Rauf has gotten a free bully pulpit there to lecture America on arrogance, and peddle tired platitudes about common values and tolerance.
You've got to admit, the man knows arrogance -- a fact amply demonstrated by the attitude with which he and his fellow developers have approached the mosque project: We're going to build it, and you're going to tolerate it.
In fact, you're going to like it, or you must be chock-full of hatred.
As noted here before, any other developer seeking to make such a major change to an area -- let alone one so sacred and emotionally charged-- for the sake of his project would encounter resistance and questions about the merits, purpose, and funding of that project. It would be all the more so for a developer that acted so aggressively, and with such a sense of entitlement.
And arrogance.
That's just the beginning. Read on, though you may want to do so sitting down. "Imam Rauf: What's right with Islam," from CNN, September 12:
(CNN) -- The world wants to like America. The guiding values that Thomas Jefferson articulated so eloquently -- life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness -- resonate strongly around the world, transcending countless superficial and cultural differences, not because these are American values, but because they are universal values, embedded in the human heart.
Why is a man whose religion and prophet call for the death penalty for apostates lecturing us on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?
Does Rauf repudiate the death penalty for apostasy from Islam?
Americans must outgrow the unbecoming arrogance that leads us to assert that America somehow owns a monopoly on goodness and truth -- a belief that leads some to view the world as but a stage on which to play out the great historical drama: the United States of America versus the Powers of Evil.
Straw man argument: who believes America "owns a monopoly on goodness and truth?"
The language of good versus evil is precisely the language of the fundamentalists whose worldview we oppose. Once we define as evil those who counter us, we lose the moral high ground and begin to descend an exceedingly slippery ethical slope.
Sufis teach that we first must battle and destroy the evil within ourselves by shining upon it the good within, and then we learn to battle the evil in others by helping their higher selves gain control of their lower selves.
Your brethren in Afghanistan who are rioting over a Qur'an burning that didn't even happen -- not that their behavior would be justified if it did -- seem more in need of that message than just about anyone.
To battle the evil of others by responding in kind and exhibiting equally violent aggressive behavior is to flout the very ethic of our religious traditions; it is also to violate the Geneva conventions, international law, the United Nations, world opinion, and even our own Bill of Rights. If we truly believe that God is on our side, rather than making sure that we are on God's side, we slip into the illusion that sees no measure as too extreme -- a delusion that captivates every extremist heart.
How are you combating that "delusion" in your co-religionists?
We have two powerful tools with which to bridge the chasm separating the United States from the Muslim world: faith in the basic goodness of humanity and trust in the power of sincerity and dialogue to overcome differences with our fellow human beings.
Qur'an 98:6: Non-believers are the "vilest of creatures." Qur'an 3:28: "Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them..." And Qur'an 5:51: "whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them."
Something to overcome there, indeed. All of those texts, by the way, come from pro-Islamic translators, provided by a pro-Islamic group at the University of Southern California.
Now, read carefully:
This faith and this trust are taught by all the Abrahamic traditions. They define the Abrahamic ethic, which lies at the core of our American Declaration of Independence, and America needs to rely more heavily on them, as do our fellow actors on the stage of history.
Islam teaches a supersessionist, revisionist version of history whereby Adam himself, Abraham, David, and Jesus were Muslims, and advanced Islamic teachings. As such, Islam believes Christian and Jewish scriptures to be corrupted.
Therefore, it is necessary to take such talk of "Abrahamic traditions" and "sacred scriptures" with a very generous grain of salt, since Islam believes the true Judaism and true Christianity to conform to Islamic teachings, and that Muhammad came to rectify once and for all the "errors" of the scriptures as we know them, restoring the allegedly authentic "Abrahamic" faith.
What's right with America and what's right with Islam have a lot in common. At their highest levels, both worldviews reflect an enlightened recognition that all of humankind shares a common Creator -- that we are, indeed, brothers and sisters.
Again, Qur'an 98:6. And don't forget the "apes and swine," as the Qur'an refers to Jews and Christians in Qur'an 2:63-66; 5:59-60; and 7:166.
In 1883, when Emma Lazarus wrote the words that celebrate the beautiful lady who stands so resolutely in New York's harbor, she was not imagining an isolationist empire-nation bent only on pursuing its own unilateral vision for the world. [...]
How can an isolationist nation go around pursuing its unilateral vision for the world?
Skipping over some glowing generalities about qualities of America that Sharia would obliterate, here's the kicker:
I therefore entertain a wish, shared by my reading of my noble scripture, the Quran, regarding all religions, including Judaism and Christianity -- the very same wish entertained by all who have taken part in interfaith dialogue across the ages.
