I tried to tell you. "Libyan rebel commander admits his fighters have al-Qaeda links," by Praveen Swami, Nick Squires and Duncan Gardham in the Telegraph, March 25 (thanks to Jonathan):
Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, the Libyan rebel leader, has said jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq are on the front lines of the battle against Muammar Gaddafi's regime. In an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr al-Hasidi admitted that he had recruited "around 25" men from the Derna area in eastern Libya to fight against coalition troops in Iraq. Some of them, he said, are "today are on the front lines in Adjabiya".
Mr al-Hasidi insisted his fighters "are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists," but added that the "members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader".
His revelations came even as Idriss Deby Itno, Chad's president, said al-Qaeda had managed to pillage military arsenals in the Libyan rebel zone and acquired arms, "including surface-to-air missiles, which were then smuggled into their sanctuaries".
Mr al-Hasidi admitted he had earlier fought against "the foreign invasion" in Afghanistan, before being "captured in 2002 in Peshwar, in Pakistan". He was later handed over to the US, and then held in Libya before being released in 2008.
US and British government sources said Mr al-Hasidi was a member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, or LIFG, which killed dozens of Libyan troops in guerrilla attacks around Derna and Benghazi in 1995 and 1996....
And I suggested the very same thing, as you might know, Robert.
. . . That ex-patriate Libyan and other veteran jihadists would likely return to Libya. Just as surely as the swallows return to San Juan Capistrano, up from Argentina, on or about March 19.
Say, isn't this LIFG now part of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Magreb (AQIM)?
Maghreb, that is.
We all did. And as I said earlier, we seem to feel that we're not destroying ourselves fast enough, so we decided to release the terrorist bastards who given the ability wouldn't hesitate to rape the women (or men, you never know their hypocritical tastes) we would die to defend, and murder everyone we ever loved.
Here's some advice:
//It is not a good idea to release criminals, murderers or people who wish to destroy our civilization of freedom - yes, even if they promise otherwise!! There is such a thing called lying!!!! So please don't release bad guys, but instead try to protect good guys (Jews in Israel, Christians all over Mid East, Buddhists in Thailand, Hindus in India) who don't actually hate our guts or want them spilled on the ground but want to be our friends.//
Sometimes going back to ABCs is necessary. This country forgot how to exist.

