Except he doesn't, he says. But in any case, somehow these assailants got the crazy idea that Islam forbids non-Muslims to proselytize among Muslims. Expect Honest Ibe Hooper, Boy Reza Aslan, and Brave Ahmed Rehab to jet over to Gaza forthwith, and to explain to them that Islam teaches tolerance.
Marisol commented on this story here, but I thought I'd remark on the cognitive dissonance between this (and so many other stories like it in the Islamic world) and what Islamic spokesmen in the West tell gullible non-Muslim audiences about Islam. "Gaza assailants plant bomb under Christian car: Dr. Maher Ayyad say received text messages to halt evangelical work or face harsh punishment," from the Associated Press, February 27 (thanks to Kevin):
A prominent Christian surgeon in the Gaza Strip said assailants threw a bomb at his vehicle and sent him threatening messages.Dr. Maher Ayyad, 55, says no one was hurt in Friday's bombing, though the explosion damaged his brother's vehicle.
He said Sunday that after the blast, he received text messages to halt evangelical work or face harsh punishment. Ayyad says he does not preach his faith....
Such are Muslim sociopaths created by Islam, an evil Arabic cult, of extreme savagery and conquest as created by the Arabic Pedophile rapist, robber, slave-owner (including sexual slaves such as young Jewish captive girls), and mass murderer of the Jews, Mohammed, in order to construct pure Arabian kingdom and legitimize his and his tribe’s evil Arabic socio-cultural practises!
St. Francis of Assisi said: "Preach the Gospel always; use words if you must." He IS evangelizing if he is being a good physician, diligent and compassionate in serving the needy and the suffering ones. So I would submit it is his (Christian) behavior which silently shames these islamo-fanatics.
It seems that this Christian doctor should cross the border into Israel - even if that means swallowing his pride. At least he'll be much better thought of there. These savages losss should be Israel's gain.

*Exactly*, Beve. Dr. Maher Ayyad is seen as "preaching his faith" by his mere existence.
I fervently hope he keeps safe. The only way may be for him to get out of Gaza with his family.
This would be to the great loss of his Muslim patients, of course—not that the Jihadists trying to kill him care one whit about that.
Obviously this wretched Xian is preaching by example, doing good to his neighbors and so forth. What could be more insidious? These poor innocent Muslims see the contrast between him and their fellow Muslims and get the perverted idea that Xianity promotes good works, as a certain other religion promotes amputations, daughter-murders, and forced sexual relations with young ladies in the single digit.
this is an excellent example of the light of Christ in a person vs the darkness of Islam. Dr Ayyad is an example of his master Jesus and the attackers are following the example of Mohammed and his master, the devil.
"Although I walk though the valley of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me."
It's sad, but that's the way it works. Christianity will prevail and Christian blood is the price. Islam is dying no matter what. Check out these statistics provided by a muslim sheikh on a muslim TV channel.

Whatever next, the cheek of it !
A Christian believing in Christianity.
No wonder they wanted to kill him.
Scum.
sharing the love
i keep cracking up at your "well read man" comment robert. i always laugh at that pic for the same reason..
i love your suggestion to the 3 stooges as well. send a film crew to cover this historic event.
My prayers are going up for my brother Ayyad. All Christians need to live their lives as brother Ayyad is, I pray he remembers what our Lord Jesus Christ said " Remember, if they hate you, they hated Me first". Be strong my brother! But to my brothers and sisters on this site remember, he cannot proselytize in Isreal either. There is persecution of Christians, especially Messianic Jews in Isreal. Pray for Isreal!

This is crazness. The article and the news says that the man is NOT calling or preaching his relegion at all. He is a very normal person living in Gaza pecafully same as other millions who live in Gaza. This group of Assialants are Odd. They are crazy. They are not on the right track of Islam. I hope they will get back to the right track as soon as possible and asks for Gods Mercy.

I presume you are Muslim, Ali. Assuming you are writing in earnest, I suppose that you do not realize that many of your coreligionists have *exactly* this attitude toward Infidels.
You can find stories like this not just out of Gaza, but out of Egypt, and Pakistan, and Afghanistan, and Iraq, and Indonesia, and many other places, where Infidels are targeted for violence on the pretext of their proselytizing.
This supposes two things—firstly, that Infidels are not allowed to peacefully preach their faith in Muslim-majority countries. Secondly, it assumes that all Infidels, by their very existence, present a threat that Muslims might convert to their faiths.
I hope you take some time and look around this site—or Faith Freedom, or many others—and see that the profoundly disturbing case above is hardly unique.
I assume that the comment stated against my oponion is from the page web admin. I understnad that YOU are against such disturbing case and non-sense thinking. These thoughts are against the beloved Islam. These ideas damage our reputaion. I would urge that every thoughtfl muslim to make every possible awareness to counter such mislead thoughts.

Nope, just a concerned poster.

Alas, such things are *hardly* "against the beloved Islam", but are all too often entirely a piece with it.
Also, you might spare a thought that such acts of terror do not merely damage the reputation of Islam, but also the lives of the Infidel victims.
On the other hand, if you really do intend to spend your time countering the ugly actions of your coreligionists—and not just attempting to convince credulous Kaffirs that such things are not a part of Islam—then I heartily applaud you.
