Afghanistan: Red Cross worker arrested for converting from Islam to Christianity released from prison

They must have released him because they finally realized that killing someone for leaving Islam was a Misunderstanding of the Religion of Peace.

Actually, this story shows yet again that international pressure and public agitation works.

An update on this story. "Aid Worker Arrested for Being Christian Is Released From Afghanistan Prison," by Diane Macedo for FoxNews.com, February 23 (thanks to AINA):

An Afghan Red Cross worker who was arrested last spring for converting to Christianity has been released from an Afghanistan prison.

The worker, Said Musa, 46, was released from prison last week "after aggressive international diplomacy engaged Afghanistan’s government," International Christian Concern, an organization that worked directly with his case, said in a written statement Thursday.

Musa, who left Islam roughly eight years ago, was arrested in May after an Afghan TV report showed locals being baptized and called for the government to crack down on apostasy.

The father of six who lost a leg to a land mine and was working to help amputees reportedly was abused in prison and threatened with death if he did not renounce his faith.

According to ICC, Musa wrote in a Feb. 13 letter that U.S. and Italian Embassies offered him asylum but that Afghan officials subsequently told him that he would only be released if he wrote a statement declaring that he regretted his conversion to Christianity.

"I refused their demands,” he wrote.

Even so, on Feb. 21 an official from the U.S. Embassy in Kabul told the organization Musa was released and safely out of the country....

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, which advises the federal government on international violations of religious freedom, said Musa's release is a good start in addressing a bigger problem.

“While the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) welcomes Said Musa’s release, the fact that he was in jail demonstrates the serious deficiencies in the Afghan legal system,” USCIRF chair Leonard Leo told FoxNews.com. “The U.S. government and international community need to seriously engage the Karzai government about protecting the religious freedoms of all Afghanis.”

Yeah, that's gonna happen.

That suspected Islamic Trojan Horse and Islamci Nazi Muslim Brotherhood agent, Hussein Obama, speaking up against Islam? It won't happen - this is the guy that wants to leave the suspected nuclear-weapon possessing evil Iranian Mullahs regime alone whilst calling for attack on Libya, make a deal with the Nazi Muslim Brotherhood and financing around 700 million dollars of mosques everywhere! He should be put on trial for treason - he must be held responsible for WW3 when Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood bombed Israel and the Jews in another Holocaust!

Watch your back Musa. The hijackers are everywhere and they may want to cause you harm now that you're out.

I wish Musa a long prosperous life but I'm concerned.

After reading more carefully, Musa is out of Afghanistan so he should be ok.

The real issue is why does an Afghan non-Muslim have to get out of the country in order to have freedom of conscience.

There is another Afghan in prison: Shoaib Assadullah

Please do anything in your power to secure his release, including letters to your representatives.

Actually, this story shows yet again that international pressure and public agitation works.

Don't forget the part about the free taxpayer money for Moslems. They love that.

That's great that he was freed, but what about Shoaib Assadullah, another Afghan in prison for Christianity who was set to be executed the first week of January for not reverting back to islam? I have not been able to find ANY new info about him. Did they kill him?

If anyone has news about him please let me know.

The AP story is actually better. I was surprised to see them lay the blame squarely on the Koran. Perhaps the media will wise up after all:

"Afghanistan is an Islamic state but the country's constitution is unclear on whether Christian converts are breaking the law. The document says freedom of religion should be protected, but it also states that the ultimate authority in legal matters is the Muslim holy book, the Quran, which condemns conversion."

Okay, Katharina. Since you said it:

"That suspected Islamic Trojan Horse and Islamci Nazi Muslim Brotherhood agent, Hussein Obama"

I always raise the question about the credibility of this story (no response yet).

Israeli intelligence expert Avi Lipkin says that before Obama's election, Israeli intelligence picked up chatter among Islamic radicals that they would soon have a Muslim President in the White House.

The teaser for the film carries this ad text: Is Barack Obama Really A Saudi / Muslim "Plant" in the White House?

"Justice" might necessitate some follow-through, as with the Abner Louima case of horrible abuse.

Thank goodness!

Still a shame that he haad to leave his country though.

WOOHOO, chalk one up for the good guys!!

Im glad they were able to save him, but there are so many others we havent / cant save, and are dead or waiting to die.

Yes. And what happens after we leave?

Note: I am *not* suggesting we stay in Afghanistan, wasting our blood and treasure, so that we have some slight effect in getting Afghans to blunt their imposition of barbaric Shari'ah law. I am, however, noting that it will likely be even worse for apostates when they lose even this slight brake to Islamic savagery.

What a brave man Said Musa is.

Thank goodness. I hope Musa is now somewhere in the West—likely the United States, I would guess.

He is still in danger from his savage former coreligionists, but at least he is out of the Islamic hell-hole of Afghanistan. His fellow Afghans are the poorer for it, though—this good man was working with amputees and victims of mines for the Red Cross.

Unfortunately, most Afghans fail to see the repression and state murder of apostates as a "deficiency"—they see it as good Sahri'ah law. And so, there will be more "Said Musas".

We must always have good arguments to show Muslims that Islam is false.

You can do it using the Koran

It says Muhammad was not able to do miracles..... time after time after time, read:

Zilla

you asked about Shoaib.

When the Barnabas Fund people emailed me to let me know the good news about Said Musa, they also had an update on Shoaib.

