Islamic states pressuring UN to condemn Qur'an-burning

This is part of the Organization of the Islamic Conference's ongoing campaign to pressure Western states to criminalize criticism of Islam as "hate speech," thus rendering them mute and defenseless in the face of the advancing jihad. "Islamic states push UN to condemn Koran burning," by Robert Evans for Reuters, September 22:

GENEVA, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Islamic states sought on Wednesday to have the United Nations human rights council condemn a U.S. pastor's suspended plan to burn Korans, saying it was part of a pattern of global anti-Muslim violence.

A resolution submitted by Pakistan for the 57-nation Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) asks the council to speak out against what it dubbed "the recent call by an extremist group to organise a 'Burn a Koran Day'."

The resolution, which diplomats said was likely to be passed as the OIC and its allies have a majority on the 47-nation body, made no reference to condemnation of the plan by President Barack Obama and other U.S. and foreign leaders.

But it said the project, championed by little-known Florida preacher Terry Jones, was among "instances of intolerance, discrimination, profiling and acts of violence against Muslims occurring in many parts of the world."

The move came amid increasing efforts by the OIC -- which has Russia, China and Asian and African states as allies in the council -- to have the U.N. recognise "Islamophobia" as racism and open to challenge under international law....

In speeches in Geneva over the past few days, OIC secretary-general Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu of Turkey has also argued that Jones' plan underscored his grouping's long-standing demands for a U.N.- backed ban on "defamation of religion"....

European diplomats said they were unlikely to vote against the OIC resolution, as their governments had already condemned the Koran burning idea, but feared it would be used to increase pressure for actions on defamation and "Islamophobia."...

No kidding, really?

To Mr. Spencer:

This is extremely significant. This means that it is imperative to act quickly and effectively in this area.

The one year window that I had previously estimated before dhimmitude sets in might have been far too generous. The Islamists are moving very fast.

India is paralyzed by dhimmitude. Europe is succumbing almost completely. The OIC will soon try to make any negative assertion about Islam into illegal hate speech, even if the assertion is true.

Superb article by Dan Pipes on the topic (from jpost.com):

Islamophobia: Does America Have a Muslim Problem?

"Islamophobia" is a strawman canard, there is no such animal. People have a right to fear Islamic violence, supremacism, sexism and bigotry, Sharia hostility to our freedoms, and suicide bombings to kill us. There is nothing irrational or 'phobic' about these real threats to our safety from Islamic violence. Where are the UN resolutions condemning Islamic violence in all its forms? It seems the real issue brought up by this OIC at the UN is "Infidelophobia". They fear us because we now understand what Islam is really all about: Fear. But we are not afraid of them, rather we are weary of their evil actions, their intolerance, their hostile 'profiling' us with hate, and their death threats. We got their number.

It's an old slogan, but as the years go by it packs more of a punch with more and more people,

GET US OUT OF THE UN, AND THE UN OUT OF THE US!

"a pattern of global anti-Muslim violence"

Excuse me. If you are looking for a place where hypocrisy and crimes and uproar and trouble and discrimination and intolerance and preachings of hate and terrorism and killings and The Evil Eye is committed in the name of religion on a daily basis, there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind and your mind and the mind of any half-way sensible thinking person that such a place would be in a Muslim country.
But this is the usual tactic employed: no one really dares accuse them of lying in the UN, and so they get away with it. Jeeeeeez. Lying self-pity and whiny victimization win the day.

It has become more necessary than ever to take a close look at this hateful book. It has become a matter of survival for the civilized peoples to agree on rejecting any validity for this collection of supremacist, made-up and primitively tribal superstitions that are eroding the modern, democratic and caring Western world as we know it.

I'd call the OIC's bluff here and propose a resolution that would condemn Koran burning AND condemn the threatening of harm or death to those who would burn a Koran.

Sure, as long as they adopt complete religious freedom and freedom of speech, and condemn the burning of anything but piles of leaves in the fall. (rolls eyes) Guess I won't wait.

Here is the link to the June 7, 2010 story of Iranian Bible burning-

http://www.assistnews.net/Stories/2010/s10060047.htm

Did they include a request for the UN to condemn itself?

We should declare a Molly Norris Holiday.

We should rename streets Molly Norris Boulevard, and Molly Norris Avenue.

