When this story first broke, the Muslim community was quick to complain it felt "stressed" over the investigation -- not so much, apparently, over the suspects' disappearance or their potential victims. This, of course, has become standard operating procedure: try to deflect attention by claiming victim status, and silence the discussion by portraying any scrutiny from outside the community as a form of (or prelude to) persecution.

The RCMP have charged two Canadians with terrorism-related offences in connection to a 2009 plot to blow up packed subway cars in New York.
The RCMP allege that the al-Qaeda terrorists behind the plot were trained by a University of Manitoba student who has disappeared from Canada.
Ferid Imam vanished from Winnipeg in 2007 and is now suspected of being in the lawless mountains of northwestern Pakistan. He is now being sought on terrorist-training charges as part of a new criminal case.
The case, which alleges lesser offences by a second suspect, amounts to a crucial test of the reach of Canada’s Anti-Terrorism Act. Passed shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, it allows police to charge suspects who are suspected of committing terrorist offences outside Canada’s borders. The new case is the first time that the Mounties have charged someone with acts taking place entirely overseas.
Police hope the case against Mr. Imam – who faces a life sentence if he is caught and convicted of being a terrorist trainer – will alert the public about what they say is the growing threat posed by radicals from the West who want to join al-Qaeda and its affiliates.
The charges are new, but the investigation is not. Several counterterrorism agencies have been quietly hunting Mr. Imam over the years. But by obtaining warrants from a Winnipeg court on Monday, the Mounties have made the manhunt official – and laid a claim to the suspects by alleging they are fugitives from Canadian justice.
RCMP allege that Mr. Imam, while in Pakistan, had a role in training Najibullah Zazi – the Afghanistan-born New Yorker who has already pleaded guilty to plotting to bomb the subway system. [...]

Hey man - last summer I saw a burka clad muslima here on the waterfront in Nanaimo, BC. She was older - like 50 years old and protected and flanked by two - count them two - burly clean shaven 200 pound guys watching and waiting for her. I stood on my balcony giving them the finger for 23 minutes - yes I counted. Oh they saw me alright - they just slinked away back into the apartment/hotel next door that rents to anyone who can pay. I only saw them the one time and they never came back. I wonder why. My finger and weapons stand at the ready should they make an appearance.
It felt good standing there with my finger out - they saw my disgust and scurried away like cockroaches. I didn't say anything. They got the message. They didn't say anything - they just ran away. It made my day - it still feels good when I think about it.
I can't wait until it's open season. How else is this ammo gonna get used?

I believe it was the late, great Oriana Fallaci who said that muslims breed like rats. I agree to a certain extent but would like to point out that that statement gives too much credit to muslims and not enough to rats. When we have the occasional garbage workers' strike and garbage piles up in the streets, the rat population explodes in response to the increased "food" supply. When the strike ends and the streets are cleaned, the rat population goes down. That's rational and understandable. Muslims are oblivious to available and future food supplies in their "family planning". Procreate away in the cause of demographic jihad whether aware of it not. I am reminded of that BBC reporter in Pakistan last year during the floods who interviewed a poor farmer with 10 children whose family was starving. My scorn, not mt heart, went out to him. What kind of love is it to bring 10 kids into the world when you can barely feed yourself? If Islam had one ounce of goodness, the imams would point to the Chinese and say, "See what a one child policy has done for China. Practice back-door sex after one child." Such a statement would be sacrilige. In Canada, with its generous welfare system, the available food supply is near unlimited, continuous, and available in every province and territory. I'll see you up in the Yukon at the mosque in Whitehorse that was formerly St. Peter's Church.
