SAN DIEGO -- A taxi cab driver plowed slowly into a crowd on a sidewalk in San Diego's busy Gaslamp District early Saturday, injuring more than two dozen people, police said.The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the crash occurred about 2 a.m. in the middle of the popular restaurant and nightclub zone, close to the city's convention center....
The driver's name was not released right away (why not?); he turned out to be Sam Hassan Daly, a 52-year-old Muslim.
There have been several other suspicious incidents involving Muslim drivers over the last few years. Mohammed Reza Taheri-Azar explicitly grounded his hit-and-run in the teachings of the Koran. Munir Muthana told the police who arrested him that "the Muslims will fix this country." Omeed Aziz Popal, we were told, was suffering from stress from an arranged marriage. Ismail Yassin Mohamed, we were informed, was mentally ill, suffered from depression, and hadn't being taking his medication. And Muhammad Teshale, according to "law enforcement officials," "did it to be famous."
Coincidence or jihad? Certainly there are a lot of hit-and-run and incidents involving people hit by cars that have nothing to do with Muslims, but in the cases listed here there is a degree of intentionality in these that we do not usually see.
And in this present case, Sam Hassan Daly is described as "devoutly Muslim," and we're told that he told police that he blacked out shortly before he drove his cab into the crowd, and that he may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Authorities don't think that he did it intentionally.
And yet "some victims don't believe it was an accident," and bystanders were so enraged when it first happened that they dragged Daly out of his cab and started kicking and punching him -- not behavior one usually sees after an accident. Daly, for his part, came out of the cab clutching a pair of scissors, and apparently tried to attack the club manager with them -- again, not behavior one usually associates with someone who has just caused a terrible accident and is contrite and horrified.
So has Sam Hassan Daly just committed an act of jihad against the immoral kuffar revelers at the nightclub? We may never know from mainstream media reports, although more clues may emerge in the coming days. In any case, there are some indications already that that may have been what happened, and certainly numerous precedents.

Being prepared to attack pedestrians with a knife is not the behavior of someone who has just awakened after falling asleep at the wheel, accident resulting. Confusion and disorientation would be much more likely. (Unfortunately, that's first-hand knowledge, though the only damage done was to me and a phone tree.) Do most cabbies in San Diego drive around one-handed while clutching scissors in the other?
The relative slow motion might indicate asleep at the wheel, or might have been a hedge against prosecution. Should be interesting to see how this develops.

Taxi Cab Driver In Stingaree Crash Identified
"According to traffic court records obtained by 10News, Daly received a traffic ticket just two weeks before Saturday's crash.
"Records showed on February 1, Daly's Emerald cab was pulled over for making an unsafe lane change.
"In September 2010, Daly was ticketed twice by police -- once for rolling through a stop sign in his taxi, and the other for a pedicab violation for picking up a fare in traffic.
"In 2009, he had two violations in his taxi for impeding traffic and for driving at an unsafe speed.
"This is someone that probably shouldn't have been behind the wheel of a taxi, at least not in this country," said Kevin Thom, who was injured in a crash caused by Daly in 2005.
'Court documents showed Daly's cab rear-ended a Mustang with 4 people inside.

'Dan Rose says he has been living with Sam Hassan Daly for the last two months. Rose says, "he's a pretty solitary man kind of a recluse I guess you would call it."
'Rose says things have gotten progressively worse since he moved in.
"It's been a very uncomfortable situation living here the last couple months."...
'**Rose said he feared the 52-year-old Egyptian born cab driver.** {my emphasis - dda}.
"Just very irrational behavior, um I don't know if it was necessarily a terroristic type thing or maybe he's just imbalanced."
'Rose said Daly called him names and confronted him for bringing a date home.
{Yeah: 'commanding right and forbidding wrong' --- and, typically Muslim, poking his long nose into other people's business - dda}.
'**The confrontation scared him [Rose] so much, he began to carry a knife with him in the house.** {my emphasis - dda. Doesn't sound like the response of someone who is living with 'a good man' or a 'responsible person'...}.
' Rose says, "the reaction he had towards me kind of made me a little scared so I carry one with me even in my home when I'd go to the bathroom."
'Rose says Daly gave him his move out notice last Friday. That the home is in foreclosure and Daly was leaving the country and heading back to Egypt.
'The home is stark. Rose says, "he doesn't have any pictures or anything on the walls, pretty bare house pretty bare house pretty bare minimum."
Now that *is* creepy. And - no pictures. We know why. Sharia forbids the artistic representation of living beings. This guy might have been clean shaven, but he sounds like a full-on sharia-minded Muslim. Jihad waiting to happen.
My other observations are to do with the nature of the response of the non-Muslims on the spot.
First of all, the sheer breadth and depth of human talent you find in a semi-random crowd in a large Western city.
The worst-injured person was saved by the fact that right on hand were people who knew what to do for her: one with EMT training and another a security guard who is a former Marine.
These guys swung straight into action.
Here's one of them, Paul Jimenez, who was himself hit by the cab, but not badly hurt.
'Jimenez said he was outside the club when the taxi came right at him with no warning at all.
"I'm on my phone, my back to the intersection. All of a sudden, I hear 'thump thump thump.' My eyes close, I come to and I'm on the hood," he said.
'Police confirmed Daly was the only person in the cab and that he stopped at the stop sign on the corner before driving about 15 miles per hour into the crowd.
' Jimenez landed on the taxi and suffered only bruising to his legs and hand.
'** He was trained as an EMT and immediately started helping the victims.** {my emphasis - dda}.
And here's the other guy:
'Chad Starkey, one of Stingaree's security guards, took off his necktie and used it as a tourniquet on the woman whose leg was mostly severed.
"The biggest thing on my mind was to stop the bleeding,' said Starkey, **a 25-year-old former Marine.** {my emphasis - dda. God bless the US Marines!}
**"The (Marine) training goes into play. I was just reacting to the situation. Just doing my job.' ** {my emphasis - dda}.
And here's another guy:
"One off-duty military paramedic who had been at a nearby nightclub told the Union-Tribune the scene was initially chaos, with people screaming and yelling.
He said he went to the aid of three of the injured who were lying in the street and assisted them until paramedics soon arrived."
My second observation? I think that some sort of awareness - perhaps not yet entirely conscious - of what Islam and Muslims are *really* all about (that is, Up To No Good) is more widespread in the general population than is currently apparent.
I am not surprised that the crowd pounced on the cab driver and roughed him up. I suspect they were 'reading' him; that he set off their alarm bells. I think they acted without necessarily knowing quite why; but that their instincts were correct.
Take another look at the guy's mug shot. Then think of the crowd, after the incident, seeing *that* face through the cab window.

