I know - I just checked - that the Somali Bible, that is, the entire Bible translated into one of the Somali languages - was published in 1977. That's 33 years ago. So we can safely say that there was a book in written Somali, 33 years ago.
Those stashed Bibles and other Christian materials, hidden by secret Somali Christians (most of them apostates from Islam) that were destroyed by jihadists in the past month, would all have been written in Somali.

There are Somali apostates from Islam, within Somalia, who have *died* - shot, or beheaded - rather than renounce their Christian faith. Quite a few of them, in the past three or four years.
As for those within the West...in the West, at the moment, I don't see that any given Muslim individual or family would find much material gain in converting to Christianity....they can get residency, citizenship, welfare, you-name-it, all while remaining Muslim; indeed, it's for *staying Muslim* that they stand to get lots of attention and flattery and 'positive strokes' and special accommodations.
Even here, if they become Christian, they face very real danger (think of Rifqa Bary! there are ex-Muslim converts to Christianity in the UK and in other parts of the West who basically live in hiding under changed names) since our clueless authorities still haven't grasped the reality of the apostasy law - that sharia requires the death of any Muslim who leaves, or tries to leave, Islam.
I think taqiyya-prompted fake conversions would only become probable or predominant if mass deportations of Muslims started to happen.

This is what stood out to me.

Doubt if Somali's are desperate, Mugwump. They receive so many gubmint checks every month that without direct deposit this particular group of Moslems would have logistical problems managing their accounts, but wouldn't be hurting financially.