Does that mean we'll see an end to this sort of insanity?
"CNN celebrates jihad-martyrdom suicide bomber as hero"
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/03/cnn-celebrates-jihad-martyrdom-suicide-bomber-as-hero.html
Probably not...
All the more reason for dhimmified Western leaders to demonstrate how eager they are to assist the radicals over common sense.
While Qadaffi may be evil, to our values and principles, he is about par for an Arab/Muslim despot. I shall apologise for that observation, when the brave West takes on other tyrants that are killing and unjustly repressing their citizens, such as those in Yemen, Bahrain, Saudi, Syria, and perhaps even Iran. /sarc off
Another point worth a mention: Jizya is generally understood to be due as cash or goods, but it is also acceptable in the form of services rendered towards the furtherance of Islam. And what better service than the evil infidel doing Allah's dirty work?
This is likely far from the end of the world...
So don't go rushing about getting your panties in a knot...
Senegal, Mali, Niger, Chad, Mauretania, Morocco, Algeria--all are destabilized now that there are, apparently, new sanctuaries open to al-Qaida. AFRICOM will have more to worry about than daffy Ghaddafi, thanks to fickle, erratic President Obama of Kenya--ahmeen, the United States.
Bad enough that AQ has a foothold in Somalia, Yemen, and the Sinai peninsula.
"There is such a thing called lying!!!!"
Whaaaat?! Muslims don't lie! Islam means peace!
Yep, bad guys versus bad guys. Too bad there's not a way to get rid of all of them.
Well, there might be.
Surprise, surprise, and some day we hope that 'they' will discover that anyone believing the Muhammaden source material trifecta to be the infallible words and guidance of Allah and Allah's 'final' messenger that must be practiced up to kill or be killed devotion in order to find acceptance in this world and houris in the next is someone who should not be supported but boycotted until they no longer devote themselves to Muhammaden source materials.
Anyone for Obama-style dominoes?
NoBama 2012!
Yet another example of how this amateur, part-time President demonstrates that he's not on the same ideological *page* as most of the rest of us (Conservatives), and most Americans.
In previous administrations, WHOM we were considering supporting was a VERY serious consideration, due to the ramifications of possibly supporting enemies by mistake, or out of hasty "thrown together" actions.
Obama acts as if he could care less. Isn't the Administration currently looking for "moderate" voices inside of AQ to *deal* with? Or is that Hezbollah? Or Hamas? Or Iran? Or the Taliban? What difference does it make which Islamic supremacist group he wants to hold hands with??
He's utilizing the "Cliff's Notes," making hasty, politically correct decisions that bend over backwards to try and not *offend* anyone, and then he jets off for another very expensive holiday (in Rio) on the taxpayer dime.
What a mess.
The cartoonist Dry Bones actually drew a cartoon about this, long before the commander admitted having those links http://drybonesblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/nightmare-scenario.html Now, does this mean, that Sarkozy and BHO started an intervention on behalf of, erh, Al Qaida? Is this one of those famous "ironies of history"?
The Rasool Obama way to save Libyan lives is to kill Libyans...Similarly the way to get rid of Al-Qaeda is to back them in Libya...It all makes sense in an Rasoolian sort of way...
The US is now a weak country, we can start sht, but we can't finish it, we have to have Canada and France do it for us...
'A fine mess you have gotten us into Stanley'...
I don't think Gaddafi's murder of "civilians" has been out of line with the usual slaughter in any other Arab country.
And I hope AQ takes over. It'll give us something to nuke finally.
You know, in Holland, on leftist channels, and much more on Belgian TV, which always seems to be particularly anti-American to me, lately there were programmes denouncing all this past "Western Hypocrisy".
Shown were all those visits of Khadaffi to Western heads of state, and visits of them to him. Reiterated was the support for and weapon-sales to Khadaffi by Western governments and big business.
It was even said by Joris Luyendijk, supposedly independent observer, that Western reaction to Iranian risings was much more sympathetic than it was to risings against allies of the West, with which "the West did business". "Hypocritically, unscrupulously letting those allies cruelly oppress and exploit their innocent civilians". Luyendijk even dared to present Turkey as the one nation that from the first spurred the ("of course very democratic") rebels on.
And now, now that the UN, the Western nations, have declared they will try to protect Libyan civilians against their supposed ally Khadaffi, now again there is Outrage at Western behavior? Protest against it?
I can see Al Qaida is taking advantage, perhaps even power, but had the Western nations remained neutral and inactive, that would have confirmed those twisted leftist conspiracy-theories about "Western hypocrisy" on Dutch and Belgian TV.
Not to mention that neutrality and inactivity of Western nations would have confirmed twisted Islamic conspiracies about Western hypocrisy and support for dictatorship and even opposition to democracy and freedom for the people in the Islamic world.
Which by the way is what Noah Chomsky recently wrote. I kind of hoped that his article was now thoroughly refuted by the actions of the Western nations. Which may well be to their own short-term-detriment, because of the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaida.

Another nice job by our liberal Washington elite. Get rid of a bad enemy and replace him with a worse enemy and send the bill to us.
Of course, we can't expect the BBC to tell us any of this. One of the main reasons why Western civilization seems doomed sometime in the next 100 years or so is because of our penchant for aiding and abetting our worst enemies. We didn't do anything to help those protesting against the Iranian Government, but then again we let down the Shah in 1978/79, we've spent 44 years stopping the Israelis from finishing off their enemies, we helped the Kosovars and the rest of the Muslims in the former Yugoslavia by bombing the Serbs, we forced out Musharraf, undermined Mubarak (they might not have been pleasant but as Victor Davis Hanson says, our only choices are bad and worse), and now its the same with Gaddafi (it looks like the alternative to him is even worse). But the reason for all of this is political correctness and through PC we refuse to get to know the way they think, or refuse to admit to the fact that they're very different from Westerners thanks to Islam.
Changing regimes in an Islamist nation is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
NATO and Al Qaeda on the same side.
AGAIN
Oh, this is just so beautiful.
Hollywood should make it into a movie.
"NATO and Al Qaeda: The love that wouldn't die"
How about that for a title.
The US expends it's treasure bombing the crap out of Libya and al-Qaeda is secreting surface-to-air missles that can be used against the West. Obama's foreign policy is wrapping with a bow the tools of Western interests own destruction. Another way to look at it is by attacking the anti-aircraft missle batteries at least these won't end up in terrorist hands to shoot down commerical flights or American military aircraft. A man portable anti-aircraft weapon could be used to launch an attack on any commericial aircraft with a coastal airport from anything that floats. Either way, we're screwed.
"...Idriss Deby Itno, Chad's president, said al-Qaeda had managed to pillage military arsenals in the Libyan rebel zone and acquired arms, "including surface-to-air missiles, which were then smuggled into their sanctuaries".
al-Qaeda doesn't seem to think using these systems to shoot down the regime's aircraft that have been terrorizing the rebels and the civilian population of Libya. They saw the writing on the wall. The rebels were too unorganized and weak to win the civil war. Use it as cover to gain these valued weapons of terror. Now that the coalition is pinning down the regime's air power, their flight with these weapons is all but guarranteed.

