I do not understand why Islam devalues life in general. I understand the passages in the Koran where they hate and devalue non Muslims, but I never quite understood why their culture devalues all life, even that of a beautiful daughter.

Mike, these phenomena are closely related. He killed his daughter because she was no longer sufficiently Islamic—she had become, essentially, an "apostate" by her actions.
She—and her boyfriend's mother—had basically become "non-Muslim" in the eyes of Faleh Almaleki.
This is true with *almost all* Muslim-on-Muslim savagery—the victim is either other-sect Islam, and hence not considered a "real Muslim", or else is regarded as "insufficiently Islamic", as a "hypocrite", or as an outright "apostate".
In the off-chance that any "true" Muslim gets caught up in the mayhem and is killed, he simply goes straight to paradise as a "Martyr" of Jihad.

It bears repeating that 'moderate' Muslims are like Catholics who use aritficial birth control methods.
Neither is in full compliance with the teachings of their respective beliefs; teachings which are almost wholly incompatible with democracy and the U.S. Constitution; as this case demonstrates.

Another very important point.
Every so often, you hear about some heartbreaking story where some parent or grandparent accidentally runs over a child in the driveway, usually while piloting some vehicle with poor visibility.
Typically, the driver and the rest of the family rush to the child's aid, call the paramedics, or rush the child to the hospital. Frequently they *themselves* tearfully call the police to report what happened.
The idea that any parent would accidentally and without malice run over their child and then *flee the country*—without so much as getting their child assistance—strains credulity.
