"Men scolded protesters and said their concerns were not urgent in the aftermath of the uprising."
Women and non-Muslims have heard that before. Just be patient. Now is not a good time to rock the boat -- not when "reforms" are coming, however slowly. And we've heard that sort of claim answered before:
"Frankly I have never yet engaged in a direct action movement that was "well timed," according to the timetable of those who have not suffered unduly from the disease of segregation ... This 'wait" has almost always meant 'never.' We must come to see with the distinguished jurist of yesterday that 'justice too long delayed is justice denied'." -- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Letter from Birmingham Jail
Of course, that's exactly the idea here. "Wait" means "never," for the rights of women and unbelievers in a society suffused with the attitudes of Islamic supremacism. "Egyptian women's rights protest marred by hecklers," from the Associated Press, March 8:
CAIRO (AP) — A protest by hundreds of Egyptian women demanding equal rights and an end to sexual harassment turned violent Tuesday when crowds of men heckled and shoved the demonstrators, telling them to go home where they belong.
The women — some in headscarves and flowing robes, others in jeans — had marched to Cairo's central Tahrir Square to celebrate International Women's Day. But crowds of men soon outnumbered them and chased them out.
"They said that our role was to stay home and raise presidents, not to run for president," said Farida Helmy, a 24-year old journalist.
Sexual harassment remains widespread in Egypt, where women often are afraid to report sexual assault or harassment for fear they and their families will be stigmatized. A 2008 survey by the Egyptian Center for Women's Rights found that 83 percent of Egyptian women and 98 percent of foreign women in Cairo said they had been harassed — while 62 percent of men admitted to harassing.
Groping may be a front-runner for a national pastime.
Tahrir Square was the epicenter of the protests that toppled President Hosni Mubarak last month after nearly 30 years in power. Women in Egypt had reported that Tahrir had been free of the groping and leering endemic in the country, but on Feb. 11, CBS correspondent Lara Logan was sexually assaulted and beaten on the final night of the 18-day revolt. The Associated Press does not name victims of sexual assault unless they agree to be identified.
At Tuesday's march, men scolded protesters and said their concerns were not urgent in the aftermath of the uprising. When the women argued back, some were verbally abused or groped. Others were beaten and had to be ripped away from the groups of men.
Mostafa Hussein, 30, said many protesters had to flee the area and hide in a park nearby.
"They were running for their lives and the army had to fire a shot in the air to break up the mob chasing them," Hussein said.
Passant Rabie, 23, said she was surprised that the women were abused after the role they played in the uprising. Women were central to the protests, leading chants, spending cold nights in the square and even fighting during the battle of Black Wednesday, when pro-government henchmen attacked the protesters.
"I thought we were going to be celebrated as women of the revolution because we were present during the days of Tahrir," Rabie said. "Unless women are included now, we are going to be oppressed."
For many of your former co-revolutionaries, that's the idea. Only, they will call it "liberating," "elevating," and "respecting" women by affording them their proper place according to Islamic law.
On the occasion of the International Women's Day, U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, said on Tuesday that the transitions from autocracy in Egypt and Tunisia would be incomplete as long as half of society remained blocked from participating in governance.
"The United States will stand firmly for the proposition that women must be included in whatever process goes forward," she said.
Why doesn't NBC,CBS, ABC, and CNN run this story over and over again? Where's the denounciation by NOW, and other feminist organizations? Are they all too terrified of Islam to speak up? How can the leftist politicians, and liberal stategists think that Islam is compatible with their beliefs? They must be in a coma or stoned, or they have been deceived so totally that they cannot discern good from evil.
I have always maintained that political correctness is stronger than any other leftist belief. And I do believe it is a leftist belief, even though it affects conservatives as well to a lesser extent.
To their credit, CNN did run this one.
http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/meast/03/08/egypt.women/index.html
AP had more extensive coverage, though, and did a much better job here of conveying how nasty things got.
Muslim men will continue to use muslim spokeswomen to drive home the point that islam is peaceful and respects women and everyone else, insofar as it helps to propogate their agenda of achieving worldwide submission under islam and sharia. Once the women have "outlived" their usefulness, they will be again relegated to the role of slave to a misogynist, pathetic ideology. I'm bewildered at to why any woman would willingly remain in or join such a cult, notwithstanding the attendant ramifications.

