In FrontPage this morning I offer some background on the Muslim Brotherhood:
Game over: Barack Obama has endorsed a role for the Muslim Brotherhood in a new, post-Mubarak government for Egypt. This should come as no surprise. Obama has behaved consistently all along, from his refusal to back the protesters in Iran, who were demonstrating against an Islamic Republic, to his backing of these protesters in Egypt, to whom he has just given a green light to establish a government that, given numerous historical precedents, will likely be the precursor to an Islamic Republic.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Monday that a post-Mubarak Egyptian ruling group "has to include a whole host of important nonsecular actors that give Egypt a strong chance to continue to be [a] stable and reliable partner."
Robert Malley, an Obama adviser and Mideast negotiator for Bill Clinton, explained that Obama's expression of willingness to see the Brotherhood as part of a ruling coalition in Egypt was a "pretty clear sign that the U.S. isn't going to advocate a narrow form of pluralism, but a broad one."
In The Post-American Presidency, Pamela Geller and I profile Robert Malley, Samantha Power, and other fierce foes of Israel in the Obama Administration. In light of the information we reveal in the book, the Administration's stance toward the Muslim Brotherhood comes as no surprise. But the ideology and goals of the Muslim Brotherhood will come as a surprise to most Americans, especially now that the mainstream media is retailing numerous soothing falsehoods about the group. Thus they warrant a closer look.
Contrary to claims that it is a moderate organization, the Muslim Brotherhood is actually the prototypical Islamic supremacist, pro-Sharia group of the modern age. Founded by Hasan al-Banna in Egypt in 1928, the Brotherhood emerged as a response to colonialism and Western influence in the Islamic world. Al-Banna wrote that "a wave of dissolution which undermined all firm beliefs was engulfing Egypt in the name of intellectual emancipation. This trend attacked the morals, deeds and virtues under the pretext of personal freedom. Nothing could stand against this powerful and tyrannical stream of disbelief and permissiveness that was sweeping our country." His remedy? Restoration of Islamic law as the ruling principle of governance.
Al-Banna consequently decried Kemal Ataturk's abolition of the Caliphate in secular Turkey, which he complained separated "the state from religion in a country which was until recently the site of the Commander of the Faithful." Al-Banna characterized it as just part of a larger "Western invasion which was armed and equipped with all [the] destructive influences of money, wealth, prestige, ostentation, power and means of propaganda."[1]
Al-Banna's Brotherhood had a deeply spiritual character from its beginning, but it didn't combat the "Western invasion" with just words and prayers. In a 1928 article al-Banna decried the complacency of the Egyptian elite: "What catastrophe has befallen the souls of the reformers and the spirit of the leaders?...What calamity has made them prefer this life to the thereafter [sic]? What has made them...consider the way of struggle [sabil al-jihad] too rough and difficult?"[2] When the Brotherhood was criticized for being a political group in the guise of a religious one, al-Banna met the challenge head-on:
We summon you to Islam, the teachings of Islam, the laws of Islam and the guidance of Islam, and if this smacks of "politics" in your eyes, then it is our policy. And if the one summoning you to these principles is a "politician," then we are the most respectable of men, God be praised, in politics . . . Islam does have a policy embracing the happiness of this world. . . . We believe that Islam is an all-embracing concept which regulates every aspect of life, adjudicating on every one of its concerns and prescribing for it a solid and rigorous order.[3]...

Forget Mubarak's September timetable. He'll be out in weeks if not days.
How can anyone hope to have 'give and take' with a religious group that have laws that tell you which foot to enter the bathroom with?
'Compromise' is not part of the vocabulary of control freaks like the Brotherhood. Islam does not recognize anything 'other'.
Since aiding and giving comfort to the enemy is treason, and The MB have identified themselves as the enemy of kufr, especially Israeli/Jewish kufr, Christian kufr, American kufr, and kufr in general...They have after all been instructed by Allah to fight kufr until the world belongs to Allah only...Quran 8:39/2:193 for starters...It has been well publicized (on the net) that the MB in the US was having a 'grand jihad to destroy America from within'...And now we have Rasulullahhaha Obamaman giving aid and comfort to this enemy...That should be enough to bring him up on charges, if not by a responsible official, then the public...