We must announce to Muslim-slaves the world over that Arab-Muslim-masters -- Arab-Muslim slave traders -- can be defeated.

"I Am Molly!"

on an unrelated topic. Consider sending a message to Chris Christie governor of new jersey regarding shariah judge joseph charles jr.

the link is

http://www.state.nj.us/governor/contact/

I focused on the damage to Gov. Christie's reputation because he recently gave tenure to the shariah judge and mentioned the following links:

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2010/07/sharia-in-new-jersey-muslim-husband-rapes-wife-judge-sees-no-sexual-assault-because-husbands-religio.html

http://www.manlyrash.com/blog/update-on-the-sharia-judge-in-nj

http://www.robeprobe.com/vote_judge.php?judge_id=941&judge_Joseph__Charles,%20Jr

It may make a difference as Gov. Christie recently took out a Supreme Court judge (did not renew his tenure or something) so he may be able to do something about the shariah judge.

Sure, as soon as the UN condemns (and takes action against) burning Christian Bibles.....and CHURCHES.....especially with Christian's inside them! Then...and ONLY then...might they consider condemning the burning of a Koran. I'm beginning to understand why the Bible underscores the attribute of "self control"...........as these people have none. The God of the Bible is not a self delusional paranoid being who demands His followers to engage in fits of rage and violence when His name is slandered. He is fully capable of defending his own truth and integrity in His own appointed time and place. The followers of Jesus Christ are only asked to be witnesses throughout the world of their own personal experiences with Him. These simple testimonies of life changing encounters with a loving Savior is the fabric of the Christian Church and what sustains it during persecution.

I am Molly, I am Geert Wilders, I am Ayaan Hirsi Ali, I am Joseph Nasrallah, I am Salman Rushdie, I am Hector Aleem... the list is too long

jewdog,
I read that recent Dan Pipes article, I agree it is superb.

This move is not unexpected and is fully in line with ongoing attempts by the OIC to criminalize the criticism of Islam internationally.

Message to the OIC and its intolerant and self-righteous secretary general Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu: Screw you.

I agree with traeh, jewdog. Fine article by Pipes. Thanks for the link.

I submit that arguably the "best" response to anyone who asks a person what they think about burning a Koran is that burning any book is a bad idea but a far worse idea is indicating that death for burning a book will be the result for doing so.

Keep it up, Muslims! Keep pissing all over people! It looks like several European countries are already seriously entertaining the idea of stopping and reversing Muslim immigration. :)

Nacazo,

Unfortunately, the list is way to short...but atleast it's growing by the day. I can't see any scenario where islam is capable of changing its image and people are waking to the realization that islam is just not compatible with humanity.

I can't wait! Per my previous post it's only a matter of time before people realize islam is incompatible with democratic values. Let's hope not too much blood is shed in killing multi-culturalism. There's nothing form the islamic culture that I want (other than for it to simply go away).

Burning Qur'ans has a long and distinguished tradition in Islam. It was started by Caliph Uthman, a Muslim! He burned loads of Qur'ans - each one different from the last! Nobody seems to get in a tizz about that. :))

"Where are the UN resolutions condemning Islamic violence in all its forms?" --such a thing would be called defamation of religion and another hate crime against Muslims; non-Muslims are not even allowed to bring up Shariah at the UN(see David
Littman) nor is there even an agreed upon definition of terrorism at the UN because all such resolutions have been blocked by the OIC (they must not include cases of "legitimate defense" i.e. any jihad cause you might name,
but certainly they would accept burning a Qur'an as bona fide terrorism).

If they think I am going to be shut up, they can think again!

Fscarn cited the slogan: "GET US OUT OF THE UN, AND THE UN OUT OF THE US!"

Right-o! The U.N. never was very united, and probably about half its members aren't nations, either.
The U.S. and the other free countries [Freedom House rates 89 of 192 U.N. members as "free"] of the world should leave the U.N. and establish a new body, called the "Free World Forum" or some such, and tell the rest to vamoose.

Those who oppose Qur'an burning have obviously never read the Qur'an.

SOmeone opened the subject of a terrorist bombing danger in Paris in Projct Camelot Forum, and I took the opportunity to explain in the shortest amount of words, what it was all about: The Burqa ban and then the islamics violence in Kashmir, and that islam was on the Marchl, worldwide, like marabunta.

