And in northern Nigeria last night, Islamist sect members launched a failed attack on a church during Christmas Eve services.

ebonystone, it was an infidel-run food center. While most of the Muslims getting free food considered it mere jizya, some might actually have positive thoughts towards the infidels involved. That can't be permitted, ergo the bombs. They weren't trying to kill Muslims, per se, they were just involuntary martyers to the cause of Islamic jihad. If doing so causes Muslims to associate infidels with death and destruction, Islam itself being out of bounds for such consideration, so much the better.
