A moderate caning
Wednesday night I participated in what turned out to be a jihad whitewashing circus hosted by Christiane Amanpour on ABC. It was part of the "This Week" show and will run at 11AM Eastern on Sunday morning, but I will not be watching, as Amanpour was energetically carrying water for the Islamic supremacists and dissemblers throughout the whole program. One egregious example came toward the end of the taping, when during the question-and-answer session Daisy Khan of the Ground Zero mega-mosque initiative said flatly, "It's not a mosque." A 9/11 family member and a member of lower Manhattan's Community Board 1 then asked to speak, saying repeatedly that Khan was lying, since she had said that it was a mosque during a Community Board hearing. I added, "I was there, too, and I heard her say it was a mosque." But Amanpour would not allow them a microphone, and actually cut off taping at that point.
That was the worst of it, but more lowlights came mostly from the sleazy Islamic apologist Reza Aslan, who retailed smear after smear of me -- but when I tried to reply, Amanpour actually shushed me with her finger to her lips. (I kept talking anyway, but fully expect that that part and others in which I was able to get a word in will end up on the cutting-room floor.)
More on all that presently; in the meantime, this story put me in mind of that show as well, since one panelist -- I believe it may have been Daisy Khan herself -- invoked Indonesia as a bastion of Islamic moderation, a place where people could see an Islam that was vital, vibrant, and vastly different from the twisted, hijacked version of Osama bin Laden. You know the drill.
And so do Murni Amris and Rukiah Abdullah.
"Indonesian women caned for selling food during Muslim festival of Ramadan," from the Telegraph, October 1 (thanks to Doctor Bulldog):
The two women were found guilty of selling food during the fasting hours of Ramadan, thereby violating Islamic sharia law.Hundreds of people gathered to watch as Murni Amris, 27, received three lashes and Rukiah Abdullah, 22, received two at a mosque in the city of Jantho, southeast of the provincial capital, Banda Aceh, Indonesia.
"The two women were found selling rice in a stall at noon during Ramadan. The sharia forbids selling food during fasting hours at Ramadan," said Marzuki Abdullah, Aceh's sharia police head.Ms Amris owned the food stall where Ms Abdullah was selling the rice....
Can you imagine the outrage in the western media if anyone was punished in a Christian country for selling food during Lent?

Christiane Amanpour is not, and has never been, an impartial journalist despite her self image to the contrary. She is well known for being a water carrier for the all-culturals-and-religions-are-equal (but some do have better cuisines than others) multicultural crowd. It is not surprising at all that she would come down on the side of allowing the mosque to be built. Her treatment of you is shameful, Robert. Shameful! Of course, since she has control over the final editing process, and as it is well known that a good video editor is capable of transforming Mother Theresa into Witch Hazel, you can expect to be portrayed in the worst possible light in the final cut.
Thank you for putting this account up exposing Amanpour for the biased "reporter" she is. I force myself to sit through her occasional video pieces just to see the many and varied ways she distorts reality according to her lollipop and candy cane view of the world. It usually takes a while to calm down afterward.
I hope there is an enterprising researcher out there looking into Amanpour's finances, especially for indications of financial gain in return for favorable portrayal of certain parties.
Christiane, your credibility is waning.
And ABC News wonders why it is losing viewers.............I used to be a faithful viewer of "This
Week with David Brinkley" back when Mr. Brinkley was hosting the program. Christiane Amanpour is a dhimmi and a waste of time.
"A special ABC “This Week” town hall meeting is taking place in New York City, where Christiane Amanpour will moderate a live debate “Holy War: Should Americans Fear Islam?” ABC is not revealing the exact location of the town hall due to security reasons."
This programme could have been over in less than a minute.
'Should Americans fear Islam?'
Yes.
The question is also answered in the title:-
"ABC is not revealing the exact location of the town hall due to security reasons."
Study Finds Rising Intolerance Among Indonesian Muslims
September 30, 2010
http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/home/study-finds-rising-intolerance-among-indonesian-muslims/398875
"Of 1,200 adult Muslim men and women surveyed nationwide, 57.8 percent said they were against the construction of churches and other non-Muslim places of worship, the highest rate the study centre has recorded since 2001."