Got to take the opportunities when they come along!

So I'm patting my own back.

Right, Jack. You know how water is the universal 'solvent'?.. it's even used in baptism. Well, Islam is the universal 'death threats' - universal 'blood lust' - universal 'hate' - it's the universal enemy of all the people. They love death more than we love life.

Hello Jihad Watch.

Mob attacks art lovers at Istanbul cocktail party

A mob enraged at public alcohol consumption attacked guests at a cocktail party outside an art gallery in Istanbul, leaving five injured, witnesses and officials said Wednesday.

Up to 50 men armed with sticks, iron bars, knives and gas sprays, launched a "planned and organized" attack on the event in the downtown district of Tophane late Tuesday, gallery owner Nazim Dikbas told a press conference.

The attackers, believed to be local residents, shouted "Why are you drinking in the street?" and "Allahu Akbar" (God is Great), witnesses told NTV television.

"If the galleries had not rolled down the shutters immediately, it would have become a sort of lynching," Antonio Cosentino, an artist who was attending the event, told the Turkish Haberturk newspaper.

Organizers refused to blame the incident solely on alcohol consumption, pointing at already high-running tensions with residents of Tophane, a conservative district, over clashing lifestyles.

Well, there goes the gentrification of the neighborhood. The islamo-barbarians hate beauty and art, it's against their 'religion'.

Only in islam (and possibly the U.N.) is burning a quran a human rights violation, but burying a rape victim up to her shoulders and throwing rocks at her until she dies isn't.

Great idea, ebonystone, I wish it were possible. 89 countries forming the UDN, United Democratic Nations, only allowing in truly Democratic Nations. There will then be left the OIC of 56 countries and the rest, 57 countries, probably led by China and the Russian Federation (India and Brazil are then with us!).

Aunty Dhimmi is right too, about when condemning burning Qurans then also condemning burning or shredding bibles, as the authorities in Iran and Saudi Arabia do. Maybe burning Qurans can be some kind of retaliation against that from now on.

(As an aside, Bibles can now be stored on e-readers and thus imported.)

Daniel Pipes'artikel was great; he talked about the "Rushdie rules" concerning talking about Islam since 1989. Meaning Muslims may insult others but may not be insulted by others, at least in a few significant ways.

And he affirmed the favoritism Islam enjoys and the disparagement other religions suffer in Islamic countries.

In a worldwide view this is something all Muslims profit from and all infidels suffer from in a way. Because in the infidel-countries Islam has full equal rights with all other religions and life-convictions. THIS is what should be addressed in the UN or UDN.

coureges....
theres her e-mail.....send her an e-mail.
We did.
Told her she has no clue....

in fact everyone should e-mail her...

Kathleen Parker is well known for her silly articles. Someone should check out whether she has any financial links to those she so ardently defends.

This is mind boggling stuff. From a previous column by Kathleen Parker: 'The Ground Zero mosque must be built' --"The Muslims who want to build this mosque didn't fly airplanes into skyscrapers. They don't support terrorism. By what understanding do we assign guilt to all for the actions of a relative few? ...the more compelling point is that mosque opponents may lose by winning. Radical Muslims have set cities afire because their feelings were hurt. When a Muslim murdered filmmaker Theo van Gogh in Amsterdam, it was because his feelings were hurt. Ditto the Muslims who rioted about cartoons depicting the image of Muhammad and sent frightened doodlers into hiding.

"This is why plans for the mosque near Ground Zero should be allowed to proceed, if that's what these Muslims want. We teach tolerance by being tolerant. We can't insist that our freedom of speech allows us to draw cartoons or produce plays that Muslims find offensive and then demand that they be more sensitive to our feelings...the tolerance we urge the Muslim world to embrace as we exercise our right to free expression, and revel in the glory and the gift of irreverence, is the same we must embrace when Muslims seek to express themselves peacefully."

Can there be a better example of bad logic, lack of knowledge, and scared-rabbit appeasement?

This is from her new column: "When we were attacked by terrorists nine years ago, our hearts were broken. They still are...We might never be able to agree on some things, but let's agree not to tolerate hatred — toward Muslims, Jews, Christians, atheists or any others...
Let's agree not to use inflammatory language. Let's agree to call out and condemn those who would incite riot, whether it's an imam who orders the death of a cartoonist or the preacher who wants to burn another man's holy book.

