Abu Qatada and Abu Hamza, two preachers who lived off state benefits after claiming asylum, are identified by the American authorities as the key recruiters responsible for sending dozens of extremists from throughout the world to Pakistan and Afghanistan via London mosques.
The leaked WikiLeaks documents, written by senior US military commanders at Guantánamo Bay, illustrate how, for two decades, Britain effectively became a crucible of terrorism, with dozens of extremists, home-grown and from abroad, radicalised here.
Finsbury Park mosque, in north London, is described as a “haven” for extremists. United States intelligence officials concluded the mosque served as “an attack planning and propaganda production base”.
The files will raise questions over why the Government and security services failed to take action sooner to tackle the capital’s reputation as a staging post for terrorism, which became so established that the city was termed “Londonistan”.
The documents show that at least 35 detainees at Guantánamo had passed through Britain before being sent to fight against Allied forces in Afghanistan. This is thought to be more than from any other Western nation.
Of those, 18 were originally from abroad. The other 17 were British nationals or citizens granted residency here after claiming asylum, who were indoctrinated before being sent to terrorist training camps in Afghanistan.
The Government has paid millions of pounds in compensation and benefits to people regarded as highly dangerous by the US authorities.
Qatada, who was paid compensation under human rights laws for being “unfairly detained”, is described as “the most successful recruiter in Europe” and a “focal point for extremist fundraising [and] recruitment”. Hamza is accused of encouraging “his followers to murder non-Muslims”.
Four mosques in London and an Islamic centre are highlighted as places where young Muslim men were radicalised and turned into potential terrorists. Finsbury Park mosque “served to facilitate and training of recruits,” note the files, adding that it was “a haven for Islamic extremists from Morocco and Algeria.” [...]
Now, the key role that Britain and British-based preachers played in the lives of many of the Guantánamo detainees can be disclosed.
British intelligence services also provided information, including lists of suspected extremists seized from raids on Islamic centres, to the US military as it interrogated detainees. The information was passed on despite the Government publicly condemning the use of torture at Guantánamo. The leaked documents also reveal that:
• Sixteen detainees sent back to Britain are regarded as “high risk” by the US authorities and are liable to plan attacks against the West. However, they have been paid a reported £1 million each in compensation by the Government. For the first time, details of their alleged extremist activities, including travelling to Afghanistan to fight against British troops, are disclosed [...]
The top-secret documents show how Muslim men travelled to European countries such as France, from where they obtained fake EU passports. They then crossed the channel to take advantage of Britain’s generous asylum system.[...]

This is nothing new. Andrew Gilligan (Daily Telegraph and others) has been pointing this out for years. The politicians though, including your own Obama prefer to regard Islam as the ROP. ROP????? When not killing the kuffar they are killing one another in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Indonesia, Malayasia, Nigeria, Somalia and all over North Africa and the middle east. Wikileaks shows US Government probed into Dublin-based Muslim groups
Feared efforts to introduce and advocate for Sharia law in Ireland
One of the latest cables published by Wikileaks shows that the US Government asked the Dublin embassy to evaluate whether a Dublin-based Muslim think tank was trying to have Sharia law recognized in Europe.
The cable detailed how the US Government asked a series of questions on where the Dublin-based groups such as European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), which uses the Clonskeagh mosque, in Dublin, as their headquarters, and the Islamic Cultural Center in Ireland (ICCI), chaired by Imam Hussein Halawa, were connected with trying to introduce Sharia law.
It seems the US Government believed that such groups were trying to get greater recognition of Islamic Sharia law in Western Europe and they feared that such laws would not be compatible with democracy.