It's not a mosque, it's not near Ground Zero, and this isn't caning. Stay calm, this isn't happening.
The name "Imam Ustadh Abu Abdulla-Faheem" tells you all you need to know about this bozo's POV even before watching the clip. Apparently these guys haven't yet realized that having a title and name like this isn't much different from "Reichminister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels."
At least he has you wearing your trademark necktie, Robert. But Mark Gabriel? Apparently he missed the class in his madrassa where the importance of fact checking names was covered.
I'm wondering: Why invite folks like Mr. Spencer and then not allow them to speak?
It has the smell of "CYA-Journalism," exploiting one's presence to falsely claim impartiality while marginalizing (or worse) him in real-time. Perhaps the loyal opposition (Robert, Pamela, others) will have to pre-declare their expectation for fair time and treatment or decline appearances where these are not--by documented pre-agreement--forthcoming?
Mother Therasa? Many people thought she was a wicked woman telling the africans they should breed for the Pope and not use contraception. Was she not a Yemeni?
"ABC is not revealing the exact location of the town hall due to security reasons."
-----------------
Because revealing the location of the Town Hall might mean that people who are opposed to the Mosque (70%+) might show up and make some noise. They don't want that to happen. What they do want to happen is to skew it in the best possible light and make sure that 70% number goes down to a more favorable number like 50% or less.
Beaten for selling food. (What would the faith police have done if the food sellers had been approached by a bunch of homeless people and just gave them something to help them?) Again, showing a lack of mercy and forgiveness. If their system really had any merit to it, they wouldn't have to beat people to get them to stay in it. I can only hope that one day, it will crumble as did the Soviet Union.
I wonder how many people in these strictly controlled societies wish they could be something else, but they're afraid, because of things like this. Here's hoping that one day, they'll get their chance.
BTW, since GT has some relatives in Aceh, he better read this article about the caning.
As far as I know, Mother Teresa was of Albanian ancestry. She worked in India most of her life.
Christine has been seen touring with the moral equivalency bandwagon, so we know EXACTLY where she is coming from. Most notably the series she hosted: God's Warriors. This series was nothing more than a blatant case of moral equivalency between Judaism, Christianity and islam. I don't watch her weekly program any longer because she makes me sick to my stomach, especially after that series aired.
Lets just give the woman a dhimmi award and be done with her ...
"Was she not a Yemeni?"
Mother Teresa was born at Skopje, Albania.
The name "Imam Ustadh Abu Abdulla-Faheem" tells you all you need to know about this bozo's POV even before watching the clip. Apparently these guys haven't yet realized that having a title and name like this isn't much different from "Reichminister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels" and raises the hair on the back of civilized people everywhere. (I know, I know, strike terror into their hearts and all that...)
At least he has you wearing a natty necktie, Robert. But the name Mark Gabriel (on the left)? Apparently Imam Abdulla-Faheem missed the class in his madrassa where the importance of fact checking names was covered.
Also, ABC will be aring a special with Diane Sawyer tonight at 10/9c (10/01/10) . What do you wanna bet this show goes pretty much like "This Week"? ABC is hell bent to shove Islam down our throats it seems.
Islam, Questions and Answers
More than 1.5 billion people are unified by the call to prayer, which sounds five times a day to summon Muslims around to world, from remote Somali villages to mosques in Dearborn, Mich.
But in the United States, where less than 1 percent of the population practices Islam, many misconceptions persist. There's also a deeply-rooted suspicion of the religion.
Since the debate over a proposed Islamic community center near Ground Zero and Pastor Terry Jones' controversial plan to hold an "International Burn a Koran Day" on the anniversary of 9/11, the conversation on Islam in America has become heated. Many are worried that anti-Muslim feelings have reached a new high.

These women sold food and got whipped for it, what happend to the people they sold the food to?
Supply and demand, if there is no demand there will be no supply. Appearently there are people wanting to eat during fasting hours.