Let's agree that sometimes we will disagree but that none of this makes any sense if worshiping the creator means we must destroy each other in the process. Peace be upon us all. Or, as we say around here, God bless."

Note, murder of a cartoonist equated with burning a book
on the scale of crimes deserving condemnation. Can't we all just get along, Kathleen?

The more I think about this, the more I think we should be burning a koran EVERY DAY. It seems to expediting the true face of islamists and is waking people up.

WE NON-MUSLIM NATIONS MUST ALSO DEMAND U.N BODY TO PROTECT AGAINST MISTREATMENT OF HOLY BOOKS OF OTHER RELIGIONS AS HATE CRIME.WE MUST ALSO DEMAND THE DESECRATION AND DESTRUCTION OF NON-MUSLIM RELIGIOUS MONUMENTS AS HATE CRIME.WE MUST ALSO WORK IN THE SAME MEASURES AS MUSLIMS .
WE NON-MUSLIMS ARE TREATED BY MUSLIMS AS WORTHLESS HUMAN BEINGS WHOSE RELIGION AND SENSITIVITIES ARE NOTHING WORTH RESPECT !
WE MUST WAKE UP AND WORK AGGRESSIVELY TOGETHER TO DEFEND OURSELVES.THEY ARE THINKING ALL NON-MUSLIM WORLD AS THEIR SLAVES WHO ARE GOING TO BE CONQUERED IN THE NEAR FUTURE !
WE NON-MUSLIMS HAVE BEEN NICE AND KIND TO THE MUSLIMS BUT THEY NEVER EVER RECIPROCATE IN ANY MANNER.WE HAVE LET THEM BUILD THEIR MOSQUES.THEY NEVER LET US BUILD OUR CHURCHES AND TEMPLES.WE NEVER HARASS THEM AND LET THEM LIVE IN PEACE.BUT THEY NEVER LET OTHER RELIGIONS IN THEIR MIDST.ISLAM IS ALWAYS ONE-SIDED.ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

"Note, murder of a cartoonist equated [by Kathleen Parker]with burning a book on the scale of crimes deserving condemnation."

Rather like the FBI's report on terrorism, which cites a PETA raid on a mink farm, freeing the minks, as one (1) incident, and the 9-11 attacks, in which nearly 3000 people were killed as another (1) incident.

"Those who oppose Qur'an burning have obviously never read the Qur'an."

Great line, tanstaafl! Wish I'd thought of it.

It's unlikely that anyone is going to stand up against the U.N. and OIC if they can't stand up for a single girl in trouble. This is my two cents worth on Molly Norris. There's no reason for us to expect greatness from anyone but one might hope that men will at least do one small thing for a fellow human being.

http://nodhimmitude.blogspot.com/2010/09/hello-molly.html

I'll up the ante, Wellington. We'll demand an international withholding of aid to any state or quasi-government (that's you, PA) that refuses to prosecute for murder the perpetrator of an honor killing or the murder of an apostate from Islam. Let's also secure condemnation for any state that refuses permission for the building of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues.

Mr. Larsen, you've hit the nail on the head.

Frankly, with a gaggle of Islamic dictatorships backed by China, Russia, and Cuba on the HRC, the UN is not worth a stale turd from a monkey.

In Egypt, Pakistan .. holy bible has been burned many times, churches has been burned down ... Christains didnot kill or murder or rape any muslims. If they want UN to condemn burning koran please do condemn muslims' burning of other holy books too.

Who cares what the UN thinks? I've turned down the opportunity to take part in their "peacekeeping" missions. I can think of nothing more cowardly than wearing a UN-blue helmet. That means I would be required to stand idly by and watch while innocents are slaughtered or while UN soldiers sell them into various kinds of slavery. I refuse to participat in the UN's crimes agains humanity!

My motto is "Don't shoot until you see the blue of their helmets."

Looks as though the next big SIOA protest rally needs to be outside the UN.

