Senator Kyl at Durbin Muslim victimhood hearings: “Political correctness cannot stand in the way of identifying those who would do us harm”

Common sense cutting through the enveloping fog of politically correct disinformation. “GOP senator turns the tables at Muslim rights hearing,” by Stephanie Condon for CBS News, March 29:

Defenders of Muslim civil rights went to Capitol Hill today to ask the federal government to stem what they say is a rising tide of anti-Muslim discrimination. Yet for one Republican senator, the real question was whether Muslim advocacy groups are doing enough to help the government curb Islamic extremism.

Today’s Senate hearing, led by Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.), is the first in Congress to explore Muslim civil rights. It is intended to show that most Muslim Americans “are patriotic, law abiding people who simply want to live their life as we do,” Durbin said today.

Republican Sen. Jon Kyl (Ariz.), however, questioned the need for the hearing and suggested one of the groups testifying could do more to cooperate with the government.

“I’m a bit perplexed by the focus” of the hearing, Kyl said, in light of the fact that most religious hate crimes in the United States are committed against Jews.

“The point is, all bigotry is to be condemned,” Kyl said. “Selective indignation is not helpful.”

Today’s hearing comes about three weeks after a controversial House hearing on the radicalization of Muslim Americans that critics said unfairly portrayed the Muslim community. Farhana Khera, the executive director of the group Muslim Advocates, testified in today’s hearing that “in the last several months, anti-Muslim rhetoric has reached a disturbing new level.” He said political leaders have jumped into the fray with sweeping, critical statements about Islam.

While Khera whines about rhetoric, Muslims are brutalizing and persecuting Christians in Egypt, Pakistan, and elsewhere. But that receives no notice from the likes of Khera.

Kyl defended the hearing over Muslim radicalization today, saying, “Political correctness cannot stand in the way of identifying those who would do us harm.” He questioned whether Khera’s organization was committed to helping root out extremist elements of Islam, given that its website advises Muslims to consult a lawyer before speaking with the FBI about violent extremism.

“I would think Muslim Americans would feel a special obligation to help in such investigations,” Kyl said….

Good on Sen. Kyl, for whom I’ve voted several times. I wish he weren’t retiring after his current term. That notwithstanding …

I would think Muslim Americans would feel a special obligation to help in such investigations.

Given what I’ve learned about Islam and its adherents, I wouldn’t think that at all. After all, as OIC General Secretary Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu pointed out in a speech at Columbia University on Sept. 26, 2008:

The Muslim Ummah, means the ‘community of the faithful’. It is a unique bond that has no similar example under any other political or religious system in the world. It is a belonging to ideals which bring Muslims together in an eternal brotherhood lock which transcends all other consideration of allegiance or loyalties or barriers of nationhood, ethnicity, geography or language.

Hence, there is in fact no such thing as a “Muslim American” — a fact implicitly acknowledged by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the compound modifier in whose name is used advisedly.

  2. says

Muslim Americans “are patriotic, law abiding people who simply want to live their life as we do,” Durbin said today.

I couldn’t agree more. And while we’re at it, let’s spare some thought for another misunderstood and demonized minority, the modern day Nazis. Most Nazis in America want nothing more than to be left to get on with their activities of non-violent global conquest, compassionate enslavement of inferior peoples, and peaceful extermination of the Jews.

Consequently we need to counteract the climate of Naziphobia by implementing the following measures:

    – An end to Naziphobia in the media, especially war films showing the Nazis in a bad light.

    – Tax exemption for all places of Hitler-worship including airfields, munitions factories, extermination camps etc.

    – Destruction of all blasphemous cartoons of Adolf Hitler(pbuh) produced in the Second World War.

    – An apology from the British government for the campaign of Naziphobia waged by Winston Churchill, and the hurt feelings inflicted on the Afrika Korps at El Alamein by the Naziphobic bigot Montgomery.

    – An apology from the American government for the insensitivity by the raging Naziphobe Eisenhower in failing to forewarn Nazi community leaders of the D-Day landings, which caused much distress among the peaceloving Nazis holidaying in Northern France.

    – Burning ‘Mein Kampf’ must become a hate crime punishable by hanging with piano wire.

    – Application of our parallel legal system known as ‘The Gestapo’ must be enforced in so-called ‘democratic’ countries.

    – We demand affirmative action, in the interests of community cohesion, to promote Nazis to high positions in the security services.

    – We demand government funding for the expansion of our youth activities, which play a vital role in keeping the younger generation out of trouble, and concentrate their minds on wholesome activities such as rallies, processions, camps, pogroms etc.