If egypt without mubarak, same as Israel without border. But, egypt with mubarak, same as USA with very big problem. Obama will choose what? Obama its POTUS!
Jimmah Carter used to say that categorizing Hamas as a terrorist organization was wrong because they were moderates.
What scares me the most is that around 50% of the american people continue to approve of Obama. How can this be?
Obama will probably win re-election as long as the economy improves. Most people have no clue about Islam, just an inkling.
I just hope that the Egyptian military asserts itself - it's the only bulwark against the MB right now.
It's well known that the ultimate aim of the Muslim Brotherhood is to take over the world. B.O. has just got to be in on it.
"What scares me the most is that around 50% of the american people continue to approve of Obama. How can this be?"
Have you ever gone on to various newspapers online and read comments by PC Liberals?
That's how.
Until the 'net I never realized that so many Americans were stupid and ignorant.
I know what you are talking about, I just still cant believe how stupid half of the american population is. We are rapidly sinking into the abyss.
Robert Spencer: “Al-Banna consequently decried Kemal Ataturk's abolition of the Caliphate in secular Turkey, which he complained separated "the state from religion in a country which was until recently the site of the Commander of the Faithful." Al-Banna characterized it as just part of a larger "Western invasion which was armed and equipped with all [the] destructive influences of money, wealth, prestige, ostentation, power and means of propaganda."
The Muslim Brotherhood is the Mother of all Islamism and terrorism. Islamism is not just orthodox Islam with emphasis on the political implications of Islam. Elements, strategies and the grievances which gave rise to Leninism and Nazism are added making Islamism a deadly and violent cocktail and a conquering force with a strong appeal to Muslims in general.
“... A narrative of grievance and potential recovery exists throughout the Muslim world, but particularly among the Islamists, who are still in a state of shock over the abolition of the caliphate by Kemal Ataturk in 1924. With the collapse of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I, the caliphate was but a shell of itself. Nevertheless, its abandonment left some Muslims completely adrift. It was as if the Vatican had abjured its authority to represent the Church. Ho could the end of the caliphate be explained?
Its abolition called onto existence the first Islamist organizations such as the Muslim Brotherhood, the “al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun”, dedicated to its restoration. While most Muslims may not share in the Islamist mythology regarding the caliphate, which did not exist continuously from the time of Muhammad, they nonetheless do require an explanation for the decline of their civilization.
A somewhat similar situation existed in Germany after World War I, which Adolf Hitler was able to exploit with the Nazi Party. In fact, there are striking parallels to this sense of grievance that can be found in Mein Kampf. The comparison id not adventitious. There were associations between the Nazis and the early Islamists going back to the 1930s, when Hassan al-Banna, the founder of the Ikhwan, modeled the Muslim Brotherhood on the Brownshirts.
The German sense of grievance came from the defeat in World War I and the metaphysical shock of the collapse of the Second Reich. This loss was inconceivable to them. The world had somehow been turned upside down. To comprehend the loss, Hitler and his companions explained it in terms of first the internal enemy and then the external enemy. Germany was stabbed in the back. Where was the rot in German society from which this betrayal came? The racist Nazi answer was the Jew. Germany must expunge the Jew and purify itself for the battle against the external enemy in order to bring about the millenarian vision of the Third Reich and the supremacy of the Aryan race.
Similarly, Islamists try to focus the widely shared sense of grievance and humiliation in the Muslim world on the loss of the caliphate because they wish to restore it. Their explanation for the decline of their civilization is, as indicated above, a loss of faith. The solution to this problem is obviously not imitating the West, but restoring Muslim faith to a pristine condition, as defined by them. They, too, began looking for the internal enemy and then the external enemy. Osama bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, gives typical expression to this formulation in describing “the apostate domestic enemy and the Jewish-crusader external enemy.” It is here, at the heart of the effort to restore past glory, that the questions asked in the introduction reappear.
Are the Islamists of today something new or a resurgence of something from the past? How much of this is Islam and how much is Islamism? If so, in what way and from where has it come? And why is Islam susceptible to this kind of deformation?