"While rejoicing in Said's release, Barnabas Fund remains deeply concerned about another Afghan convert to Christianity, Shoaib Assadullah, who remains behind bars facing execution for apostasy and other converts in prison in Afghanistan who have not received international publicity.

"In a letter dated 17 February, he expressed fears that he will "most definitely" be sentenced to death by the court.

"Shoaib has been incarcerated since his arrest last October for giving a New Testament in the national Dari language to another Afghan, who later reported him to the authorities."

The Barnabas Fund communique also had a bit more about Said Musa's answer when he was asked to write a statement declaring he regretted his conversion to Christianity.

"He said:

'I laughed and replied, "I can't deny my Saviour's name".

'Because my life is just service to Jesus Christ and my death is going to heaven [where] Jesus Christ is. I am a hundred percent ready to die. They pushed me much and much. I refused their demands.'

Bless him.

He's switched, totally, from the Muslim concept of 'martyrdom', to 'slay and be slain in the cause of allah', to the Christian concept: to be willing to give up one's life rather than deny one's holy and loving God.

'I can't deny my Saviour's Name'. Personal loyalty to a loving, holy and personal God.

I wonder whether Said and his family will be moving into a little apartment, somewhere near the Vatican, next door to that other Afghan convert to Christianity whom the Italians took in a few years ago?

It would be interesting if Magdi Cristiano Allam were to do an in-depth interview with someone like Said Musa.

Or maybe Father Zakaria Botros will ask Said onto the show - 'Life TV' - to tell his story.

There will be more Said Musas, as there were before. Karzai himself had a hand in wanting Said dealt with before the pressure was put on.

Out of the jaws of death - praise the good Lord! That this poor fellow was in jail for this "crime" in the first place just shows what a worthless black hole Afghanistan is - OUT!
Leave all Muslim Lands to their own sorry fate...and prevent them from coming to the free world to pollute us with their nonsense and intolerance!!

The world needs to realize that conversion to Christianity is different from conversion to Islam. In Christianity, the goal of conversion is to save one's soul from being separated from God (hell is being separated from God and being in what's left - evil) by personal sin. Christians want that relationship with God in heaven for those they love, and the original (not rewritten by Mohammad in the 7th Century after Jesus) Bible says that God wants everyone to turn to him and be saved. However, the Bible also says that evangelizing is being always ready to tell people (when they ask) the reason for a Christian's peace and joy and love and not to be rude or obnoxious about spreading the "good news" about salvation. The Bible also says there is a freedom to choose between death and life and that Christians should just be good examples of their faith, always ready to explain it, and love and pray for those who refuse Christianity.

Conversion to Islam is an unconditional, unquestioning surrender to the principles in the Quran and imitation of the sayings/example of Mohammad in the Sunnah/Haddith. The Quaran itself states the three ways conversion is to be offered: voluntary conversion (to be rewarded with privilege and plunder and impunity for crimes against non-Muslims), acceptance of dhimmitude (subjugated to Muslims, which includes plunder and virtual slavery) until conversion, or conversion by the sword (a choice of convert or be murdered). Once converted, leaving Islam (being apostate) is punishable by death. Trying to convert a Muslim to any other faith is also punishable by death as Sharia law (which merely enforced Islamic principles) claims worldwide jurisdiction over Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Indeed, Mohammad's doctrine of taysir declares that enforcing Sharia law is the obligation of every Muslim unless there are not enough Muslims/Muslims in power to enforce Sharia, and then only until there are enough.

Yup, the bigger problem is that he was arrested in the first place, and he had to flee his own country. His families? If anyone is left behind, he or she would be in danger.

The U.S. was so quick to "resolve" this one man's ordeal in leaving Islam in Afghanistan in order to hush the questionable outcome for which U.S. troops are being killed off there (besides the global jihad weakening U.S. defenses), which is the putting in place of an Islamic democracy ruled by Sharia law. Under Sharia law, which merely enforced Islamic principles, to convert from Islam is the Islamic crime of apostasy which is punishable by death.

In the East-End of Toronto we had a Pro-taliban mulsim population from Afghanistan, many cried racism when the Bhuda statues to bombed by the Taliban and local canadians protested by no longer shopping at their businesses.
But then came the 9/11/01 mass slaughter of civilains and the 24 Canadians among them, suddenly these pro-Taliban Muslims were canadians that had noting to do with 9/11 or the Taliban.
The MSM did rush to report the alleged racism and Islamophobia but those pesky non-Muslim Canadians agaisnt the Bhuda faith being attacked, but after 9/11 the MSM would not go near exposing these Al-Qaeda friendly enemies among us that went mute over the 24 canadian slaughtered by terrorists acting on the commands by Muhammed in the Quran.
Funny how Afgahnistan can be 99.5% Muslims, and yet nobody
wants to link islam or Muslims to terrorism by Muslims inside that nation. Even the Iraq suicide-bombers from both Sects of islam bombing each others Mosques are rarely reported with a hint of ties to islam or doing it because they are Muslims.
I doubt this Global carnage inspired by the Quran and Muhammed will be able to continue as we see more video evidence on the news and youtube evidence day after day with the same A-Allah Akbar chants before the slaughters.
5'500'000'000 non-Muslims are fed-up with living under the threat of being murdered for Allah's peaceful cause
"To Serve man" under a caliphate.

The 7th century was over long ago, someone tell the Imam's and CAIR that pedophilia is a Crime in the West and that gay people should not expect to be killed in public
by the Shariah Police on our soil.
