It's extremely heartening to read Mr Justice Cooke's perceptive and beeswaxed summation. .Paul Hoffman, do not give up on Blighty yet, Mr Cooke spoke those words in the highest court in this land, and it bodes well despite the screeching baboons in the public gallery. . I dont think Mr Justice Cooke spoke lightly considering that anything said about Islam has to get special clearance. Its a warning.

Ima, quite possibly you missed my comment above as you were writing yours. .the EDL is not a vigilante exercise whose intent it is to take the Law into their own hands. . Well Ms Choudhry must spend at least 15 years behind bars before she has a chance for parole! I wonder how many muslim women are behind bars in the UK!? I would guess not many (certainly less than in male prisons). Gosh, she'll have to spend a lot of time with kuffar women prisoners! Nice thought!

The penalty for someone who uses a deadly weapon to attack an MP or other elected representative in a liberal democratic society should be life without possibility of parole. That is not too harsh, given the fact that the crime is not just an attack on an individual, but on the democratic, law-based system itself. This was a crime of a little dictator who does not care about laws, except for those "laws" that she, in her arrogance, deems fit to impose unilaterally by force and violence on everyone. Despite appearances, Sharia is not law-based, but man-based, and merely arrogates to itself the right to speak for God and punish all who resist.

We've already had instances of Islamist demonstrations both inside and outside English courtrooms. What I found particularly disturbing on this occasion was that a muslim woman on the jury was singled out for abuse:

They taunted one Muslim juror in a veil: "Shame on you, sister!".

As sentence was passed two men were escorted from court by security guards as they repeatedly shouted: “Allahu Akbar” (God is great), “shame on the court” and “go to hell”. Then they turned to a young juror and screamed: “Shame on you sister, sitting on a jury, judging a Muslim sister.”

Other than to point it out as a separate issue I won't comment further on allowing veiled jurors.

It's a short step for jury intimidation to happen before the verdict rather than after.

Even with the current proportion of muslims in the potential pool of jurors, there's a good chance that there will generallly be at least one muslim on a jury in an English court.

This strikes at the heart of our system of justice and of trial by jury.

The recent mid-term elections in the U.S., where a conservative tidal wave has just swept over the country and a massive turnover in Congress is pending, could mark the turning of opinion here. More and more people are becoming disenchanted by Obama, and I expect that now we will start seeing perceptible shifts in public opinion toward erecting firewalls against Islam. The recent legislation in Oklahoma to prevent judges from turning to shariah and international laws that violate the U.S. Constitution is the first visible instance of that shift. There will be more to follow.

A good prayer for all non-Muslims of a religious persuasion, in Britain, today.

The Judge should have had these creatures arrested for contempt of court. His summation indicated his complete lack of knowledge of Islam and its tenets. This thing tried to kill an MP and she gets a minimum of 15 years. She should have been jailed for life - and I mean life.

If she had been succesful in killing Mr Tims, she should have been executed.

The creatures in the court showed a complete contempt for our judicial system. As far as I am concerned they should have been arrested and sentenced to a minimum of 5 years and if naturalised should have been expelled from GB alongside thier welfare eating families.

Sorry to say it, but fire must be fought by fire, not platitudes.

Judging from the comments of some normally quite moderate people on this matter people are getting the hump big time and even talking about supporting/joining the BNP.

The two men are obviously well-educated. Shamsuddin studied at Southampton’s Solent University and ran the Islamic Society there... He was radicalised after inviting Omar Bakri Mohammed (an extremist Muslim cleric now banned from Britain) to speak at the university.

Shamsuddin now has four children, three girls and a boy. Two of them go to private schools at a cost of £2,000 a year each, although he is living off benefits at a family house in Walthamstow.

Saleem has four children, two girls and two boys, and lives in Ilford. He too is jobless and claiming benefits. ‘I used to be a quality controller at a meat factory but they laid people off last year. I am looking for another job,’ he told me.
