Yes, and virtually of our knowledge of ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Assyria, et al, comes from modern (19th and 20th c) Western researchers and archaeologists; the Moslems, as you say, were not at all interested.

About Hannity and Beck: Both of the read the scripts that are given to them. What we see on air is the subject matter modulated by their personalities.
Both of them are tilting in the right direction, and are the only two on air personalities within the major networks, with their own shows, who are addressing issues of Islam. Of the two, I would rate Beck as being the brighter and more sympathetic of the two. I would prefer if they would refrain from Christian proselytizing that they seem unable to resist sneaking into their commentaries; the case against Islam can be made on purely secular grounds. But I suspect polls have shown that its a positive resonance with more people within the conservative base than it is a negative dissonance, so that's why it's put in.

When I read that message on the FOX news scroll, I didn't see the word "Muslim" so I read it as they were saying "peace to all nations." Didn't believe it, but with this other word in the phrase, it makes more sense why they would say it.

Hannity read all of Choudary's interviews to prepare to have him on the show, so I know he's getting an education.
