The letter cites opponents who alleged the proposed mosque would be "a refuge for terrorists," and a nearby pastor who reportedly said that Islam and Christianity are like "oil and water" and that Islam is "intolerant at its core."

Also have fliers printed off to give to passers by, citing some of the most virulently antisemitic texts in the Islamic 'scriptures' and revealing the reality that the Arab war on Israel is and always has been Jihad, no different in tactics and in aim from the Jihad being waged against and within India, against and within the Philippines, against and within Russia, Thailand, Sudan, Nigeria, you-name-it.

The actions of the anti-Defamation league appear consistent with much of the writing on JihadWatch.
Neither Robert nor Roland have ever advocating harassing Muslims who are citizens, nor denying them the opportunity to build mosques. Their opposition was in the specific location of the ground zero mosque.
So saying, it is entirely consistent with protecting the rights of Muslim citizens that we shut off any further Muslim immigration. Roland has made a cogent argument to drastically reduce all immigration, on the grounds that politically, we will not be able to target Muslims specifically, and that it is preferable in that case to shut off immigration altogether. I agree with that argument, but I am not ready to concede the premise that we are not able to work out a deal between liberals and conservatives.
I personally would like to see an immigration law that allows illegal immigrants and their children who can speak English and who have not committed any other criminal activities to remain and have a pathway to citizenship, which allows qualified and educated non-Muslims a freer entry to live and work in the US, and which specifically excludes anyone who advocates a religion that aims at the replacement of our non-religious government, even peacefully. The exclusion would be retroactive, so an ex-Muslim who attains citizenship and reverts to Islam, or a naturalized citizen who converts to Islam would be deported.
These provisions would not apply to citizens naturalized prior to the law. It is important that we maintain our system of legal protections, even for doctrines we dislike, while at the same time protecting ourselves.