    – The occasional Blitzkrieg invasions of sovereign states must not be portrayed in the media as being typical of Nazis as a whole, since this leads to Naziphobia. Rather they must be shown to be the work of a tiny minority of extremists who have hijacked a peaceful spiritual movement.

Let this be a lesson to those who insist both parties are equally dhimmified. The Republicans have their share of dhimmis, but they also have Peter King, John Kyle, Tom Tancredo, Rick Santorum and others who are out in front in the struggle against Islam.

Where are similar voices among the Dems? Fact is, there are none.

  4. says

    From the article:
‘While Khera whines about rhetoric, Muslims are brutalizing and persecuting Christians in Egypt, Pakistan, and elsewhere.’

I would like to change Robert’s one line as follows:

While Khera whines about rhetoric, Muslims are brutalizing and persecuting NON-MUSLIMS in Egypt, Pakistan, and elsewhere.

Hindus in pakistan, Sikhs in afghanistan and Budhhists in Thailand are also dying because of muslim brutality.

  5. says

I lucked out and caught the hearings by mistake. All was just a crock. However the only clear answer Ms.Farhana Khera gave(while trying to avoid the question) was when asked about the statement on her/their org’s web site, was that she stood firmly behind whatever was written there. The statement was “when approached by the FBI, do not cooperate/answer questions until your lawyer is present.” So once again some religions have immunity from our laws? But she just said that muslums are “fine upstanding law-abideing citizens.” I’m soooo confused……

  6. says

I hope they call Molly Norris as a “surprise!” witness..along with some of her motoons..But that would only make Durbin have to contradict the Constitution that he swore to uphold..Can’t have THAT now can we?
Go anyway Molly..Wear a veil..Then unveil yourself and state your name(shout would be better,no?),and tell them what happened! Have some fun for a change! Transpose Durbin into a mo-Durbin in a courtroom caricature! Btw where are you? Right..Nevermind..Hope all’s well wherever you are..

  7. says

Muslims have claimed this phony victimhood status right from day one in Mecca. While they have claimed being victims they have killed more than 350 million non-Muslims world wide in last 1400 years. Watch out their strategy works – it will work here also thanks to clueless people like Durbin in our country. Poor Meccans didn’t know what killed them nor do our politicians know what is going to kill us!!!

  8. says

    Good work Sean…

It is intended to show that most Muslim Americans “are patriotic, law abiding people who simply want to live their life as we do,” Durbin said today.

If there was an award for the most stupid comment of the day…it should go to Dick…All Mahoundians are ‘obligated’ to jihad as a ‘duty’…Someone should mention that to Dick…

  9. says

If there is any real anti-Moslem activity in America, where are the victims? They sure seem to be awfully thin on the ground. I’m talking about real victims, not just some Moslem woman who thinks somebody was sneering at her burkha. The FBI’s report on terrorism from 1980 to 2005 attributes about 95% of the fatalities to Moslem violence. Actual Moslem victims were non-existant, apart from some killed on 9-11 by other Moslems.
Moslems MAKE victims, they’re rarely victims themselves, except at the hands of other Moslems.

  10. says

Hey if the Nazis want “respect” I have the solution. Convert to Islam. Then they can indulge themselves in all of their pet hatreds with “a get out of jail free” card. It would be fun to see the media, other pointy headed intellectuals and pusillanimous pipsqueak politicians like Durbin twist themselves into pretzels dealing with this one.

  11. says

And who do the Muslims have to blame but themselves for the way they are perceived?! We need only listen to our daily news to hear of the latest outrage committed by these savages all over the world – in the name of Allah. Who in their right mind would want to be a part of such a bloody murderous Neanderthal group – Muslims – whom else?! They earn their own reputation – daily…

  12. says

Detroit muslims excommunicate any of their own who joins the US military. American muslims support every military action against their own kind. They are one big sleeper-cell.

  13. says

Khera is disturbed by the increasing level of anti-islamic rhetoric? Here’s a clue, Americans are getting wise to you, Mr. Khera. No longer will you and yours get a free pass into decent society, regardless of how much pressure is exerted by the now waning obama presidency. You muslims had your chance to make the U.S.A. your friend. You chose to make her your enemy by treating her as you treat your wives and children.

So today we read about a radicalizing Mosque and once again the islamic leaders blame canada because we spend enough Money to help Muslim learn to practise islam and Shariah law within the rules of Canadian values to co-exist.
Hmmmmm…how about choosing to live in a Shariah Compliat nation befor you Parachute into canada and demand prayer rooms in Schools and Workplaces,or demand a Halal Lunchrooms and Foot-baths in every Univ. Campus along with a Mini-Mosque.