Actually if you read the whole of what he wrote, no where in there does Mr.Spencer declare that this man was obeying the koran. He points out that there are many things that this man has in common with those that have killed in the name of the moon god. He poses questions, nothing more.
And...here in the US one has the right to "comentate" on pretty much any subject or about pretty much any one. You should familiarize yourself with the Constitution. It's the document that most muslims want to see replaced with sharia law. Would that suit you?

CBS correspondent Lara Logan is recovering in a U.S. hospital after being beaten and sexually assaulted by a Cairo mob in the frenzied aftermath of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's resignation Friday, the network disclosed Tuesday.
Logan, 39, was reporting from Cairo's Tahrir Square when her film crew was surrounded by more than 200 people "whipped into a frenzy," CBS said. After she was separated from her crew, she was assaulted before she was rescued by a group of women and Egyptian soldiers, CBS said.
The network did not disclose Logan's injuries but said in a written statement that she had suffered a "brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating." After Logan reconnected with her crew, they returned to their hotel and flew to the U.S. on Saturday morning, the statement said.
CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric disclosed the assault to viewers Tuesday night. "We're pleased to report she's recovering well in the hospital," Couric said.
The attack was among more than 140 against journalists covering Egypt's political upheaval, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. Most occurred before Mubarak quit.
Egyptian women say they are frequently yelled at and touched by groups of men in the streets, but that during the anti-government protests, such behavior was less prevalent. "Men and women ... everyone was coming together, and I personally didn't experience any sexual harassment, which was extremely unusual," said Yasmine Khalifa, a 25-year-old Cairo teacher.
The mood shifted Friday night, Khalifa said, when thousands of men who had not been part of the protests entered Tahrir Square. Several women reported being harassed, she said.
Logan, who has two children with husband Joseph Burkett, is no stranger to violence. The South Africa native, CBS' chief foreign correspondent since February 2006, has reported from war zones since the early 1990s.
She reported earlier that the military prevented her crew from filming in Alexandria and marched them back to their hotel at gunpoint. "It was a very frightening experience," Logan said.

As for Muslim drivers, there was also the beburka'd school bus driver right here in Alberta a few years ago, who sideswiped a dump truck stopped on the shoulder, and killed a little girl. While some news reports were suspicious of the burka interfering with her sight, I believe she did it fully deliberately, and was hoping to kill the entire busload of kids - but wasn't a good enough driver to pull off such a stunt.

When I heard this reported, the first thought that came to minds was, "I bet the cab driver was a Muslim." The report reminded me of the Iranian student in Florida a few years ago who did the same thing. The the fact that the news didn't report the driver's name made me suspicious that the cab driver was either a Muslim or an illegal alien.

I remember wondering at the time, since these were "refugees" from Pakistan and Bangladesh, why they didn't head for some place closer and more simpatico like Malaysia or Indonesia; or any of the Persian Gulf atates in the other direction. The 'acclaimed scholar' makes over $100k for simply sitting on his ass, scouring the net for obscure stories of Muslims doing something bad (apparently chanting 'there's no god but God' fits that bill as well). Just for the record, I'm not here to 'defend' Islam and nor have I ever claimed as such. Not because its indefensible (although you can keep telling yourself that), but because there really is no point in doing so to people who are quite ardent in their views of Islam (read: bigoted), and whose knowledge of it does not extend beyond what they read on polemicist websites (kind of like this one). And especially not to someone who still finds toilet humor to be funny (or even insulting for that matter).
You can rationalize the definition of ad hominem (by plagiarizing somebody else's e-rant no less) all you want, but you never even tried to address my original argument (which in case you want a reminder, is challenging the blatant hypocrisy our 'acclaimed scholar' displays by posting this article without even the slightest disclaimer of 'hey you know, not all Muslim cab drivers are like him'). The point is that ISLAM commands SUBMISSION, and this includes FORCED submission of non-believers. If you can't honestly show how we are wrong in that belief, then you are right that you are wasting your time, but that's not because of bigotry.