All too true.
Muslim male Neanderthals in the 21st century.
Hindu scriptures say a society/nation will never progress if women are ill treated. This is true of the western society also. Liberty is there but where is the respect for women? Let us all suffer
These incidents remind me of a pivotal scene in the movie Aliens and Obama's epic failure as a president. When the colonial marines are about to engage the enemy their leader-Gorman, demands that they disarm to prevent a fire-fight that will lead to a nuclear meltdown.
Of course the aliens come out, all hell ensues and Gorman has no idea what to do and watches his marines get torn to shreds. Fortunately a few marines disobeyed his orders, stayed armed and saved most of their team.
Apart from the fact that Obama is a muslim in disguise, he is our Gorman-totally incompetent, lacks any leadership qualities and is generally pretty dangerous as a result.
When the leader of the democratic world should recognize that Islam is inhumane, anti-woman, anti-freedom, a threat to civilization, etc., and to take advantage of this crisis to promote freedom/democracy in the mideast, he sticks his head in the sand and awaits the new "reality" of even more radical Islamic states. As if we have no power to change or prevent that from happening.
I don't understand how regular people like us have Islam all figured out and the NSA, FBI, CIA and other "intelligence" agencies with their billion dollar budgets still have no clue.
Defeating Islam will require the power of the state to achieve-individuals like us have no hope on our own-except to wake up our populace. The evidence is glaring and it's clear that Islam needs to disappear yet few dare to accept this simple and obvious truth.
Of all the people who understand and live with the danger of Islam on a daily basis, it is muslim women. And on this 'Women's Day' their plight under the incredibly oppression and tyranny of Islam, should be the focus of the entire world.
*incredible
One of the reasons (there are so many) why I am convinced Islam is eventually doomed to virtual extinction is because it functions as a "recipe" for permanent second-class status (or even worse) for women. Mohammed himself was a male pig if ever there were one, notwithstanding the few sops he threw women's way and which apologists for Islam regularly bring up to "prove" that Mohammed was actually beneficial for the female gender.
In the long haul, if men don't have women on their side, they're two-thirds of the way not there and thus destined to never get there. Now that Islam is in the process of being exposed for what it truly is, after its lazy and non-productive slumber for centuries, which made the non-Muslim world understandably uninterested in it, it is only a matter of time before the vast majority of women across the world, including millions of Muslim women, realize that Islam is a guarantee that females will NEVER be considered equal to men. Of course, needless to say, just about the last to comprehend this truth will be the Maureen Dowd type. You know, the clueless, pampered, leftist, ignorant, ridiculous and overall erroneous Western feminist, whose contributions to the best which mankind has achieved adds up to nothing.
I think that a man should die for his wife, Christianity teaches husbands to be like Jesus Christ and die for their bride, the way Christ died for the Church.
I feel sorry for these foolish women who didn't see it coming.
The fact is, so many (not all) feminists are lining up right behind the liberal camp and advancing the cause of Islam, I can't help but be tempted to say "I told you so". Yes conservative politicians are fairly worthless in stopping Islam, but I'm sure a liberal who openly & fully antagonizes the situation is a lot worse than a dumb conservative.
Nothing says it better than when an Ancient Greek strategos said;
"I am more afraid of our own mistakes then if the enemy's designs".
A very true teaching. IMO, the western world treats women like objects with pornography and so forth, whilst Islam does the same but in their own filthy minds.
However, at least women in the western world have the freedom to decide if they want to he objects of pleasure. In Islam, a woman's choice is shortcut to her being in their filthy minds nothing more than a private cook, cleaner and sex worker.
yeh, we do need everything like this to be covered as headlines until our general populaces "get it" and it sinks in..
yes its PC to the point that islam has us so bluffed, we won't headline a story on womens rights! PC within PC..
who's decision is it to not headline these stories?
whoever it is in whatever country, their gov dept has been pressured by local islamists not to concentrate on these aspects of "cultural, regional or tribal" islam, which is often an excuse (ie female circumcision) or to substitute "muslim jihad lynch mob" with "insurgents" etc.
