I agree that this should be pursued, but one thing that gets me - if the person was writing this @ an internet cafe - particularly one that dynamically shuffles IP addresses, he'd be untracable. Next is e-mail addresses, but it's just too easy to produce fake e-mail addresses as well.

FWIW, even if the death threat is sent via email from an Internet Cafe using an anonymous or fictitious account in one of the public email services, such as gmail or Yahoo or hotmail, there will still be a trail, if nothing else to the Internet cafe where it originated. Uncovering who this slime is is just the kind of challenge enterprising network geeks ought to find appealing. It might be difficult to get Google or Yahoo or Microsoft to retrieve the required information from their records, but the effort should be made nevertheless.

Would writing an open letter (in a mainstream newspaper) to the chief honcho of intelligence help? He cannot ignore documented proof of numerous threats with the IP adresses. He would be forced to take notice and would have to file an 'action taken report'.

I suspect that the Feds are on the case. Police don't report what they are up to when they are up to something. Also, consider this: These threats against Robert are a gold mine of information regarding jihadists. And one jihadi jerk leads to another and another.
