Note the usual excuse: 'remarks taken out of context.' But yes, I agree totally with Mr. Spencer, a big public inquiry would shed a great deal of light on the evils of islam that even they wouldn't be able to hide - bring it on !

Every month, week and day the evidence mounts that there is NO SUCH THING as a moderate muslum!

The insidious propaganda in this story that appeared in The Vancouverite begins with the title:

"Muslims riled by MacKay's gag order on moderate B.C. Imam."

So we are told, right away, that the government has produced a "gag order." There was no "gag order." The government cancelled the appearance of an Imam, about whom there are many reasons to worry (see the commentary above). He has not been silenced, not prevented from speaking out elsewhere, or at his own mosque, or other mosques.

And then, the title tells us, bullies us into thinking, that this is all about a "moderate B.C. Imam." How do we know he is a "moderate"? Should that epithet not be withheld, until we can find out, among other things, what he has said or not said about various terrorist groups, what he has said or not said about the duty and goals of Jihad, what he has said or not said about Sharia, and its desirability in Canada or elsewhere in the West? What makes the editors of The Vancouverite so sure that this man is a "moderate"? Is this simply to be taken on faith by readers?

And then just look at the first two paragraphs of the story:

"VANCOUVER - Canadian Muslims are riled by a decision by Canada's defence minister to yank a speech by a B.C. Imam that was scheduled for Monday.

Zijad Delic was to address Islamic Heritage Month celebrations in Ottawa on Monday. The Imam is an academic and a moderate and is known for his resentment of radicalism."

And only then, once the newspaper itself has instructed its readers that Zijad Delic is "an academic and a moderate and is known for his resentment of radicalism" do we come to the story proper.

Readers are told, not allowed to discover for themselves, whether or not Zijad Delic is "a moderate." Nor are they allowed to think even about what that word "moderate" might or should mean, if it is to be -- as it is intended to be -- of any real comfort.

This constant bullying of readers, of making up their minds for them, is most obvious in the Homeric use of the epithet "right-wing" or "far right-wing" which is simply affixed by many newspapers, or other forms of media, to any mention of anyone, no matter how conceivably centrist or left-wing such people may be -- who, as part of what he believes, is alarmed by and wishes to halt, and reverse, the islamization of his own, or of other, countries not yet in thrall to the power of those who take Islam to heart.

But there are other ways, as this example illustrates. Just insist that someone is a "moderate" and put in right at the beginning of the story, so that few will question it.

It's akin, of course, to the tendentious phrases used in covering the Arab war on Israel, where land that was clearly assigned to the Jewish National Home by the League of Nations becomes, in the retelling, "occupied" Arab land. And few notice the violence done to history and the truth, and fewer still take the time to understand the history of the area, the legal, moral and historic claims of the Jews that were not extinguished by the seizure of parts of Judea and Samaria by the Jordanian army in 1949, and then renamed, preposterously, the "West Bank" -- and even more preposterous is the way that Western reporters now take "the West Bank" as the natural, the right, name for the area, and dismiss the toponyms "Judea" and "Samaria" as "the biblical names" -- an example of this is in today's New York Times, in a story by Ethan Bronner.

The dice are loaded. Everything is loaded.

It is up to readers to be wary, to read about anything to do with Islam and its adherents very carefully, with great vigilance, as Cleanth Brooks, and Theodore Baird, and Reuben Brower, used to teach students to read, until a new world came along where vigilant reading became less important, and what counted was the racial, sexual, religious, ethnic background of the writer, while the words went off by themselves.

Now the Art of Close Reading is not only the proper focus of literary training, as it always was, and important as that is, but has become the chief means of self-defense, and aide-de-camp of common sense, in the Western world, among those who see that something is terribly wrong with Islam and its adherents -- they look around the world, they take in the day's news, they refuse to deny the evidence of their senses -- and refuse to be passive victims of the reportorial and editorial bullying that a different group of people, who remain wilfully ignorant of Islam and are the true Podsnaps of the Age, people "don't want to hear about it [the texts, tenets, attitudes, atmospherics of Islam]...for it offends them," and they are scared of what they might find out, which might require them to think at a level of seriousness and detail of which they are not capable.

"Canadian Muslims" is a misnomer. They may be Muslims. They may physically be located in Canada, but they are not "Canadian". By their own definition, they are Muslims. They are mandated by the immutable ravings of a psychotic murderer, rapist, pedophile, robber NOT to become part of any other nation than the umma. In fact, they are obligated to destroy Canada to expand the caliphate.

there is a revealing connection to this news item. Peter MacKay has evidently lashed back at Delic in retaliation for CIC's succesful court challenge to the Conservative government's banning of the notorious scumbag George Galloway to enter Canada.

Galloway is to speak in Toronto next week. So, I would not see in this any kind of 'victory'. Hats off to Peter though for a gutsy response to CIC's legal jihad.

There is no such thing as a MODERATE muslim. They are all islamists at heart. They may not be physically engaged but they are most definitely ALL intellectually engaged in the jihad and cheering from the sidelines for death to the infidel.

The above phrase can in no way be applied to Islam, no matter how much certain people try to make it so.

Uh oh, this sounds a warning bell, when they present this imam as "active in Multiculturalism and inter-faith initiatives". I see taqiyya written all over it. Who cares about his "warm and generous personality"? It's his message that matters, not his 'smiles and wiles'.

Imam Delic was a signatory in a recent Fatwa originating from Canada prohibiting Terrorism as an affront to Islam.

Fast Jihad is no longer working, so better switch gears to 'slow jihad' (smiling graciously). The infidels are wising up, which itself is an "affront to Islam". Imam Delic's 'bridge building' of tolerance between Western and Islamic cultures, built upon clever "Yes No" taqiyya footings is no more than a tactical move to unbalance the infidels as to Islam's true goals, to make the whole world "Sharia international".(TM) How is that our "shared values"? 'Warm personality' is merely an Islamic tool to undermine Western freedom (taking his 'smiles and wiles' out-of-context), just facade. Glad they turned him away.

Maybe Canada is waking up? I can smell the tide turn... hmm... smells good.

Congrats to Peter MacKay. He did the right thing by disinviting of Imam Delic. Imam Delic is communal, islamic supramist who should have been allowed in Canada in very first place. Before he churns out more terrorists he should be asked to leave Canada.

I'm Canadian and embarrassed that we have an Islamic Heritage Month. For 2% or less of our population! Golly, they must be very special people. My part of town is nicknamed "Little Lebanon". It's more than 2% around here. If there's a cash register and/or lottery terminal involved; there they are. What a special contribution to our country by a special people. /sarc off.