"They were running for their lives and the army had to fire a shot in the air to break up the mob chasing them," Hussein said.
i wonder what would have happened if the army didn't step in. and whether the brutal mass rape and beating would have been covered? and how it would have been covered?
i had to hear from overseas news sources that bushfires started here (Aust) may have been lit by islamists. it was barely whispered here at all. (another) pack rape by a group of mohommedians recently was quashed. i read one story in an interstate paper.. it was in bendigo, victoria.. i haven't heard anything further.
hate crimes and attempted mass murder censored. we don't hear 1% of it unless we actively search.
If the femi-nazis would spend a fraction of time decrying the mistreatment in the islamic world as they spend bludgeoning western society over the head about their rights, islam would be changing pretty darn quick. Where's Hillary when the muslim women need her?
The Declaration Of Human Rights for Islamic Women
1. If you are a female child, you have the right to be beaten, raped,or killed, or to be sold to any
other islamic man, who may do the same.
2. If you are an islamic wife, you have the right to be beaten, raped and beheaded for any reason. And if you are raped, you must be killed because you enticed the rapist.
3. As an islamic woman, if you have survived past the age of 20 years, you have the right to obey all of the dictates of Muhamed, and any murderous behavior that he wills or else you must be killed.
james, as far as i am concerned you are preaching to the choir...
i am certain that each and every one of us commenting on jw, are pretty normal moral, ethical and law abiding citizens. this virulent spread of islam in our midst with all the havoc mischief and destruction that it brings, is pushing, pushing, pushing us to a snapping point.
i say this very calmly and matter of fact...and not in a foaming at the mouth rant against islam.
it looks like in the not too distant future, there WILL be a MAJOR conflict. in the west. where parisians have had it till HERE with muslimes blocking streets with their confrontational prayers. brits, led by the edl will likewise snap at the site of one more jihadi in their midst insulting the fallen brave...
and here across the pond, americans fed up with all the whitewashing of muslime crimes in their midst, by the msm and the muslime in the oval office may just say "enough is enough"
the question is this:
those that are supposed to help and protect us...appear to be against us (airport 'security', police in deerborn etc etc)...so what is a mild mannered jw reader to DO when the rubber meets the road?
i am thinking out loud...and welcome your suggestions.
...and the muslime in the oval office may just say "enough is enough"

Obama has not "had enough." Cloward-Piven is in overdrive right now. The more mayhem, the stronger the case for more oversight. Weak people are easier to control.
"A very true teaching. IMO, the western world treats women like objects with pornography and so forth, whilst Islam does the same but in their own filthy minds. "
------------
Despite the fact that they may be treated like objects in the west, if they smart about it the women can make a fortune.
Ever see how much money a good looking stripper makes in one night? They make more in one night than I make in a month's time working my butt off. If they make the money "under the table" its 100% profits. That's assuming they are smart enough to work a part time job 15 - 20 hours a week, get food stamps and handle all that cash *away* from the banks.
As I said if they are smart about it they can empower themselves despite the objectification. However you feel about the issue this is the reality. Now compare that to the position of the poor Muslimah who is subservient to her husband, not allowed to work, must stay home and is basically a Muslim breeder for more jihadis. Muslimahs are also subjected to groping, rapes and worse in Islamic society with no justice against those who do these things.
I wonder if the history books 50 years from now will duly shame liberals for their support of Islamic sexism, murder, and oppression.
Why don't you finish reading what I write in that comment
before jumping to that laughable conclusion you falsely accuse ke of.
I wrote that at least they have the choice in the western world. By the way, funny you justify the degrading position of women into material objects by how much they earn.
As pointed out by Marisol above, CNN has been reporting this story. Anderson Cooper had quite a long segment on it. After breathlessly reporting day after day from Cairo during the excitement of the Egyptian "Facebook revolution," being about Democracy and Freedom and all, he now seems genuinely perplexed at the obvious display of outright hostility to women during what he termed was supposed to be a "million women march."
Cooper seemed not to notice that during the earlier demonstrations there were relatively very few women in Tahrir square actually demonstrating. The only ones there were those bringing food and drink to the men folk. (Cooper also seemed not to take notice of the peculiarness of large groups of men praying en masse, or about those guys in the funny looking red and white Santa Claus hats leading the prayers. Of course, Jihad Watchers all instantly recognized that this was the Muslim Brotherhood being led in prayers by Al Azhar clergy.)