Rauf, did you change your mind? Remember when you were quoted at Rights4All, run by the media arm of Cairo University in an article called "The Most Prominent Imam in New York: 'I Do Not Believe in Religious Dialogue"?
You said: "This phrase is inaccurate. Religious dialogue as customarily understood is a set of events with discussions in large hotels that result in nothing. Religions do not dialogue and dialogue is not present in the attitudes of the followers, regardless of being Muslim or Christian. The image of Muslims in the West is complex which needs to be remedied."
With lies?
Moving on down the homestretch:
I wish for humankind to drink deeply from that rich, nourishing current of spiritual traditions -- those immutable principles of divine origin that have been given form in so many ways in human societies. Religion must be more than mere custom or habit, more than the transient styles and cultural fashions of passing ages.
Read that again in light of Islam's revisionist claims to the Abrahamic tradition.
Religion, which speaks to the eternal in us, must be the foundation of a robust, harmonious society and the animating principle of the whole life of a people.
A total system. An all-encompassing system. Interesting. Do we get to pick which one?
It never ceases to amaze me how people can be so easily mislead by what Iman Rauf is telling them. Over the past months we have seen the consummate dhimmis' among us accepting whatever Rauf says at face value. They could not possibly conceive the notion that he would not be telling the truth apparently. If only they delved into the true teachings of the prophet Mohamed on their own. But we have seen Presidents and politicians accept what Muslims tell them never thinking that could they be deceiving me? (Taquiya) or telling me half truths? Indeed our last president was convinced that Islam was a religion of peace simply because one Iman told him so, even Condeleeza Rice bought into the myth.
It is unfortunate but the American people see very little of what is defined as the moderate Muslim that Iman Rauf claims to be. If Rauf is Moderate then where in trouble now.
The American People have, I believe become rightfully suspicious of many in the Muslim Community as they read what is written in the Qu'ran, as they see the behavior of Muslims across the Middle East. They are learning and understanding the teachings of Islam are not moderate at all, and they are seeing what is happening in EU Countries where Muslim populations have gotten stronger footholds and are demanding sharia law. We see already the microcosm
that is Dearborn,Michigan, and places in Minnesota that have large Islamic factions.
Those in America who are taking the time to understand what Islam is all about and how it wreaks havoc all over the planet in efforts to take over countries feel they have a duty to protect America from this growing totalitarian ideology.
All one has to is look at the make up the countries of the Middle East. Over 90 Pct. of them are not free and are run by dictators, then in turn look at Western Countries where you will find that 96 pct of them are free and have democratic governments, that alone speaks volumes about Islam.
As the Lord High Executioner said in "The Mikado":
I've got a little list of people who never would be missed."

Great words from Imam Rauf. If I ever accidentally swallow poison and need to hurl, I'll make sure to read them again...
Maybe I'm mistaken, but he seems like a very sly and slithery snake.
Brilliant post; thanks, Marisol.
Christopher Hitchens mentions this statement from the good Imam:
QUOTE
The more one reads through his [Rauf's] statements, the more alarming it gets. For example, here is Rauf's editorial on the upheaval that followed the brutal hijacking of the Iranian elections in 2009. Regarding President Obama, he advised that:
He [Obama] should say his administration respects many of the guiding principles of the 1979 revolution—to establish a government that expresses the will of the people; a just government, based on the idea of Vilayet-i-faquih, that establishes the rule of law.
Roughly translated, Vilayet-i-faquih is the special term promulgated by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini to describe the idea that all of Iranian society is under the permanent stewardship (sometimes rendered as guardianship) of the mullahs.* Under this dispensation, "the will of the people" is a meaningless expression, because "the people" are the wards and children of the clergy. It is the justification for a clerical supreme leader, whose rule is impervious to elections and who can pick and choose the candidates and, if it comes to that, the results. It is extremely controversial within Shiite Islam. (Grand Ayatollah Sistani in Iraq, for example, does not endorse it.) As for those numerous Iranians who are not Shiites, it reminds them yet again that they are not considered to be real citizens of the Islamic Republic.
I do not find myself reassured by the fact that Imam Rauf publicly endorses the most extreme and repressive version of Muslim theocracy. The letterhead of the statement, incidentally, describes him as the Cordoba Initiative's "Founder and Visionary." Why does that not delight me, either?

Rauf is now claiming that, should the mosque not be built, it will give a "boost" to the jihadists.
Chutspah!
I think it highly duplicitious that Rauf uses the Arabic legal term "vilayat i-faquih." Other than a handful of Islamic scholars, who readily would know what that word means?
Religion must be more than mere custom or habit, more than the transient styles and cultural fashions of passing ages.
Religion, which speaks to the eternal in us, must be the foundation of a robust, harmonious society and the animating principle of the whole life of a people.
But the word religion doesn't apply to mahoundianism... That's something that anyone reading that drivel should remember.
I just want you to know, each time you use the term "mahoundian" you really hurt my feelings. I feel so bad.
No just kidding. Please continue to use it - it makes any rational person ignore everything you say.
Interestingly enough, in reading through a lot of the comments at CNN, I keep seeing the same idea expressed over and over again. It's basically:
"I have nothing against muslims and I supported the mosque being built there UNTIL I saw the Imam on CNN threaten America with muslim violence if he doesn't get his way."
From just that small sample, it seems that's the impression that people are getting from this guy.
I think he really screwed himself when he made that (not so) veiled threat, and now it's not just those of us who are hyper-aware that understood it, more and more mainstreamers are hearing it too, at least on CNN.
Of course, if you go to HuffPo, it's probably all "Allahu AKBAR!!!"
The gall of this man to be lecturing the U.S. and the West about tolerance etc.! It is enough to make you puke!
Rauf Says, “To battle the evil of others by responding in kind and exhibiting equally violent aggressive behavior is to flout the very ethic of our religious traditions; it is also to violate the Geneva conventions, international law, the United Nations, world opinion, and even our own Bill of Rights.”
Translation:
Moral relativism at its best. Just because the U.S and other nations in the West are fighting ‘radical’ Islam because of 9/11 and other attacks means that we are ‘exhibiting equally violent aggressive behavior’
Our behavior is defensive because we were attacked.
If we really were ‘exhibiting equally violent aggressive behavior’ they would have already been destroyed. Who does not think, that if and when they get WMD’s they won’t use them against us?
Rauf says,“We have two powerful tools with which to bridge the chasm separating the United States from the Muslim world: faith in the basic goodness of humanity and trust in the power of sincerity and dialogue to overcome differences with our fellow human beings.”
If this were actually true, we wouldn’t have any ‘differences with our fellow human beings’. Where is the ‘sincerity and dialogue’ concerning the Victory mosque? It is their way or the highway! All we are asking is that only 1 mosque (of over 2000 existent mosques) in the U.S. is not built right there out of respect, and our dialogue falls on death ears!
Rauf says,“The guiding values that Thomas Jefferson articulated so eloquently -- life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness -- resonate strongly around the world, transcending countless superficial and cultural differences, not because these are American values, but because they are universal values, embedded in the human heart.”
If Rauf genuinely believes that ‘these are universal values embedded in the human heart’ then why is he not expending his efforts to bring these universal principles to the places on this planet where they are the least in evidence and not at all embedded and need them the most; like most of the Muslim world? Not the U.S. and the West! We already have these values here (albeit diminishing rapidly under some of our ‘left twit’ governments).
Saudi Arabia might be a good place to start with that ‘universal’ value ‘liberty’.
Surely they deserve that ‘universal’ value liberty, so they may be able to build a church, or have and read a bible. How about it Rauf?
Just more Taqiyya from a master of Taqiyya!!!
My favorite articles on Jihad Watch is when Robert's on-going commentary exposes and destroys the arguments of Muslims and their apologists. And this was no exception - until I realised it was posted by MARISOL.
Kudos, Marisol! You are learning well from the Master (Robert) and are coming into your own as a Master Islamic BS Deconstructionist!
Well, I don't think that, as a mahoundian, you can speak at all about rationality, Yusef, since your brain sure works like those of the "intellectuals" features on MEMRITV videos...
"No just kidding. Please continue to use it - it makes any rational person ignore everything you say."
----------------
Bullshit. You really just don't get us at all. Nor do you have any idea what a "rational" person thinks.
How could you?
On an earlier thread you claimed I am the only one who disapproves of the Islamic ideology and Mahoundians who worship it, and you stated that you Mahometans were not going to change simply because Eleanor doesn't like what you Saracens do.
I laughed myself to sleep that night.
No, just kidding. Please continue to make an ass out of yourself Yusef - it makes any rational person ignore everything you say.
Thanks! Also one of my favorite formats.
Thanks Sheik..She just couldn't do it,could she..There's the glitch..a huge glitch that they all have..The deciding factor..The "smoke" factor..
forced smile... check

Go to Saudi Arabia and talk about tolerance over there where it's realy needed.
@ Yusef YK
You talk about rationality .......
In Islam, 'reason' is 'aqeel'. And you only have 'aqeel' if you accept everything the Qur'an says without question. And as Al Qur'an says, for example, that the Earth is flat, you do not have reason (aqeel) if you reject this nonsense.
So, who are you to talk about anyone being 'rational'? Your entire 'religion' is built on the shifting foundations of irrationality.
Clown!
Yes, Yusef, its time your fellings were hurt. Permanently deporting infidel-hating parasitical trash like you would hurt them no end.
