In other news, area linguists rioted and burned tires over rumors that "gullible" is not in the dictionary, and had been taken out by Zionists. "Afghan protester shot at military base," from CNN, September 16:
An international forces service member shot a protester who aimed his AK-47 toward a guard tower at a NATO military base in southern Afghanistan, military officials said Thursday.
The man was pulled away by fellow demonstrators before members of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were able to determine his condition.
The protest of about 100 Afghans at Forward Operating Base Mirwais was reported to have been held in response to an alleged Quran burning inside the base Wednesday. But ISAF said the suspected burning was a routine burn-pit session in which military documents are destroyed.
The protest turned violent when the Afghans began throwing rocks at the base guards. ISAF said the armed protester was shot in accordance with the rules of engagement.
If we burn a Koran, then there are protests. If we don't, we are weak, and there are converts...either way, we lose! So, we might as well have some spine.

We have a large brick incinerator in the backyard of our home, which was built in 1926—when many people burned a lot of their trash. It's actually quite lovely. I've never used it. If I did, would it be assumed I was burning Qur'ans, instead of junk mail and my old phone bills?

Riot...No reason required, an excuse will do...
Indeed. I got a nice little firepit out back, myself.
All it needs is some fuel ....
I have a motto that I use with great success:
"Never bring a rock to a gunfight."
Wasn't there some Mohammedan outfit offering to send out free copies of the koran recently?
I'd apply for one if I could find who they were - the winter is coming on and any extra fuel would be useful...
Again we see the self pity and victimization in action: the Muslims are always willing to believe anything is directed against them. Always. Right from the very early days when Muhammad needed an excuse to pull his community together by pulling them out of Mecca: persecution and the evil eye. And then the raids and the killings bonding them together.
Always-always-always they are victims of this and that, and completely unable to see that a bit of looking askance at them is not nearly the same as the organized and legitimate harassment of other religions in Muslim nations. But they know very well that by complaining very loudly and vehemently there's a fair chance of diverting the Infidel's eye from conditions under Muslim rule.
I heat with wood. Burning the Quran for heat is unsafe as it will only create creosote and increase the risk of a chimney fire. But if you're going camping, well I'm sure it can serve more than just one purpose in the bush.
All this victimization reminds me of the lefties in the good ole USA.
No wonder they are such bed-buddies.
@Kaffir_Kanuck:
I don't know about creosote but the Florida police were prepared to charge Pastor Jones with disposing of hazardous material.
The ink contains toxins, you see...
I've always said that burning stuff is so cliche, so old hat, so totally already been done. No, buring Qu'rans is NOT the answer. For instance when an American Flag becomes too damaged to be used further, a ceremony is performed where the flag in honorably and ritually burned in a respectful way, so that all witnesses understand American patriotism is being shown.
The last thing I'd want patriotic Amaricans to do is burn a Qu'ran; they might think we were trying to be respectful. Instead, the Qu'ran should be desecrated in unmistakable fashion. There should be no doubt that contempt it our only answer to the despised so-called religion of Islam.
Make it a BIG event! A pork Bar-B-Que cooking contest would be just the thing. Have plenty of Porta-Potties on hand for contestants, guests, judges, and attendees. Now instead of toilet paper in these portable bathrooms, they should have only a copy of the Qu'ran. The advertisements for this event should play-up the fact that Qu'rans will be desecrated with the feces from port-eating Americans, who don't give a shit about what these terrorists think.
Afghanistan: another western sucess story.
Hey muslims everyone is burning korans now. I know they don't trust and listen to infidel sources. To them the only truth comes from the islamic braying mullahas or their fellow IQ hampered fellow muslims. Don't worry even this won't stop the west from rushing you more jiyza more and aid.
JW readers might find this article interesting in light of the full-blown insanity that so completely rules the Islamic world,
Book essay: The Closing of the Muslim Mind, by Robert R. Reilly,
http://europenews.dk/en/node/35549
There was a time when Islam embraced Reason and Logic, respected dialogue and challenged Christianity in open debate, a time when Islamic philosophers and leaders did not act from fear of intellectual inferiority. That time was primarily from AD 813 through AD 833, under the rule of Caliph al-Mu'man, and to a lesser extent under the reign of the next two Caliphs, altogether 34 years until AD 847. For the intellectual, this period in Islamic history can indeed be considered 'Golden'.
Robert R. Reilly, in his book "The Closing of the Muslim Mind", sets out on an intellectual journey to identify this period, its influence on mainstream Islamic thought (Sunni Islam, to be exact. Shia Islam is different), how this intellectual freedom declined step by step. And in particular how it was ultimately killed off entirely by the Sufi imam Al-Ghazali, crushing the resistance of Ibn Rushd (Averroes), who was eventually declared a heretic, his books burned in public and he himself exiled.