… Islamist authors cannot be accurately understood in the terms of Islam simply, but only within the perspective of the twentieth-century Western ideologies that they have assimilated, most especially those based on Nietzsche and Marx. (We shall shortly see how thorough the assimilation was). The seminal thinkers in Islamism, like Sayyid Qutb in Egypt, were very well versed in Western philosophy and literature.
Qutb went to the United States for two years of postgraduate studies (1949-50). He was completely repelled by what he saw as a materialist culture. For example, he thought that the way Americans cared for their lawns was a sign of materialism and that the parish dances he witnessed were examples of sexual degeneracy. His exposure to the West intensified his hatred of it. The solution to what he diagnosed as Western alienation was Islam. Islam could overcome the relativism and the moral degeneracy that he had observed. Islam could save the West as well as the East.
In order to do this, Qutb said that Muslims must emulate the behavior of the Companions of the Prophet to prepare for the struggle ahead. But he used Leninist terms and means, espousing a “vanguard” of the faithful which would lead the restoration of the caliphate. (In fact, Qutb, though he despised Marxism, was the Muslim Brotherhood's liaison to the Communist Party in Egypt and to the Communist International). Because of his opposition to the Egyptian government, Qutb was hanged by Nasser in 1966. He is said to have gone to the gallows smiling, leaving that iconic image to inspire hi followers today.
… Qutb blamed the Jews in Istanbul for conspiring in the collapse of the caliphate (“The Jews have always been the prime movers in the war declared on all fronts against the advocates of Islamic revival throughout the world”), and labeled impious Muslims as the internal enemy, who must be vanquished so that the infidel West could be confronted and overcome. This much of the program can be understood from Islam alone, without any contamination by Western ideology.
The rest of the appeal stems from the result of the ancient struggle within Islam over the primacy of power versus the primacy of reason, which has been the subject of this book. As we have seen, the outcome of this contest decisively affected that character of the Islamic world in which Qutb could find such a ready audience for his ideology. The infection of Western millenarian ideological thought from Nietzsche and Marx would not have made Islamism the attraction it is unless Islamism was not also able to claim legitimacy by drawing upon something within the traditions of Islam itself. For this, Islamist (*) thinkers selectively chose one, albeit a primary one, of the many theological and philosophical traditions within Islam's rich history. The nexus between this school of thought and Western totalitarian ideology was the primacy of will. … ”
* Islamism is used here as a form of shorthand for Muslim totalitarian ideology. It is in some ways an unsatisfactory term, as there are selfproclaimed Islamists who would not subscribe to this meaning of the term. However, it is useful to designate the transmogrification of Islam into an ideology.
(Quoted from “The Closing of the Muslim Mind” (2010) by Robert R. Reilly, Chapter 8: “The Sources of Islamism”).
People where I live say the President of Egypt is the dumdest person on this planet. He could leave Egypt while still alive as they they may killed him the next day.
As sympathetic as one might be toward the many Egyptians who desire real democracy & positive change, one has to be rooting for the Egyptian militarily (which, with Mubarak, has a lot of support in Egypt) to hold things until some real elections occur without Muslim Brotherhood participation (hopefully because they have been locked up).
The Obamanation is IMO a stealth Muslim supporter of the MB and has to go in 2012. I think he should retire to live in some nice Muslim community in Indonesia where he belongs, where I suspect he'd pray to Allah for a world caliphate that will redistribute the world's wealth.
Obama's secret meetings with the Muslim Brotherhood is clearly treason against the American people, and our Constitutional Republic. If you understand that this organisation has openly called for the destruction of our Constitution, and is actively pursuing this goal inside and outside the US, it is clear Obama is a traitor. The House of Reps should begin impeachment proceedings, and convict him of treason.
I can not believe Obama has done this, and the media is supporting him ... we have been penetrated more deeply by this invasion than I could have imagined. I'm actually listening to our government run media outlets about the virtues of the Muslim Brotherhood ... I'm in shock.
There is no treason greater than aiding and abetting a religious tyranny to befoul our nation!!
Someday there will be Hell to pay, how could our government aid and abet this?
