Will they examine this question fully, fairly, and honestly? If so, that will be the first time in official Washington. "Muslim 'Radicalization' Is Focus of Planned Inquiry," by Raymond Hernandez for the New York Times, December 16:
WASHINGTON -- The Republican who will head the House committee that oversees domestic security is planning to open a Congressional inquiry into what he calls "the radicalization" of the Muslim community when his party takes over the House next year.Representative Peter T. King of New York, who will become the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said he was responding to what he has described as frequent concerns raised by law enforcement officials that Muslim leaders have been uncooperative in terror investigations.
He cited the case of Najibullah Zazi, an Afghan man and a legal resident of the United States, who was arrested last year for plotting to bomb the New York subway system. Mr. King said that Ahmad Wais Afzali, an imam in Queens who had been a police informant, had warned Mr. Zazi before his arrest that he was the target of a terror investigation.
"When I meet with law enforcement, they are constantly telling me how little cooperation they get from Muslim leaders," Mr. King said....
Cue predictable whining and claiming of victim status from people who, in a sane world, would be working hard to show they were loyal Americans who wholeheartedly and sincerely accepted Constitutional principles:
Told of Mr. King's plan, Muslim leaders expressed strong opposition, describing the move as a prejudiced act that was akin to racial profiling and that would unfairly cast suspicion on an entire group.Abed A. Ayoub, the legal director for the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, said Mr. King's effort ignored that Muslim leaders around the country had been working closely with law enforcement officials since the 2001 terror attacks.
"We are disturbed that this representative who is in a leadership position does not have the understanding and knowledge of what the realities are on the ground," Mr. Ayoub said, adding that Mr. King's proposal "has bigoted intentions."
Salam al-Marayati, the executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, also expressed deep concern and noted that his group would be holding a convention this weekend at which members would discuss the impact that the Republican takeover of Congress could have on Muslims.
"He basically wants to treat the Muslim-American community as a suspect community," Mr. Marayati said of Mr. King. He added that Mr. King was potentially undermining the relationship that Muslim leaders had sought to build with law enforcement officials around the country. Tensions have occasionally erupted in recent years over counterterrorism measures that civil rights groups and others said had gone too far.
In 2007, for example, the Los Angeles Police Department was forced to abandon a plan to create a map detailing the city's Muslim communities after civil rights advocates and Muslim leaders denounced the effort as a form of racial profiling....
The controversy was actually about mapping mosques. Yet churches and synagogues are open, public places. Everyone knows where they are. No one objects if maps are made.
Mr. King, who has conveyed his intentions to Republican leaders in the House, said he would seek comment from mainstream Muslim leaders so that the hearings he was planning to hold were not one-sided, with only people critical of Muslims.
Yeah, that's so important, because "mainstream Muslim leaders" never get a fair hearing, and "people critical of Muslims" are featured in the mainstream media on a regular basis -- no, wait...
But Mr. King suggested that Muslim leaders had minimized the extent of the problem he said he had identified. "They try to tell me that it is not as bad as it seems," he said.
Yes, don't trust your lying eyes, trust Honest Ibe Hooper.
I wonder if Keith Ellison will try to get on the committee as a "mole".
Why waste money on an inquiry when it is obvious the cause of "radicalization' of muslims is ISLAM itself! Just read the hadiths and examine the behavior of Mohammed. There, I've just saved US taxpayers millions.
"Will they examine this question fully, fairly, and honestly"?
No. Between the horror of discovering that the "holy" Koran itself is the source of radicalism and the usual pressure applied by CAIR and its Leftist enablers in Congress this inquiry will first get little publicity and then simply fade away. After that, there will be calls for inqiries in the future, especially when terror attacks occur somewhere in the world. Then the cycle will simply repeat itself as usual-with nothing at all being done as usual.
I have just finished reading - although not quite finished trying to comprehend - a one-page review on the Swedish religious historian professor Mattias Gardell's book "Islamophobia" in the Danish highly politically correct Dhimmi daily newspaper "Politiken", the only newspaper to actually abjectly apologize for the Muhammad cartoons.
Just one sample: the expression "Islamic terrorist attacks" cannot exist according to the review, for this form of thinking is to be avoided at all cost. The term "Islamophobia" does exist however as a way of thinking negatively of all Muslims.
