Surely no one could possibly be surprised by this. "Cables Obtained by WikiLeaks Shine Light Into Secret Diplomatic Channels," by Scott Shane and Andrew W. Lehren for the New York Times, November 28 (thanks to her royal whyness):
WASHINGTON -- A cache of a quarter-million confidential American diplomatic cables, most of them from the past three years, provides an unprecedented look at back-room bargaining by embassies around the world, brutally candid views of foreign leaders and frank assessments of nuclear and terrorist threats. [...]ΒΆ Mixed records against terrorism: Saudi donors remain the chief financiers of Sunni militant groups like Al Qaeda, and the tiny Persian Gulf state of Qatar, a generous host to the American military for years, was the "worst in the region" in counterterrorism efforts, according to a State Department cable last December. Qatar's security service was "hesitant to act against known terrorists out of concern for appearing to be aligned with the U.S. and provoking reprisals," the cable said....
News flash: We are terrorism's proxies whenever we pump gasoline into our vehicles, an act for which I am equally guilty. True, I now own two street motorcycles and use them almost exclusively. That has helped me save a thousand gallons of gasoline over the last two years, thus putting LESS money into the terrorists' pockets; but it is still far from the perfect solution.
Reading a book of presidential biographies, I have noticed that US presidents since Ford have called for "energy sufficiency" in the USA. What has really happened though since the shortages of the early '70s? We have only tied the proverbial noose around our collective necks by becoming MORE, not LESS, dependent upon foreign, particularly Muslim, sources of energy.
Where are the programs designed to ween us off our poisonous addiction to fossil fuels?
Your dollers hard at work undermining your country. We had so many chances to make ourselves energy independent or find ways to use alternative forms of energy but the industrial and oil congrolamates made sure we stayed dependent.
Now we know for sure why the vile Saudi regime is trying to deflect attention on its Nazi-like sponsoring of Islamic fascism globally, by COMMANDING its Saudi-king bowing-loving Hussein Obama to attack Iran! After all, the Arabic Mohammed who founded Islam in order to justify continuing the evil Arabic cultural enslavement of women/children as sexual slaves and breeders of future Islamic male warriors (in opposition to Judaism and Christianity of civilized and righteous laws by God for all humanity), and the mass murder of the Jews to create pure Arabian kingdom, is what still motivate the most savage Arabic global conquest dream by the Saudi regime, using religion of course!
We Indians knew even in 2001 that USA should go after the saudis and declare a war to end that nation. But even as we said it, we knew USA would not attack saudis because it was more worried about oil supply than about American lives.
Oh, our good people from the House of Saud doing what they know best: financing the jihad, expanding Islam and giving the West a healthy injection of taqiyya to continually convince gullible leaders that they're still our "friends".
Cough.
When is the United States going to stop being played for a sucker by the Saudis and their fellow supremacists in the Mideast? Answer: When we get political leadership that acknowledges that the Saudis and their bedsheet fellows are not our friends, but as much a gang of hostiles as unfriendly as Iran. Don't expect that of Obama, Hillary Clinton, and their fellow travelers. They hate this country as much as our enemies. Their policies seek to bring us to our knees and submit to Islam.
You beat me to it. We need to get electric and natural gas vehicles deployed as the mainstay of our public and private vehicle infrastructure ASAP. Then we can fuel them FOREVER using 100% non-OPEC, non-al Qaeda fuels....
The scandal is not that these documents were leaked, but what they reveal about our "dhimmi" diplomacy and foreign policy, under both Bush and Obama. They reveal the extent to which our presidents have sold this country short. What shall we call this fiasco? "DiploGate"? "CableGate"? "DhimmiGate"?
Why is there so much hatred for USA in the minds of Arabs although outwardly they show love for it ? Because they firmly believe that (1) their sudden wealth of "black gold" has come to them as Allah's blessings for their continued prayers to Him despite the harsh desert conditions prevailing in their countries for centuries (2) The same Allah , through Koran , commanded Arabs (and Muslims) to hate those who try to change their Koranic ways of life !
So in case of (1) above it was not USA's oil companies who drilled oil in Arabia & Persia and in case of (2) USA fits the bill 100% !
To the liberal minded citizens of USA it is difficult to comprehend the logic of such Arab thinking ! The million dollar question is who are the Americans to judge the Arabs in the latter's belief system ? This is exactly where Bush went wrong in the first place to assume that USA could change the Muslim hearts to adopt western style of liberalism and democracy in Muslim countries such as Afganistan ! This is a fallacy in US attitudes towards the rest of the world and more the US sticks to this attitude more will it become the enemy number one of the worldwide Islamic countries !
So , desert countries like Saudi Arabia , UAE , Qatar who are some of the richest countries in the world will , Islamic as they are , remain anti USA in their hearts at all times
Qatar is a "generous host" to the American military? This is like describing Israel as a "generous host" to American military hardware. In each case it is the US which is generously protecting an "ally" (rather more generous in the case of Qatar, since Israel is a genuine ally which the US only helps protect in exchange for vassal-like obedience). Even when reporting a fact that reveals the Arabs as the craven double-dealers they are, the NYT betrays its overwhelming pro-Arab bias.
You know, Wikileaks does a great thing. It reveals to all of us the lies and crookery the cowards in charge of our US government and in command of our US military engage in in secret.

The Saudis aren't just writing the checks. They have consistently been the ones pulling the trigger, as well:
