The penalty for fornication or sodomy, according to the Shafi'i Sharia manual 'Umdat al-Salik:
If the offender is someone with the capacity to remain chaste, then he or she is stoned to death (def: o12.6), someone with the capacity to remain chaste meaning anyone who has had sexual intercourse (A: at least once) with their spouse in a valid marriage, and is free, of age, and sane. A person is not considered to have the capacity to remain chaste if he or she has only had intercourse in a marriage that is invalid, or is prepubescent at the time of material intercourse, or is someone insane at the time of marital intercourse who subsequently regains their sanity prior to committing adultery.If the offender is not someone with the capacity to remain chaste, then the penalty consists of being scourged (def: o12.5) one hundred stripes and banished to a distance of at least 81 km./50 mi. for one year. An offender is not scourged in intense heat or bitter cold, or when he is ill and recovery is expected (until he recovers), or in a mosque, or when the offender is a woman who is pregnant, until she gives birth and has recovered from childbed pains. The whip used should be neither new nor old and worn-out, but something in between. The offender is not stretched out when scourged, or bound (O: as his hands are left loose to fend off blows), or undressed (O: but rather an ankle-length shirt is left upon him or her), and the scourger does not lay the stripes on hard (O: by raising his arm, such that he draws blood). The scourger distributes the blows over various parts of the body, avoiding the vital points and the face. A man is scourged standing; a woman, sitting and covered (O: by a garment wrapped around her). If the offender is emaciated, or sick from an illness not expected to improve, then he or she is scourged with a single date palm frond (O: upon which there are a hundred strips, or fifty. If a hundred, such an offender is struck once with it, and if fifty, then twice), or with the edge of a garment.

I have seen other lashings that were much more brutal, but then, I think this was just an excerpt of the 100 lashings this poor woman received.How utterly barbaric for someone who calls them selves a human being to participate in such behavior as this. And what fun it is for the men invloved as they are laughing and joking and enjoying the whole process of the public humiliation and pain inflicted on this poor woman. This is such an outrage it would be easy for me to set up a 30 caliber machine gun and bring an abrupt end to those nasty sob's that did this, and enjoyed it. Khushi, I no longer call islam a religion, to me its just another ideology. These people are barbarians, plain and simple. The laughter coming from the witnesses heard on the video is telling. I know if i was to witness this I would not be laughing, I would be appalled.
I have been following islam for a number of years now. I know that this type of barbarism occurs all to often. Seeing it on video makes it hit home. How one human being can treat another in such a manner is unbelievable.
I am pro death penalty. I am no pacifist. I might even be willing to accept public execution for convicted murderers, like those who kill children. Whatever this womans 'crime' was I am sure it wasn't murder. Most likely she was caught with someone not her husband. What a bunch of animals.
I couldn't watch it. That poor woman. Seeing this makes me so angry that some sharia-supporting Muslims say 'Oh, there's a braod spectrum of thought in sharia law, don't worry...'. It's pure obfuscation, since the four major schools all agree on brutal punishments like these.

What makes these actions especially evil is that one of the sharia "policemen" (if they can be called that) actually laughs at the woman's pain and suffering that is being inflicted by his partner, and then he steps in to whip her hands away from desperately holding off the other guy's whip. There is evil behaviour, and then there is enjoying engaging in evil behaviour. All the elements that enable evil behaviour are there, including the crowd that not only does nothing to stop this unjustified brutality, but most of whom probably thinks it is justified, due to the brainwashing of an evil ideology (Islam) that commands in plain terms that people be punished in this fashion.
It may be said that this type of evil--enjoying punishing others and causing them pain--is part of human nature, and that perhaps some individual personalities are more prone to it than others. Perhaps, but it is also worth pointing out that this type of evil is advocated by Allah in the Quran, e.g., punishing the disbelievers with torture and hell-fire because they "mocked" Muhammad's "revelations," and then laughing at the disbelievers while they are being tortured.
The Quran says (83:34) "But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers"
Of this verse and the ensuing passage, al-Jalalayn tafsir has this commentary:
"So today, that is, the Day of Resurrection, the believers will be laughing at the disbelievers, upon couches, in Paradise, gazing, out from their dwellings at the disbelievers while they are being tortured; and they will laugh at them just as they, the disbelievers, had laughed at them in the world. Have the disbelievers been requited for what they used to do? Yes, indeed!"
Ibn Abbas comments:
"This day) which is the Day of Judgement (it is those who believe) in Muhammad (pbuh) and the Qur'an: i.e. 'Ali and his fellow believers (who have the laugh of disbelievers) who will laugh at the disbelievers, (On high couches) in curtained canopies, (gazing) looking at the people of the Fire being dragged therein. (Are not the disbelievers paid) rewarded in the Hereafter (for what they used to do) except for what they used to do and say in the life of the world?'"
If these is how the koranimals treat their own women under Sharia law, imagine how "kind" (note to left wingers with no sense of humour: the quotation marks indicate sarcasm) Islamic governments will be to Christian and Jewish (!) women and men, especially the former.

Yeah, I suppose we do, at least in terms of Christianity. But no one ever said anything about mosque and state as Sharia inches its way into the culture, from footbaths to Muslim cabbies refusing certain fares (with no adverse legal consequences) to welfare for multiple "wives" to a whole lot more.

The problem with people like LaGrange is they, without researching, assuming sharia must be entirely about abusing vague passages from the Koran, as the occasional pastor does with the Bible to little actual effect. As the quoted passage shows, sharia is as specific, carefully thought out, and couched in legalize as the nazi Nuremburg laws were, and is implemented for entire nations run by imams, leading to massive diabolical and destructive effect.

Ah, it takes me back...almost makes me feel nostalgic. Those blue uniforms... I remember being taken in by them for suspected espionage, and how many times did I see them jumping over walls to catch alcohol producers? And then there were the crowds of them at the mosque where the janjaweed were trained... and beating the over-enthusiastic fans at the Nuban wrestling matches...and truckloads of them at the trial of the woman who wore trousers last year. And being warned not to argue with them becuase I might just disappear...and that lovely, peaceful Sufi music, always in the background...an Islamic paradise, really.