"It is the primary right of men to die and kill for the land they live in, and to punish with exceptional severity all members of their own race who have warmed their hands at the invader's hearth." Churchill
When and if Americans take to the streets like Egyptians have, we are going to kick your treasonous asses ... :-). and our military will probably help us against all of you because they are sworn to defend against all the enemies of our Constitution foreign, and DOMESTIC ... yes that is you Obama... increasingly it looks like it is you Obama.
Who says its a moment? Is Obama more than a fellow traveler? IS he a member?
"The Muslim Brotherhood is a global movement whose members cooperate with each other throughout the world, based on the same religious worldview--the spread of Islam until it rules the world...(they are) an all-encompassing Islamic organization, calling to the adoption of the great religion that Allah gave in his mercy to humanity..all the members of the Muslim Brotherhood in the international arena operate according to the written charter that states that Jihad is the only way to achieve these goals...ours is the largest organization in the world."
---Muhammad Mahdi 'Akef, Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood Asharq Alawsat, London 11/11/05
(The United States is) "a satan that abuses the religion. I expect America to collapse soon. I have complete faith that Islam will invade Europe and America." (Akef, Memri 2/4/2004).
People where I live say the President of Egypt is the dumdest person on this planet.
They're wrong! You are.
BBC News have been showing Breaking News from Egypt almost non-stop for days now, and I put in some lengthy sessions now and then.
I have listened for the words "Muslim Brotherhood" and they are mentioned extremely rarely, and then almost always introduced by Egyptians who are in a hurry to explain that the Brotherhood will have little to say once Real Democracy is introduced.
It falls nicely in line with the "experts" on Danish TV who vehemently are arguing against any supposed Brotherhood influence. to the point they are looking offended that such an outcome is even possible.
Notice the split in the conservative camp. Many of those who supported Bush -- and his policy of implanting democracy in the Muslim world -- support Barack Hussein Obama and his policies.
"Egypt protests show George W. Bush was right about freedom in the Arab world" by Elliott Abrams
Washington Post, Friday, January 28, 2011; 4:00 PM
Politico:
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the only top-tier candidate to come out in support of President Barack Obama’s handling of the situation, asserted Tuesday that Mubarak should step down. And he came closest to expressing support for Obama’s approach, a position that put him at risk with a conservative base that is deeply antagonistic toward the president.
"I think what the United States has to do is make it very clear to the people of Egypt that we stand with the voices of democracy and freedom and we also have to communicate — I think as the administration has,” he said on ABC’s "Good Morning America."
..... “I think his time is going to come to an end,” Pawlenty told a scrum of reporters accompanying his book tour in Iowa. “It should come to an end. But as that vacuum gets filled, we want to do all we can to make sure it gets filled by institutions and people and leaders that share our principles, and values of freedom and democracy and human rights.”
A Pawlenty aide said Tuesday afternoon that he thinks it’s premature to say whether U.S. aid should be cut now because the situation is so fluid that it’s unclear who will lead Egypt after the election.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, traveling to Israel this week, blasted the Obama administration for throwing Mubarak under the bus after he had been a reliable ally for 30 years. He expressed concern about a domino effect across the Middle East if Egypt falls into the hands of extremists, which he warned could threaten Israel.
"I don’t think anybody is trying to defend everything that he did as president, but they would have liked to have seen at least an acknowledgment that he’s been a friend for all these years," Huckabee said Tuesday morning on Fox News.
"So the concern is that if the U.S. will so quickly turn on that friend, how quickly will it turn on its other friends? And that’s the sentiment shared by not only the Israelis, but by the members of the European parliament from several European countries with whom I spoke this morning.”

Obama’s Latest Statement (according to) National Review Online: "Now That Mubarak's Reign Appears Doomed, Obama Tells Him to Leave (NOW!)
John Podhoretz - 02.01.2011 - 6:50 PM
"First impression: He got the tone exactly right, after days of getting it wrong."
Good grief!
"Backlash against Protests gathers pace"
Clashes with supporters of Mubarak. Don't count him out as yet.
Cameron "If it turns out that the regime in any way has sponsored or tolerated this violence, that is completely unacceptable,"
You idiot! It is acceptable for the demonstrators to loot and burn buildings? Was it OK for the London demonstrators to burn London down? Why did you have your police out there?
