Watch for this to be an orgy of Muslim claims of victimhood and demonization of freedom fighters trying to defend Constitutional freedoms against Islamic supremacism. "Senate to hold hearings on Muslims' rights," by Stephen Dinan for the Washington Times, March 22 (thanks to all who sent this in):
Just weeks after House Republicans held a hearing looking at the dangers of radical Muslims in the U.S., Senate Democrats are countering with a hearing of their own, scheduled for after Congress returns from a 10-day vacation, to examine Muslims' civil rights.Senate Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin, Illinois Democrat, announced the subcommittee hearing Tuesday, saying there has been a spike in anti-Muslim bigotry in the last year that demands closer attention.
“Our Constitution protects the free exercise of religion for all Americans,” Mr. Durbin said. “During the course of our history, many religions have faced intolerance. It is important for our generation to renew our founding charter’s commitment to religious diversity and to protect the liberties guaranteed by our Bill of Rights.”...
In 2009, the latest FBi statistics available, anti-Islamic hate crimes accounted for 9.3 percent of the 1,376 religiously motivated hate crimes recorded. That's far less than the 70.1 percent that were anti-Jewish.
This is absolutely absurd. These people, through thier ignorance, are laying the foundation for Islam to walk all over us. I'm very disappointed in these elected officials. If they were to study the problem on thier own they would not need to call a special hearing.
I will definitely be writing my congressman and senators about this.
One thing this country has to finally get straight: there are no group rights , only individual rights. Unconstitutional exceptions were made (unfortunately IMO, but hopefully temporary) for blacks, but certainly there are no Muslim rights as such. There is only a right to practice a religion as far as it does not conflict with the laws of this secular country, or other rights of individuals (which is why Mormons can't legally have more than one wife). Ultimately this means that Islam cannot fully be practiced here, ever - thank heaven!
Minorities seeking only power & preferences (not justice) typically try to change this but I think the courts will ultimately say no. I'm hopeful that Holder's obnoxious "Justice Dept.", for example, will loose the teacher hajj case.
I think most Muslims probably realize that they & their Islam don't belong in the West as it is, but their hope is to take over the suicidal West demographically out of the cowardice and incompetence of politicians and the weaknesses inherent in Christianity which make so many Christian churches reach out to Islam (which is so much stronger & more militant, and naturally wants to kill apostates) instead of resisting it for its very survival. It's the weaknesses of the West that really worry me.

