Senior Iranian cleric says uprisings herald creation of "Islamic Middle East"

I wrote here about how Islamic supremacists were trying to take advantage of events in Tunisia; popular uprisings in majority-Muslim countries will generally tend to work in favor of pro-Sharia forces, which (despite the universal assumption in the West that they constitute a Tiny Minority of Extremists™) enjoy broad popular support. Calls for democracy effectively amount to calls for Islamic rule.

"Shia cleric praises new 'Islamic Mideast,'" from the AhlulBayt News Agency, January 28 (thanks to Twostellas):

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The leader of Tehran's interim Friday Prayers was referring to the recent historic revolution in Tunisia and massive protests in Egypt, Jordan, and Yemen.

"Incidents that are happening in the Middle East and the Arab world should not be regarded simply," he told worshippers on Friday.

"To those who do not see the realities I clarify that an Islamic Middle East is being created based on Islam, religion, and democracy with prevailing religious principals [sic]," Ayatollah Khatami said.

Egypt's largest opposition group the Muslim Brotherhood on Thursday called on the country's people to continue protests after the weekly Muslim prayer congregation of Friday.

Muslim Brotherhood spokesman Essam al-Arian warned that Egypt would "explode" if the government does not listen to the people.

Police clamped down on anti-government protesters in the Egyptian capital of Cairo on Friday.

The leader of Tehran's interim Friday Prayers said the recent uprisings in the Arab world have Islamic support as people came to the streets with the slogan of "God is the Greatest."

Ayatollah Khatami also praised the congregational prayers in Tunisia days after the revolution ousted former President Zine El Abidin Ben Ali from power.

A vast majority of Tunisia's population is Muslims and committed to Islamic values.

Imagine the horror to Israel, and the Jews, Christians(especially Coptic Christians) and all non-Muslims in the Middle-East. NATO should go in there - are they waiting for the Islamic Nazis to take over the Middle East? After all, that God-hating Socialist Hitler loved Islam where Hitler’s beloved Mufti of Jerusalem was part of the Ottoman army, and Turkey and the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood was among Hitler’s biggest collaborators or advisers.

It's funny that no one has blamed those pesky 'Zionists so far.Maybe if the Islamic Revolution fails to materialize they will blame 'the Zionists'.

Yes. I don't believe that the uprising in Tunisia was particularly "Islamic" to begin with—it had more in common with the riots in Greece and the student protests in Britain. (one can argue that these sort of phenomena are hardly healthy for a society, but they are in no way specifically "Islamic")

But as always in Dar-al-Islam, in the absence of a strong man like Ben Ali, there is *no model but Islam*. Hence *any* civil dissatisfaction is likely to take on the character of an "Islamic revolution", whatever its original frustrations.

"Democracy", huh? Just the sort of "democracy" we see in Iran, no doubt...

While Tunisia's "Jasmine Revolution" may have lacked an Islamic aspect, at least initially, it seems likely that further uprisings across the Mahgreb will have an all too Islamic character from the very beginning.

Also notice—as is so common in the Muslim world—that the call for violence issues from the Minbar of the Mosque.

"Listening to the people" can mean all sorts of things—from the citizenry's thirst for true freedom to their demand for artificial governmental price-fixing and the guarantee of social entitlements. In the Muslim world, it is so often a demand for unfettered Islam and the *imposition of Shari'ah*.

Every bit of Muslin aggression is accompanied by the baleful cry of "Allahu Akbar!".

Very, very true, Katharina.

Glenn Beck has had a somewhat mixed record in his understanding of Islam, but he was right on the mark yesterday. Referring to the Islamic unrest in Egypt and speaking of Israel, he said, "God help them if Egypt falls". He noted that he is *no* fan of the authoritarian Mubarak, but fears the threat to Israel that will result from the ascendancy of the Muslim Brotherhood.

he is full of shit. the Iranian government is hitting their pants.

Some people realize, others don't, that Iran is playing a form of chess, using various nations as the pieces, to line them up as a strong offensive front, for various reasons, and muslims, the pawns. A quoted definition of chess is: "A game of chess is a simulated war."

What is really going on is a real war, reaching an end game, played like a chess game, by islamists, of Iran, most likely. Another related quote: "It (Chess) was a prime pastime of kings. The predecessor to chess was invented by the Persians over a thousand years ago and the knowledge and popularity of the game spread far and wide, like the Persian kingdom". This is from: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/chess-pieces-names-of-chess-pieces.html

Just saying.