This was an Islamic demo [see video clip] in London, Friday March 25,
(before the 'leftist'-trade union demo in London today):
"London Yesterday. Sharia for Libya - Sharia for the UK."

Mr al-Hasidi insisted his fighters "are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists," but added that the "members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader".
The syllogism is thus 1) good Moslems reject sins such as murder, theft and rape; 2) therefore good Moslems reject Allah and Mohammed; 3) as apostates, then, by Islamic law a good Moslem is a dead Moslem.
Maybe the left wing loons can understand this one? Then again, probably not!

Where are the Republican voices, to demand the impeachment of that suspected Islamic Trojan horse and Muslim Brotherhood agent Hussein Obama?! Hussein and his dhimmi goons, Sarkozi and Cameron (Cameron has betrayed the great Churchil legacy against Fascism) are supporting oil-grabbing Muslim terorists! What a great joke but nonetheless, an evil evil tragedy!

Unfortunately, Bingo, if we have been—insanely—supporting AQ as "freedom-fighting rebels" in Libya—and it appears that we are—then this is unlikely to happen.
More likely that the West and the Western media tie itself in knots for years to come trying to evade this very fact, while AQ, the Muslim Brotherhood, and assorted other arms of the Jihad become more established there.
"Yep, bad guys versus bad guys."
Indeed, Wellington. We're taking sides in what is essentially equivalent to a fight between Al Capone and John Dillinger, as someone said. It appears Gaddafi was right when he was bleating about the "rebels" being Al Qaeda. He should have been left alone to take out AQIM, and then let France, Britain and Italy deal with the fallout. We should have followed the Germans into refusing to be part of any NATO operation. It is outrageous that Obama let himself be guilted by Hillary Clinton, Samatha Power and Susan Rice into getting the U.S. involved on supposed "humanitarian" grounds.
Everything touched by Obama tends not to end well. This will be no different.
Afghanistan all over -- AGAIN! Seems like we NEVER learn. We always find a way to fall into a pile of shit -- this time it's camel shit! http://OsiSpeaks.com
OT, for DDA:
There is a wonderful interview of Jerry Pournelle your husband will undoubtedly enjoy (and if he's never heard Pournelle's voice before). Some things I didn't know about him before.

Siding with the muslims against Ghaddafi is like our allies siding with Stalin back in the Second War War. Once Ghaddafi is defeated, the muslims will betray their allies and turn on them.
Oh well, the follies of the U.S. are never ending no matter who is in the White House. Sadly, under the cumulative weight of its protracted failures, the US is hurrying its own destruction. My own mother who is not a very well educated woman, mind you, is amazed by the sheer stupidity of the American and Western governments vis-a-vie Islam.
How much more f***ed up can this situation get?
I'm currently traveling, looking in on CNN and BBC World in my hotel room.
Two choice comments on BBC World to report. A journo, talking of the Libyan rebels - so-called - says in a quizical tone "there SEEMS to be an islamic component to these rebels..."
on a roundtable, I didn't get the guy's name, but he says, again of the libyan rebels, "there are 'bad' islamic extremists, and 'good' islamic extremists. these guys are good islamic extremists."
it absolutely beggars belief. another shill for the caliphate from the BBC...they may as well stick a massive green dome on top of television centre in london and be done with it...
