Iraq: 12 al-Qaeda-linked jihadists walk out of Basra prison dressed in police uniforms

"Of course, there was collusion from within the compound." "Iraq seeks militants after Basra jail breakout," from BBC News, January 14:

Twelve militants linked to al-Qaeda have broken out of a prison in Basra in southern Iraq, the authorities say.
The men were awaiting trial when they obtained police uniforms and walked out of the detention centre - in one of Saddam Hussein's former palaces - before dawn, security officials said.
They are said to have ties with the Islamic State of Iraq - a Sunni insurgent group affiliated to al-Qaeda.
All the prison guards have been arrested and a manhunt is under way.
"Of course, there was collusion from within the compound, but we do not know who is involved at the moment," said Ali Ghanim al-Maliki, head of the security committee at Basra's provincial council.
The 12 were the only detainees held at the detention centre - in a fortified compound which also houses the governor's office, the police headquarters and an intelligence cell.
Half of them had confessed to involvement in multiple bombings since 2004 in Basra and the southern cities of Amarah and Nasiriyah, an intelligence officer told the Associated Press news agency.
Their confessions led the authorities to the other six suspects, the officer said.
He added that the fugitives were believed to be heading to Baghdad to obtain fake IDs and passports to help them flee the country.
Car searches and identity checks have been stepped up, and checkpoints set up on two major northbound roads....

Think how often you could apply this to the situation in Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Pakistan, or Saudi Arabia, or Yemen, or any other hell-hole in Dar-al-Islam.

And this is why jihadists should be immediately eliminated. They are walking killers, they should be killed on the spot.

Sweden: Government to meet with Muslim representatives

The Minister for Integration, Eric Ullenhag, writes in an debate article in newspaper Dagens Nyheter that the suicide attack in Stockholm before Christmas risks imposing guilt and suspicions on hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Sweden. "It is unacceptable that a certain group is attached to collective guilt." Therefore, he will meet representatives of the Muslim community to discuss how the government should work to combat discrimination and Islamophobia. (TT/SVT)

Can I have a few more of my tax dollars got to these shmoes.

Did I say shmoes? I'm sorry, I meant to say shmucks.

Sorry this is OT, but there is breaking news about those repulsive t-shirts handed out at the Tucson Obama shout-out and pep rally masquerading as a "solemn memorial service" last Wednesday. Seems they weren't exactly the spontaneous donation of heartfelt expression the University of Arizona claims they were. Details at http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/32138

Why should we believe the guards were arrested? This is a government press release, not proof of the alleged facts. Even if they were, who is to say they won't be released when the heat dies down? This is after all an Islamic country, and jihadists are rock stars in Islam.

The only people who cannot escape Muslim jails are non-Muslims...

I'm kinda hoping that the US government was behind this to teach those Iran leaning shi'ites a lesson as we draw down.

@Zulu - From your post...

The Minister for Integration, Eric Ullenhag, writes in an debate article in newspaper Dagens Nyheter that the suicide attack in Stockholm before Christmas risks imposing guilt and suspicions on hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Sweden.

Only "risks" Mr. Minister? But if it happens, it's a self-inflicted condition. If Muslims were really concerned with cultivating positive public perceptions, instead of constantly busying themselves with fighting negative perceptions, they would take matters into their own hands and cleanse the jihadis from their midst. The fact that they don't is evidence of their tacit approval of the violence. Instead, one sees the very opposite occurring, and to make matters worse they actually get support from the "Minister for Integration" (a misnamed position if ever there was - a better title would be "Minister of Islamic Interests and Grievances") who promotes their cause. Disgusting.

"It is unacceptable that a certain group is attached to collective guilt." Therefore, he will meet representatives of the Muslim community to discuss how the government should work to combat discrimination and Islamophobia.

It is even more unacceptable that such a hard-core enabler of, and apologist for, Islam-inspired sedition be in a position of influence at the ministerial level. Although it's the Swedes' call, from my perspective a better solution would be that Eric Ullenhag be immediately fired and replaced by someone not so obviously promoting the Islamists' agenda, and otherwise steeped in radical Leftist ideology. Further, a drastic increase in the representation of the Sweden Democrats in both the Swedish and EU parliaments would be highly desirable to help contain this disease and keep it from spreading farther.