Iran is absent of fear, feeling pretty smug, these days! Not to say their is no danger for them, just how they feel. Whether it is ultimately proven right or wrong!

How about this spreading to Saudi-Arabia, home of the mythology of Mohammad and his nefarious Moon-god Al-ilah (Allah) worshipped as the meteorite "moon rock" inside the Kabba? What's the odds they're next? Maybe after next Friday's 'prayers' to their Moon-god rock? Mullahs are chomping at the bit.

In the end, this appears more and more a 'chess game' between Iran Shia and Saudi Sunni for dominance and control, both ushering a grand era of Islamic Sharia to control all those poor lost souls who are the 'slaves of Allah' in the vast Islamic-Crescent from Mali to Indonesia. What will the world do about it? Do they even know? Do they care? ... Future generations of humanity will curse the day of this Islamic Supremacism sending history back 1000 years. Watch.

meant to say ...not to say there is no danger....

Also, Iran is pulling backchannel strings all over the Middle East, and is becoming far more dangerous, as things unfold, to world peace and stability. It is history repeating itself, as always. Have to keep relearning history, you know!

Well said, and yes, Saudi Arabia is the major question remaining. Along with the resolution of the current game in play. Turkey seems to be positioning itself for something dark, according to background reports, like an islamic change, possibly, within its country. All very dark developments in history, again!

I don't belive in god. but from your mouth to god's ears!!!

From what I have been reading in AP, Reuters, NYTimes and the non MB spokespeople and western reporters on Al Jezera the MB is just a part of the protesting coalition in Egypt.

A nobel peace prize winner, Mohamed ElBaradei, who headed the international atomic energy agency, combined secular and religious groups (the MB) to support a call for reforms in election rules to allow more people to be able to run for president -but he's now (jan 27-28) under house arrest.

As of now Obama is making statements on the side of the protestors.

On a purely self indulgant note: Another, non antijihad and non political, site posted pics of protests in tunisia, egypt and lebanon. I mentioned that the MB might be involved and was immediatly sent a private email from a non muslim academic telling me my comment "raised hackles" (my comment only related widely known facts and zero opinions). And someone else told me that using the term "islamic facists of the Muslim Brotherhood" would make me look like "a Pat Buchnanan".

Readers of this site will be pleased to know that I did not curl up into a ball when told (however nicely) to shut up about the MB and threatened with a completely undeserved accusation of racism. I believe I responded quite well so I put a summery here in the hopes some of it will be helpfull if the readers here are told by a libral to shut up about these issues.

-I pointed out that AP, Reuters, The NYTimes and Al Jazeera confirmed that the MB was involved. "So kindly raise your hackles at them."

-I pointed out that criticism of the goals and methods of one specific political group is not the same as a condemnation of eveyone who shares the same faith. - and then had a stroke of genius. To whit:

"If you dissaproved of the Rwandan Genocide, does that mean you are bigoted against everyone of African descent everywhere in the world?" That's a pretty darned good comeback to the Islamophobia/Racism bs.

-I said my knowledge came from statements by security establishment figures and members of the MB leadership.

-because the person didn't like that I mentioned the MB. I made a point of relating their modus aparandi in detail and such historical tidbits as their assistance to hitler in egypt during WWII (try defending them now mush-heads!). It was a bit long but that's what you get when you tell me to shut up!

-I posted a link to a documentary about them made by a muslim that is composed of interviews of other muslims and of the leadership of the MB itself.
1. I did this specifically because that specific vid would be more "paletable" to libral people who've drank the coolade and come to assume anyone who mentions the MB groups is just "a Pat Buchanan" racist against all muslims.
2. Because it was a libral heavy site I made sure to point out that my link to that vid was not a blanket endorsment of all the other vids on that site (it was kitmantv which also has a lot of conservative vids).

I hope these points will be helpfull if you other readers of this site are ever accused unfairly of being something you are not.

Robert is once again absolutely correct! Those who believe or hope these Middle East Tyrants fall shall lead to Democracy are living on Pluto! Just like the Bolsheviks highjacked the 1917 Russian Revolution (and we know where that led), the same shall happen right before our very eyes by the pro-Sharia / Jihads forces where "governments" collapse. Case point - Iran.

And of course President O shall put a spin on it...

To TJFREEDOMJIHAD. Chess originated in India and spread to Persia. The original word for Chess was Chaturangam and in India and S.E.Asia the word for chess is still Chatur. The Arabs stole the Indian number system and it is mistakenly called Arabic numerals. The Muslims also plagiarized from the Torah and the Bible to compile their Quran. I think that will do for now.
