King must be taken aback that Muslim groups are still railing against the hearings. Organizers have bent over backwards after bullying from CAIR to purge the schedule of speakers that might not hew to the line that Islam is a Religion of Peace victimized by "hijackers" from within and Islamophobes from without.
Indeed, CAIR doth protest too much. And Muslim groups in America have shown more outrage and a greater capacity to mobilize over King's hearings than over any attempted or successful jihadist atrocity.
It has been an instructive display of priorities. "King Claims Common Ground With White House on Islam Hearings, Blames CAIR for Backlash," from Fox News, March 7:
The nation's largest Muslim advocacy group and other organizations are stoking opposition to a hearing planned later this week in Washington which will delve into the threat posed by Islamic radicalization.
But Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee hosting the hearing, said Monday that he's on the same page as the White House when it comes to addressing that threat and engaging moderates in the American Muslim community.
"I'm not going to give into political correctness. I'm going ahead," King told Fox News.
Ahead of Thursday's hearing, hundreds of protesters gathered Sunday in Times Square to accuse King of unfairly targeting Muslims. The event featured celebrities like hip hop mogul Russell Simmons and was backed by a slew of religious organizations and leaders.
King, though, pinned blame for the backlash on the Council on American Islamic Relations. Noting CAIR's history as an "unindicted co-conspirator" in a terrorist funding case, King said CAIR is exactly the kind of group Muslim leaders should "push aside."
CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper acknowledged his organization has been organizing opposition to the hearing "from the very beginning," but said the backlash is broad-based.
"We'd like to take credit for being the sole opposition to his witch hunt, but in fact it's actually, literally hundreds of interfaith and community groups, civil liberties organizations who are opposed to these hearings in their current form," Hooper said, adding that his organization continues to be concerned about "bias" at the upcoming hearing.
With his hearing, the New York congressman said he's simply taking "the logical next step" beyond what the White House has discussed. [...]
King said he's "not generating fear" but just "stating the facts."
He plans to call several witnesses, including the uncle of a Minneapolis man who linked up with a terror group in Somalia and is believed to have been killed. He also plans to call the father of a man alleged to have killed a soldier at an Arkansas military recruiting center in 2009.
There has been a string of terror cases involving U.S. citizens in recent years. Justice Department data obtained by Fox News shows there has been a "class-one" terrorism case -- the highest designation for a terrorism case -- involving a U.S. citizen every two weeks, on average, since January 2009.
An August 2010 background report showed 21 U.S. citizens were charged in such cases in 2009 and another 20 were charged in 2010 between January and August.
The hearing has generated much debate and publicity. The congressman on Sunday squared off against Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the first Muslim elected to the House, on CNN's "State of the Union."
Ellison said that while it's proper to investigate radicalization, he thinks it is wrong to single out a religious minority.
"If we're going to talk about gang violence, I don't think it's right to talk about, you know, only the Irish community and the Westies. I think we talk about gang violence. I think, if we're going to talk about organized crime, it's not right to just talk about the Russian community," Ellison said Sunday.
False analogy. Who wages Islamic jihad, the bass player from the youth Mass? No.
King must be taken aback that Muslim groups are still railing against the hearings.
Maybe if he'd picked up the phone and gave Spencer a jingle, he woulda realized the inevitabilit of Moslem whining and complaining - especially when it comes to criticism (Afak, Marwan).
King said he's "not generating fear" but just "stating the facts."
This is the key. This is the key to our survival. However, it ain't gonna be easy cuz of all the taquiyya, tuquoque and 6th Pillar action going on nowadays in America.
But good luck.
I'm not going to give into political correctness. I'm going ahead.
Dammit, Pete. Youj dropped the key down the manhole cover on the first try.
Rep. King blames CAIR for backlash against hearings, says they are the kind of group Muslim leaders should "push aside"
...
"I'm not going to give into political correctness. I'm going ahead," King told Fox News.
...................................
Actually, Congressman King has been doing little *but* giving in to political correctness. But it's great to see him drawing the line somewhere.
So to summarize: King gives in to every CAIR demand, yet claims to be standing up to CAIR, while at the same time claiming to be “on the same page as the White House,” even though the White House has ignored this completely. All while claiming to be against “political correctness.”
King: time to get back on the meds…
I don't think it's right to talk about, you know, only the Irish community and the Westies.
I like the analog to street gangs brought forth by this Afro-American revert, and Rep Keith is right: it is wrong to talk about the Irish and the Westies. They lacked many very important things Moslems don't, which is why they disappeared and the Moslems are splashed all over the news. After 1,400 yrs of making headlines.
There is no 'nice' solution to the Muslim problem. Anyone in the West who claims to be a Muslim is, by definition, declaring war on his host nation ('host' used in the sense of host/parasite) . We need to purge the enemy within from positions where they can sabotage our society while we still can.
