I feel sorry for Bangladeshis. Over 80% of Bangladesh is Muslim. What few of them know is that NO ONE, least those who know the truth about Islam, would EVER join Islam willingly. Hena Begum was a rape victim. She was raped by her cousin, then beaten by his family, then murdered by the village clerics.

This 14-year-old girl was murdered under the laws of Islam for *being a rape victim*. A thousand miles away in Somalia, a 13-year-old girl was stoned to death for being a victim of gang rape.

A year and a half ago a 15-year-old girl was gang raped after a school dance in Richmond, California. She was assaulted by a large group, and there were many more who watched. No one called the police or tried to help the girl.

When she was finally rescued, police rushed her to the hospital. There has been a big manhunt to find her attackers.

There had been a huge amount of soul-searching over what sort of society we have become where such a thing could happen. There has been criticism that there was not enough security at the dance. The Richmond police have come under fire for not having more patrols around an event such as this. There have been proposals to increase the size of the Richmond police force, which is severely understaffed.

Two weeks ago, the Richmond school district settled with the girl for $4 million.

The name of the girl has been scrupulously withheld by the police and the press to protect her identity. People have weighed in in support of the girl from all over the country, and hundreds of people have sent in to a college fund set up in her name. There was *never* any question of *punishing the victim*.

This story has become national news. I imagine many here will have heard of the case. The reactions to such a terrible crime—notable here in the West for the very reason that it is—thankfully—so rare, and the reaction under barbaric Shari'ah law.