Oh, and the recent Swedish Islamic terrorist (sorry!) is described as an "unhappy young man" of a "minority in a difficult position".
Does anyone know if Rep. Allen West has been assigned to serve on this committee? If not, he needs to be.
"Mr. Ayoub said, adding that Mr. King's proposal "has bigoted intentions."
Oh, shut-up, Ayoub. Muslims are the bigots, and you shouldn't be here in the first place. Why aren't you living in a Muslim country? I don't get it. Why are you here?
"Told of Mr. King's plan, Muslim leaders expressed strong opposition, describing the move as a prejudiced act that was akin to racial profiling and that would unfairly cast suspicion on an entire group."
It is far beyond suspicion anymore,No doubt NY Representative Peter King will face strong opposition from the Muslim Community, but to back down will be a serious mistake. We can no longer stand by and continue to put this issue on the back burner. Will King get cooperation from Homeland Security, or those in the Obama Administration? Will he get cooperation from the so-called moderate Muslims in America--somewhat doubtful. Could we actually see Muslims coming before his committee and testifying, also doubtful.
Experts like Robert Spencer,Steve Emerson, Wafi Sultan, and host of hundreds more should openly testify about the actions of Islam in America as well as those on the international front like Geert Wilders on C-Span.
USorThem above notes Lt Col Allen West as a possible participant on this committee--I certainly hope he does, he is demonstrated his keen awareness of the behavior of Islam.
I suspect there will be a organized effort on Muslims all over the country to try and shut down Rep.Peter King's efforts on this.
No matter what Bill O'reilly says there is a subtle effort to introduce sharia into America, the Muslim Brothers Association has connections to the Muslim Student Associations found now on over 600 major university campuses throughout America.
"He basically wants to treat the Muslim-American community as a suspect community
Yes yes yes and AMEN to that. How many more homegrown terorist we have to find?, how many more plots for mass murder and destruction has to be uncovered?,how many time we have to forgive the hate speach because it is written in the Quran ?,how long we will give a blind eye to the double standard they are showing every day by not condemning what is happening in Islamic countries to non moslems?(they can't because that is the real Islam)and how many time we have to swallow there lies about the religion of peace befor we can see the essential need for for racial profilling so we-Every body else other than moslems-may have some peace.
"The controversy was actually about mapping mosques. Yet churches and synagogues are open, public places. Everyone knows where they are. No one objects if maps are made."
Well, in many societies and political systems they are very averse to photographs being taken of military installations of any kind. Or train stations. Yup, photographing train stations is verboten.
I fail to see the connection between mosques and high-security military installations however.
..
oh..
A House Committee on Un-American Islamic Activities? Joe McCarthy is cheering in his grave. It's about time!
The notion is not faulty at all. According to statistics published by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), in its 2009 report on terrorism, Muslims are many times more likely than all other groups combined worldwide to commit acts of terrorism. And that is even after including the more than 1,000 acts committed in 2009 by groups the NCTC classifies as "Christian Extremists".
Well, there is Anjem Choudary who openly admits he wants to overthrow the Democratic state in favor of a Caliphate. Now does HE suppose authorities will react to openly or secretly siding with helping enemies and terrorists?
We should remind these protesting Muslims about what he said and how right about Islam he seems to be. We should remind them that it is our aim that as many people as possible as best as possible understand Islam; all it's texts and what really was meant by its writer and by the most influential Islamic intepreters of them. Then what all Muslims all over the world really practice and say.
Once a majority and multitudes of citizens of Democratic Nations are really knowledgeable about Islam, often even more so than Muslims themselves, then from Islamic leaders it should be asked/ expected to display a much more humble attitude in respons to security-investigations and -measures.
They should respond much more understanding to this new investigation, if only because they are tired of always denying or hiding the obvious meaning of core Islamic texts. And because of being proud of them, they should admit that the later-developed Democracy indeed is in contradiction with their precious holy texts, in parts at least. And therefore that they see the logic of thorough investigation.
They should in the end consider Big Democratic Reform of Islam, or otherwise de facto Apostacy from Islam, or Migration to Islamic countries. And they should be understanding the risk they are causing of violence or even war the way they are operating with Islam in Democratic Nations and Islamic nations both now.
They should merely ask for only being fairly treated and protected according to the Democratic laws and they should express trust in these.