****grins, having fun*****
Sorry Pig Farmer. You and the writers of JihadWatch were wrong and King was right.
You assumed that CAIR and the other Muslim interest groups would see that the hearings had been declawed, and follow the sensible strategy of just letting them die a natural death.
We all forgot two things about the Muslim groups like CAIR. One, is that their arrogance at being the only true religion always makes them overplay their hand; and two, like other special interest groups, they actually cater more to the emotions of their dues-paying constituency.
The beauty of the present situation is that after King has obviously given in to every demand short of closing down, the Muslim groups are still organizing full-tilt against him, as if he has a witness list limited to the Jewish Defense League.
This alienates not only King and a large group of on-the-fence Congresspeople, who are undoubtedly aware of King's concessions, but leaves the defenders of Islam out on a plank, defending an undefendable position. They are put in the position of claiming that the IRA is as much a danger to the US as Muslim terrorists.
Now, they do have a point in stating that Russian, Mexican, and other organized crime groups pose a threat to the US as well. Hopefully, groups like this will also get more attention, but they are second in priority right now. I don't know of any other organized crime group other than Islamic ones that are attempting to smuggle atomic bombs into the US.

Stop floundering around and contact Robert Spencer. You're being intimidated by the Mohammedans. You need help. You need to call in the Big Guns, and that's Spencer, whom all the lying Muzlims fear for his knowledge and refusal to be intimidated.
As usual they bring out the tired phrase "witch hunt" to marginalize the threats of islamic jihad. Witches are fantasy being with no evidance of their existance unless you count people who claim to be one even though they can't do any impossible magical feats. They tie them in with jihadist who are real people and are active every day all over the world. These jihadist are the real deal, they are the demon worshipping and death worshipping disciples of a dark god. They need to be exposed and tied with islam every day in every news media.
In reference to King's hearing, CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper stated, "We'd like to take credit for being the sole opposition to his witch hunt, but in fact it's actually, literally hundreds of interfaith and community groups, civil liberties organizations who are opposed to these hearings in their current form."
So now Hooper is calling the hearings a "witch hunt!?" Interesting how he is so adept at "spinning" the truth to suit the "witch agenda"...but he may be on to something here! A good old fashioned "witch hunt" is exactly what this country needs. King could rally all of the "hundreds" of "witch hating" interfaith, community, and civil liberty groups across America in support of our "witch outreach!" What a great idea...thanks for bringing it up Hooper. With a little luck we might be done burning all the "witches" at the stake by this coming Halloween. (sarcasm)
Jihad is an 'obligatory duty' incumbent on 'all' Mahoundians...it is not an elective...Case closed...Loadem up, shipem out...
Hmm. Muslims rally against King, not jihad. Seems clear to me.
This alienates not only King and a large group of on-the-fence Congresspeople, who are undoubtedly aware of King's concessions.
Sometimes I wonder if Moslems are high enough on the average congressperson's list to have even noticed. Except for Rep Myrick R-NC maybe.
RolandB has some good points. It behooves Hooper and his ilk to end the hearings before they start because no matter how hard CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood try to control the information coming out of them there is bound to be some unsavory evidence that will put them in a bad light and wake up sleeping Americans even further. The Americans I know who used to be sick of me telling them about the dangers of Islam are now sick of big news stories about jihadis trying to blow things up in our country and little stories about Muslims whining because they didn't get something they think they are entitled to. With the gas and food prices going up daily we don't want to hear about how some Muslim is suing the local pool because his wife could go swimming in her bedspread.
No, just the threat of a hearing has brought every big mouthed Muslim within flying distance out of the woodwork. Their best defense is a good offense.
Stop floundering around and contact Robert Spencer. You're being intimidated by the Mohammedans. You need help. You need to call in the Big Gun...
Pete King can't do that for fear of what would happen if he did. There would be big trouble, and the trouble would start with Spencer. He would testify truthfully about the scriptures, the Hadiths the Sira and Moslem history, both contemporary and before. He would tell the truth, and he would back them with acknowledged facts, as is his habit.
Then all hell would break loose, a national uproar, with nasty arguments ensuing, pulling reluctant experts into the televised discourse like that petrodollar whore from GougeTown U and that ex-nun from Crumbia U.
And of course a ton of ad hominem would be leveled at all non-Dhimmi Infidels.
Maybe even a lawsuit or two would be filed. Outrage! I hope that doesn't happen, though, cuz nobody can deliver on terrible gubmint like our actual law school graduates wearing black robes, who as a class are institutionalized crooks (i.e., they are Progressives, a turnspeak name if there ever was one).