Yes, Yusef, its time your feelings were hurt. Permanently deporting infidel-hating parasitical trash like you would hurt them no end.
Nacazo, that does not fit the leftist-islamophilic narrative that all evils in the world are from the Western, Capitalist, Judeo-Christian Civilized World...
Remember how al-CNN reported on several attacks on Hindu and Sikh Indian students in Australia? My wife saw their reports and, as anyone still not taking PC/MC MSM nonsense with ten pinches of salt would have done, started wondering how that was possible, since Australians in general weren't racists or bigots. And she was right to be suspicious, because al-CNN deliberately omitted from its reports the fact that the attackers were Lebanese mahoundians, so that anyone watching that crap or reading about it on their website would be left thinking that caucasian Australians were responsible for it.
Just as the ayrab-mahoundian slave trade, lasting 4 times as long as it did in the West, is never criticized; nor are mahoundians ever confronted with having to offer apologies or pay reparations for all the horror their slavery caused to Africa. The same goes for mahoundian racism against blacks, which always makes me wonder how much a black person has to hate themselves to recite the shahahahahahada, ilahila allahswine rasullullah-booga-booga, and become a mahoundian.
Hi Mike,
I believe what Rauf is saying is that he is the dahwa that precedes jihad.
If we reject him, then the "extremists" will attack.
Not all Muslims are S.O.B.'s, but this one sure is.
http://schnellmann.org/taqiyyah.html
Muslims have TWO faces!
ONE is for the West to deceive the kuffar (unbelievers) according to the word of Allah 3:28, 5:51

Wrong time to be reading this - I was trying to eat my breakfast - now I'm having trouble keeping it down .
The hypocrisy is almost unbelievable .
And what a cheek - to lecture the enemy on his own soil about his so-called shortcomings .
In a sane society , he'd be run out of town . You know why people like him do what they do - because we let them
"...he [Rauf]seems like a very sly and slithery snake." -- traeh
You're being too kind. I watched that interview, too, and my instinctual response was crawling skin, hair standing up on the back of my neck, and physical illness. I can only surmise that there were millions of other viewers who had this same response.
"life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness -- they are universal values, embedded in the human heart."
Rauf likes to put himself squarely in the middle of American tradition, adroitly ignoring that his religion is anything but: his intention is to misuse that tradition to gain admittance for another tradition. We need only contemplate the history and tenets of Islam to realize this. I always am astonished people are unable or unwilling to apply the lessons of history: some are always applicable and never change.
"the unbecoming arrogance that leads us to assert that America somehow owns a monopoly on goodness and truth."
And this from a man whole religion again and again is claiming to be the truth and denouncing other religions too in the process? His arrogance must have struck him with temporary insanity here: this one is too easy for those Infidels who have bothered to read a bit about the inner workings of Islam.
"Once we define as evil those who counter us, we lose the moral high ground and begin to descend an exceedingly slippery ethical slope."
Which is exactly what the Quran is doing, and again Rauf is projecting the Quranic attitudes upon the Infidels.
"Sufis teach that we first must battle and destroy the evil within ourselves"
Oh, the Sufism card! And being a Sufi it is all about mysticism and spirituality and love. Bless you, at most I'd be willing to admit that Sufis are trying to make of Islam what Islam is not by transcending the core earthly and earthy messages. Why spirituality should make Islam in any way palatable is beyond me, and I see little reason to debate why such wishful thinking should be less interested in advancing the barbarisms of Islamic Law and claims: JW has given some examples of Sufi "tolerance" before. Really Sufism is not much more that the Gnosis of antiquity, a knowledge reserved for those who have received some special transmission not given to ordinary folk. And we are back with the arrogance again.
"To battle the evil of others by responding in kind and exhibiting equally violent aggressive behavior is to flout the very ethic of our religious traditions; it is also to violate the Geneva conventions, international law, the United Nations ..".
Rauf has obviously not read the Quran or the hadith in toto. Are there some abridged and corrected versions particularly reserved for Sufis? The Quran is a vile justification for responding in kind, and it demonstrates that if there is no such excuse it can be made up.
"trust in the power of sincerity and dialogue ..".
The gullibility and wishful thinking of the Infidel, don't you ever think of it differently. Or you'll learn otherwise to your sorrow if you do not look at the lessons of history.
"This faith and this trust are taught by all the Abrahamic traditions." and the rest of the posting.
Marisol says all that needs be said. Self pity, claims and denials out of contact with realities.
They have it down to a 't', don't they?
They tell Christians to turn the other cheek. They tell Jews to be good dhimmies. They appeal to the Secularists, Communists and progressives by appealing to the UN, Yuman Rites organizations, they invoke the Founding Fathers to the ignorant, they appeal to the naive with their deceitful, false appeals for 'justice', by which they mean sharia, etc etc.