Fscarn, Islam has always, in its very doctrines—the belief that there are no natural laws, because Allah "is not bound", and hence acts completely capriciously; the hatred of the rational mind, the deep suspicion of Bi'da (innovation)—and by the fell example of the "Prophet" Muhammed, been profoundly anti-intellectual.
In places recently conquered by Muslim forces, there were often initially too many Infidels—Jews, Christians, Zoroastrians, Hindus, Buddhists—for them to tamp down intellectual life entirely.
Eventually, though—through forced conversions, through the strictures and humiliations of dhimmitude, through the steady drip of converts who embraced Islam to escape dhimmitude, through periodic bouts of outright murder, through those who fled if they could—the number of Infidels enjoying the life of the mind diminished.
Of course, there have always been some Muslim rulers who, through personal interests or general laxity, allowed intellectual flowerings of one sort or another—flowerings which seldom outlived an individual Caliph or local Emir.
It is no surprise to find that the most profoundly anti-intellectual societies are the most piously Muslim—Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, Sudan—where so much of the population is illiterate—just like the "Prophet" himself, and where a violent Jihad organization can be spawned that actually calls itself "Boko Haram" (Education is Forbidden).
"...a protester who aimed his AK-47 toward a guard tower..."
When he aimed his AK-47 (don't all protesters carry AK-47's?) at the guard tower, I think he moved from being a "protester" to being something else. Like an armed combatant. Or dead meat; whatever. Nice shot.
Oh! surprise there mad again, and they want to kill somebody over something stupied. Big surprise.
I think we need a Burn A Qu'ran day here in the USA.
From the Latin Taedium meaning disgust.
I am not Islaophobic.
I am Islamotaedic.
Pamela, Robert, David, Geert, and others, are great spokesmen for the effort to wake up Americans to the dangers of Islam, and they have pointed out that we, the people, having the right to free speech, also have the right to draw cartoons of anything we want to, including the warrior Muhammad, as well as the right to burn anything we want to, including the right to burn Mein Kampf or my Koran.
But, if they want to have an even bigger impact, in addition to talking/writing about how Islam affects free speech, THEY ALSO NEED TO PROMOTE THE EXERCISE OF FREE SPEECH, ie: they need to promote DOING things that reinforce the whole concept of free speech. For example, they need to promote draw Muhammad days and they need to promote Koran burnings. A "National Free Speech Day" may be an option. Whatever/however/whenever it's done, it's sure to garner Muslim outrage. But that's a good thing because it's Muslim outrage that gets MSM coverage.
A message needs to be sent, a strong message, a message that Americans aren't going to sit by while free speech is trampled by Muslims, a message that will get the MSM's attention BECAUSE it will upset Muslims, something the MSM tries its best not to do and quickly condemns anyone who does.
The message needs to be sent. The message MUST be sent.
Aardvark,
I think I got mine from CAIR. It's a whopper of a book offering useless text in Arabic, along with sanitized text in English.
Other organizations offer them, as well. Just enter "free Qu'ran" into your browser.
Sad but true. Many of these guys will do anything to rage against the west. The truth just gets in the way of a good rant and rave. There is just not enough substance between their ears to call it a brain. If it even resembles a brain, it has been on the rinse cycle for a long long time.
Evolution has not caught up with these barbarians.
These accounts are written as if the murderous, violent "protests" are legitimate and understandable and warranted. It is the same kind of propaganda that happens when jihadists use human shields. The responsibility for the deaths of the human shields is not placed on the jihadists, who are truly responsible, but on those they are fighting against.