Poor Anderson Cooper. Completely clueless as ever, although the clues keep dropping all around him and he is completely oblivious to them. (I wonder if he will ever take notice of the fact that so many of the Muslim Brotherhood leadership seem to have bruised foreheads, and to wonder what that might be all about.)
"I thought we were going to be celebrated as women of the revolution because we were present during the days of Tahrir," Rabie said. "Unless women are included now, we are going to be oppressed."
How naive!!!
How could this woman have grown up in Egypt and think that?? I could see this coming from an ignorant outsider dhimmi who has invested themselves in the assurance that Islam is a religion like any other, but for someone who grew up in the belly of the beast to think this?!?!?
A leopard does not change its spots. And if these women get too uppity, they won't be getting book deals and spots on TV as happened at the genesis of the women's movement in the West in the 60's they will be getting "honor" killed in short order.
Wellington: "One of the reasons (there are so many) why I am convinced Islam is eventually doomed to virtual extinction is because it functions as a "recipe" for permanent second-class status (or even worse) for women. Mohammed himself was a male pig if ever there were one".
Hear, hear, very good. I wholeheartedly agree. Democratic laws and principles are not only about fair-elections, separation of state and church and independent judiciary (constitutional state). They are also about autonomy of the individual (men AND women alike) as much as possible and freedom of speech. And of course about human rights and the golden rule.
Citizens of Democratic Nations can take these great principles and values for granted, forget about them, be concerned with other issues, many of them petty. OR .... they, first the women, but also the men, can also make them their ideals, and passions, in relation to Islam. Islam, that is, let's face it, a very powerful organisation/ movement. With a sort of tribal organisation, with a strange but strong sense of honor and pride.
"It is about women's rights, stupid!" that is what Hillary Rodham Clinton should be broadcasting! If she would do that, she might even run again for the presidency in 2012.
I mean, such a message is potentially so powerful, if made into a spearpoint and couched in a global context. Hillary could promote women-solidarity across the planet. And use twitter-facebook-internet and the english language for it relentlessly. She could shame the current feminists, who are so contemptuously silent on the global oppression of women, because of Islam.
And the world is getting ever more well educated, smart women, who as a result get less children and more work and thus money and power. And free time to learn, think and act.
As Wellington mentioned, that is the achillesheel of Islam and our Muslim enemies. And a huge trump-card for Worldwide-Democracy-enthousiasts. And if Hillary won't use it maybe Donald Trump or Sarah Palin will.
How could this woman have grown up in Egypt and think that?? I could see this coming from an ignorant outsider dhimmi who has invested themselves in the assurance that Islam is a religion like any other, but for someone who grew up in the belly of the beast to think this?!?!?
It could be that Muslim Brotherhood themself misled women into believing that they will be hailed as women of the revolution if they zealously participated. The MB are very cunning people. Also, a lot of muslims don't really have a good understanding of Islam. For example, many of my muslim friends have told me that muhammad had 11 wives because those women were widows, had nowhere to go, and so muhammad was being merciful to them by marrying them.
Ordinary muslims are told by their leaders that when there is more Islam in their societies, everyone will be better off and happier than they are now. Ordinary muslims, being trusting of their mullahs, readily believe them and start actively support bringing more Islam to their society. Of course, once the islamists are in power they show their true colors, but by then it is difficult as impossible to topple them (Iran, for example).
Conclusion: Propaganda works, on the naive and the ignorant.
Am interested to hear how the higher-profile women of Egypt's revolution will respond to this. Can or will they in their new-found voices rally millions of women to speak out forcefully against any men who wish to keep them down? Here's hoping....frankly, it'd be bigger than anything that's taken place in the past couple of months, doing tons more to shake up their societies than riddance of crusty dictators ever did.
Suggestions:
1) Meet others - online, facebook, or face to face. Talk to them and tell them of the true nature of Islam and muslims. Take excellent communication tips from citzenwarrior.com.
2) Get married (if you are not) and have children. Raise them to be brave and smart citizens. "smart" means that they should be able to tell what is true and what is propaganda. Oh, and teach them the importance of *voting* for the right candidates in *every* election.
3) Beginning something like 11 months before elections, start making efforts to let candidates know that whoever makes a [sensible] stand against Islam and muslims, is the one who will get your vote, and that every other criteria is secondary.
More suggestions as coming. You too are welcome to say out your suggestions.