Cristiane , father Mohammad, an Iranian airlines official, mother a British citizen.
What an egregiously fatuous religion! Even if one does sell food during Ramadan there is no guarantee that it will be eaten during these hours.
Utter morons!
I think it does explain why so many Muslims migrate to Scandinavian countries where Ramadan days are a lot shorter. Or maybe it is just a desire to get out of Dar al-Islam as quick as possible.
i'll post here a comment i made on 'atlas shrugs' about nbc's touring hizbollah theme park which is equally sickening as abc's amanpour....
"captain nemo said...
i have said it many times in the past, and i'll say it again: my contempt for the msm far exceeds my contempt and disgust with islam and its teachings and followers.
i expect a muslime to blow himself up, i expect him to stone, behead, maim etc. etc. etc.
BUT,
to see a goddamn idiot masquerading as a journalist, a complete total POS that is listening and furiously taking notes (like the morons interviewing achmad nut job), the FURY that i have towards these lowlives that think they are enlightened (and especially, if they are jewish, to me as a jew, it is a very very low blow). these bastards represent all that is evil.
but good will triumph (we will have to fight though!)
Was she made to "kiss" the cane...in the manner of the 15th century? Good Lord.. what a culture of beasts.

I have a little fantasy. The subservient woman in the picture waits until the very last moment, when the cane is about to hit her back, rolls over and hooks the Middle-Aged-Mutant-Ninja-Turtle on the leg, slamming him face first into the ground. She then gives him a karate chop to the neck, effectively disabling him, and pulls out her mini-uzi from the make up compartment of her purse. All the Muslim males wet their pants and start running away and the angry Muslimas who think she deserves to be caned are corralled into the local mosque where the doors are shut and locked. The chick who was about to be caned whips off her white getup to reveal her favorite jeans, an attractive top, her hoop earrings, bracelets, sandals and her hair up in a high ponytail, wispy pieces framing her attractive face. She then strolls to the nearest outdoor cafe where she orders a beer and some fabulous spinach dip and relaxes while having a foot massage, texting her friends and getting her toes done, complimentary, in exchange for not shooting the guy doing her toes in the head.
Oh, did I forget to mention that the guy doing her toes is Islamic Empire?
The End
Indeed I do B. This doesn't surprise me from Aceh, as it is by far the most conservative part of Indonesia. My wife tells me that things haven't always been like this, that most of this happened following the tsunami's destruction. Prior to the 2004 tsunami, Aceh had a separatist movement for its Acehnese majority called the Free Aceh Movement. Indonesia is home to probably hundreds of distinct ethnic groups and some of them, like the Acehnese, want an independent homeland. There was a civil war and the government punished the Acehnese for it, they also kept the introduction of the shari'a in check. Following the tsunami, which hit Aceh harder than any other place in the world, the Free Aceh Movement and the government came under a cease fire.
Part of that cease fire deal was that Aceh became an autonomous province that could implement the shari'a.
Now, I know a fairly large number of Acehnese both studying here in America and also in Indonesia. Most of these Acehnese are very intelligent people working on masters and doctoral programs in American colleges as part of Fulbright or oil industry scholarships. Most of them are fairly liberal in their viewpoints about men and women hanging out together and are OK with mild public displays of affection. Some of the men don't pray regularly but there's also very troubling attitudes among some of them like, "the Jews did 9/11". Now, people from areas such as Jakarta really are fairly westernized. A lot of women walk around uncovered and it's considered to be no big deal. Most women on TV there are uncovered, romantic kisses can be displayed and so on. Judging all of Indonesia by what happens in Aceh is a bit off base but there's nothing that says that the rest of the country will not go that route.
It's too bad too. The Acehnese are very Indic in much of their dress, food and cultural traits. A lot of that could be in danger if a more "pure" Islamic society is carried out there.
A picture is worth a thousand words! your gullible readers will not be satisfied with you if you fail to provide them with evidence in the quran and sunnah that mention Caning for selling food during Ramadan!
your ignorance, bigotry, moral imbecility and anti-islam paranoia its not gonna help you out insha'allah .