I still think Congressman Allen West should organize a public hearing about the threat of Islam. With Islam, you're damned if you do, and damned of you don't. So, what's to lose.
Open the whole poisonous can of Islamic worms in public. And have a public hearing every 6 months, or so.
Like Isabella the Crusader, I have tended to think that your analysis that Rep. Pete King has been playing his politics as a necessary evil is basically correct. His comments yesterday show that he is not going to completely back down, and so his compromises to date - while worrisome - do serve the good outcome you describe. Sometimes political reality requires small but determined efforts that cause the opposition to overplay their cards.
I do think that stating "..[it] leaves the defenders of Islam out on a plank, defending an undefendable position" may be too optimistic. Yes, it is correct as far as it goes, and we certainly will notice it, but the MSM will do everything to obscure that plank. We may need to console ourselves with another incremental victory in public opinion. That is not a bad thing.
I was reading the Washington Post this morning (no insults necessary) and nearly fell off the throne when I saw Eugene Robinson's hatchet job. This has to be one of the most shameful op-ed pieces ever, so full of outright lies and misleading half-truths that is is almost (almost, I said) unbelievable.

Mr. Spencer mentioned:
...Muslim groups in America have shown more outrage and a greater capacity to mobilize over King's hearings than over any attempted or successful jihadist atrocity...it has been an instructive display of priorities.
Spot on. They care more about covering up the truth about the nature of Islam. While they outwardly claim that Islam is a peaceful "religion," when arguably it is neither peaceful or really even a "religion," few are those who are capable or really even willing to speak out against jihadist atrocities, because they can't get around the fact that the jihadists are using Islamic scriptures verbatim to justify their Islamism and violence. In Islam, the Koran, Allah, and Muhammad are apparently "off limits" for criticism.
If you are even perceived to be negative or critical about any of the aforementioned, of if even someone who doesn't like you falsely accuses you of it (especially if you're a woman and thus unable to challenge anything a man says to you, since according to the Koran a woman is only worth 1/2 that a man is) and you are living in an Islamic hellhole, that is an automatic death sentence by mob stoning under the Sharia, for you have committed a "thought crime." Since the Koranic scriptures are "off limits," no Muslim will criticize their fellow Muslim justifying their own scriptures for holy war, because they would risk estrangement and probably death fatwas put out on them by their own Muslim community.
Funny how this is similar very much to the state of socialist academia where conservatives are punished for not having the "correct" views on campus or for "causing offence" by being conservative and expressing views that merely offend others, to say nothing of the sordid state of affairs across the pond in dhimmi coward Britainland where you get charged with "incitement" and they have anti-free speech "hate speech" laws.
This is America is the best and greatest country in the world, because we have First Amendmemnt rights, because we never ever have to worry about "whom we might offend" before speaking or writing, because we have the power and the gutso to defend to the death the right to speak out against Islam and their leftist stooges such as all academia.
ISLAM STIGMATIZES ISLAM: OBAMA AND THE PETER KING HEARINGS
In a predictable reaction to Peter King's House hearings on Islamic radicalization in America, an obvious problem given the recent record surge in Moslems arrested for plotting domestic mass murder attacks*, Peter McDonough, deputy national security advisor to President Obama, said this: "Radicalization efforts prey on people who feel disillusioned or marginalized and that it is important not to fuel radicalization by stigmatizing Muslim Americans." Mr. McDonough and his clueless boss seem oblivious to the fact that it is ISLAM THAT STIGMATIZES ISLAM. Their oblivious that Islam has had a public relations problem with the infidel world from its inception 1400 years ago-since its prophet disillusioned with peacefully spreading his faith and marginalized within the Meccan community for attacking its religion as sinful, personally damning and violently hated by God, picked up the sword to save his failing movement; picked it up in rage against all infidels who scorned him and cried: 'Believe in me or die! Believe in me or die! And if it pleases me to let you live I'll crush you with oppression!' Since that fatal day when Mohammed lost his mind and was radicalized into a killing machine for God Islam has become the terror and scourge of mankind-slashing, burning and murdering its way to power, glory and empire in imitation of its bloodthirsty, ruthless, predatory founder. Islam means endless war against mankind until it's conquered and subdued. It means lawlessness and immorality in pursuit of absolute power. And the number of Moslems who believe in it are legion.

as much energy these muslim orgs spend moaning and groaning, if they spend a fraction of it seeing the problem we will all live in harmony. but no they have to moan
"If we're going to talk about gang violence, I don't think it's right to talk about, you know, only the Irish community and the Westies. I think we talk about gang violence. I think, if we're going to talk about organized crime, it's not right to just talk about the Russian community," Ellison said Sunday.
What planet does Ellison live on?