What ya' betting that the majority of those 70% of anti-Jewish hate crime attacks were committed by Muslims?
This was my short note to Senator Durbin, sent through his website.
Mr. Durbin,
I believe that you're making a mistake in trying to turn American Muslims into a protected class especially when you reference hate speech and quran burnings. The OIC is still trying to get the UN to accept worldwide limitations on free speech re: Islam and the last thing that the US needs is a Senator making their argument for them. Being American means that you you must be willing to have your feelings hurt occasionally in order to propagate free speech. I do not agree with the quran burners any more than I do with those who burn bibles, any books, or the American flag, (or for that matter, demonstrate at the funerals of American servicemen and women) but our freedoms should allow us to express our opinions by doing those things. When it becomes illegal to voice an opinion, or peacefully demonstrate on any subject, the American ideals of freedom suffer.
I also don't quite understand your statement about the increase in anti-Muslim hate crimes. Going from a high (in 2001) of 481, we've seen in every year since: 155, 149, 156, 128, 156, 115, 105, and 107 in 2009 according to Department of Justice figures. I'm not seeing a statistical increase.
I hear there's Islamophobia all over the place!
That's criminal!
Ah to be able to go through life ignoring facts and following fads out of shear emotional sentiment, Oh no global cooling, Nope Global Warming, those poor palestinians they should be allowed to attack those big meanies in isreal, oh no people are turning against islam better do something quick or it will be Nazi Germany all over again.
That is why I always say i a debate the first side to appel to emotion loses. If they cannot back their positiion in facts, they have no ground to stand on.
Oh well the only thing senators like wasting more than money is time.
Dhavok
Thank you for writing to the ignorant Islamosympathizer. I shall be writing to him as well. I think we should ALL write to him! And to a few other senators as well.
Model Jihadi Material Support Bill for State Legislatures
(from PoliticalIslam.com)
Since Muslims object when a legal body tries to limit the spread of Sharia law, it seems timely to submit a model bill for state legislatures that no Muslim could object to, since it is based on the political doctrine found in the Koran, Sira, Hadith and Sharia.
The Legislature finds that jihad is a necessary part of Sharia law. Jihad is commanded as incumbent on all Muslims in the Koran, the Hadith and the Sira, as well as the Sharia. Hence, the Legislature proposes that a Jihadi Registration Board be maintained by the Attorney General.
Registered jihadis may establish fund raising for the Jihadi Registration Board Fund, since material support is commanded in the Koran for all Muslims to contribute to “fighting in Allah’s cause”.
Koran 61:10 Muslims! Should I show you a profitable exchange that will keep you from severe torment? Believe in Allah and His messenger and fight valiantly for Allah’s cause [jihad] with both your wealth and your lives. It would be better for you, if you only knew it!
Jihadis will receive a photo ID and a registration number. Quarterly reports will be made to the Attorney General by a Sharia compliance group to assure that all funds raised by the Jihadi Registration Board go the strict purpose of jihad.
Should a jihadi be killed in the process of jihad against any and all Kafirs, the Jihadi Registration Board will use money from the Board Fund for maintenance of the jihadi’s family, both here and overseas.
There will be a strict limitation of weapons used to those of Mohammed’s jihad—swords, knives, arrows and stones. Severed Kafir heads may be displayed on pikes or if multiple heads are involved stacked in the standard pyramidal pile, as per the Golden Age in Spain. All jihadi attacks using modern weapons will be charged as normal first degree murder.
KAFIR OPT OUT
All Kafirs (non-Muslims) may register as a dhimmi with the Attorney General. The dhimmi registration list will be maintained by the Jihadi Registration Board. All dhimmis will wear a distinctive arm band or belt as per the standards of the Jihadi Registration Board. ID laminated cards on a lanyard are also acceptable. Registered dhimmis names, home addresses, work locations and car license plates will be available on the web site of the Jihadi Registration Board.
After registration as a dhimmi, the dhimmi will have to pay a jizyah tax to the fund administered by the Sharia compliance group. The jizyah tax rate will be the same as Mohammed used at Khaybar, 50% of the gross income. Such jizyah funds will be strictly maintained separately from the jihadi material support funds. The dhimmi contributions can only be used for dawah (preaching Islam to the Kafirs). All imams and Muslim Brotherhood agents can use these funds for dawah.
Since the Hadith call for all dhimmis to well protected by all Muslims, jihad attacks on registered dhimmis will be treated as first degree murder.
Bill Warner, Director, Center for the Study of Political Islam
Did anyone read the article by Nicholas Kristof in the NY Times, that Robert had linked here a a couple weeks ago, about Islamophobia and hysteria?
This part caught my attention:
"American paranoia about Islamist fundamentalism has done as much damage as Islamist fundamentalism, itself."
Examine that statement. Do you see the absurdity? It is an absolute paradox. The definitive acknowledgment of damage caused by Islamic fundamentalism, refutes the assertion of "paranoia". Clown.
I'm going to email Kristof and bring this to his attention. Not that it will sink in through his dense skull. A psycho Seattle blogger/author has a video on her blogsite, of a speech she'd given at an Islamic center... wherein she raved about the *brilliance* of Kristof's statement. So I posted on her blog, my examination of the statement. She deleted it. I reposted it. Deleted again.

Yep. After I first heard about Rep. Peter King's hearings on Muslim "radicalization", I assumed some dhimmi tools would hold counter hearings on how "oppressed" Jihadists are in this country.
This was all too predictable.
((((("After I first heard about Rep. Peter King's hearings on Muslim "radicalization", I assumed some dhimmi tools would hold counter hearings on how "oppressed" Jihadists are in this country."))))))
This is one-of-the-many reasons King's hearings should have been better constructed. There should have been focus and emphasis on the real issues, with more compelling testimonies and evidence... and more real witnesses. Rather than wasting valuable time and opportunity on the "liberal" islamosympathizer whine-fest that it turned out to be.
Oops... the above comment was intended as a reply to gravenimage - not to myself.
With all due respect Senator Durbin;
If this "religion" says the Jews must all die, should we step aside? Should we let a "religion" kill for their "god" because, just because, it is writted in the qur'an?
That is a fork in the road, its left or right, right or wrong, good or evil, and you must select a road.
Shortly after 9/11 in canada we had an Islamic Org try to claim that Islamophic/Racist attacks were going through the roof.
I actually check-up on the claim, the evidence show about 145 Allegations of post-9/11 attacks on Muslims.
Of those, the Police only saw about 60 worth looking into as valid by the evidence,of those ...the next level was around 24 Acts on violence or verbal assualt worthy of possible Charges.
Finally, about 12 were investigated that lead to charges for 3 people, but the 1 case that went to a Court trial had not given the Nationality/faith or race of the Charged.
I never did see the media or CAIR hold up this Conviction as evidence of islamophobia,so I assumed that the case was tossed or the person pled to a lesser offence not linked to a Hate-crime.
BTW
One report had a Mosque claiming that Muslim women were being attack, but that too died out when I dug deep and saw that a Imam told poeple that many Muslim womone came to him to say that "People were looking at them AS IF they were Terrorists".
So Muslims are now Psychic to know that any eye-contact means they are looked at as Terrorists.
When will the Senate hold hearings on "anti-Jewish bigotry"?
The hypocrisy is astounding.

I quite agree, Angel. We would up with all the "Muslim backlash"-and dhimmi backlash—that we would have had in any case, while the original hearings made very few points.
I do believe that Rep. King meant well, but his hearings ultimately did us very little good.
