Peter King gets security upgrade after hostile phone calls, threats from overseas

It has turned out to be quite instructive that after all of organizers' most over-the-top efforts to ensure Rep. King's hearings are virtually free from potentially controversial opinions about Islam and the behavior of Muslims, the opposition has nonetheless continued to be so ferocious. It bears repeating again: They doth protest too much.

Despite what a love-fest for "moderate Islam" these hearings might have been and may yet still be (for policy still depends largely on faith in a moderate Islam that can and will act vigorously as a bulwark against "extremism"), King is also now hearing from the jihad's best logicians, who demand:

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Long Island Congressman Peter King is facing threats — and getting extra security.

But he vowed Monday to forge ahead with controversial hearings on radicalization in the Muslim-American community, reports CBS 2’s Tony Aiello.

King was heavily criticized at a weekend rally in Times Square.

“American Muslims are part of the American family and are Americans, too!” Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf said.

But the congressman was strongly supported at a smaller rally nearby.

“Imam Rauf and his friends are trying to create a phony trumped-up civil rights movement,” one King supporter said.

“I want to show the extent of that radicalization, how it happens. Also whether or not the Muslim community is fully cooperating,” Rep. King said.

Every Homeland Security chair gets protection, but King’s has been stepped up in the wake of threats — some generated by the controversy over the hearings.

“I’m getting a lot of hostile phone calls now, but the main threats I’m getting are from overseas,” Rep. King said.

King said he views his effort in the same vein as 1995 Senate hearings into the white militia movement, which took place right after the Oklahoma City terror bombing.

“And they were gathering support, and I thought it was important to investigate them,” King said.

King also said he promises to hear from a wide-range of voices, including Muslims that oppose the hearings, but intend to participate.

Among the figures invited to testify by Democrats is the sheriff of Los Angeles County, who is seen as a close ally of the Muslim community.

There is clear reason to question the loyalty of Moslem-Americans, given the mountain of evidence in Europe that speaks to Moslem hostility against the governments there and the repetition of such patterns of behavior on this side of the pond.

Posted to an earlier story about the King hearing, posting again here.

I just finished watching a Spitzer-Parker segment on CNN about the King hearings. Elliot Spitzer interviewed two guests about the hearings: First on was Brigitte Gabriel, and she was followed by the 9/11 mosque imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf.

I very rarely swear or yell, but for 30 minutes I did little else. Spitzer was condescending and insulting toward Gabriel, trying his best to discredit her attempts to explain how what King is doing is in response to actions of Muslim Americans that are fully in line with standard Islam. Spitzer pulled some snatches of Gabriel's speeches out of context, such as Muslims regarding Jews as "apes and pigs" and then proceeded to laugh when she tried to explain that these were not her expressions, but ones that came from the Qur'an. Gabriel retained her composure throughout in spite of the open sneering and mockery she was subjected to by Elliot Spitzer.

By way of contrast, Spitzer treated "Imam" Rauf with the utmost deference and respect, openly telling him and the audience how much he disagreed with the previous guest (Gabriel) and how much he and millions of thoughtful Americans admired the efforts of peaceful Muslims like the good Imam to reach out to other faiths.

As I write this I am still somewhat hoarse from shouting and swearing at the TV, and very, very upset by this public demonization of Brigitte Gabriel dished out on CNN. After I calmed down a bit I sent a monetary donation to ACT! for America http://www.actforamerica.org/ , which is the organization she runs similar to Robert's JihadWatch and Pamela Geller's Atlas Shrugs.

JW readers are familiar with both Brigitte Gabriel and Faisal Rauf. The first is a fearless antijihad warrior who, like Robert and Pamela, is the target of relentless attacks by the Left. The second is a taqiyya bullshit artist.

FWIW, Elliot Spitzer is the former Democratic Governor of New York. He was a rising political star within the Democratic Party, and was mentioned as being of presidential material, until he was forced to resign 2008 after being involved in a prostitution scandal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliot_Spitzer_prostitution_scandal . After being forced out of office in disgrace he was picked up by CNN and now has his own show, which he shares with Kathleen Parker, another liberal talking head. What a disgusting cretin.

What precisely are the “hearings” that have been organised by Congressman King?

Are they similar to courtroom proceedings? Are they meant to investigate law breaking or a threat to the American Constitution? Incidentally, how do they fit into the American Constitution.

I think it's a long time coming. People of America need to remember these pigs of the desert have been killing us for many years. They started he Crusades and only scram and yell like it was the Crusades that destroyed their dhimmi peace. They allied with Hilter and Hizbollah to this day salute in hitleresque style(always lower case to show my anger at him killing my relatives). Of all people that should be given a taste of their own medicine I hope soon we can deport them all, maybe tax them to death, turn their mosques into pig stys,pork factories,or kill houses for our military. One can only hope Peter King can sow (as if we can't see it) liberals/commie socialist/lame brained time warped bongo beating hippies just what their nefarious plans are for America and Israel. Two concepts that people seem to be shying away from regarding our American Constitution are the issues of treason and/or sedition.
From the Constitution, Article III, Section 3: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort...."
When you have Muslim proponents of First Amendment rights using them to deflect attention from bigger issues such as the hearings are supposed to address, there is a serious problem with our own culture.
Levying war is a no-brainer. But what about the issue of adhering to the enemies of America as it is constituted, giving them aid and comfort?
Forget grape koolaid. Seems many are gulping taqiyyas (bad pun, tequila) and are drunken with the dizzying spin. Big deal, so zakat money has been tied to financing terrorism...the Islamic Thinkers Society of NY is willing to sponsor Choudary's (no-show) White House rally (shariah4america.com) calling for revolution in America and the establishment of an Islamic State here...billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed financed a Harvard "Islamic Legal Studies" program which is a bulwark for learning shariah (i.e. the superiority of this foreign law) in America...Saudi textbooks used in U.S. Islamic schools (like VA's Islamic Saudi Academy) STILL teach inflammatory rhetoric to students that advocates hatred and jihad violence towards non-Muslims and the superiority of Islam... Hands off Islam it's protected by the First Amendment!
These examples are just the tiny tip of the iceberg. "Civilizational jihad" is real, much more insiduous and lethal than your Allahu Akbar!/levying war jihad. It is a clear and present danger to our country, having infiltrated America to its very core. It should be identified and criminalized for what it is: not a 'First Amendment' issue but a dire threat to national security.
Sigh. These hearings are just looking like window-dressing, nothing more substantial.
Keep up the awesome work, Robert Spencer, and all other like-minded people who stand for truth regardless of the cost.

I read an opinion piece in the NY Times (I think it was today's Times but not sure), wherein a Muslim states that he welcomes the Peter King hearings because Muslims have nothing to hide. This statement reminds me of Qaddafi saying, "My people love me."

Apparently, the opinionator's and Mr. Qaddafi's mother never told the kids that honesty is the best policy. Nor were they told, "It's not whether you win or lose it's how you play the game."

It's no fun playing with a cheater whether it be Qaddafi or Elliot Spitzer. The only thing you can really say in response to them is "Lyer, lyer pants on fire," which in the case of Mr. Spitzer is certainly quite true.