And just think, Allah wills this mob behavior...Allah is an accomplice...Have you ever seen a pack of dogs attack one of their own who is wounded? This is the mob, the only real difference between this Mahoundian mob and the dog mob, is that the dogs didn't have sex or rape on their minds, and they don't have Allah backing them up...Allah doesn't like dogs much and is mostly indifferent to them...This is because dogs don't read the Quran...But humans do, so Allah is deeply interested in us...If you notice, Quran readers around the world often act as a mob...Sometimes it is attacking Christians, sometimes it is attacking Jews, sometimes it is attacking kufr in general, sometimes it is attacking itself, and it's female population, sometimes it rapes, sometimes it beats, sometimes it murders and sometimes it is all three...
And if Allah is not willing this, who is?

"Human rights begin in the household". That needs to be the poster that must be carried by protesters in order to begin the process of taking the stars out of Anderson Cooper's starry eyes and those other incredibly naive, myopic MSM "journalists". Any serious discussion of "Human rights begins in the household" will inevitably lead to the exposition of key tenets of Islam which are anithetical to the critical Western line.
Just yesterday, I engaged in a debate with two brothers about Islam and the West. Their baying and howling started immediately: Inquisition, Crusades, etc. I reached for my drink and went silent, realizing once again that I was up against those of a thousand "but..."s. In this case, it was impossible to get to the essence of things, that is, the critical Western line or thrust, the one that has been chosen by the boots of millions from non-Western countries. C'est la vie. A slow, consolatory smile crossed my face as the words "tequila taqqiya" came into my mind: the killer jihadee use of western looking men and women to aid and abett terrorist acts.
"Human Rights begin in the Household.
Sorry: "abet" not "abett".
taqqiya is used in the deception sense.
At the end,"Human Rights begin in the Household."
I would also like to add, "Judge and be prepared to be judged." Note: I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am astounded by the naivety of some of the women who thought they would be "celebrated" but who can blame them as we are all somewhat naive to begin with.
I saw Gloria Steinem on the Bill Maher show the other night. Not a peep from her pompous ass about Islam and women.
Apparently she has enough courage to rake white men over the coals, but not enough to take on the vaunted Moslem Male. Now, how are women doing in the West in comparison with those living in Dar al-Islam?

Inshallah, Swami.
I wonder if Lysistrata is available in Arabic? It could be made supplemental reading in a self-defense course for Arabic women.
Send Tony Blair's sister-in-law over there since she is a recent convert to the religion of lies and hate. Evidently she thinks it is a wonderful religion. Give her a taste of just how wonderful it is...
"The United States will stand firmly for the proposition that women must be included in whatever process goes forward," she said.
She is trying to sound strong saying something that means nothing. "Included?" The women will be included in the Islamic democracy with all the "rights" afforded them under Sharia law. They will, as the Quran tells husbands, have the "right" to be "plowed as you [the husband] sees fit." They will be made "legally" responsible for the crimes committed against them (e.g., Even if only their eyes are showing, their eyes can be declared "seductive" and their rape rationalized as their own fault). They can be merely accused of sexual impropriety (even talking to a man or standing too close to a man) and, not being allowed to speak in their own defense, be condemned by an Imam and the accuser and whoever the accuser can get to agree with him and then stoned to death. Yes, they will be included.
Marisol,
Did you see Amanpour's fluff piece with the women's panel regarding women's rights and presence in Egypt? She had an Egyptian activist on there, who had been working in the system for 30 years or so, who did nothing but use the opportunity to bash Western "colonialism" and "outside" oppression.
The only reason she can be an activist for women's rights for over 30 years is because blaming the infidel is the only way to survive. She had nothing bad to say about Islam, of course.
It's the West's fault, of course, that they do not grow and live off their own foodstuffs. Amanpour tried to get them to open up about life and difficulty being a woman in Egypt and it turned into this mishmash of women's studies intellectualism (ahem) and euphamism. You know there are problems when your voice of reason on the panel, telling it like it is, is Tina Brown.
I see that you are trying to uplift women.
But calling them "degraded" assumes a rather paternalistic viewpoint where they need to be evaluated by others, and that their status depends on others perceptions of their place in society, workforce, etc.
In a free society if someone takes advantage of another person, charge them with a crime, or if it's not illegal, learn your lesson not to associate with bad people and make different choices.