Tackle the 'Islamophobia' nonsense head on: by publicising the 'Tears of Jihad', the estimated 270 million-and-counting human toll of Islam's 1400-year-long orgy/ ritualistic bloodbath of mass murder, mass enslavement, mass rape, robbery, vandalism, desecration and cultural annihilation on three continents, Europe, Africa and Asia (and now also just getting started on two more, namely the Americas and Australia - preliminary mass-murder raids comprising the 9/11 jihad ghazwa raid in the USA killing 3000, the jihad bombing against Jews in Buenos Aires, and the Bali jihadist bombing which killed 88 Australian citizens). And publicising the 'sacred' texts that permit, prescribe and encourage that mass-murdering mass-enslaving mass-pillaging imperial program. And drawing attention to the barbaric cruelty of sharia, most notably the religion-based apartheid that is the dhimmi system. Read out loud the 'Pact of Omar', clause by ugly clause, along with printed-out or photocopied copies of some of the later 'rules for dhimmis' as elaborated by other Muslim jurists across dar al Islam (e.g. in India and Persia); then rip those vile manifestos for oppression into shreds, and burn them, for they deserve to be burnt.

In 2010 the three days of formal remembrance of the dead - Hallowe'en, All Saints Day, All Souls' Day - fall on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday respectively. So Hallowe'en, Sunday October 31, is available. A good day for street theatre.

The islamic states should condemn themselves and their barbarian hordes for the thousands of human rights violations they commit annually. Why were these savages allowed to take over the UN? The UN has been a discredited, worthless, bloated money pit for decades but now it resembles a Twilight Zone marathon with an annual parade of the clowns to break the monotony. Nobody takes it seriously except the Marxist bureaucrats barricaded inside their plush offices putting the final touches on the NWO; Obama; and the simian members of the OIC.

Islam and muslims dominate the world stage; every day we read about their heinous atrocities against non-muslims, honor killings, threats to conquer the world, and terror attacks. If it's not muslim violence stealing the headlines, it is muslim grievance theater and demands for blasphemy laws throughout the world. I am so sick of islam and muslims I could scream!

Why be at all concerned about the continued enslavement of non-Muslims in Africa, the refugees who remain in Darfur, or the atrocities being committed against the Kuffar throughout the Dar al Islam, as long as we can all get excited about the burning that never took place?

"I am so sick of islam and muslims I could scream!"

I imagine there came a point where people said the same thing about the Fascists' and the Nazis'.

Feel exactly the same as you, susanp.

Yes, and along with the Tears of Jihad and the texts that brought it forth and continue to inspire the culture of hate today, along with putting the OIC, the "new Caliphate" on the defensive for once concerning "Islamophobia", the UN can be called upon to live up to its charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and condemn Jihad and Shariah as ideologies in flagrant violation of the charter and adamantly reject them in the name of the nations of the world and all civilized peoples. That would include, as well, rejecting the Cairo Declaration as a violation of the charter.

Perhaps a pointless exercise vis a vis the United Nations but a useful educational opportunity for Americans.

The last word on the Kathleen Parkers of the world might come from Bruce Bawer in "Surrender":

'I inform the proud Muslim people of the world that the author of the Satanic Verses book, which is against Islam, the Prophet and the Koran, and all those involved in its publication who are aware of its content we sentence to death. I ask all the Muslims to execute them wherever they find them.' Ayatollah Khomeini 2/14/89...

"The (Rushdie) fatwa reflected that the jihadis proper targets didn't just include vessels and buildings, they also include Western freedoms, above all freedom of speech. The Rushdie fatwa marked the beginning of a new era of pressure and intimidation designed to bring down Western freedom of speech and with it freedom generally.

"We live in a time when Tariq Ramadan, the very personification of the Shariafication of the West is awarded respect and positions of honor while Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the embodiment of individual liberty, lives under 24-hour armed guard. (Salman Rushdie has become) an entire class of men and women who live under round the clock police protection in Western democracies because of what they have said or written about Islam...the question before us is this: do we love our freedoms as much as they hate them? At least one thing seems certain: against people who are ready to die in the cause of destroying freedom, people who are unwilling to speak up for freedom for fear of being called a racist or Islamophobe don't stand much chance of victory...free speech is in crisis. To respond with the "accomodation" recommended by so many journalists, politicians, and intellectuals would be simply to submit, to abandon freedom, embrace dhimmitude, and hope for the best from our new overlords. The West's unwavering principle, rather, must be a refusal to sacrifice or compromise liberty--no matter what."

