The incident was flagged by a current Defense Department employee who came forward and told investigators she helped arrange the meeting after she saw Awlaki speak in Alexandria, Va.

Funny, but I don't recall reading anywhere about the War Department "reaching out" to the Empire of Japan Community or the German Nazi or Italian Fascist Communities in the wake of Pearl Harbor.

99.9% of Americans have not yet had to confront Islam on a daily street-level basis as people are doing in many parts of Europe. Therefore it is not yet "real" to them. And because they refuse to see anything beyond the end of their own noses, it won't become "real" to them until it is physically in their faces, at which point they will have a very short timeline with which to play catch-up.

As the old saying goes, "There's never time to do it right, but always time to do it ugly."

Al-Awlaki deserves a bit of grudging respect; at least for his skills as a confidence man.

Indeed, Sun Zi would have been proud of this guy. He saw the weak point--the PeeCeeEmCee elite's unwillingness to see any demographic as especially dangerous--and played the "good cop" role to a tee with them. This doubtlessly got him at least some information about names and possible strategies.

Perhaps it also led Awlaki to decide that the US Government was too self-blinded and stupid to be much of a threat, and therefore to encourage more Muslim terror against an enemy who is probably seemed about as dangerous as a tethered ox.

I hate to say it, but I wonder what would have happened if every American official Awlkai met after 9/11 had worn a suspicious, hostile scowl while most imams in America needed 24-7 lest they be lynched by howling, Pakistan-style mobs in the streets; while large numbers of Egyptian, Saudi, Pakistani, and other Muslim nationals were rounded up for internment and/or deportation? I strongly suspect that much of the Muslim world would probably be treating Americans and American interests with kid gloves.

As it is, the weak posture allowed the Dar-ul-Islam to show its supremacist and violent colors. Hence, this is forcing much of the West to wake up.

Curious comment from the women who invited him that Alwaki was "harassed" by some of the Pentagon audience. That must have been what pushed him from 'moderate' into the camp of 'the crazies' [see above story].

Slowly, but surely, the overreach by islan has had the opposite of the intended effect - the West generally may have gotten very soft over the last few decades, but thankfully there are those who put it all on the line to protect our nation.

In a perverse way, we need to be thankful for the too-soon overreach.

Strangely, obama has exhibited a similar manner of overreach and fails to comprehend the reaction. Hey, were almost halfway done; hopefully the damage will be harder now as people begin to wake, slowly.

It is always quite interesting to have discussions with the uninitiated, but with careful respect and direct citations of evidence, some are beginning to be able to understand. Thoughtful, measured, reasonable, calm, logical and documented - show the utmost respect and let the evidence be the story. Its possible, although not easy, and some are simply wrapped in a protective alternative reality, as noted.

When I run into a wall I just provide multiple examples and links, and ask the person to do their own research, and not to be manipulated. I don't try to tell them what they have to believe, rather, I'm just sharing what I have found and telling them it is a good thing to learn for yourself. For some, its a protective mechanism - they just can't allow themselves to see evil and hope that being nice will make evil behave, but even when frustrated I always strive to keep comments professional and show that I have taken the time to really investigate - they are usually left wondering... if such a thoughtful, considerate and educated person has such concern, maybe there is something to it.

Then, the next time they encounter someone or read an article, a little memory will pop up and make them wonder, and examine from a slightly different perspective. This is a long struggle; don't expect everyone to get it soon or easily and alienating them through aggression or derision won't have the intended result. Instead I leave them with" I don't want to convince you or have you believe what I say, but I do I want you to consider if you are being manipulated and ask that you learn for yourself [or learn with me if it is someone I know].

Babies need to be spoon-fed with small bites and soft food. Rocks are not a good appetizer. Be sensitive that for some people it is emotionally impossible for them to deal with the reality of the horror. Yet, I think we all have an obligation to speak up and help them to see what is within their capacity.

We never fired a single intelligence operative over 9/11, that's why the FBI didn't give a shit and give the Pentagon pin heads the info.

Heck, what should have happened is that a half a dozen FBI idiots should have been fired on the spot for this. Including the guy who is supposed be the liason between FBI and the military.

But the Pentagon is also at fault, they have a massive intelligence machine and investigative agencies, the fact they didn't even do a basic background check on Al-Whacky or ignored what they found is also criminal.

To be honest, you can't blame the Pentagon. Days before 9 11 and the US armed forces were busy helping Mujahideen slaughter unarmed Macedonian peasant farmers. Of those Macedonian farmers who were later freed, many had been horrifically tortured and days later, many committed suicide. Many others simply vanished.