Whats ******g wrong with you?
What is wrong with the Rep Party? Why are they silent on continuous atrocities of forcing the Western world to bow down to Islam and now, the Islamic Nazis that include the Muslim Brotherhood, under Hussein Obama? What a traitor this Hussein is and his Dem Party SLAVES! We can see the continuous eerie pattern - under that most dangerous suspected Islamic Trojan horse and Nazi-lover Hussein Obama, where such Muslim sociopaths and Islam is on the rise; everywhere Islamic rule is expanding including in oil-rich once Christian-dominated Africa. The Arabic Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamic Nazi party for goodness sake - they haven't been put on trial for Nazism since the founder, Hassan al-banna, together with the Palestinian Mufti of Jerusalem, and the Turkish Ottomans were among or main Hitler/Nazi’s biggest collaborators or advisers! And the evil Nazi tradition under Islam continues with the top Arab-Egyptian Muslim cleric, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, a follower of Hasan al-Banna and a longtime member of the Muslim Brotherhood, who made this evil call to mass murder the Jews, recently: At – http://europenews.dk/en ; In - http://www.investigativeproject.org/2315/moderate-qaradawi-defends-hitler-and-nuclear
“Moderate” Qaradawi Defends Hitler and Nuclear Terror
IPT News
November 9, 2010
….According to excerpts of a speech that aired on Al-Jazeera in January 2009, Qaradawi called on Muslims to put Jews in “their place” as Hitler had done, in revenge for Israeli military operations in Gaza several weeks earlier. “Throughout history, Allah has imposed upon the [Jews] people who would punish them for their corruption,” he said. “The last punishment was carried out by Hitler. By means of all the things he did to them – even though they exaggerated this issue – he managed to put them in their place. This was divine punishment for them. Allah willing, the next time will be at the hands of the believers.” At a January 2009 “Gaza Victory Rally” in Doha, Qatar, Qaradawi prayed for the opportunity to kill a Jew before his death. “The only thing that I hope for is that as my life approaches its end, Allah will give me an opportunity to go to the land of Jihad and resistance, even if in a wheelchair. I will shoot Allah’s enemies, the Jews, and they will throw a bomb at me, and thus, I will seal my life with martyrdom. Praise be to Allah.”……
After eight years of slavish devotion to George W. Bush, his untruths about and appeasement of Islam, what do you expect?
"People where I live say the President of Egypt is the dumdest person on this planet. He could leave Egypt while still alive as they they may killed him the next day."
Of course they may kill Mubarak, since that's what islam & company DO in the name of their evil god, allah/satan ...
And thank you for proving this fact through your comment, DefenderofEvil. How ironic that you're here to defend islam, only to have many of your comments repeatedly prove just how evil it truly is, lol ...
"Islam does have a policy embracing the happiness of this world. . . . We believe that Islam is an all-embracing concept which regulates every aspect of life, adjudicating on every one of its concerns and prescribing for it a solid and rigorous order."
Happiness? Whose happiness? Is that allah's happiness, err, I mean satan's happiness? Or does islam promise happiness to muslim MEN? Hey women certainly cannot be happy as an islamic slave, so this mission statement is false advertising. And muslim men are islamic slaves, too, even though they may not see it that way - so neither men or women can be truly happy.
It is simply IMPOSSIBLE for islam & company to bring any measure of happiness to anyone, anywhere. There can be no "happiness" under an evil ideology like iSlave. What a load of BS! ...this mission statement makes me laugh.
Steffen Larsen@BBC: I have listened for the words "Muslim Brotherhood" and they are mentioned extremely rarely, and then almost always introduced by Egyptians who are in a hurry to explain that the Brotherhood will have little to say once Real Democracy is introduced.
