Terry Jones is neither a priest nor a Catholic, but the Islamic Republic's Ahlul Bayt News Agency cannot be expected to have mastered the intricacies of Christian sectarianism. But note in any case that we have never seen such outrage and indignation from Islamic ambassadors or any other Muslims regarding any of the jihad terror attacks and plots against non-Muslims in the U.S. or Europe. These so-called "hijackings" of their peaceful faith never seem to move them to this kind of outrage. Note also that the ambassadors are trying to use this incident to attempt yet again to restrict the West's freedom of speech regarding Islam, jihad and Islamic supremacism.
"Islamic countries ambassadors to Vatican condemn insult to Holy Quran," from the Ahlul Bayt News Agency, March 26 (thanks to Tom):
Islamic countries ambassadors to Vatican in a statement condemned insult to Holy Quran by an American priest. In a joint statement, the ambassadors condemned insult to the holy book and called the action disgusting.
Iran's ambassador to Vatican, in a letter to foreign minister of Vatican, by expressing deep sorrow over such indecent act, called for immediate action in taking stance and condemning the measure by Vatican.
An American priest, in a disgusting act, put Holy Quran on trial in a church in southeastern state of Florida, USA, and then burned it as, he declared, an element of killing and terror.
"Holy Quran"
The Qur'an is not holy.
Tell them, "We'll apologize for the koran burning as soon as you apologize for 9/11 and the Madrid bombings and the Moscow bombings and the Jerusalem bombing and the killing of Christians in muslim countries etc." and watch them erupt in a rage of accusations and threats. Or tell them we're sorry we can't burn all the korans in the whole country. Or tell them that the only thing sorry is their sorry excuse for a religion/government.
LOL LOL
Isn't that something like Satan demanding that Jesus worshipped him? It is a very old story and did not go well for Satan.
The Muslim have an advantage here in that they can put blame and demands where they see centralized authority, the way such matters are usually ordered in the West.
Whereas the Christians when churches and everything in them are destroyed, among the chaos that is islam only are offered hazy "misunderstanders" and a tiny minority.
I fail to see how the Vatican is connected to this though, either way it's a win-win situation for the Muslim ambassadors no matter what the Vatican has to say.
The Muslim have an advantage here in that they can put blame and demands where they see centralized authority.
Ever noticed how unstructured Islam is? It's almost organic how they're organized. They substitute the literal reading of the Ko-Ran for bureaucracy as the way to preserve unity.
I fail to see how the Vatican is connected to this...
Their predicate is that the Ko-Ran is as great a book as the Bible, and so it's between our HQ in Rome and the Jews' HQ in Jerusalem to apologize to their grievance.
It's the skull caps in Mecca calling, and they demand that this grievance be redressed.
Don't forget the time when that church (the Church of the Nativity, was it?) in Bethelehm was taken over by muslims and the church's centuries-old Bible was torn apart, its pages used as toilet paper. No muslim outcry over that desecration. Let alone an apology.
A simple burning is less of a desecration than that, now isn't it?
DH
Muslims love pushing the "I'm a victim" agenda..
Not a priest, imbeciles! Pastor Jones is ChiefRabbi of a 3000-strong Crusader Zionist Rafidite Triuniate Temple! --Would you believe 300 MSU Spartan fans? 30 disaffected amadhdis, ba'hais, and episcopalians??
in return can the Vatican send a few Ambassadors to mecca, and demand that their cleric,s condeme the burning of Bibles, flags and church,s.
The World no longer needs the UN. We need to regain our national Identity,s.
Each and every day one Mohammedan Sect blows up intentionally and willfully and maliciously mosques of another Mohammendan Sect and vice versa - including mucho korans, that are burnt, torn to pieces, maimend, wounded, killed. Poor korans.
But no Mohammedan gives a rat`s behind, because this is Mohammedan SOP. This game only changes - instantly -, when infidels come into play.
Mohammedans care shit about the koran - but they do care in forcing non-mohammedans to submit to their brutal Herrenmenschenideologie.
That's damn right! Herrenmenschenid--whatever. I just love the superior intellectual atmospherenideologie of this website!
"In a joint statement, the ambassadors condemned insult to the holy book and called the action disgusting."
Oddly they don't find Bible burning by Muslims disgusting...
"The point is clear in the case of Mohammed. He seduced the people by promises of carnal pleasure to which the concupiscence of the flesh goads us. His teachings also contain precepts that were in conformity with his promises, and he gave free rein to carnal pleasure. In all this, as is not unexpected, he was obeyed by carnal men. As for proofs of the truth of his doctrine, he brought forward only such as could be grasped by the natural ability of anyone with a very modest wisdom. Indeed, the truths that he taught he mingled with many fables and with doctrines of the greatest falsity. He did not bring forth any signs produced in a supernatural way, which alone fittingly gives witness to divine inspiration; for a visible action that can be only divine reveals an invisibly inspired teacher of truth. On the contrary, Mohammed said that he was sent in the power of his arms—which are signs not lacking even to robbers and tyrants. What is more, no wise man, men trained in things divine and human, believed in him from the beginning. Those who believed in him were brutal men and desert wanderers, utterly ignorant of all divine teaching, through whose numbers Mohammed forced others to become his followers by the violence of his arms. . . . he perverts almost all the testimonies of the Old and New Testaments by making them into fabrications of his own, as can be seen by anyone who examines his law. It was, therefore, a shrewd decision on his part to forbid his followers to read the Old and New Testaments, lest these books convict him of falsity. It is thus clear that those who place any faith in his words believe foolishly"
Pope Benedict XV declared: "The Church has declared Thomas' doctrines to be her own."