Its diabolical, really.
Why fight it? Your children will be Muslims, anyway!
BTW, check this out everybody. Next time someone tries to call you "racist" for pointing out the truth about islame kindly refer them to this -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NF4ihLA_JY -- you'll like it, I think that "yusuf" bonehead jerkwater will like it too
SORRY, I copied it wrong here it is again -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NF-4ihLA_JY
Vomit-inducing stuff.
This guy has clothed himself in generalities and thrown over his shoulders a cloak of platitudes before bathing in treacle and presenting himself to the gullible media as a friend of American values.
Why on earth doesn't the media just ask him some specifics and keep asking them till he answers.
1. Do you support Hamas?
2. Do you condemn all suicide bombings?
3. Do you condemn punishment of apostates?
4. Do you wish to see Shariah law introduced into America at some future date?
5. Do you think Jews and Christians are Jews and Apes as stated in the Koran?
Etc etc.

People are easily misled because there was already in place, long before Rauf came along, a pre-existing template conducive to the type of language Rauf uses -- viz., the PC MC template. The only somewhat remarkable and surprising thing about all this is the smarmy facility Rauf has in knowing which soothing buttons to push to make the PC MC majority among us purr. I guess he's been busy studying reactions and verbiage in the various "bridge-building inter-faith" seminars and colloquia he's participated in over the years.
Heh. I guess this means that the NOI should probably give up any thoughts about converting "black dude" to Islam. :)
Who ever would have thought that "1984" would have been served to us on an Islamic platter.
Meeker, we've got a vilayet-e-faqih in America, too. It's called guardianship by Left-wing jurists. It ensures that no matter how much the American people elect conservative lawmakers and political executives or no matter how much they stand for traditional marriage, somebody's always there to protect creeping socialism and the sexual revolution.
I can't tell you how many people I run into who believe that sound byte!
The schools and even Christian churches have softened up people to tolerate and even to embrace Islam.
And, of course, the media are in there as well continuing with the whitewash of Islam.
Rauf is getting his place in the sun these days. How successful a propagandist is he? Well, quite successful in print, I think. On videotape, not so much.
Here's one on the compassion and beauty of Islam. And on top of all, she's a doctor!
Britain Charges Muslim Doctor with Modern-Day Slavery
The Sun 10 September 2010
By ANTHONY FRANCE
A DOCTOR has become the first person in the UK to be charged with modern-day slavery. Saeeda Khan, 68, is accused of smuggling a Tanzanian woman into the country and making her work for nothing at her £500,000 home.
The 50-year-old victim was allegedly forced to sleep on a mattress on the medic's kitchen FLOOR.
Khan and her late husband Zahid, also a doctor, at first paid the suspected slave just £10 a month - but the payments later stopped, police said.
Scotland Yard was tipped off to the woman's situation by an anti-slavery charity. Detectives from the Human Exploitation and Organised Crime Command, known as SCD9, swooped earlier this year at Khan's home in Harrow, North West London.
She will appear before City of Westminster Magistrates next Monday, charged with trafficking people for exploitation. Trading in slaves was made a criminal offence in the 19th century (...)
Rauf reminds me of another slippery snake, Tariq Ramadan...
You have to give cnn (if you drop one of the "ns" you get CN, hydrocyanic acid); we must award it full marks for its loyalty to its saudi masters.
Americans. What happened to your quaint custom involving tar & feathers, a rail and a free ride out of town? Instead your State Department sends the egregious imam on an all-expenses-paid not-a-fund-raiser tour of Dar Al-Islam.
Rauf's greatest ally in America is ignorance of Islam. This ignorance is diminishing with each passing year, though there is still way too much of it. It's a race against time and I'm bettin' snake-oil salesman Rauf knows this. What a slimy guy he is, but then look what he's selling.
he might just be more arrogant than Obama, I didn't think it was possible but he might have just done it.
Pour les lecteurs francophones, un article très intéressant intitulé : "comment on vous manipule avec le mot Islamophobie"
http://www.dieucafe.com/2010/09/13/comment-on-vous-manipule-avec-le-mot-islamophobie/
CNN! I begin to suspect that this network has been bought by Saudi or emirate interests. It has become an islamic propaganda bull-horn. The same goes for the BBC World Service, although this organization is payed by the British tax-payers.
To battle the evil of others by responding in kind and exhibiting equally violent aggressive behavior is to flout the very ethic of our religious traditions.
Our new moral leader is either a liar or is reading impaired. I guess the same would go for the journalists who let pass fantastic statements like this from the Imam.
*** 9:123 ***
O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you.
The central tradition of Islam is violence. Imagine that.