Too soon to call Real Democracy in Egypt, with unfolding Muslim Brotherhood 'hijacking' events. The fever has to run it's full course. So not yet, much nasty business ahead first, Sharia in all its ugly forms, and then... Egyptians, as is the whole Islamic-Cresent from Mali to Indonesia, have to wait for when Islam is fully downed, ingested, vomited out, and then maybe they'll join the rest of humanity in "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" for and by 'We the People'. Not yet, not even by a long shot. MoBros will have this one.
wildjew, that's why the Tea party is a blessing for the Rep. Party, so that infiltrators like Keith Ellison or any Left/Islam's appeasers can be thrown out! But the Tea Party has been quite silent recently (maybe they've lost their momentum since the Hussein Obama exploited so cunningly the Arizona shooting to blame indirectly the Tea Party), except for that Israel-basher Rand Paul! He should be thrown out of the Tea Party - or he might be another Bush!
Kathrarina, the tea party has done much good, though I wonder how large the Dr. Rand / Ron Paul faction is in the tea party movement. I know it's got to be large judging by the Paul supporters here in the south. Both Pauls are anti-Israel. Ron Paul is pro-Hamas, pro-Hezbollah. His son Rand supports his father's foreign policy. Then we have this man who runs Redstate.com, Erick Erickson who recently complained, "there are people who believe our alliance with Israel outweighs every other consideration." Who on the political right says Israel outweighs every other consideration? What does Erickson mean? Does the tea party offer any kind of a united front against the jihad? Does the tea party offer any kind of coherent view on foreign policy?
muslim "BROTHERHOOD" ...hah!
Some brotherhood, eh? Yeah it's a brotherhood of thugs, thieves and murderers. I typically think of a brotherhood as a nice bunch of boys doing good things for humanity, but that certainly isn't true for these BAD-BOYS!
The muslim brotherhood is just as deceptive a slogan as islam is a religion of peace - both slogans are completely misleading and false, as is islam on the whole.
Lets be clear, islam & company are EVIL to the core ...
"People where I live say the President of Egypt is the dumdest person on this planet. He could leave Egypt while still alive as they they may killed him the next day."
SonOfIslam - there are lots of people say MoSlums are the dumbest people on the planet. They should leave Islam because it is heinously evil in every which way and manner.
I guess you wont understand that.
This article is a must-read for all Western politicians, especially President Obama.Hope, he takes the time.
Obama has previously said in a magazine interview that he "submitted" to God. Quite an interesting term no?
Wildjew, thanks for the interesting info on the two Pauls. Tea Party and the Rep Party must stand firm against anti-Jew/Israel hatred. The Tea party right now is scattered - because Palin is being attacked all over; she needs to stand up courageously against such attacks as a true leader, and not show any weakness; such as by the Arizona shooting circumstances, cunningly blamed on her and the Tea Party, indirectly by that most sly Islam-lover, Hussein Obama and his Dem Party SLAVES!
Hello mr defenderofislam it is i Defender of islam. I have agreed with your agenda and now no matter how much people will critize me support i your cuase. I just want to say that i feel that terrerists have hi jaked islam. terrerists have killed one to many of there follow muslims to be fighting for islam. This should come as no surprise. Obama has behaved consistently all along, from his refusal to back the protesters in Iran, who were demonstrating against an Islamic Republic
............................
Indeed. While it has been rightly noted that the Iranian protesters did not all necessarily represent a fully democratic element, they nonetheless stood against an appallingly brutal and unfree Islamic state. If a representative of the democratic West were to err in any direction, it would be in giving the demonstrators full support. Instead, Obama was silent—even in the face of the demonstrators being imprisoned, tortured, and murdered.

Very well said, ethoman. This kowtowing to the MB from the US and numerous other Western countries has been going on for decades now. Not for nothing did the remnants of the MB after the Syrians had levelled Hama find safe sanctuary in Western Germany.
Is this dickhead DOI cutting and pasting ? One minute his postings are laughably incoherent, he has no knowledge of English, next minute he writes a sentence which actually makes sense, but is stuck in the middle of other incoheriencies - I think myself he is a soldier of loonwatch who has been sent to confuse us all. Sharia law enforces the principles of Islam. It is merely the codification of submission to Islam, Mohammad's allah, and to Mohammad as the perfect (macho) man.
Obama is helping position the Muslim Brotherhood into positions of political power around the globe so that when there is a major U.S. city annihilated by jihad, there will be a structure for Obama's dhimmi contract with the "Muslim world" (i.e., global jihad planned and orchestrated by the Muslim Brotherhood).
