Jihadist cleric Omar Bakri gets life sentence, vows not to serve any time at all

Longtime Jihad Watch readers will remember Bakri, who used to be an open and complacent jihadist in Britain. A few years back he held a conference honoring the "Magnificent 19," and there is no telling how many of his proteges and disciples are still active in the U.K. "Radical Lebanon cleric Omar Bakri jailed for life," by Omar Ibrahim for AFP, November 11 (thanks to all who sent this in):

TRIPOLI, Lebanon -- Radical Islamic preacher Omar Bakri, who was sentenced to life in prison on charges including inciting murder, told AFP on Friday he would "not spend one day" behind bars.

"I will not hand myself in to any court. I do not believe in the law in Britain as in Lebanon," Bakri told AFP at his home in the northern coastal city of Tripoli a day after the verdict against him.

"I have 15 days to appeal the verdict," he said, adding that he would "not spend one day in prison."

Bakri, a radical Sunni who has praised the September 11, 2001 attacks describing the hijackers as the "magnificent 19", was sentenced to life in prison by a Lebanese military court on Thursday.

He was found guilty -- along with more than 40 other Lebanese, Palestinian and Saudi citizens -- of charges that include inciting murder and belonging to an armed faction, capping a trial that had opened three years ago.

Bakri, who holds Lebanese nationality and lives in Tripoli, failed to show up in court on Thursday when the sentence was read. The other defendants were also sentenced in absentia.

He told AFP that he had not been informed formally the court would issue a verdict and insisted that he was innocent.

"I have no ties to Al-Qaeda, direct or indirect, other than the fact that I believe in the same ideology," he said at his home in the Abi Samra neighbourhood, a hub for radical Islamist groups....

Well, finally. As always, we can rely on these most devout firebrands to clearly state the truth.

Hey, PC Media. Are you listening? Hillary? Napolitano?

They don't care whether or not they are "affiliated" with al-Qaeda or not. Al-Qaeda are just those with recurring, established relationships and lines of communication. It's the ideology, stupids.

"I have no ties to Al-Qaeda, direct or indirect, other than the fact that I believe in the same ideology,"

Therein is the least heeded, wide spread belief and disclosure of our time.

""I have no ties to Al-Qaeda, direct or indirect, other than the fact that I believe in the same ideology," he said at his home ..."

Interestingly, all the other Muslim terrorists believe in the same ideology also....They proudly and openly boast of it often..

It is time to ban Muslim Immigration...

"told AFP on Friday he would "not spend one day" behind bars."

Already on the plane to Pakistan.

I was thinking when I read the title "a threat to kill himself? That'd show us!". Doesn't he start his sentence immediatly after being found guilty, and would have to apeal from jail? And if that's the case, since the apeal wouldn't happen within 1 day, wouldn't he spend... a day in jail?

I'm a little confused by this. Was he tried in abesense in Britian while he was in Tripoli?

"I will not hand myself in to any court."

Translation: "I will stink and throb in the tissue of humanity like a rotten molar."

"I do not believe in the law in Britain as in
Lebanon..."

Translation: "I believe in whichever laws suit me. When no laws suit me, I make up my own, just like Muhammed."

"I have 15 days to appeal the verdict..."

Translation: "I have fifteen days to appeal the verdict, though I have chosen to ignore the court."

Complex holy man, or imbecile? You decide.

Why is this guy not in custody? It's a rather odd legal system that doesn't compel, by force if necessary, defendants to be in court when sentenced. In the US he would have been jailed immediately once found guilty, bail only applies to defendants who have not yet been found guilty.

"Complex holy man, or imbecile? You decide."
Not an imbecile. Clever. Demonically clever.

I, for one, am glad that Bakri is in Tripoli. May all his adherents follow him there. In fact, if I were in the British government, I'd be proposing that they all be sent packing after him. It makes it easier to find them when we in the West eventually learn our own lesson, and follow the example of Ronald Reagan by comprehensively rearranging Tripoli for them.

Islam as a doctrine essentially caters and appeals to abusers of women and anarchists who want to be their own little gods within their own little Islamic kingdoms, even if that kingdom consists only of the domination and oppression of their wives and children. Others have more grandiose ambition to have larger Islamic kingdoms. The global jihad is so loosely affiliated as to allow for the formation of little Islamic kingdoms all around the world until they are united under the political Mahdi. That is why we see such scrambling of roosters to lay claim to their dung heaps.