That long quote was from Thomas Aquinas, who is essentially THE DOCTOR of the Catholic Church.
There is a real danger here with having the Muslim world conflate all perceived anti-Muslim behavior by Christians as being at the direction of the Vatican. This risks exposing any Catholic or physical presence of the Catholic Church to a retaliatory attack. Rather than condemn it, the Vatican should disavow itself of actions like that by Terry Jones.
At the very least, this must have given the Pope a good hearty laugh.
I am not going to worry about this until I hear the Pope's answer (if any).
Twice before, Benedict has shown himself pretty well-informed on the Islamic game, while being unwilling to stir up trouble deliberately, yet able to state his case if he must.
"Terry Jones is neither a priest nor a Catholic, but the Islamic Republic's Ahlul Bayt News Agency cannot be expected to have mastered the intricacies of Christian sectarianism."
On a related note, I observe from Muslim attacks on me in forums that they don't get the whole concept that Christianity is not an entity like Islam.
They say Christianity did this and Christianity did that, but since Islam is a political entity, they don't understand the concept of a religion that is not political.
So where we can say Muslim countries and individuals did this and that because it is what Islam says they should do, people who happen to be from nations with Christians in the population, or even professing to do things in the name of Christianity, cannot be said to have done so because the Bible said to do it.
Even Flip Wilson knows the devil made him do it!
Hey muzzies, what about stopping the killings and rapings of christians first in dar ul-islam, in the muslim countries?
There is no limit to their arrogance. If that is not an omen of the upcoming collapse of islam...
Did anyone else otice the factual error in the Ahlul Bayt report seeing that the korans were never actually burnt. This smacks of picking at straws, the Muslim world can't get the UN to officially outlaw criticising Islam so now they're trying to get the Vatican to apologise for something that never actually happened. Daft.
I am getting old and the memory fades...but I seem to remember the IDF chasing some armed Muslims into a Church in Bethlehem several years ago where they held up for several days, stealing the priests' food and water. I do recall a report where they used the Christian Holy Bible as toilet paper when the need occurred - although I am quite sure it wasn't maliciously done (he wrote, tongue in cheek).
funny
To my mind, until and unless the OIC cares to address the fact that several of its member states( Pakistan, Sudan, Egypt and most notoriously Saudi Arabia) are the most intolerant of "dhimmi"(ie Christian, Hindu and Jewish-not that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia even allows avowed avowed Jews to enter its territory) faiths( Apropos of Saudi Arabia, Christian religious material- Bibles, rosaries et al-are routinely destroyed by the Saudi authorities, any protest made by the OIC about religious intolerance or bigotry will have the same Alice in Wonderland quality as the Soviet bloc or North Korea condemning political oppression elsewhere!
Terry
As the Vatican ALREADy condemned "Rev" Terry Jones's Koran burning stunt back in September last year(as did most Christian -including many evangelical-leaders, President Obama , Secretaries of State Clinton, and of Defence Gates, Army commander General David Petraeus, it's difficult to say what else can be done( oh, in February of this year, Jones was banned from the UK)
Terry
What a bunch of whining hypocrites.
How about this: Let a major islamic organization 'apologize' to hindus in India for destroying 1,000's of hindu temples and publicize the apology world-wide.
About Koran- burning? The musi's will get their condemnation from the vatican. I have on record pope John Paul 11 kissing the koran - I have never seen any Roman Pope kiss the Holy Scriptures. If you sleep with the devil you are bound to breed demons.
For your information, every Sunday the Catholic priest reads from the Gospels. When he finishes reading the Scripture, he says, "The gospel of the Lord," to which all respond, "Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ." Then the priest lifts and KISSES the book.
So if you ever actually went to a Catholic Mass or even watched a Papal Mass on TV, you would see popes kissing the Holy Scriptures.
Abisja reply to Grace Taylor. With a name such as "Grace" you should know what's it all about! Kissing the Bible in itself means a absolutely nothing - it's about knowing the contents of the Bible and the truth of it's teachings. You don't get the point - I am not trying to engage people to debate the rituals of any denomination! The point is: What message was John Paul passing on; after all there is only one Scripture and the Koran does not fall in that category. Here is another one for you to chew on: Speaker - Peter Kreeft: "Mohammad and Buhda is now in heaven, worshiping Mary"- this is a lie and yet people allow Kreeft to get away with statements like this.
The Vatican should tell the OIC to go back to pounding sand.
This article offers no real facts. Who is the priest? When did this occur? Where did this occur? What exactly happened? What/who corroborates the story? It is the most vague "news" story possible and merely a sloppy rehashing of old news, but its aim is all too clear: to incite Islamic violence. It is rationalization for more Islamic jihad, more murders, rapes, plunder, and desecration of non-Muslims.
