines are yesterday's prophecies!

What sort of *GAME* is Imanutjob playing ...

UPDATE 1-Iran says to strike Israel nuclear site if attacked

Fri Sep 3, 2010

TEHRAN, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Iran would retaliate by striking Israel's nuclear facility if Israel attacked its nuclear activities, armed forces chief of staff Hassan Firouzabadi said on Friday.

"Our developed weapons can hit any part of the Zionist regime (Israel) ... We hope not to be forced to attack their nuclear facility," Firouzabadi told the semi-official Mehr news agency.

Iran does not recognise Israel, which it calls the "Zionist regime." Israel regards Iran's nuclear programme as a threat to its existence.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a live broadcast at Tehran University marking the annual Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Day, told Israel to leave Iran alone.

"I want to say that not only the Zionists, but even their masters are smaller than to lay a finger on the Iranian nation and its rights," he said.

Israel, believed to be the only nuclear-armed Middle East state, has not ruled out military action if diplomacy fails to end a dispute over Iran's nuclear ambitions.

The West suspects the Islamic Republic is covertly trying to develop nuclear weapons, but Iran denies this. (Reporting by Hossein Jaseb; Writing by Parisa Hafezi; editing by Tim Pearce)

Imanutjob has been threatening to wipe Israel off of the map for YEARS now, along with lying about their nuclear weapon ambitions (I mean how else do you wipe a country off of the map, eh?); and now Iran will only strike Israel IF they strike first. And he comes across as if he REALLY doesn't want to be left with this choice, but he will if forced to make that choice. Yeah, we can all see right through your asinine and evil game, NutJob.

Wellington, I look at my country's history and that of others sunk in degradation (the Arabs, the Muslim Persians, the French...) and say, "there but for the grace of God go I, my house, and my country". Read the book of Hosea and you'll catch my drift.

Now, having said what I have said, should the Iranian people prove me wrong, I will be quite pleased to be proven wrong.

I think you're trying to speak of Franz Boas, one of the deans of the anthropological discipline in America. He was a refugee from the Third Reich.

This being said, I don't like his cultural relativism, either.