"The two most common elements in the universe are
hydrogen and stupidity."

So Hakeem, are you sayin' you disagree with this woman being caned for selling food during Ramadan?
'A picture is worth a thousand words! your gullible readers will not be satisfied with you if you fail to provide them with evidence in the quran and sunnah that mention Caning for selling food during Ramadan!"
There is nothing in our law to suggest that caning is in order for a food vendor selling food during Ramadan, this is true. However, this did actually happen and you can read about it in bahasa Indonesia if you can read bahasa Indonesia...

http://addyjagat.wordpress.com/2010/10/02/dua-wanita-dirotan-di-aceh/
Here, I'll translate the statement from the shari'a police for you...
Dua wanita itu ditemui menjual nasi di sebuah gerai pada waktu tengahari semasa Ramadan. Undang-undang syariah melarang makanan dijual semasa bulan puasa dalam Ramadan.
Two women were found to be selling rice at a booth illegally during Ramadan, Shari'a prohibits the selling of food during the fasting month of Ramadan."
This is a big problem, ok? It's not as if they're fabricating this particular case or its details, you can find out about all of this from Indonesian press. Also, you can find a number of Indonesian sources critical of this action... and they should be! We should be critical of this 1.) Because it's moonbat logic and doesn't even follow the shari'a and 2.) it's implementation of the shari'a!
"1.) Because it's moonbat logic and doesn't even follow the shari'a and 2.) it's implementation of the shari'a!"
Huh?
Robert,
Did you ask Christiane Amanpour if she has read the 117 page report on the Threat of Shariah Law in America produced by the Center for Security Policy?
1. She probably ignored it
2. Or her staff has refused to allow her to read it.
3. Perhaps she's just out of touch with reality.
4. Or all of the above.
I'm thinking #4.
Isabella, I'm a Muslim. I'm not really a big fan of the introduction of the shari'a, even in Islamic countries.
Well then you and I are in agreement Gerbil Tea. But I thought Sharia is the law that maintains Islam and is an integral part of it. If it is are you saying you are for reform?
GT said "Most of them are fairly liberal in their viewpoints about men and women hanging out together and are OK with mild public displays of affection."
---------------
I'm not even a conservative but I feel displays of affection should be kept to a minimum and mostly done in private. It also depends on what exactly you are doing. The reason being I have many gay friends who don't feel comfortable or able to do their thing in public. If they can't do that, why should we be able? Besides its depressing for one who doesn't have a special person in their life to see that in front of them. I'm not saying people can't show affection, just that people should be respectful about it. There is a time and a place for it.
" Two of the worlds most common elements are hydrogen and stupidity - Harlan Ellison ".
Yes, and you continue to prove that.
Isabella, I enjoyed your fantasy very much, I'd love to see it come true, soon..
Thanks WPF. It is for your reading pleasure!
And I'm telling you, once we get these Muslim girls converted to wearing capris and getting their toes done while having a glass of chilled alcohol they will never go back to having their clitorises cut out or faces beat in. They simply don't know what they are missing.
Amanpour is a propagandistic hack, not an impartial journalist.
Following your link at the top , I read this ....
" A special ABC “This Week” town hall meeting is taking place in New York City, where Christiane Amanpour will moderate a live debate “Holy War: Should Americans Fear Islam?” ABC is not revealing the exact location of the town hall due to security reasons."
They're asking if islam is dangerous then answer the question in the next sentence by saying it's too dangerous to reveal the venue where this will be discussed .
may be or both of us!
"ignorance, bigotry, moral imbecility"
Wow, you have a real self-esteem problem for insulting yourself that way.
But, you're exactly right on all counts, and blame your barbaric ideology for all three.
ISLAM IS PURE HATE
Normaly for adulterers!
Allah's word, the Quran, the book of hate:
http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/quran/024.qmt.html#024.002
024.002
YUSUFALI: The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.
Your fantasy is great, and it sounds like a movie with Charlie's Angels. Only a little bit "politically incorrect" for some.