A blast from the past: one Conor Cruise O'Brien, a formidable Irish writer, in 1994, on the subject of Salman Rushdie and the danger to free speech:

http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/islam-back-to-the-dark-ages-we-should-not-repeal-the-enlightenment-to-appease-ayatollahs-says-conor-cruise-obrien-1382946.html

"Islam: back to the Dark Ages: We should not repeal the Enlightenment to appease Ayatollahs, says Conor Cruise O'Brien".

Read it, everyone. It's brilliant, it takes no prisoners, and it is in places witheringly sarcastic and tearingly funny. Here's how it begins:

"THE ECONOMIST has devoted more than 30 columns to a 'survey' on the subject of how to love fundamentalist Islam.

"As I realise that I stand in need of instruction on this subject, I read the survey with interest. Specifically, I was curious to read what it would say about the fatwa sentencing Salman Rushdie to death. I thought it would be difficult to avoid this topic in any sustained discussion of the relationship between fundamentalist Islam and the West.

"Difficult, but not impossible, as I found when I had ploughed my way through that survey.

"Not a word about Salman Rushdie, unless perhaps we are to understand his case somehow to be subsumed in the following paragraph about the case of Iran, in the context of the hope for 'harmony' between the West and fundamentalist Islam:

'The hope (of harmony) even survived the Iranian revolution of 1979 . . . Iran's revolutionaries started out as snarling enemies. They can still growl and bite. But time, and the sobering experience of government, have made them noticeably milder in their foreign policy as well as in what they do at home.'

"This is the sort of thing that British and French devotees of appeasement used to write in the mid-Thirties.

'Time, and the sobering experience of government' were forever about to do wonders for Adolf Hitler, and we may be sure that these factors will exert an equally chastening influence on the character and disposition of Ayatollah Khamenei (sic)"...

"There is no distinction, in Islam, between the spheres of religion and politics, and no terrestrial limit to the dual jurisdiction of such an official. For infidels to seek 'harmony' with Islam is an illusion. The only way of attaining harmony with Islam is by conversion.
The Economist seems to think that this might not be too bad an idea. "...

And, to go with Conor Cruise O'Brien's splendid diatribe, let's hear it from Mark Goldblatt, in 'Reason' magazine online, earlier this year.

He was prompted to write it by the failed May 1st Times Square jihad bombing.

I'll quote the whole thing, right here.

http://reason.com/archives/2010/05/14/the-poet-versus-the-prophet

'The Poet Versus the Prophet: On standing up to totalitarian Islam'

Mark Goldblatt | May 14, 2010

'I got to know the poet Allen Ginsberg towards the end of his life.

'Not very well, just a nodding acquaintance, but after he died I attended a memorial in his honor at the City University Graduate School.

'At that service, his personal assistant related a story about Ginsberg’s reaction to the death sentence pronounced on the novelist Salman Rushdie by Ayatollah Khomeini in 1989.

'Rushdie’s “crime,” you’ll recall, was writing a provocative, perhaps even blasphemous novel inspired by the life of Muhammad called The Satanic Verses.

'Though I might be screwing up a few details, the gist of the story was as follows:

'Soon after news of the fatwa broke, Ginsberg and his assistant climbed into the back seat of a taxi in Manhattan.

'After a glance at the cab driver’s name, Ginsberg politely inquired if he was a Muslim.

'When the cabbie replied that he was, Ginsberg asked him what he thought about the death sentence on Rushdie.

'The cabbie answered that he thought that Rushdie’s book was disrespectful of Islam, and that the Ayatollah had every right to do what he had done.

'At this point, according to his assistant, Ginsberg, one of the gentlest men ever to walk the planet, flew into a rage, screaming at the cabbie as he continued to drive, “Then I shit on your religion! Do you hear me? I shit on Islam! I shit on Muhammad! Do you hear? I shit on Muhammad!”

'Ginsberg demanded that the cabbie pull over.

'The cabbie complied, and, without paying the fare, Ginsberg and his assistant climbed out. He was still screaming at the cabbie as the car drove off.

'I’ve had a couple of weeks now to think about Ginsberg cursing out that cabbie, and cursing out Islam and Muhammad.

' You see, I live in Manhattan, three blocks from Times Square.

'As near as I can determine, I was walking with a friend about thirty feet from the car bomb on May 1st right around the time it was supposed to detonate.