There's trouble in the air. It's time for Prez Barack Hussein to issue another apology to Moslems everywhere. That'll clear the whole mess up.
Do you only suspect that this has happened? They might even have been the first ones to cook up the pre-traumatic stress disorder to explain the Fort Hood act of jihad on American soil.
CNN... The most trusted name in islamophilia, doing its best to out-jazeera al-Jazeera.
FOX has a breaking news announcement that Rauf is about to speak about the mosque. This is about 8:20 Eastern time on Monday. Anybody know what's up?
Mahound is an alternate spelling of Mohammad, another of several...A Mahoundian is a worshipper of Mahound...There is no reason to feel insulted, the title is one you wear proudly on your sleeve...
He's talking to them "like he would if they were a pretty girl he wants to date"
"Please continue to use it - it makes any rational person ignore everything you say."
No, it doesn't. Mahoundian, Mahoundian, Mahoundian - right, swami?
You don't tell us what vocabulary to use, Muslim! Oh, and why don't you go and invent something, contribute to the world.
"My favorite articles on Jihad Watch are when Robert's on-going commentary exposes and destroys the arguments of Muslims and their apologists. And this was no exception - until I realized it was posted by MARISOL.
Kudos, Marisol! You are learning well from the Master (Robert) and are coming into your own as a Master Islamic BS Deconstructionist!"
Ditto. I thought the same thing. Brava.
Don't be taken in by the 'moderate' Sufi vs extremist Good Cop/Bad Cop routine. It's a load of taqiyya and the Sufis are just as violent as the rest of them... http://crombouke.blogspot.com/2010/01/twelve-tactics-of-taqiyya.html
A Muslim speaking about "rationality!"
hahahahahaha! That's funny. It's amazing how a people who have barely contributed anything to the world in 1400 years but mass-murder continue to think of themselves' so highly. That is the master brainwashing of Mo - "the superior peoples" - No, you're not. Get over yourselves. Islam is a blight on the world.
"In a sane society , he'd be run out of town . You know why people like him do what they do - because we let them."
Oh yeah. Concerning Islam/Muslims, combined with ignorance of Islam and idiotic political correctness, America has gone insane.
A perfect storm of insanity. That a mosque on GZ is even being debated is unbelievable.
Rauf should be run out of town like the snake-oil salesman he is.
The people at CNN (and most socialists, communists, and progressives) are infatuated with Islam simply because they have a common interest with Islam....their common interest being hatred of Christians and the Judeao-Christian culture.
"I think that "yusuf" bonehead jerkwater will like it too"
That's his whole name? Quite fitting!
"I doubt he ever even intended to burn a single Koran."
Oh I disagree. Pastor Jones fully intended to burn Korans - he just didn't know that he would create an international furor, with Muslims sending him death threats, the FBI threatening him, the WH threatening him, and ordinary American ignorant-about-Islam folks belittling him and demeaning him.
He bit off more than he could chew. He's just a simple country preacher.
I heard that the FBI refused to provide him with protection. Anyway, he reversed himself quickly once the FBI, Gen Betray-us, and Hussein our Muslim-loving president got into the act.
I still admire him. He's got backbone, whereas our educated elite like Clinton, Holder, Axelrod are butt-kissers' to the Barbarians', a disgusting sight.
He's not preaching Islam here, but a liberal "unity of faiths" message. Apparently he has one message for Muslims, and another for demmni's. Lying to conquer the enemy is most useful against us, because we are physically strong, but morally weak. By we I allude to the majority of Americans who watch CNN and believe them.
Two basic but major errors of fact here: "faith in the basic goodness of humanity... This faith and this trust are taught by all the Abrahamic traditions. They define the Abrahamic ethic, which lies at the core of our American Declaration of Independence,..."
1. Judaism and Christianity do NOT believe in Man's basic goodness - just the opposite, Man's depravity and sinfulness are what are taught. See Jeremiah 17:9 as well as Psalm 14:1-3 and Psalm 53:1-3 - where does he offer the Quran's proof text of this proposed definition of "faith in the basic goodness"? He is a liar.
2. The Abrahamic ethic was NOT the core for the Declaration of Independence: just where does declaring freedom from taxation without representation and repression from a monarchy derive from the Abrahamic ethic? One of the rallying cries of the revolution was "No King but Jesus"... sounds very Islamic and Jewish to me. ;)
Is Mr. Rauf an emissary of the tyrant Muslim leaders who today dominate many nations and their populations? Or is he a representative of the United States, and a generic proponent of the American brand of individual freedom? To reconcile these mutually exclusive positions let's apply some law and reason. If Mr. Rauf were to seek public office or an office of public trust then the following would apply:
"No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state." US Constitution, Article I, Section 9, Clause 8.