Too bad congressman King currently only represents part of New York, the rest of our nation is in dire need of someone of his moral and courageous caliber to stand up and speak the truth while doing us form those who wish ill upon us. Jihadists, terrorists and devout muslims.
The opposition to Peter King outside of the perpetual victim status that Muslims reach for of course will come from the dhimmis in America. The likes of NY Mayor Gloomberg who remains clueless because he like so many other enabling leftists and elitist refuses to open the book, and refuses to address the root causes that drive the jihadists. People like Bloomberg get their talking points from taquiya practicing Muslims like Iman Feisal Rauf who runs around charming the dhimmi world with his big lies wherever he can.
I think Rep. King is going to need some great push back support from those that are not stuck on stupid (political correctness).
Good for Rep. Peter King. He is sure to be vigorously opposed by CAIR, MSA and the usual suspects from the American dhimmi community, but I hope he persists and presses forward. One wonders what behind the scenes pressure will be brought to bear on King to abandon this project.
But assuming he proceeds, the expert witnesses called to testify should include Robert Spencer, Daniel Pipes, Bat Ye'or and others who have the big picture of Islam in the West as viewed by Westerners and can frame their testimony in terms that are understandable to Western ears.
But fairness in hearing all sides will dictate that King will have to include pro-Islam witnesses, as well. Among those called to testify he should consider soliciting video testimony from spokesmen who have proven to be the most capable in articulating clearly and unambiguously the Muslim agenda: Anjem Choudary, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Anwar al-Awlaki, Adam Gadahn, Sheikh Abu Hamza, maybe even Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri, as well. I'm sure these guys would be more than happy to explain the situation properly, and in the process unable to resist issuing the usual ultimatum of conversion, dhimmitude, or death. There are many in the U.S. who have not heard these spokesmen for Islam, and they need to listen closely to their words.
King has the power to set the order in which testimony is presented, so he could schedule their testimony to alternate with Imam Rauf's and Douggie Hooper's. Force Rauf and Hooper and Ingrid Matson to respond directly to Choudary et al. It'd be political theater of the highest order, and a much more effective format for exposing the hypocrisy if Islam than any amount of pontificating.
Support him.
And every single person sitting in Congress, and every single Senator, and every State politician as well, might be sent, with a suitable covering letter, two items, both of them short and sharp.
1. Raymond Ibrahim's article on Taqiyya, which may be read in full, and which may also be printed off in hardcopy, here:
http://www.meforum.org/2538/taqiyya-islam-rules-of-war
"How Taqiyya Alters Islam's Rules of War: Defeating Jihadist Terrorism".
2. One Patrick L Moore's article, from 1994, on Jihad. Moore appears to be, or to have been - judging from his bibliography - an exceedingly well-informed American lawyer.
http://www.ewtn.com/library/ISSUES/GUERRA.HTM
FROM "COLD WAR" TO GUERRA FRIA? - Patrick L. Moore
Jihadwatchers who may like to have a go at finding him, take note of the following items in the article's bibliography:
Note 7 says:' For a more detailed description of the strategic ideology of jihad, see Patrick L. Moore, '"Jihad" and Conflict in the World of Islam', CJ INTERNATIONAL, Office of International Criminal Justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago, (January- February, 1994).'
Note 37 refers to another Moore article - 'A Dictionary of Soviet Double-Talk and Gulag Glossary Reveals Some Unusual Etymologies', NEW YORK CITY TRIBUNE, June 18 and 19, 1986.
I encourage American jihadwatchers to have a go at tracing - and perhaps contacting, if he is still alive - this mysterious Patrick L Moore.
There is another Raymond Ibrahim article on Taqiyya, but it is not online; to get hold of it you would have to be a subscriber to the military-related journal 'Jane's Islamic Affairs Analyst', or find a large library that keeps copies of that journal upon its shelves.
"Islam's Doctrines of Deception", in Jane's Islamic Affairs Analyst, 26 September 2008.
and these hearings will be labeled McCarthy-like by the Left.........of course, McCarthy was right too
News alert to Mr. Marayati:
There's a reason why 90% of Americans consider the Muslim community a "suspect community."
You know why...I know why...and so do millions of other Americans who have wised up to your antics and false hysteria. Go back home. We don't want your Sharia law and the theocracy that goes with that.
We need investigations and the more that is exposed about Islam the better. Maybe more sleppy heads will finally wake up.
