A Tulsa police captain who refused to require that some of his subordinates attend an upcoming Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at a Tulsa mosque filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday, claiming that his First Amendment rights have been violated.Capt. Paul Fields also claims that Deputy Chief Daryl Webster - the sole defendant in the case at this point - retaliated against him for his "exercise of his First Amendment Rights" and singled Fields out for disparate treatment.
Fields asked for $1 in nominal damages on each of his two claims, attorneys' fees and whatever other relief "the court deems just and proper under the circumstances."
Fields was temporarily transferred Monday afternoon from the Police Department's Riverside Division to another patrol shift at the Mingo Valley Division.
The Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is to be held at the mosque of the Islamic Society of Tulsa on March 4. Police Chief Chuck Jordan has said the society scheduled the event to show its appreciation for the officers' response to a recent threat against it.
In an e-mail sent by Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police Board of Directors Chairman Clay Ballenger to FOP members on Monday, Ballenger said Fields' refusal "was based on the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, departmental policy, and past practices
of the Tulsa Police Department."...

The Islamic Society of Tulsa links to CAIR and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which both have links to Jihad terror—particularly the Muslim Brotherhood. Let they benignly describe CAIR as being concerned with "Islamic Civil Rights".

The Islamic Society of Tulsa invited the Tulsa Police Department to a "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day" event at their mosque that was scheduled, probably deliberately, to be on Friday, the day for Muslims main weekly prayer like Sunday is for Christians. The officers were invited to watch the 45 minute prayer service and/or tour the mosque and/or listen to presentations on their Islamic beliefs upon requested or ask questions about Islam or they could just come and eat the food. I'm not really seeing the appreciation here as much as I'm seeing outright proselytizing under the banner of appreciation. Police officers shouldn't be ordered to attend an event centered around religious proselytizing but that is what appears to have happened in Tulsa.
After police officers were asked to go on a voluntary basis and not enough signed up it then became mandatory in a memo sent out by Deputy Chief Daryl Webster. The memo dated February 17th ordering the police captains to have officers at the mosque is titled "TOUR OF MOSQUE - MARCH 4th"and the email from Sheryl Siddiqui/Islamic Society of Tulsa, which was attached said to let her know how many were coming so she could have enough food and TOUR GUIDES! Nothing was written whatsoever about any plans specifically for appreciation of the officers, which seems odd! Nothing.

It seems like a *lot* of the Tulsa police officers wanted to opt out of this Taqiyya-fest. Incidentally, there had been invitations for Tulsa law enforcement to attend other religious events—Catholic, Baptist—and attendance at these events was *never made mandatory*.
That Captain Fields has been forcibly reassigned is appalling. I'm glad to see he's fighting back.

The cop whose rights were violated need to show his idiot P.O.S. boss that REAL Americans will not tolerate the violation of our First and Fourteenth Amendment rights, we will not accept censorship, viewpoint discrimination, disparate treatment, or singling out for retaliation.
REAL Americans stand up for Freedom of Conscience, which states that at no time are we required to attend mandatory indoctrination from anyone as a condition of employment or education, be they Christians, Jews, Islamists, homosexuals, or any other political organization. We are not required to accept, support, or recognize anything as a condition of anything. We are not required to be "politically correct." Under no circumstances do we EVER have to worry about "whom we might offend" before expressing views through protected speech.
That's what this is really about. The Deputy Chief Daryl Webster, a craven coward and dhimmi of the highest order "does not wish to offend" his Insect, I mean, Islamist Overlords, because if you "offend" them, they will go ballistic jihad on you. This is why he foolishly tried to make it mandatory for his cops to attend this so-called "cultural diversity training," which is really indoctrination and advancement of the Islamist agenda. Due to their strained relationship with mostly Blacks, Police departments want to "portray the image" that they are "friendly to the community at large."
Unfortunately for them, this does not mean they can force people to accept Islam, homosexuals, Christianity, or any other thing. We still have Freedom of Conscience in this country. I am behind Captain Fields one hundred percent. Don't ever let some leftist traitor get rid of you for "being biased" and "non-politically correct," as if liberals were somehow "neutral" and "unbiased."
FOX news has this story as well. In their story the officer was quoted as saying that no one wanted to attend the mosque event and no one volunteered. So he was then ordered to find "volunteers".The officer also noted that he can not recall officers ever being ordered to attend events at Churches or Synagogues. CAIR front man Hoop condemned the officer for exercising his first amendment rights as yet another example of bigotry and islamophobia.

Recent "threat"? This could be in reference to the Quran grilling video and letter that one fellow sent to the Islamic Society of Tulsa. As of the last news I've read on this case, the charges were dismissed; there was no threat.
