In Human Events this morning I discuss the increasing and outlandish tendency of Islamic supremacists to blame the Zionists for their own jihad attacks:
Did you know that Israeli Mossad agents murdered 22 people and wounded 80 more at the Coptic Christian Church of Saints George and Peter in Alexandria, Egypt, on New Year''s Eve? Neither did I. But all around the Islamic world, that's the story being told -- in yet another instance of Muslim denial of jihadist violence, and displacement of responsibility upon their favorite scapegoat, the Jews.Iran's PressTV, an official organ of the Islamic Republic, claimed in an unsigned editorial that "the fresh plot by terrorists to target churches is an organized Zionist scenario aimed at creating a rift between Muslims and Christians." Lebanese Shi'ite leader Sheikh Abdel Amir Kabalan struck a tone so similar as to give the impression that a set of talking points were being circulated: "This terrorist act bears the fingerprints of Zionists who keep on targeting religious sites and are working to . . . sow discord between Muslims and Christians."
Nor did this paranoid and preposterous claim circulate only among Shi'ites. A Saudi Sheikh, Salman al-Awda, a member of Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi's International Union for Muslim Scholars, made the same assertion about other recent jihad attacks against Christians in the Middle East: "These are tools in the hands of the Zionists, Israelis, Europeans, and Orientals, with the goal of damaging Islam." An Islamic cleric in Egypt itself, Abu Omar (Osama Hasan Mustafa Nasr), added in American involvement, claiming that "Israel's Mossad and the CIA are behind the attack in Alexandria."
Politicians jumped in as well. A political party in Lebanon, the Lebanese Popular Congress, opined that "what happened in Egypt, and what is happening in Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, and Lebanon, and what will happen in other Arab-Islamic countries, is all occurring within the framework of this hellish plot, whose components were carefully crafted in the Zionist-American Greater Middle East project." Former Lebanese Defense Minister Abd-al-Rahim Murad said the attack on the church in Egypt constituted "clear evidence of Zionist-Western attempts to target the national fabric of Egypt."...

This seems bizarre beyond belief to rational Westerners. We have—generally speaking—an objective view of reality. Something either happened or it did not. An action was perpetrated by a certain group of people, or it was not.
Now, the *significance* of the event, or the issues surrounding it, may certainly be open to interpretation—but the facts of the matter are just that—*facts*.
This is not how Muslims and other non-rational people view the world. If something is "good for Islam", then it was carried out by brave, noble Muslims. Hence the claims—many obviously absurd—that Muslims developed great inventions and managed great scientific feats.
And to the contrary—if something is "bad for Islam", it must have been carried out by the enemies of Islam—Great Britain, or the United States, or—especially—the hated "Zionists".
As Ayaan Hirsi Ali chronicles in her book "Infidel", ordinary Saudis treated Jews as all-purpose bogeymen. If the car wouldn't start or the pipes clogged up, it was the fault of the Jews. Even more bizarrely, if your boss was difficult or your wife was lax, that was—*somehow*—the fault of the Jews, as well. Most Saudis had never even seen a Jew, and treated the idea of them almost like Jinn.
As I have often noted, things are often considered—confusingly—both "good" and "bad" for Islam. This is where Islamic cognitive dissonance comes in—where 9/11 can be considered both the work of the glorious Mujahideen Osama bin Laden, because it was a great victory for Islam—and *at the same time* the work of the United States and Mossad, because it has caused problems for Muslims in the form of the "war on terror", increased security, and increased scrutiny of Muslims.
It is just the same with attacks on Christians. Of course, many Muslims are just fine with murdering, oppressing, and cowing Christians in Dar-al-Islam—hence the increasing attacks against them.
At the same time, Muslims like the idea that Christians in the Muslim world at least nominally stand with them against Israel, and they like to maintain the fiction that Muslim societies are "tolerant".
Why is this last important? It is only an issue because Islam is—*not yet*, as they see it—in full ascendancy everywhere on earth. They still want all that Jizya flowing in from Infidel governments, and this might be an embarrassment in that regard.
If attacks on Christians and other Infidels in the Muslim world become pervasive enough, even the willfully clueless West might be forced to acknowledge it, and that might make it a bit sticky for Muslim nations.
Hence, it is still "bad for Islam". And that can only mean one thing—it is the fault of the perfidious Jooooooos, who are only doing it to make Islam "look bad".
It's no islamic fantasy. Muslims can do no wrong. Just ask them! It's all our fault, the Joooos, the Christians, the Atheists, the Hindus, the Europeans, the Americans, the Australians, the secularists, etc, etc.
So many enemies, so little time! That's why muslims are on one side of just about every conflict in the world today. We need to be punished and subjugated. Because Mo said so. And if that ain't the truth I hope lightning

Yea this really makes sense doesn't it? The West and Zionists are trying to put a wedge between the ever loving Jihadist and their fellow Christians. I suppose that it was Zionists, and Westerners that infiltrated the mobs in Pakistan calling for the murder of a lone Christian mother of four. I also suppose that it was the Zionist Mossad that infiltrated the Pakistani governors' guard and planted a computer chip in his head to kill the governor. The funny thing about this is that these crazy imams actually have followers. No wonder they are still living in their 1400 year past.
