What's so special about that? There are numbers of atheists who post here, but most are polite and don't get up tight with those who are religious...
Good awards. I don't agree with everything Pamela or Geert do and say, but that is to miss the point, that both have taken the fight to teh totalitarian enemy and put
themselves in the firing line, and sadly with the number of Jihadists loose on the planet, that isn't necessarily a metaphor.
I don't personally think President Obama's policies are wildy different from George Bush's but given his refusal to be honest about his Islamic heritage, his bowing and scraping to those bloated tyrants in Jeddah,and his making NASA a tool for appeasement of Muslims, I think we does deserve it.

As an Atheist, I do not discriminate between religions. I think they're all equally barbaric and psychologically damaging to individuals. Islam and their rabid followers are just more violent, psychopathic and backwards due to the lack of a "reformation" or "enlightenment" that Christianity has undergone. If you wish to engage in a sado-masochistic relationship with an imaginary deity, please be my guest, but keep me out of it. Keep an open mind. I was an atheist until I realized there was no way to prove there is no God. There's more evidence for Him than against.
Now- on topic: here's my thanks to Pamela and Robert. Since I found your websites, I'm much more optimistic about the future of western civilization, a civilization that owes its very existence to Judeo-Christianity.

Paula assumes her wishful thinking should be shared by everyone else. It isn't. Duh_swami: We get "impolite" when we forget that we are "second class" and get a bit uppity. That is never going to change so once in a while there will be hissing matches.
Reason happens to be sacred to most of us who are atheist. Once in a while, try to show a bit of respect for that.

Robin generally arrives on cue when someone makes REALLY broad Jesus statements in the very first comment slot. Mark it down -- she will be here, offended.
We don't know all the reasons people do what they do, but we can make a fairly educated guess much of the time. I am entitled to my opinion as to WHY Robin does this, having seen similar behavior by Islamists of various and sundry stripes on other web sites. It's called taquiyya. But you knew that already, right?
Proclaim your identity as an atheist, by all means. But as the Swami said, there is nothing special about it. There is definitely nothing special enough to merit capitalizing the word "atheist" -- as nubes like Robin tend to do.

I'm not Christian but I do know we must support Christians. We won't like what fills the vacuum the lack of Christianity might leave. So I support Christians & their holidays and fight for them wherever & whenever I can.
I too, find any praying on this site or others irritating at best but I try to ignore it. It should be saved for religious sites.
Let's all grow up and focus our efforts on the the good fight, the counter-jihad.
Our Lord may not be your lord, but I am, like you, glad for the gift of free will and personal autonomy; I just don't see God as a petty Oriental despot as so many do. I see God as Reason Himself in His very Essence, Who seeks (but does not need) our freely given love (as He Himself IS Love).

I respect him, and avidly cheer-on his (admittedly Free-Thought) critique (that is, savage shredding) of absurd, ossified Islam. Here, however, I respectfully disagree with his attack on religious faith as a whole, and find that my view of it doesn't correspond to his, so markedly different our very notions of religion are, his from mine.

Robin, I couldn't agree with you more. Katharina, a proclaimed ex-muslim, is now a rabid Christian. I despair of people like that, they are at the core of all the problems in the world (and have been for centuries). I can only wonder how rabid she was when she was a moslim? Scary really. I am an agnostic, I believe there is something out there, but that it could be anything, in any form. Or maybe nothing. If you are a good, decent person, respectful of yourself and others you don't need all this mumbo jumbo in any religion.
Also an atheist, i find the very idea of religion sick and revulsive. The difference between christianity and islam isnt all that big.
However i do know who i have to work with in the counter-jihad.
The christians have gone through reformation and enlightenment and profess the ability to do so again should things go nasty again.
I can also be quite certain that at this day and age the christians wont do another inquisition or atleast that they wont manage it for very long. The muslims however will without any doubt conduct a purge for any person like me when they gain the ability to do so, i cannot be dhimmified nor will i stay silent ergo its either me and my family or them. I choose them, even at the cost of having to put up another christian era, it wont be happy but it sure as hell wont mean the destruction of the western civilization just a little delay which is sometimes even good.
So lets keep to the point, we all have our favourity frenemies but lets keep in mind also that whatever our differences we can solve them through dialog and self-imposed segregation, we cannot solve Islam by talking nice or surrendering they will eliminated us.