Toronto Sun newspaper March 30th 2011

Members of Toronto’s Somali community expressed shock( shocked I tell you(my add-on from Casa Blanca)) at Tuesday’s arrest of one of their own as a terror suspect, and said not enough is being done to keep their young men from drifting toward radicalism.

Abdar Osople, 34, put blame at the feet of the mosques and community leaders of Toronto’s Somali community on Wednesday, saying more should be done to keep young men engaged with building lives here in Canada.

“They don’t do anything for the kids,” said Osople, a married father of three who traded Mogadishu for Toronto almost 20 years ago.

“If the community gave them something … encouraged them to succeed, to work, then they wouldn’t do this. We need to work together as a community to save them, because the community here does nothing,”

Mohamed Hersi, 25, of Scarborough, was arrested at Pearson International Airport following a six-month investigation by the RCMP and Toronto Police.

It’s alleged Hersi ” a Canadian citizen ” was flying to Somalia to join al-Shabaab, an Islamic terrorist group linked to al-Qaeda.

Osman Ali, executive director of the Somali-Canadian Association of Etobicoke, said the mosques and community groups are hamstrung, NOT HAVING ENOUGH MONEY FOR PROGRAMS to properly integrate Somali youth so their Islamic beliefs could co-exist with a more “Canadian” mindset of western culture and values.

“They are asking the mosques to help these people, but the extent that they want programs for these youth, they don’t have the means,” said Ali from his small second-floor office in the Thistledown Multi-Services Centre in Rexdale. What’s needed are employment workshops, leadership training and “elder” speakers who could talk both about the peaceful aspects of Islam and the dangers of radicalism on the Internet, Ali said.

“The mosques try their best with prayers and schools,” he said.

“The people at the mosques preach peace … but they don’t have the means and the funds to really integrate them.”

According to the 2006 census, there are 18,445 Somalis in the Metropolitan Toronto census area.

Note how it’s always someone elses fault and never the Quran or the Jihad teachings from Muhammed.

Sadly , the Police did not make any mention that the man was a muslim or related to islam, and equally as insane is how the Somali community in the Police article had tried to take the credit for this Near-Terrorism mass-slaughter by boasting that they helped report the Jihadist islamofascist.

here’s the RCMP press-release with CAIR’s approval for purging any link to Islam.

The RCMP say information from the Somali community helped them arrest a former University of Toronto student for terror-related offences as he was about to board a flight at Pearson airport to Egypt and then Somalia.

Police seized undisclosed items from Mohamed Hersi, 25, of Toronto, before charging him with planning to participate in terrorist activities and counselling another person to do the same.

The former University of Toronto Scarborough campus health sciences student had been meeting “friends” for weeks at a local mosque who may have had an influence on him, some community members said.

RCMP Insp. Keith Finn said the suspect was allegedly travelling to Somalia to participate in terrorist activities.

“We believe he was on his way to join al-Shabaab and their criminal activity,” Finn told reporters at Toronto Police headquarters. “We will continue to work with partners to eliminate terrorist criminal activity in Canada and abroad.”

Finn said officers were able to obtain information about the suspect from the city’s Somali community.

The information led to a joint six-month investigation in October 2010, that was code-named Project Severe.

“The RCMP and Toronto Police were able to obtain numerous critical pieces of evidence required to lay criminal charges,” Finn said.

Toronto Police Supt. Tom Fitzgerald, of the service’s Intelligence Unit, said the accused left his job and was joining al-Shabaab.

“He was in preparation of going overseas,” Fitzgerald said. “We had great support from the community.” Officers said they’re concerned about the increasing amount of young people from the Somali community travelling abroad and becoming radicalized. They spread the fanaticism to their friends on their return to Canada.

And here’s is the one that almost busted my gut from laughter.

****Police say dozens of young Toronto men are travelling to Somalia for indoctrination into the al-Shabaab terror group only to return home to radicalize others or carry out tasks called for by cell leaders.****

    Hmmmm,dozens of young men???
    Are they Mormon’s,Sikh’s,Gays,STR8’s,Christian’s,White’s,Autistic’s,

Gee…I wonder what the main link is for all these Young men??????,hmmmmmmm,I’m stumped and maybe someone out there
will solve this puzzle for what each young men has in common.

Sorry, I meant in the Last paragraph : I then deny all beneficial influence of Islam on Muslims, at least beneficial influence of Islam on Muslims, not also exerted by sundry other religions and ideologies.