The title of Imam is conferred by someone, by a "king, prince, or foreign state" or by the head of a Islamic theocracy or recognized and approved of by the OIC (money, office or title, "of any kind whatever"). The dominant loyalty for an American must be toward individual liberty and the protection of individual liberty against all threats, with all the gusto and fervor one might typically associate only with "religious" belief.
Mr. Rauf uses the words "us" "we" and "our" a lot, (as per some script) as if HE were our Secretary of State negotiating directly with terrorists. He is definitely playing that role, invoking concern for "our national security." Hillary Clinton needs to smack him down by publicly clarifying that Mr. Rauf represents the position of an adversary, the terrorist and their backers, and that he is thus an adversary.
Here is one psychotic example:
"unbecoming arrogance that leads us to assert that America somehow owns a monopoly on goodness and truth"
The Islamic World's emissary-of-the-moment, Mr. Rauf, projects his own arrogance upon his host.
The great divide between America and Muslims is perhaps best looked at as the Berlin Wall, between freedom and the lack of freedom. The tyrants in the Muslim world have captive populations that long for freedom. Mr. Rauf appears to speak for all Muslim as their exclusive bargaining agent, while simultaneously claiming to represent us against them (against the more vigorous proponents of sharia, but conspicuously not against their tyrant leaders). This is an untenable position. It would be like Mr. Rauf suing Mr. Rauf in court and claiming that the plaintiff and defendant have sufficiently adversarial positions to confer standing upon the court and then to pray for relief against himself. It is preposterous. (He can't be both the proponent and the negotiator of the opposite position, except perhaps in a padded room. He can however make a choice.)
The mental challenge of simultaneously professing belief in two incompatible belief systems, sharia versus individual freedom, must be mental torture. Similar to what the Ft. Hood shooter endured. Similar to what many Turkish legislators and voters endure. (Similar to what President Obama endures.) The extremist Muslim though does not face that torturous mental dichotomy, as they have fully rejected freedom in favor of sharia, so long as they get the spoils of their conquest. Nor does the average American face this mental torure.
Where is Hillary? She could offer to provide security for Mr. Rauf against the Muslim extremists that he fears (as one of "us") if he were to abandon the victory mosque, and were consequently declared an apostate subject to murder by any Muslim on the planet. He is, after all, the man out front to take the full blame for moving or abandoning the mosque.
Maybe he is ready to flip, thinking that he is one of "us", like a Soviet defector, and embrace the light of freedom.
"Rauf Says, “To battle the evil of others by responding in kind and exhibiting equally violent aggressive behavior is to flout the very ethic of our religious traditions,"
What violence? What's he talking about? I didn't observer any such thing. Everybody was orderly, self-controlled.
Does he think that by claiming aggressive behavior, it makes it so, and people will believe it?
We, in the West, are just, finally, talking a stance against islam. It was never been done this way before.
And the islamics don't like it.... cause this way, against them, is taking off like wildfire.
Lets get real! Muslims throughout history have built Mosques, on the most non-Muslim holy site they can find, in conquerred lands. The very name Cordoba comes from a Mosque built atop the rubble of a destroyed Christian cathedral in Spain as a sign of Islamic conquest.
Now would be a great time for everyone to get involved and have one of the biggest Pig Roasts in this countries history and here is why:
http://exposingliberallies.blogspot.com/2009/10/general-pershing-on-terrorism.html
It should be apparent why anyone that has no interest in a thorough, in depth investigation into the bowels of the Islamic movement, its true intentions, organization, methods, etc., could easily be taken in by these snake oil salesmen that constitute the face of the Islamic community in the West so firmly enmeshed in our culture.
Convictions are all too often based on preconceived notions, ideas and perceptions inculcated over time that morph into established, widely accepted dogma, part of a universal comfort zone, the foundation of a bedrock belief system. Eventually countervailing arguments, regardless of their factual foundations, are ignored or dismissed out of hand as the rantings and ravings of a radical, fringe minority; religious, racial bigots in this case.
Listen to this outwardly intelligent, thoughtful, smooth talking liar saying exactly what he knows we need and want to hear to perpetuate this colossal scam! Why is it necessary to waste ones time digging deeper only to prove what is already known as "absolute fact" that fits so neatly into his version of this Ground Zero puzzle? CNN and most of the rest, including FOX News, are firmly ensconced in their comfort zone.
Amateur philosophic speculation I suppose but how else to explain the hypnotic effect that has put so many on the Left and Right in a self imposed state of ignorance and denial. Imam Rauf is one of a small army of pied pipers leading a mesmerized West right off a cliff. Warnings shouted from the streets by a majority of Americans, by all accounts, are ignored.
If Jews and Christians are apes, then why does Islam steal Jewish scripture to validate their ideology?