'Except for the technical incompetence of a Muslim dirtbag named Faisal Shahzad, I and my friend would likely be dead now.

'Note the phrase: “Muslim dirtbag.”

'Neither term by itself accounts for the terrorist act he attempted to perpetrate; both terms, however, are equally complicit in it.

'It might have been a crapshoot of nature and nurture that wrought a specimen like Shahzad, but it was Islam that inspired him, that gave his fecal stain of a life its depth and its justification.

'Why is that so difficult to admit?

'Let me ask the question another way: Where’s the rage?

'Why won’t anyone say in public what Ginsberg said in the back seat of that cab?

'If Islam justifies, or is understood by millions of Muslims to justify, setting off a bomb in Times Square, then I shit on Islam.

'There are times for interfaith dialogue, for mutual respect and compassion.

'This isn’t one of them.

'Shahzad’s car bomb was parked in front of the offices of Viacom, the parent company of the Comedy Central, which airs the program South Park.

'Last month, the creators of South Park decided to poke fun at the Prophet Muhammad—just as they’d poked fun at Moses and Jesus many times in the past.

'Death threats followed. It’s too early to connect the Times Square bomb plot to the South Park blasphemy, but police have not ruled it out.

'If Shahzad was offended by an animated cartoon

'and decided to defend the Prophet’s name

'by killing hundreds of civilians—mothers with their babies in strollers, wide-eyed teenagers in tour groups, husbands and wives out for a night on the town—

'then I’ll say, along with the poet, I shit on Muhammad.'

'Americans characterize our collective deference towards the feelings of Muslims as “political correctness.”

'The phrase may be apt with respect to certain ethnic and religious minorities,

'but our tip-toeing around Islamic sensibilities is nothing more than plain, old-fashioned cowardice.

'MSNBC stooge Lawrence O’Donnell, for example, repeatedly slandered Mormonism during the 2008 presidential campaign as a sidebar to his creepily obsessive verbal jihad against then-candidate Mitt Romney.

'But when asked by radio host Hugh Hewitt whether he would insult Muhammad the way he’d insulted Joseph Smith, O’Donnell replied with rare candor:

“Oh, well, I’m afraid of what the... that’s where I’m really afraid. I would like to criticize Islam much more than I do publicly, but I’m afraid for my life if I do.... Mormons are the nicest people in the world. They’ll never take a shot at me. Those other people, I’m not going to say a word about them.”

'That’s the problem in a nutshell. But it’s not just O’Donnell’s problem. It’s our problem. America’s problem. The West’s problem.

'We lack the moral courage to walk the walk, to put our individual lives on the line in order to defend the principles of free thought and free expression—the very principles that allowed the Judeo-Christian West to leave the Islamic East in the dust, literally and figuratively, three centuries ago.

'When Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh was murdered for producing a short movie critical of Islam’s treatment of women in 2004, where were the public screenings of the film?

'When Muslims in several countries rioted against pen and ink images of Muhammad printed in a Danish newspaper in 2005, where were the public billboards of those sketches?

'And when the creators of South Park trotted out the Prophet in a ridiculous bear costume, and received death threats in return, where were the mass-produced tee shirts of that image?

'I’ll take a size-medium, cotton if possible, and I’ll wear it in Times Square.

'Since 2001, many Americans have asked how they can contribute in a direct way to the war against totalitarian Islam.

'Now we have an answer. If it’s legal, and likely to offend the radicals, just do it.

'That seems straightforward enough.

'But how many of us will have the nerve to stand up to a million or so Muslim dirtbags, and to scores of millions, perhaps hundreds of millions, of their fellow travelers and psychic enablers, and say in unison, “You want to kill the Enlightenment, you’re going to have to come through me.”

Bravo, Mark Goldblatt.

ebonystone and everyone else who enjoys irony:

An anagram of United is Untied. Now I could go for an Untied Nations, provided my country was the first to shake off the shackles, and stand like men. (And women, of course).

He, he, dda, this O'Donnel really sums up our western government, academe, and media rather well:

“Oh, well, I’m afraid of what the... that’s where I’m really afraid. I would like to criticize Islam much more than I do publicly, but I’m afraid for my life if I do.... Mormons are the nicest people in the world. They’ll never take a shot at me. Those other people, I’m not going to say a word about them.”