  16. says

A tour de force Sean. You’re on a roll.
Could you somehow sarcastically link the Nazis to the Grand Mufti. Also, we are not so racist as we are accused of. Look at our WWII allies in Europe: Austria, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Finland, Croats, Slovaks, and many more—proof of how we reach out to other communities likewise interested in dominating the untermenschen easterly Slavs.

  17. says

    Sean, very well put.
I hope many muslims read this comment and, because there is no humour in islam, will fume while reading it šŸ˜‰

  18. says

    Great post, Sean.

Islam is in fact as close a modern day movement as it get’s to Nazi ideology.

They themselves seem to think so also, viz the pics we see of the goose stepping, arms raised stooges doing what they so love in Gaza and Lebanon. Add in the open declarations of Mawdudi, Husseini et al expressing admiration and emulation of Hitler and it really confirms what Islam is all about.

And prior to Hitler’s invasion of Poland the eyes firmly shut syndrome we witness now was also prevalent.

Britain had lost around a million lives in WW1 and the raw memories of that slaughter were still fresh, which goes a long way in explaining the desire for pacification.

Every village, town or city in Britain has a War Memorial with the names of the dead and missing etched below a statue of Tommies or other such symbol and they’re still here, well tended and a grim warning of the personal devastation total war brings.

That was then. This is now and the political ROE’s aren’t so much focused on saving lives but power and self enrichment via the endorsement of the mantra of diversity.

It is changing, it had to as the public, assailed by tales of thwarted terror attack and the burgeoning hysterical demand of Muslims, takes note and demands at the very least to know what the hell is going on. And more to the point what are our elected leaders are doing about it.

I see the link from this has now been taken down.

I can tell you, had this demonstration taken place all hell would have broken loose. The equivalent of handing out crosses at the Haj is the only way I can put it. Minus the senseless and crazy uber violence, granted but the tide would have definately swayed and the myth busted.

And of course that’s the last thing our politicians would want.

Couldn’t have that, could we? A bit of truth and honesty for a change.

“I’m a bit perplexed by the focus…the point is, all bigotry is to be condemned,” Kyl said. “Selective indignation is not helpful.”

To all those “Muslim Americans” out there, it’s really so simple, guys. If you don’t want to be associated in the minds of Americans with violence and that word jihad, STOP MURDERING PEOPLE IN THE NAME OF ALLAH. If you don’t want to be thought of as perverted sex freaks, stop marrying your way underage girls off to old men, stop de-clitorizing your woman and maybe think about dealing with one wife at a time. (Oh and ditch the man-goat love. I don’t think I can take another one of those videos our soldiers have made on the sly.) And if you really want to win the hearts and minds of the American people then the “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, kill him” and “First invite them to convert, then if they won’t apply the poll tax, and then if they wont, make war upon them” stuff has got to go.

  22. says

    Brilliant, Sean!

I used to hear my parents talk about how all the German people weren’t bad during WWII, and although that is true in the strictest sense, the world was required to deal with the evil that had taken over Germany. In the same way, we are not dealing with individual Muslims, we are dealing with Islam, whose focus is brutally clear as evidenced by its actions and the writings in its book. Just like Hitler’s little book.

    Vis Superavi Ignarum!

  23. says

Sean, your piece is priceless! You really must send it to some of the more patriotic web sites for publication. Actually there are so many common sense and accurate comments here I am truly refueled for the fight ahead with my liberal and demented loved ones.

  24. says

    Great post, Sean.

You might also mention that Nazism is not about violent conquest: it is really a human rights movement that promotes brotherhood, cultural pride, and family values. It should be a serious crime for anyone to try to tarnish this noble image. /sarc

  25. says

    Great post Sean!

Used a little bit of it in my conversation with a Muslim-defender, you know one that always relativates everything Muslims do, forever denying their unity or Islamic intentions. For instance now claiming that the Taliban is nothing more than just some criminal organisation.

Of course this Muslim-defender was shocked by the comparison of Muslims with Nazi’s. I told him that I could back this up with mountains of evidence/ clues. But, you know Muslim-defenders, ignoring or relativating away ALL clues about detrimental influence of Islam on Muslims. At least detrimental influence that not also is exerted by sundry other religions and ideologies.

Sometimes, out of chagrin, I then deny all beneficial influence of Islam on Muslims, at least beneficial influence of Islam on Muslims, making Islam irrelevant, a hobby if you will, and Allah’s effort with Islam a failure.

  26. says

    “Selective indignation is not helpful.”

This reminds me of a similar quote I saved from Hugh Fitzgerald, “Righteous indignation isn’t a defensible excuse.”