To Tom Billesley: you took the words out of my keyboard. In my grandfather's day this person would have been tarred, feathered, and ran out of town on a rail. Certainly would have diminished his enthusiasm for any damsel.
Does anyone on this forum work in a hog slaughter house? Or know anyone who does? A few gallons of pig blood dropped on those building from above would halt the proceedings. Make it unfit for Muslim use or habitation.
Great story about Black Jack Pershing. I, too, read about this many years ago. However, there appears to be some dispute about whether Pershing actually did this or if it is only an urban myth.

Even if it is only an urban myth, the story didn't spontaneously spring out of thin air, but rather had to be rooted in perceptions of Muslims gained at the time Pershing was in the Philippines. The fanatics faced by Pershing were of the same stripe as described, roughly at the same time, by Churchill. It is their heirs that we face today.
It would be interesting for an historian to do a formal study of the perceptions gained by Pershing, and those who served under him, about Muslims during the Moro insurrection. This occurred in the immediate pre-WWI era so the Caliphate still resided in Istanbul, although it was by then moribund. One wonders if there might have been any diplomatic protests from the Muslim world concerning Pershing's activities in the Philippines.
Thanks for that audio, sheik yer'mami, it was awesome, I listened to it whole. Hannity was awesome, really he was. And Brigitte of course too.
Jehan tried to point out some perceived unrespectful behavior towards Muslims in America and then Hannity challenged her about the much more disrespectful behavior of Saudi Arabia and she couldn't berate the Saudi's in the same way as the Americans, showing blatant double standards.
The PCMC-people assume that most Muslims in Democratic countries are loyal Democratic people or at least totally neutral, but I suspect by far the most are loyal really to the Ummah and Theocratic, divine laws over Democratic ones when the 2 contradict each other.
I see this in Holland all the time, both Muslim and Infidel people holding Dutch/ Western people to high standards, looking only at Holland, or the Western Democratic world. Ignoring, exonerating far worse attitudes and acts and situations in Islamic countries held by Muslims.
Robert said it was a paternalistic attitude towards the Muslims, treating them like simple minds or children. Or just looking myopically national instead of worldwide.
Keep up the good work!
LMAO - Who does that taqiyya-spewing charlatan think he is?
Feisal Abdul Rauf doesn't think or speak for Americans. Through his words and deeds he has made it abundantly clear that there is nothing American about him.
Its fairly difficult to understand how this guy can continue this charade with a straight face. From veiled threats of potential terrorist acts against America if he doesn't get to build his middle finger to the west, or the notion that the rest of the world should accept the moral relativism of Islam no matter what acts are committed is beyond absurd.
This religion of peace and tolerance has driven Christianity pretty much out of the Middle East. Oppressed the non-Muslim of Israel, India, Southern Thailand, Russia,Ethiopia, Somalia and the Lost Boys of the Sudan. Not to mention all the attacks that are thwarted each year in the US that go unreported. The exclamation point on all of this is of course 911.
It is ironic that the left and the apologists for Islam want non-Muslims to be tolerant of malfeasance as it pertains to Islam but will blame the great, great, great, great grandchildren for failures in US social evolution.
If Islam wants to build a "bridge" with the west then how about openly rejecting the calls for death and slavery to Christians, Jews and all other non-Muslim religions? How about removing the passages from the Koran that call for these deaths?
For this Iman to ignore all of the above and try to lecture America on morality when his religion is openly calling to stone a woman to death while he is having this dialogue is an insult to intelligence of every American and moral person on the planet.
HenryCrux says: "You can't criticize a Muslim or his Bible or they will murder a Christian somewhere or yourself, or a member of your family or religion - so we should never do that, it is irresponsible and evil! Therefore, I will use the immense power of my office, the most powerful in the world, to embarrass you and publicly disgrace you, so that you will never be able to make big bucks again in this country - if you should exercise your so called "right to free expression" or, so called, "free-speech", to criticize in any way, the Muslim Bible called the Koran - or any Muslim who is putting forth the idea that Islam is not one of the most peaceful and loving and generous religions on Earth! And I MEAN IT! But, you are free to go ahead and do it - go ahead and see what happens! (here Obama is using his Muslim trained tactic of Threatening Christians, Jews, and Pagans, with extreme punishment if they should rise to tell the truth about The Religion and Science of Revenge!
actually, there is a serious typo up there - here is how it should go. "A stern warning from President Obama against Pastor Terry Jones or anyone else who would dare to use his "free speech right" too freely !:
"You can't criticize a Muslim or his Bible or they will murder a Christian somewhere or yourself, or a member of your family or religion - so we should never do that, it is irresponsible and evil! Outstanding! Brigitte Gabriel was awesome the way she shredded her opponent's pathetic attempts at Muslim apologetics.