If one is going to talk about gang violence, one talks about Black gangs and Latino gangs, and, yes, Moslem gangs like the Somali ones in Ellison's Twin Cities bailiwick. The "Irish community and the Westies" -- huh? Who, or what are the "Westies"? Some local outfit in Minneapolis?
And organized crime: while the Russian "Mafia" is a problem, it's pretty small beer compared to the Mexican, Columbian, and Black crime rings. And all of them pale in comparison to the international Islamic crime ring that's been thriving for 1400 years, ever since having been founded by Mo hisself. Or maybe Ellison's remark about the Russians refers to the "international communist conspiracy" of Russian Bolshevik days, but I doubt that, since all good leftists like Ellison always assured us that conspiracy was merely a figment of the fevered imagination of the right-wingers.
It's interesting that Ellison complains about King "singling out" Moslems, and then does exactly the same thing in his comparison. And then he picks rather minor groups in each case, implying by analogy that the Moslem threat to American security is as trivial as the threat from the "Westies", whoever or wherever they might be.
You wrote - "What planet does Ellison live on?"
Islam-O-World. Where else?
1. If your observations transcend the reality of the place you are at, you just might be a Muslim.
2. If you lie about your faith every time someone is critical of it, you just might be a Muslim.
3. If you are constantly on the defensive about some inhuman activity of your fellow believers, you just might be a Muslim.
4. If you don't mind that the founder of your faith married a little girl at age 6 and then raped her at age 9, you just might be a Muslim.
5. If you overthrow the dictatorship in your country and then establish an Islamic dictatorship which is more oppressive, you just might be a Muslim.
I could go on and on, but I caution that while all Muslims are not necessarily crazy, it sure helps if you are.

this isn't the 1950's. ellison's talking about "gang violence" and drawing an obsolete analogy, it would make more sense if he were to say "crips, bloods, latin kings, gangster disciples, folk nation, black p stones" but then again those gangs are largely black and in the latter 3 cases heavily muslim
I just finished watching a Spitzer-Parker segment on CNN about the King hearings. Elliot Spitzer interviewed two guests about the hearings: First on was Brigitte Gabriel, and she was followed by the 9/11 mosque imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf.
I very rarely swear or yell, but for 30 minutes I did little else. Spitzer was condescending and insulting toward Gabriel, trying his best to discredit her attempts to explain how what King is doing is in response to actions of Muslim Americans that are fully in line with standard Islam. Spitzer pulled some snatches of Gabriel's speeches out of context, such as Muslims regarding Jews as "apes and pigs" and then proceeded to laugh when she tried to explain that these were not her expressions, but ones that came from the Qur'an. Gabriel retained her composure throughout in spite of the open sneering and mockery she was subjected to by Elliot Spitzer.
By way of contrast, Spitzer treated "Imam" Rauf with the utmost deference and respect, openly telling him and the audience how much he disagreed with the previous guest (Gabriel) and how much he and millions of thoughtful Americans admired the efforts of peaceful Muslims like the good Imam to reach out to other faiths.
As I write this I am still somewhat hoarse from shouting and swearing at the TV, and very, very upset by this public demonization of Brigitte Gabriel dished out on CNN. After I calmed down a bit I sent a monetary donation to ACT! for America http://www.actforamerica.org/ , which is the organization she runs similar to Robert's JihadWatch and Pamela Geller's Atlas Shrugs.
JW readers are familiar with both Brigitte Gabriel and Faisal Rauf. The first is a fearless antijihad warrior who, like Robert and Pamela, is the target of relentless attacks by the Left. The second is a taqiyya bullshit artist.
FWIW, Elliot Spitzer is the former Democratic Governor of New York. He was a rising political star within the Democratic Party, and was mentioned as being of presidential material, until he was forced to resign 2008 after being involved in a prostitution scandal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliot_Spitzer_prostitution_scandal . After being forced out of office in disgrace he was picked up by CNN and now has his own show, which he shares with Kathleen Parker, another liberal talking head. What a disgusting cretin.
Good job Eastview!
Just want to add my two cents on Elliot Spitzer.
Before his fall from grace, Elliot Spitzer was probably the most dangerous man in America. As NY Attorney General he instigated several high profile prosecutions against people in the financial industry; all of these cases that went to appeal were overturned. He would use his prosecutorial powers to bring charges with flimsy evidence and specious legal interpretations, then he would bully defendants into incriminating each other in exchange for leniency. The was all done to grab headlines and campaign donations.
This man is power mad and has no scruples. He is worthy of inclusion in the tradition of Aaron Burr, Huey Long, and Joe McCarthy. He has been protected and enabled by the MSM, and they now offer him a platform to continue his bullying of the decent and law-abiding citizens of this country.
Everyone should keep their eyes on Elliot Spitzer, repeat these facts for all to hear, and boo him down at every opportunity.