Isn't that really the bottom line? They're afraid of Islam. Ha ha ha!.... brrr.. shiver.. Fear!!! ... of those "other people." It's Islam's ticket to ride on.

Thanks for posting that, dda, it's brilliant!

Free speech must be defended, a message must be sent.

Pamela, Robert, David, Geert, and others, are great spokesmen for the effort to wake up Americans to the dangers of Islam, and they have pointed out that we, the people, having the right to free speech, also have the right to draw cartoons of anything we want to, including the warrior Muhammad, as well as the right to burn anything we want to, including the right to burn Mein Kampf or my Koran.

But, if they want to have an even bigger impact, in addition to talking/writing about how Islam affects free speech, THEY ALSO NEED TO PROMOTE THE EXERCISE OF FREE SPEECH, ie: they need to promote DOING things that reinforce the whole concept of free speech. For example, they need to promote draw Muhammad days and they need to promote Koran burnings. A "National Free Speech Day" may be an option. Whatever/however/whenever it's done, it's sure to garner Muslim outrage. But that's a good thing because it's Muslim outrage that gets MSM coverage.

A message needs to be sent, a strong message, a message that Americans aren't going to sit by while free speech is trampled by Muslims, a message that will get the MSM's attention BECAUSE it will upset Muslims, something the MSM tries its best not to do and quickly condemns anyone who does.

A message needs to be sent. A message MUST be sent.

Is there anyone in the U.N. who would remind these creatures that they were not elected to tell Americans what they can and cannot do? Is there anyone there to remind them that Americans are beholden to their own Constitution, and not to their "freedmphobia"? Is there anyone there to remind them that this is a sovereign country, and not a province of their tyranny? Is there anyone there to remind them in no uncertain language that freedom of speech includes burning the Koran or blaspheming Islam as much as we desire, while their members' "constituents" -- aka Muslims -- can burn Bibles, Torahs, copies of the Constitution, and even Playboy foldouts with impunity?

I guess not. Best the U.S. should leave the U.N., which is little more than a club for dictators, tyrants, parasites, and Western wussies.

Would a muslim be prosecuted for burning a Bible?

This is exactly what they are doing in the UK and the last Labour Government brought out some very onerous hate laws.

In the UK, even 3 year old children have to be reported to the authorities if the nursery school teacher hears them say something racist. Whether it is racist or not is determined by the teacher, I think. They have to report the child even if the child does not even understand what they said and the other child is not upset in any way.

If the child is really saying racist things and this is a very broad area these days, then the nursery should let the parents know and try to put a stop to it, but REPORT A 3 YEAR OLD CHILD to the authorities for racism!!!

Don't some of these muslims think that their behaviour might have some link to why many people do not like them very much and for some people being pretty blunt about their dislike. They really cannot go around the world pushing themselves in everywhere, seemingly contemptuous of our Western ways and then complain if one of these Westerners takes exception to THEIR stance.

I agree - this would be disastrous.
Can anyone tell me WHY the American public seems oblivious to what's happening? Why people do not want to hear about this? Pastor Jones's bonfire threat might have woken a few up, and certainly those who comment on this website don't need waking up, yet in my circle of life, work, family, neighbors - no one wants to talk about this. How/can you wake them up??? Or even bother?

Just keep trying.

Big Lies gain traction by sheer repetition.

But the truth can gain traction by the same method.

You'll find good advice on how to wake people up, at this website:

http://www.citizenwarrior.com/

For example, this has great advice about how we should present this stuff.

http://www.citizenwarrior.com/search/label/approach%20training

I - having a huge Irish and Scots component in my ancestry and family cultural tradition (which means: passionate and verbose) - really need to read and reread the advice I've just linked for you, because I find it very, very hard to stay cool, calm and collected - 'just the facts, ma'am' - when discussing the monstrosity that is sharia and the horror that the sharia-pushers want to inflict upon all six billion humans inhabiting planet earth.

I also need to remember - keep it simple, stupid, and ...keep it BRIEF. My poor husband generally has the job of trying to rein me in so I don't 'information-dump' on people at church...

At the same 'citizen warrior' website there are some concrete suggestions about how to answer typical objections:

http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2010/04/answers-to-objections-when-you-talk.html

The site by Citizen Warrior (who used to post here using the handle jdamn) is superb.