AIM: To make Western Civilization Safe for the Most Fearful of Islamophobes.
What is a dhimmi? A dhimmi is anyone who is not opposed to Islam. A dhimmi is an,“exister, whistling in no-man’s-land.” A dhimmi is anyone who aids and abets the spread of Islam in the West. A dhimmi is anyone who loathes Western Civilization. A dhimmi is anyone who does not know about the threat posed by Islam and their active dhimmis. A dhimmi is a leftist/”liberal” who opposes us. A dhimmi is a big parrot with a facial caricature of a prominent dhimmi squawking, “islam is peace” “islam is peace”.
How will we know if PROJECT DHIMMI succeeds? By a sharp rise in the number of islamoloathes and islamophobes leading to grassroots corrective action.
How does PROJECT DHIMMI propose to do this? Through humor and education—a cartoonish book which is a barrel of laughs and a barrel of education. A lot of the humor would be of the sick sarco-type which Islam effortlessly lends itself to. 'There are many ways to skin the rats—the rats being muslims and dhimmis. I have a dream. I want to hear laughter in the stalls from those in the halls of power. I want common sense people to know about the threat of jihad and dhimmitude and laugh at the same time. I want it to be a barrel of laughs where a reader will say, “It’s a real hoot” and “Nope, can’t lend you the book…get your own”. I want the book to be the companion choice of those doing their daily “evacuation”; that should be good for a byte or two of pages. For those in the “speed dump” class, we could expect them to receive at least two-bits of entertainment and education. A cartoon book which is to be digested while sitting on the throne; I resisted the temptation to put in the “h”.
How did this come about? I recently did a search on amazon.com to see whether there were any of the “dummies” books on Islam. Lo and behold, I came across “Islam For Dummies”. Somewhere in that search on that book I came across this, which I assume is an extract:
"Many non-Muslims have no idea that Muslims worship the same God as Christians and Jews, and that Islam preaches compassion, charity, humility, and the brotherhood of man." Of course, that is crap.
A challenge book immediately came to mind, “Islam For Dhimmis”. Was that God inspired? Maybe, or maybe it was the whiskey. Questions: Do you think this project has merit? Would you contribute funds to this project? Would you otherwise contribute to this project? Would you become a Committee Member? That was my thought, too, as I read the article.
If the authorities in Britain *know* and have known for years that these mosques and that 'Islamic centre' were functioning in this way...why have not those buildings and organisations been raided, searched, turned inside out and upside down, the imams and all associated responsible persons booted out of Britain on one-way tickets (sans citizenship if they'd managed to acquire it, or else placed under a sentence of permanent exile), and the buildings...dynamited, razed to the ground.
As for all the 'benefits' paid to the likes of Abu Qatada and Abu Hamza...there's a word for that ...JIZYA.
I don't think the inaction of many of our governments is accounted for wholly by the PC mentality. As of yesterday, I was just suggesting that posters copy their comments—just to be safe—and hit the "reload current page" button to see if the comment was already up.
Of course, I've periodically run into time outs before—when posting a particularly long comment, or if I was away from the computer in the middle of composing a post—but this was rare.
Now it seems to be on every posting.
I've noticed a huge increase of double and even multiple postings, as well, even from experienced commentators—and several posters have explicitly mentioned the problem.
And now it seems to be worse. I waited five minutes for a single sentence comment of mine to post. I tried to reload the page, and got a message saying it could not reload (I don't recall the exact wording). So I had to go back to the JW home page, back to the article, then repost—which took another five minutes.
All in all, about 15 minutes to post a single sentence comment. Certainly, that's not something I can do on a regular basis.
I also have carpal tunnel, so I try to avoid extra keystrokes—not something I haven't been able to do lately.

Dumbledores, in regards to your puzzlement over why these mosques are still open is understandable and a concern shared by many of us. The authorites here are having to 'make the best of a bad job' that began with a major Category Error. I grew up with the Giles cartoon books, which I still love to this day. Giles exactly captures in many frames the transformation of post-WW11 Britain with the importation of foreign labour to keep the factories running. The category error was made back then, in the 60's, in the false assumption that Muslims were adherents to a benign faith. So we find ourselves arriving at today with a half-century-old Gordian Knot. People are wising up at top, but politics is an inexoriably slow process as we all know. I can only hope that they unravel this mess before somebody steps out of the crowd and slices it.
I managed to spend some time in London last year, particularly in Finsbury Park. Needless to say, having known about London's transformation over the past many years, I was already 'aware' of the situation but nothing could prepare me for how saturated this area was with Muslims. I watched where I walked. It is quite bad for those living there as my friend attested. It's absolutely unsurprising that this area's mosque is a haven for terror. The unfortunate thing is that there are many more like these out there in so many different countries across Europe and the United States. More documentaries like 'Undercover Mosque' need to be broadcast and better leaders need to come to power who will actually have the backbone to do something about this, rather than kowtow to a PC dhimmitude mentality.

These are not "Muslim" names. "sonthi", and "aree" are not from the quran or from arabic.

All of the above is nothing more than jockeying for power between Jihadists. Hizb-ut-Tahrir does indeed want to see the restoration of the Caliphate-although not the Ottoman Empire per se. It is the same with the Muslim Brotherhood, which also seeks the restoration of the Caliphate.
Probably only a handful of Turks actually want to see the restoration of the Ottoman Empire as such.
The Saudi approach is more one of influence and incessant Da'wa. Their goals are not ultimately very different.
Really, each Jihad group imagines itself as leader of that Caliphate. The situation of "rival Caliphates" would be very much like the current savagery of Somalia or post-Soviet Afghanistan writ large, with warlords and their followers murdering each other while trying to establish dominance.
It would be rather like the case of a threatened Jew in Germany in 1934 being asked to parse the comparative aims of the Brown Shirts versus the SS, though both wanted to see him dead.
The Jihad is "not monolithic" in its particulars—except that all Jihadists seek the destruction of the West.

The Saudis do not want the Khalifat back. They only want their monarchy, which would be in tremendous danger under a khalifat which proclaims all muslims equal, and under a non hereditary selection system for the Khalifa himself.
The first four caliphs were not hereditary, these are the people whom salafis look to as their example.

I never said that the Muslim Brotherhood was *aligned* with Hizb-ut-Tahrir—merely that both want to see a restoration of the Caliphate in some form.
As a rule, Shari'ah societies that are already regionally powerful—such as Saudi Arabia and Iran—seek to extend their influence through Da'wa, patronage, and funding Jihad terror, often behind the scenes.
They realize that a real push to restore the Caliphate would lead to instability that might undermine their own power, whereas Jihad terror groups with no established power feel they have nothing to lose and do want to see a new Caliphate.
In the end, though, it's all about Muslim supremacy, imposition of Islamic law, and jockeying for power. All the rest is just details.