That's how free people view the issue.
One of the main calling cards of the Muslim is "look how we protect our women. The West claims to have freedom but their women are prostitutes, etc." as if, other than the ubiquitous human trafficking element, these folks are free t conduct their lives within the bounds of the law as they wish.
It doesn't mean their mothers have to like it or that once can't use judgment and snub their company or opinions or work product, it just means they're free to do as they wish.
This could even mean those who use it to support drug habits. Their (bad) choice, but their choice.
I do not subscribe to trying to hide or deny the promiscuity of American females and their enablers as some kind of "no we don't" to the Muslims. We do, and you don't have the stuff it takes to put up with that kind of pluralism.
Let me clarify, I'm not disagreeing with your original points, I agree with them.
I just want people to be aware that when they say that "women are degraded" that they might consider that degrading women who don't want to be in those positions is reprehensible, and often illegal in the West.
You can certainly degrade women who have no right to make different free choices.
But saying that others "degrade women" assumes that the women are somehow degraded. If she is free to make the choice, then she is not degraded at all. She is behaving in a manner that appeals to the lustful nature, or fame, or whatever reward her behavior merits. She might hate herself inside or not, who knows. Her employer doesn't degrade her. She may appear in highly sexualized and outrageous materials, but she is still worthy of equal justice under the law, and enjoys the same rights as any suburban housefrau.
Not to be conflated with some idea that children will then somehow look at all women as sex objects with no innate value at all other than pleasure and procreation. It takes Islam to do that.
Very well put winoceros.
Winoceros, you make a fine way to confuse me. I have almost no idea what you're talking about here. As far as I can understand:
//But calling them "degraded" assumes a rather paternalistic viewpoint where they need to be evaluated by others, and that their status depends on others perceptions of their place in society, workforce, etc.//
No it doesn't assume anything, any more than a woman calling a man self-degrading because he treats himself as a tool for pleasure assumes a maternalistic view point.
The fact is, men & women are equals and as equals may watch out for each other if they wish.
Theres nothing wrong with hearing the opinion of women on how men should act; neither should vice versa be disallowed.
The idea that men cannot look out for women is as ridiculous as the idea that women cannot look out for men, and it's the same idea that's causing the collapse of the western world and the ease with which Islamists are taking over; it's why most (not all!) feminists in this country don't give a crap about the women in Egypt, because it's someone else's problem.
There are two parts to a degrading act, which you are conflating:
1) The act in itself
2) The inability to avoid that act.
In the Western world, women fortunately are protected from 2) by law (of course in reality the law is regularly violated with harrassments & rapes etc). A woman can choose to be an object of sexual satisfaction, or choose not to be.
All you can say is give your opinion on whether or not it is degrading, which you choose to avoid judging on whether it is - and I do not, since men are responsible for looking after women, and women are responsible for looking after men - as equals, as protectors of each other.
Islam is different in that there is no protection or looking out for women; it's an enslavement.
There's a difference between men & women willingly & freely accepting the advice of each other (Judeo-Christian thought), men forcing women to be sex slaves (Islam) and men & women not giving a crap about each other (Western World).
Make no mistake, the third one is better than the first, but how long can a society last like this? The answer to that question is how long it will take for Islam to divide & conquer us.
I meant the Western way of thinking is better than Islam.
I obviously prefer the Judeo-Christian tradtion.
dear liberty,
i agree with you. explaining to politicians that they will get elected PROVIDED that they "make... a ... stand against Islam and muslims,... and that every other criteria is secondary." makes sense.
if we are to legislate islam and muslimes out of our lives
(how about a 90% tax ...to cover expenses, a reverse jizyia of sort, punishing for sedition and treason, etc) we need someone like allen west who unflinchingly and unceremoniously will tell the muslimes to get lost!
we also must understand that if we are to win this war in a civil way (i.e. legislatively), time is not in our favour.
muslimes demographics are such, that 'democratically' , these bastards will elect themselves into power...
and this will leave only one solution to eradicate this muslime infestation, and that would be armed conflict...

Unfortunately, dear Eastview, I believe that most Muslimahs who tried to go the "Lysistrata" route would wind up maritally raped or even "honor killed".
"Lysistrata" assumes at least basically civilized marital relations—something that doesn't exist in Islam at all.
