Austria: Man fined for offending Muslims by yodeling

Yodelling is an old custom of the people living around the Alps. Upper Bavarians, Austrians and Swiss practice it. If you assume that yodelling is associated with "lederhosen" you're right. You may like it or not, in any case yodelling is very melodious, you can't compare it to the muezzin's bawling and blaring. You probably couldn't hear much of this guy's yodelling anyway, as he was cutting the grass and the lawn mower is pretty loud. This was another test, the Mahoundians wanted to find out how far they could go in rejecting indigenous European customs and have it their way, imposing their life-style. And the judge was taken in, he surrendered to dhimmitude. But this is not the end of it. The counter-lawsuit will continue.

I read this and thought it was some kind of Onion joke piece. I bet Yodeling predates Islam so just based on the 'prior art' rules this should have been laughed out of court. IT shows just how much the judiciary in the Western World has been corrupted.

According to the original piece in the online version of the Austrian "Kronen Zeitung" the Muslim prayers were accompanied by a loudspeaker placed outside in their yard, in order that all those that did not find room inside could follow what was going on. Some sort of mosque placed in a residential area, in other words.

"Defamation of religious symbols" and "Prevention of religious worship" were the words of the court. He was not allowed to make noise in return.

The first time I heard the howling of the muezzin was in some village on the Yugoslav coast way back in 1969 sometime around four in the morning. Very disturbing.

If I had money I would have my wife's body removed from the cemetery it is in. The adjacent plots are muslim and they have come there parked their vehicles on the road and played muslim rap crap aloud for their departed to take up to allah! Sickening. I fear in the future that these bastards will rip up kufirs gravesites once the muslims gain power and majority (they are well on the way with their four wives and scads of children). We didn't know this when we purchased our burial plots. I would suggest to all to look into this so they won't regret like I do.

Outrageous! I lived in the Swiss countryside for a while. Although I didn't enjoy listening to yodeling all that much, I can't imagine an instance where I would have called the police! Besides, I was in their country, not the other way around. Yodeling doesn't sound anywhere near the same as the muslim prayer stuff. Even if he was making fun of them, which I imagine he wasn't, when does that merit a fine? Are we going to go start fining comedians who make fun of people? Boy, Don Rickles had better stay out of Austria.

I recollect O'Bummer claiming that the muslim call to prayer is, "the most beautiful sound in the world" . To those of other persuasions it is the most godawful racket. Someone should tell him.

I don't understand it! In a democracy one has a RIGHT to be offended. If my behavior is not illegal,(yodelling is NOT illegal) and you are offended by it then I'm sorry but you have to put up with it. If the offended party doesn't like it then THEY should move!

Let's have the Catholic church bells ring at noon and at other times as a call to prayer like they used to. If that "offends" Muslims then let them stop broadcasting five times a day. If they persist in trying to squelch Christian and other prayer, let's sue them for the racket and disruption five times a day.

I think when mowing one's lawn, yodeling is a right and a freedom of expression. In fact, I personally would rather hear yodeling in my neighborhood than the muslim call to prayer. Let them go back to their own backward countries where the lawns are made of sand.

I was looking through Quran recitations on YouTube - we see some star performances of the al-Fatiha including the last lines consisting of the usual Christophobia and Judaphobia - when I came across this video involving a "disused" Armenian church.

THe Muslims heard yodeling above the sound of a lawnmower?...Maybe next time he yodels, he should remove the muffler of the lawnmower...The Muslims did not complain about the lawnmower...they complained about the Non Muslim having freedom to yodel...Maybe they were concerned that other Muslims might hear the yodeling over the minaret call to arms and that they just might like the yodeling better...

The yodeler was mocking the call to prayer? Isn't Islam a mockery of all religions that came before it? What is the call of the muezzin but an imitation of the church bells? (Forgive me, but I'm not sure if Judaism has a similar custom or tradition.) I went to Catholic school and we used to hear the Angelus bells at noon and the church bells every Sunday. THEY were deemed noise and a violation of local ordinances but Muslims shouting outside their mosque at all hours of the day are no problem?

This is just too much. Not too miles away, over the border in Oberammergau, Bavaria, and some 45 years ago I could set my watch by 5:45 - 5:50 am, by an oxen bell going under my window. Occasionally, we'd hear yodeling between Holzsnitchlers (woodsmen) to let one another know where they were - as one might whistle - which they did too.

This is long before some imam was bellowing his nasal morning wails - from what he believes is now sacred land. (because he purchased it.) That's all it takes according to Shariah Law which is universal. As a matter of fact - historical fact - his privilege to do so was thwarted in 1529 by the battle of Vienna.

It is time Europeans start charging Muslims with offending them by disturbing the peace with their loud public prayers.
